How do I get a copy of this episode?

Smith in Oregon   October 21st, 2010 5:39 pm ET

Besides the single argument Republican candidates spew out to the masses that they would keep the Republican Bush jr. tax breaks for the ultra-rich Americans, their sole argument for the Republican 'little people' across America as 'THE' reason to vote for them is:

'The federal deficit is rising and your children's children would have to deal with it.'

Keeping the Bush jr. tax breaks for the ultra-rich American's would add 4 Trillion dollars more to the federal deficit! That certainly is far from the Republican touted spew of being fiscally responsible.

In the past 30 years, ONLY Democratic President Clinton balanced the federal budget, created a large federal surplus and lowered the federal deficit. President Clinton raised the taxes on the ultra-rich and created 20 Million Jobs in his tenure of 8 years. That is far more jobs than Reagan, Bush sr. and Bush jr. COMBINED in their 20 year Republican administrations!

Republican lawmakers did not serve the American People, instead they sat on the bench and voted NO to every bill and piece of legislature and Senate Hearings they could. Republican lawmakers had No Ideas, No Help and Absolutely did nothing to serve the American people nor provide a single reason to elect any Republican candidate into public office again.

Vote Democratic candidates straight across the election board for More Jobs in America, Less Racism and No more Oil Wars.

IKHAN   October 22nd, 2010 1:03 am ET

Hi Larry,

I'm wishing Jon all success with his planned rally.
Sanity, which became a rare commodity during the Bush-Cheney era of infamy badly needs to be restored in our body politic and in corridors of power. Sanity has to prevail over extremism, intolerance, bigotry , racism and paranoia being whipped up by forces which stand for everything un – American and are hostile to our Constitution.
We now stand at cross roads of time and what we do now would determine our destiny. Wars, clash of civilizations, perpetual violence, economic & financial disasters, isolation.
Is that the legacy we want our coming generations to inherit???

There are invasive attempts by extremist & ultra right elements to usurp power, come elections and steer this nation away from the essential goodness which made this country great.
Americans beware! And think hard before you surrender to propaganda, twisted ideology and hate.

I think I guite agree with the points that @Smith in Oregon makes.

I am so glad Jon is organizing a “rally” for us! I do not want to be mentioned by the GOP/TP as being “one of them” and to want the things they proclaim. That’s where I say: ”NO”!
This electoral year is very crazy and sad. It seems to be the “us” against “them” with no room for reflection, discussion, fact finding. Many candidates go with the “flow” and have hit an all time low – with the money spend, the slurs towards the opponent, the misrepresentation of facts – the lies to the voters. And the “people” have not done a good job to vet candidates, to see through the one liner’s, to insist to ask questions, to get informed about the issues that do affect your lives, and to be open to points of view. There is no recognition by some that the country was on the brink of a depression when President Bush left, no recognition of the complicated connection between jobs and industry, no thankful thought that the administration did so much that helps the middle class be it with bringing forward healthcare reform, regulating the finance industry, and many other very important issues. Instead, there seems to be something close to “McCarthyism” taking hold, with hysteria about “taking the country back” and “the Constitution” without knowing what it really means. The last 2 years have been a betrayal on Democracy by stating openly the refusal to work with a lawfully elected President and his Administration wanting them to fail and openly disrespecting the results of an election. The “free” media has to ask itself about the part they played in this whole scenario. Jon is absolutely correct in his description (even though funny) of CNN. Perhaps, they are not so “free” to report neutrally to inform the public but got into a superficial dig into what “sells” instead of responsible reporting.
Please, my dear friends go out and vote! But, don’t be bought, coned, or fooled! Please, vote informed, responsible, smart and in the interest of the country (that you love?) and also in your very own interest.
I agree with what IKHAN and Smith in Oregon said! Well put!!

When will the Jon Stewart from early in week air again on L.King?

Kurt Schumacher   October 22nd, 2010 9:59 pm ET

You would think humans should have learned by now. History does have a way of repeating itself. This is Deja Vu in the human race experience. When one party gains control through vast amounts of corporate money and power.

Wishing you, Jon, all success with your rally.

Smith in Oregon and IKHAN both have nailed the problem. The question, who else can see this?

Nutze den Tag

Smith in Oregon   October 23rd, 2010 8:01 pm ET

Thanks Kurt for your kind comments and observations.

Larry King, you personally helped raise Millions of dollars for the Haitian relief effort and kudo's to you for your efforts.

Currently hundreds of Haitians are dieing from Cholera, a disease which is spread by eating uncooked food and drinking unboiled water. The disease is not quick in killing the victim, rather the person becomes so badly dehydrated and empty of essential minerals they have heart failures.

This problem has been addressed over and over in South America and totally resolved by following these SIMPLE, EASY STEPS, please pass them on to those that can use them:

Cook all food consumed, Boil all water to be consumed.

If the 10 cent salvation mineral packages are not available for supplying the mineralized drink to the victims to sip on and recover, the place a single unpeeled potato into a bowl of water, boil that and as it cools add a pinch of salt and a pinch of sugar. Give the resulting liquid which then contains ALL the needed minerals the Cholera victim needs to fully recover. Let the victim sip on that solution to regain their health and recover.

The 10 cent salvation mineral packages are widely available to treat Cholera, they are placed into boiled water and slowly sipped by the Cholera victims to regain their health and recover.

Lacking the cheap, widely available salvation mineral packets, those treating Cholera victims can easily boil a single unpeeled potato as outlined above to supply the minerals and fluid the victim needs to recover.

interesting stuff but when do You invite me? 🙂

Thank you Jon,
The last fifteen or so years the political hysteria has hyphened and the media with all it's sensational news has taking over, then with the birth of the blackberry all the one liners emerged. American politics is no longer confined to the educated only but now there is a new "proud to be uneducated" scribbling speeches on the her hand but what's most scary are the masses cheering. Ouch! this is the sad reality all the well meaning groups permanent war on our economy and causing havoc on our political system, the so called doctrine and theories that created unnecessary bloodshed of millions based on lies now within America we are obsessed with hating and bigotry that has multiplied. The Patriot Act one and two is no different to preworld Word War two days of Hitler and Mussolini that became law during Republican Bushes days. During the 40's the Jewish people were hated now the Muslims are hated. Who cares about sustainable energy, fight for civil liberties and want corporate malfeasance to end, were once again suckered by the Democratic Party this is not a new story. We are third generation watching TV and fed poison by Fox and Murdock. We are a nation that has lost it's sanity spinning out of control quite hopelessly. If you have Muslim names you will be subjected to Patriot Act treatment. This has scared the hell out of the underclass. Being labeled or suspected worst of all being terrorists is this what our Constitution was all about ? What are we little toys and gizmo's with out brains? Drive on our high ways and see road signs "report suspicious activates." feeding poison of fear and hate. How about equality for all for a safer and happier America. The Tea Party most cherished and favoured candidate Rich Lott from Ohio is fascinated by the Nazi Germany ignoring the fact six million Jews were killed by his beloved hero Adolf Hitler.
Why has hate crimes against Muslims and Latinos increased because fear of the “other” people. The “progressive” Whites are afraid to speak out strongly against bigotry. Progressives have castigated President Obama for "not doing enough," while they remain silent on the racist invectives being fired at him. Sharron Angle of Arizona, claimed America might have to use “Second Amendment remedies” against its “tyrannical” government is going against the American Constitution. Koch brothers are heavily financing the the Tea Baggers. Shamefully this party has positioned several rednecks and wing-nuts closer to the levers of power. We should shudder that Rand Paul, Sharron Angle, Trent Franks, Rich Lott and Carl Paladino are so close to elected office. Sadly this is the New Republican party giving birth to a new movement desperately fail to realize the limitations of the party system, to create profound change; especially when bigoted opposition is financed by multi-billionaires. Come November 2, will we let nostalgic bigots reverse the inroads of there hate we’ve achieved with the election of President Obama not thinking what is the right road to take for all Americans. God Help America and give it wisdom so desperately lacking. When will we ever learn ? it's just skin let Obama do his job.

Nana Brown   October 24th, 2010 2:19 pm ET

President Bush, openly has denied that mistakes have been made in the war on terror. Is this news ? Type in the key words mistakes of World War 11 or replace it with words of any war the answer is shocking? Type in the word Bush used "Crusade" and let the search engine give you the information that Fox news does not. We are third generation collecting our facts from media that is based on lies for it own political gain.
We can't go back to the Bushes years but we are not happy what we are seeing around us this elections this legacy of the Bushes years in office was one of complete nightmare for United States and the world. If we want to continue down this path of destruction, while at the same time watching nations around the world collapse due to similar financial decisions and others like China and India grow, then vote for all the tea bagger or check out your facts on wikipedia and vote wisely. Our country has had it's fact wrong since quite some years but now it's spinning like a lose barrel riddle with myths, fear, hate and bigotry. Where are all the intelligent independent observer ?

Smith in Oregon   October 24th, 2010 7:40 pm ET

40 Years ago a Democratic administration led America to the Moon.

Now after 20 years of Republican administrations, America would have to beg China for the Steel and fittings to even build the Golden Gate bridge. Thanks entirely to the Republican lawmakers, America is now a 'super power' in name only, it has no full manufacturing base itself which no super power can exist without.

Look at the Millions of dollars from China, India, Pakistan and Vietnam pouring into Republican political machines like Herr Karl Roves the 'Chamber' (pot of Horrors) which under the recent US Supreme Court ruling can funnel those overseas 'donations' in unlimited amounts to Republican blitz advertising campaigns which are deluging American's from coast to coast.

China and India knows full well the Republican lawmakers have been largely responsible for outsourcing jobs, moving factory's to China and rewarding overseas factory's with huge tax breaks and federal subsidy's.

A full 80% of America's entire economy comes from domestic spending. Republican lawmakers pretend they utterly do not know nor even understand that. Are they really that ignorant, or are they continuing to destroy America's economy and recovery in a heartless attempt to pursue their special agenda of torpedoing the Obama administration even thou that destroys America in the process?

Democratic Clinton created 22 Million jobs in America in 8 years.

Republican Bush jr. created 800,000 jobs in America in 8 years.

Democratic administrations create more American jobs in America and have done so for over 20 years of America's past history and running.

Americans want more American Jobs in America and only the Democratic lawmakers are going to do that.

Americans want to slash the enormous tax breaks being given to American factory's moving to China, India and now to Cambodia and Vietnam and only the Democratic lawmakers are going to do that.

Vote Democratic candidates straight across the election board for More American jobs in America, Less Racism and No More foreign Oil Wars.

Nani   October 24th, 2010 7:42 pm ET

Thank you Jon,
President Obama is the victim of the sky-high expectations that his 2008 victory generated but the reality has been we were left with Bush's legacies. The proud tea baggers are not at all embarrassed how little they know about the Constitution of America or being some red neck hilly billy seeking attention. This is not comedy central this is our country gone insane.

Magnus Reid   October 25th, 2010 3:45 am ET

I never found CNN Interesting until I saw this started watching Larry King an now within one night cant wait to watch more

Ted   October 25th, 2010 8:11 am ET

@ Smith in Oregon

Your figures show only the half truth.

First of all, a president cannot do all that without the approval of the congress, (look at the present situation, congress against Obama), therefore the democrats are just as responsible for the misdeeds! Did not all democratic senators and congressmen voted for the war with Iraq, although it was clear that the reasons were pure lies? Did we attack Afghanistan without the yes from the congress?

Second, since 2006 the democrats control both houses and Bush could not go to potty without their approval. Why did they approve the Surge and all those changes of regulations that lead to the collaps of the housing market? They destroyed the very base of our security.

Is it true that the biggest contributor to President Obama´s campaign was GoldmanSachs? That bank broke every law and regulation, caused billions of dollars of damages to the investors, yet nothing happened to them, it is getting bigger and richer by the day.
Can we say the same to those retirement funds and small investors who lost everything or a great part of their investments?

In the past we had statesmen who went to Washington not to get rich, but to serve their country.
Those days are long gone, now we have gold diggers from both parties who have only one interest: to serve those who finance their campaigns and to fill their own pockets!

Ted   October 25th, 2010 8:26 am ET

@ Smith in Oregon

The USA has today almost nothing that it can export, other countries make those products better and cheaper.
We lead the world only with deadly exports, weapons to kill and to blow up. If we put the same effort into other products, then we could have something to sell. This way we just cannot efford a world peace, if there is no need for weapons we lose our very last export hits.

You cannot run a country only on buying products from other nations, we must sell the same amount to them or eventually they will buy up our valuables. Remember the japanese in the 1980s?
China is ten times bigger and will take our place in world politics within 10 years. Militarily we do not have the chance of that proverbal snowball against them, therefore either we stop buying all their products now or start learning chinese.

Nana Brown   October 25th, 2010 11:03 pm ET

Thank you Jon and Larry,
How many Tea Bonkers actually know what the original Tea Party movement was all about? My guess is about 2% Those Americans who will be voting for the Tea baggers have even less clue what this groups represents. The Romain empire was also once very popular with nitwits cheering.Sadly the Great Romain Empire fell and there was nothing left to cheer was there? In the Tea Party narrative, victory at the polls means a new American revolution, one that will "take our country back" from everyone they disapprove of. But what they don't realize is, there's a catch: This is America, and we have an entrenched oligarchical system in place that insulates us all from any meaningful political change. The Tea Party today in the media as this great threat to the GOP the reality, is Tea Baggers are GOP. What few elements of the movement are the Republican Party in control ? all we can see is madness spinning like never before. This is not the Obama's grass-roots movement or any thing like with brilliant minds caring for all American not just a handful. The tea bonkers have leaders with nothing more on there minds other than you keep filling there bowls. They are the "radical right " a term they prefer no different to any nuts we are fighting over seas. Dr Ron Paul is a member of AAPS because they believe that any health care reform should be market-oriented and embrace more freedom, not more government in other words we sell our home to pay for our medical bills and the insurance companies robes us dry. Good Job Doctor !!! don't you care for us people ?Glen Beck the leader of the Tea baggers leading fellow Americans like Pied Piper of Hamelin is the subject of a legend concerning the departure or death. The nuttiest after Sara Pailen is no other than Christine O’Donnell making a mockery of running for public office with no real success in knowledge of any thing. What a cast of characters are these nuts who are running the GOP or is it mental asylum?
God help America we need to wake up.

Angela Savage Austin   October 26th, 2010 3:16 pm ET

It saddens me on every level to know how our childrens are suffering on every level. The four most heartbreaking levels for me are hunger, medical, education and bigotry. As a mother of (2) wonderful sons, I must confess, it was them who taught me to be a better mother and person. Above all, we need to start a campaign against bigotry on every level especially regarding homosexuality and our children. Instead of calling our children "gay", we should be more concern if they are "HAPPY" and "HEALTHY".

...We need to START A CAMPAIGN TO END BIOTRY ...ON EVERY LEVEL...because it is the ultimate sin against humanity, for the Greatest gift God gave mankind is Love....NOT SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS!

Was it not Jesus who Loved Us so much that He Sacrificed His Holy Life that We All Be Saved from our sins..JESUS SET THE EXAMPLE FOR US TO FOLLOW...Its time to stop sacrificing each other in the name of fear....Instead of ..."Whats Love Got To Do With It"...we should say WHAT HAS THIS TO DO WITH LOVE.

You and John Stewart should Get together and Rip Ford a new one for not stepping up to bring the Ford Fiesta ECOnetic
to the US- at least test the US consumers with a few thousand and see how they go over.
