The Gosselins now battle over birthday cakes

Posted: 07:58 AM ET

For days, Kate Gosselin, at war with her estranged husband, has been excited about the peaceful prospect of making a chocolate birthday cake from scratch for her twins Mady and Cara, who celebrate their ninth birthday Thursday.

Now it looks like even Kate's chocolate cake may be caught up in the bitterness.

On Wednesday, Jon, 32, was spotted with bags of gifts for his oldest daughters - and a big box from a high-end New York City bakery.

Earlier in the day, Jon had accused Kate, 34, of trying to change the arrangement they had worked out to spend the birthday together by insisting that he only spend two hours in the late afternoon and early evening with the kids.

"She's trying to prevent me from seeing my kids on their birthday because she doesn't want to see me," he said of Kate's actions.

Jon insisted at the time that, because it is still his home, he would stay as long as he wanted. According to his lawyer, the reality TV dad has left Manhattan for Pennsylvania - and intends to stick with his plan.

"I would think both parents would want to make the kids happy," said attorney Mark Heller. "I would they'd want to put on their happy faces for the kids rather than make it a tag team wrestling match. I'm hopeful ... the twins can celebrate their birthday with both mom and dad."

In other Gosselin news, a court hearing over the couple's financial dispute - Jon reportedly took $230,000 from a joint account without his wife's permission - was postponed due to the death of the judge's wife, and has not yet been rescheduled, said Heller.

Three Things Job Hunters Can Learn From Jon Gosselin

Posted: 04:59 PM ET

via the MissPinkSlip blog

It was only a matter of time before TLC axed father-of-eight and douchebag du jour Jon Gosselin from its hit “Jon & Kate Plus 8″. The writing was on the wall, and still, I think the Ed Hardy-clad cad was shocked.
[picapp src="b/7/6/4/Jon_Gosselin_Launches_1532.jpg?adImageId=4584447&imageId=6700895" width="219" height="292" /]
What can you learn from this debacle? A lot.

  1. If you’re trying to keep the job you have, make yourself indispensible. That means not abandoning your responsibilities. In fact, you should be doing your job better than ever before. If not, you’re rendering yourself useless. You’re no loss…you’re a liability. Jon Gosselin should be chauffeuring that passenger van, coaching Little League, making brownies for Girl Scouts and braiding pigtails outside his Pennsylvania home…all with a big, whitened-tooth grin on his face. He should be shooting for Father of the Year honors.
  2. If you get let go, go gracefully. If you don’t, that’s what people will remember most about you. For goodness sake, don’t bad-mouth your former employer, either. Making the national talk show circuit with your lawyer in tow isn’t going to do much for your reputation except make you look like a crybaby who lost a third grade kickball game. See also  Melissa Rivers on “Celebrity Apprentice”.

Jon Gosselin's lawyer responds to Kate's money accusations

Posted: 11:23 AM ET

via ETonline

art_jon_gosselinReports of Jon Gosselin withdrawing large amounts of money from a joint bank account with estranged wife Kate Gosselin have sparked a new chapter of war for the divorcing reality TV couple. Following claims Jon withdrew the money without notifying Kate, his lawyer, Mark J. Heller, released a statement exclusively to ET.

Heller says that according to Jon's "recollection" since receiving monetary compensation from TLC for the past four and half years, "he has not withdrawn any money for his own remuneration with the exception of the past several months wherein he believes he only withdrew approximately $175,000 which is less than ten percent of the gross revenues paid the Gosselins…"

Kate's law firm made the claim, according to Heller's statement, that Jon "withdrew the money in secret." Heller argues that all withdrawals are accounted for on the bank statements for which Kate has sole access.

Heller deems it likely that when all of the money is accounted for, "Jon will be awarded substantial additional funds." ET has reached out to Kate's legal representative for comment upon receiving Heller's statement overnight, but has received no response so far. Jon and his attorney Mark J. Heller will appear on "The Insider" panel on Monday. Click here to read the entire statement from Jon Gosselin's attorney.

Kate Gosselin's lawyer: Jon took $200K from joint account

Posted: 06:33 PM ET

Editor's Note: Watch Larry's full interview with Jon Gosselin tonight on Larry King Live. That's at 9PT/6ET!

By Howard Breuer via

art_jon_gosselin_giThe split between Jon and Kate Gosselin has been contentious from the beginning, but Jon could be found in contempt of court for the unauthorized withdrawal of $200,000 from the couple's joint bank account, Kate Gosselin's attorney tells PEOPLE.

Celebrity lawyer Marty Singer, a litigation attorney for Kate, tells PEOPLE that Jon never warned Kate he was going to remove the large sum of money from their account last week, even though the court had told them not to take significant amounts from joint accounts without the other's approval.

Singer says he e-mailed a stern letter to Jon's attorney on Friday but he hasn't heard back. "They have not responded. I'm sure he will respond by going on another TV show," says Singer, who noted that Jon’s move flies in the face of comments Jon made to Larry King that he'd like to put the brakes on his divorce.

Singer says he expects Kate's family law attorney in Pennsylvania will go to court Monday morning to suggest Jon be held in contempt. According to singer, Kate learned about the withdrawal after receiving overdraft notices regarding her joint account with her estranged husband. When she inquired with the bank, she was told Jon had removed $200,000, leaving only about $1,000 in the account.

"Of course she's upset," Singer says. The banking fiasco caps an intensely bitter week between the couple, during which their TLC series Jon & Kate Plus Eight suspended production. The move followed the network's announcement on Sept. 29 that Jon was being dropped from the show, and him saying he wanted to halt the show because it was damaging to his eight children.

Calls to Jon's lawyer were not returned.

Critical Feedback: Jon Gosselin shares his 'epiphany' with Larry King

Posted: 01:17 AM ET

By Brill Bundy via

Jon Gosselin told PEOPLE that while he will always love estranged wife Kate, he has moved on....Was it the epiphany that his pathetic third-life crisis isn't cute and isn't going to help him in his upcoming divorce proceedings? Was it the epiphany that while he's become a walking Ed Hardy billboard, his estranged wife has actually given some thought to how she's going to provide for their eight children in the years to come? Or was it the epiphany that his catting around has pretty much guaranteed that no woman worth the time of day is going to give him a second look.

Er, we're not sure. Probably a combination of No. 1 and 2 with a healthy dose of his lawyer handing him a script and telling him, "If you don't memorize this and keep your nose clean you're going to end up living in a transient hotel and eating cat food."

Either way, he told Larry, "I had an epiphany one day. I made mistakes. I'm here to apologize to Kate ... I apologize to Hailey."

Dude, apologizing to the mother of your children is one thing, but to your inappropriate girlfriend? Blech.

Jon Gosselin: I Don't Want to Be This Person Anymore...I Have to Be a Man

Posted: 11:57 PM ET

By Natalie Finn via E! Online

Jon Gosselin speaks out about his bitter break-up with his wife in a new television interview.Apparently Jon Gosselin's reflection is different from the image he's been seeing on TV for four years.

"I had an epiphany one day," he said tonight on Larry King Live, a hot spot for all things Gosselin these days. "I looked in the mirror and I said, 'I don't want to be this person anymore.'"

That was one of the explanations the disgruntled reality-TV dad offered up as a reason for why he, after once defending the integrity of the show completely, has now ordered TLC to quit filming him and his kids, prompting the network to suspend production.

"I'm sorry I said that," he said, referring to his past on-camera comments about what a great time the kids were having on the set. "If I would have said opposite of that—breach of contract."

"I meant it and I felt that way," he added. "Now looking back..."

According to Jon, his change of heart is not because the show will be called Kate Plus 8 when/if it returns in November—a name change he had no prior knowledge of, he says.
