Hi Larry,
Good morning folks.

Peace in the Middle East would remain elusive unless we get real.
Most Americans do not realize that our national security, economic & geo-political objectives hang on achieving a lasting peace in the M.E.

In fact the focal point of our foreign policy has to be the Middle East.

Most Americans are also not cognizant of the fact that our policy direction in the context of Israel-Palestine conflict has failed. That we however stubbornly continue plodding on the same path which the world now sees as a sham.

Just to illustrate this point let me refer you to the remarks of Tony Blair on LKL. When asked what he thinks of our deciding not to press Israel on freezing illegal Jewish settlements in the occupied territory, which is the hurdle in moving forward on peace talks, he insanely says 'I think it is sensible".

Now this should go down in annals of diplomacy as classic stupidomacy. Of course he said it under pressure from everyone knows where.

Unless and until we become objective, throw away the restricting mantle of blackmail, arm twisting and lobby stranglehold of Israel and become serious ( if that is what we want?) the situation would get worse. Our whole strategy, be it Iraq, Afghanistan or Iran would be jepardized .
Achieving peace in the Middle East has to have just & equitable parameters of policy.

I appreciated LKL's pulling together top Israeli and Palestinian leaders for a discussion. I was pleased to see the apparent respect and spoken acknowledgement that the time for an accord is now. However, Larry King allowed much more air time to the Israeli representative in an unfair, biased manner, whether intentional or no. That mishap turned me off and is not customary of King's professional standards.

For weeks LKL kept deleting my blogs, even when I wished Larry good fortune. If you criticize Israel you get on a list and the Freedom of Speech is just another fairytale in our country.

I want to make it very clear, I am not anti jewish, I have collegues and long time friends of that religion and I admire Prof. Nomsky, Prof. Finkelstein, Mr. Amos Oz, Rabbi Y. Weiss and all those israelis who have the guts to speak and stand up against the atrocities commited by the government of Israel and the zionists. Also the isreali pilots who refuse to fly terrorizing attacks against the civilian population, just to spread fear and to show who the big boss is.

On the other hand I despise our politicians who sell the interests of our nation just to satisfy the jewish lobbies. President Carter was the last president who had the guts to criticize that little punny nation, all others after him kowtow to the zionist cause. We pay dearly for this misguided policy, we lost the respect of the world and billions after billions of dollars are wasted.

Peace in the ME? If you believe it then you just sit at home and wait for the Santa Claus and the Eastern Bunny, because you believe everything.
Peace would mean all the jewish settlers leaving all the occupied territories, giving the water supplies back to the palestinians, Israel must give back hundreds of millions they took from the palestenians, etc., etc.
Those dreamers of a Great Israel will never accept that and as long as our president promises a lot, but does very little in this case, we must just keep paying for the costs of israeli occupation.
In this country we have no anti-semitism, here we the non-jews, the gois, have nothing to say. AIPAC and the zionists tell our government what to do,2.5% of the population suppresses a 97.5% majority.
Look at Helen Thomas, Mel Gibson and others who had the guts to complain about the jewish suppression. You say something and you just lost your job.
What a great nation we are!

@Ted

your post is a welcome sight. Bloggers missed your pertinent and honest comments.Do we detect a change in policy as the King winds up?
The same happened to a couple of my posts on LKL & Joy Behar blogs.

Needless to say that I completely agree with what you have stated.

With Larry King leaving the show an era comes to an end & what a memorable era. I wish Larry King health & happiness.

@ IKAHN

Thanks for your comment.
We are playing with fire in case of the ME. Should Israel bomb the iranian atomic laboratories, this will unite the whole moslem world.
You better fill up your tank before that as after this incident you either eat or drive a car, both will be out of your reach.

50 years ago I was upset, because certain country clubs in the Boston area would not take jewish members. Now I am smarter and understand: let them in and in 10 years they take over the place with jewish customs, holidays, etc. Long time members just leave.
What would we do if ALL immigrants would behave like that?

Larry King you are so very sweet wanting to help and I trust you intention but I don't trust the other players and especially Blair.

Bottom line: it is all about money and power. It is another charade of politicians and diplomats. It appears that there are lot of people on both sides who does not want to resolve this problem. They are afraid and confused as to what problem they should focus on once this issue is resolved. !! this ongoing conflicts is $$$$ for some. Putting Tony Blair on the scene of bringing Peace to Middle East is like putting a fox into a chicken coop. He'll take all the credit if it works, if they don't he'll wash his hands from the entire affair and pretend he was only acting on the advice of his 'spin-doctors' yet he will be paid either ways. With 1.3 million Iraqis dead and over 2 million displaced (refugees), plus NATO fatalities, Blair expects to come out looking clean why and not be charged for war crimes ?

The sad truth is No one cares about people or about human suffering or the every day people that lives have been. Of course they all pretend to care in the name of religion/politic and yet no one has seen God, honesty on either side. No God gave any one land or made any one more chosen than the other lets get this fact right, no God built walls to divide humans or occupy land and cause so much blood be spilled. All the suffering would have seized had Israel not be supported by UK and US and Palestine be supported by Saudi Arabia and France yet the Kingdom of SA will deny to keep it's thrown. Palestinians are ARABS not Persians from Iran like our politicians want us to believe.Israel government is "screaming" for US help to attack Iran's civilians nuclear facilities. Israel has the nuclear arms given by who???? Will President Obama support them in an attack on Iran in order to get the deal? (2011 is going to be an interesting year). International laws has been tossed out a long time ago. Our world is run without rules. Rules are enforced only when and where the guys with the big guns decide they want them enforced. Nothing will change until we become honest and put our priorities first for the future of our children and grand children. Who is running our country lets get real first? Our officials are nothing more than marionettes dancing from the strings held and controlled by who??? We have been in a comma and need to wake up to the fact that the federal reserve bank is privately owned (not federal in any way) and who ever controls our money also controls our nation. If we cannot close this den of vipers and vultures, we will continue to suffer one economic disaster after another.... .....when do we wake up? "Occupation 101 – the root of the conflict" on you tube gives a fair view to this ongoing blood both sides have paid heavily. Keeping the Middle East conflict going makes some very rich. No one cares about the every day people do they? God bless America the land we all love.

Free Media and Honest Media is a good thing.
