August 3, 2010 ICYMI – Is Lindsay Lohan on the path to recovery?Posted: 11:01 AM ET
August 2, 2010 Lindsay Lohan released from jailPosted: 02:16 PM ET
Lohan was released at 1:35 a.m. (4:35 a.m. ET), Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Benjamin Grubb said. He said she was taken to a treatment facility. After Lohan was taken to jail July 20, a sheriff's spokesman said her stay would likely last between 13 and 15 days. Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel sentenced Lohan to 90 days in jail for missing alcohol counseling sessions in violation of her probation. But the sheriff, who runs the jail, has the power to release prisoners early because of jail overcrowding. Lohan was also sentenced to spend 90 days in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program after her jail term is completed. Revel ordered Lohan to enter a program within 24 hours of leaving jail. "I would like the transition to be sooner rather than later," Revel said last month. Filed under: Lindsay Lohan July 16, 2010 Lindsay Lohan Hires Robert Shapiro as Her New AttorneyPosted: 06:56 PM ET
Via People.com Lindsay Lohan's new legal team will include famed defense attorney Robert Shapiro – the man who founded the sober-living house she checked into on Wednesday. Shapiro, who successfully defended O.J. Simpson in his murder trial, says he's agreed to represent the actress, 24, "on the condition she comply with the terms of probation, including a requirement of jail, imposed by Judge Marsha Revel," Shapiro tells PEOPLE. "Ms. Lohan is suffering from a disease that I am all too familiar with," added Shapiro whose son Brent died of a drug overdose in 2005. "Hopefully, I can be of assistance to Ms. Lohan and Judge Revel in implementing a treatment approach recommended by medical professionals for Ms. Lohan's long term recovery and sobriety." The troubled starlet - who claims her alcohol-monitoring SCRAM device was set off Sunday night when someone spilled a drink on her at the MTV Movie Awards - is considering an offer to appear in the NBC hit if filming fits around her movie career. Her mom, Dina, told Page Six, "Donald is a friend of the family, and producers of 'Celebrity Apprentice' have approached Lindsay to appear in the next season. She's deciding if she wants to do it or not, but she currently has three films in production, so she's very busy." NBC refused to comment, saying it was "too early to talk about casting" because filming doesn't start until late this year. A source said, "They are in advanced talks with Lindsay and Dina, but a lot depends on what happens with Lindsay's legal issues." On Tuesday, Lindsay was relaxing by a pool in Los Angeles in a swimsuit and showing off her SCRAM bracelet while her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, was fighting for her in court. Judge Marshal Revel had issued a warrant for Lohan and set bail at $200,000 because her SCRAM bracelet went off after she attended the MTV show and Katy Perry's after-party. Holley, who met with the judge, acknowledged the bracelet "indicated the presence of a small amount of alcohol on Sunday night." Lohan avoided jail after her bondsman posted 10 per cent of the new $200,000 bail set by the judge. Dina added, "She was at the MTV Awards and somebody spilled a drink on her leg, which must have set off the SCRAM bracelet. She has done absolutely nothing wrong and shouldn't have to wear the bracelet in the first place. She is doing absolutely fine." Lindsay wrote on Twitter that it was "physically impossible" for her monitoring device to have been set off, because "I've been more than I'm compliance [sic]." The wayward starlet appeared stone-faced in court Monday as a judge ordered to her to wear a booze-detecting bracelet for blowing off alcohol education classes. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel said Lohan must wear the device and submit to random weekly drug testing until her next court date. She's due back July 6 for a hearing on whether she thumbed her nose at the court after it signed off on a misdemeanor plea deal in her 2007 DUI case. The judge will decide whether Lohan, 23, violated the terms of the plea bargain, which gave her three years probation. The "Mean Girls" star drew the judge's ire by postponing some court-ordered classes and missing a mandatory appearance last week – claiming she was trapped in Cannes, France, after her passport was stolen. Her lawyer objected to the judge's stringent new terms, saying Lohan has a number of photo shoots and plans to film a movie in Texas, and the so-called SCRAM bracelet would be unsightly.
