Primaries in 7 states and DC today – Bill Maher on LKL tonight!

Posted: 09:15 AM ET

Note: Bill Maher will be our guest TONIGHT on 'Larry King Live' to discuss today's primaries, and look ahead to the mid-term elections!

Here are some things to watch for in Tuesday's races:

Ugliness in Delaware: The Tea Party Express poured money into the insurgent campaign of Christine O'Donnell. She is challenging longtime congressman and former Gov. Mike Castle, who is backed by the party establishment, in Delaware's Republican Senate primary. In some of the most vicious campaigning seen so far this year, Castle supporters have attacked O'Donnell, accusing her of defaulting on personal bills and not paying income taxes - which she denies - and calling her "delusional."

Establishment Republicans think they have a shot at picking up Vice President Biden's old Senate seat if Castle, a former governor, is their candidate, but don't stand a chance if O'Donnell wins the primary. But O'Donnell, who's been endorsed by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, says the attacks have backfired and only intensified support around her.

The state GOP chairman said he had received death threats because of his support of Castle and had moved his family out of their home. O'Donnell condemned the threats.

Bill Maher, absolutely my favorite guest on the LKL show.

I'll be watching.

Smith in Oregon   September 14th, 2010 12:52 pm ET

Doesn't America still remember Republican majority speaker Newt Gingrich's shut down of the US Federal Government over the Republican Politician's budget clash in the 1990's?

That is precisely what the Republican lawmakers are planning to do if they are able to gain a majority once again in Congress.

Placing Republican's into a majority in Congress is going to halt the economic recovery across America and throw America into a Great Recession taking decades to slowly climb back into positive growth where America is now.

Calling Hispanic children 'terror baby's', Black American's 'violent and lazy' and those following the Muslim religion as 'stealth jihadit's', the Republican party and it's Tea baggers are attempting to divide American's and trample on decades of legislative rights regarding Women, Race, Religion, Personal and Constitutional freedoms.

Bailing out Wall Street was priority number one for the Republican lawmakers but they block and obstruct legislation to help middle and lower class American people who are struggling to even maintain what they had some 10 years ago.

Joe G. (Illinois)   September 14th, 2010 3:49 pm ET

It’s not about who gets elected..
It’s never about who gets elected.

Anyone remember Borak Obama?
You know.. the current resident at the White House?! So he can order pizza and get in less than 30 minutes. Great accomplishment.. Very great.. But then again, anybody can do that..!

Joe G. (Illinois)   September 14th, 2010 3:59 pm ET

As far as I’m concerned, all the Borax of the world who last voted Democrat for Abortion, Liberal Progressive Immorality, and Hell on Earth or “Equality” can stay where they are and keep their majority. (If money, lack of money, or bad economy is the only reason for the switch).

Man can’t make a fool out of God and the game as gotten very old!

Don Lanquist   September 14th, 2010 4:40 pm ET

Bill, Bless you. How about my ONE-PAGE HEALTHCARE proposal, wherein ALL profits go to Free-Agent, providers( Hospitals, Docs. Nuses Etc.) Similar to our Non-Profit System of National Defense, wherein ALL profits to providers(tanks, warplanes Etc.)

Smith in Oregon   September 14th, 2010 5:54 pm ET

For decades Republican led corporations paid massive fees to safely dispose of extremely toxic Floride. Thanks to the help of huge donations, Republican administrations allowed them to dress in full hazmat suits in loading that same Floride into America's toothpaste, stopping them from paying Billions in toxic waste disposal and making Millions in placing that into the mouths of America's children. Republican's call that a win-win. And yet America calls the Mafia a corrupt criminal organization, go figure!

maeve   September 14th, 2010 6:17 pm ET

My personal favorite in Christine O'Donnell's imaginary resume is her imaginary degree from a college that has now announced that she did not have a degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2006 as she claimed. She was awarded her degree this week in 2010. It took 12 years for her to receive her degree. Must have been all that remedial work. Lies about her personal finances and no history of personal financial responsibility–are these qualities that the citizens of Delaware want in a political candidate? Remember this ethically flawed candidate wants to be part of the group that will determine how your hard earned tax dollars are spent.

Karen Wickman   September 14th, 2010 8:40 pm ET

Dear Bill,

This country was founded on a ‘balance of powers’. When there are entrenched differences of opinions, the periodic change of different politicians and political beliefs by design provides checks and balances. How do we get this country back to our forefathers’ ideal of democracy? The party of “NO” is destroying it with their tactics!

Don   September 14th, 2010 8:56 pm ET

Sarah Palin is quickly becoming the Jim Rome of conservative politics complete with emulating clones, to her credit. I always thought Hillary would be the one to start a third party (ALP American Lasbor) but it was Sarah who split the yoke first.

Chris   September 14th, 2010 9:04 pm ET

The tea party is funded totally by Koch Industries, oil and chemical giant. They are anarchists, are against taxing the rich, want to abolish the dept. of ed and EPA. They bash climate change research. These people are being had and don't even know it......your take on this?

Darlene Mirto   September 14th, 2010 9:09 pm ET

Where are all the journalists who should be looking at who is behind all the racism and suddenly all the investigations into black politicians?

Ray Jarrett   September 14th, 2010 9:09 pm ET

Bill Maher, I am very surprised you did not take Larry King's show when he retired. I believed you are the best choice.

william   September 14th, 2010 9:11 pm ET

PLEASE come to Denver,I will share our wonderful medicsal marijuana with you!!I think you are the best!!!

Liz   September 14th, 2010 9:19 pm ET

Its interesting how much they bash Obama. As a kenyan who understand the Luo tribe i wonder if they have ever taken time to visit the people in Kenya and get to know them before making judgements against them. Luos are good christian folks in kenya, they are hardworking and a generous people. Obama's father like many of us was a man who wanted a chance at the American dream and even thought he didnt get a chace to live it he led a good life as best as he could. All the lies about the Luo tribe of kenya are dispeakable and i think people need to be more global in the thoughts and perspectives and do their homework first before bashing Obama and bashing a people in east Africa that they obvious;y know nothing about. By the way the luo tribe is not pronounced Lau but is pronounced Lew woo!

Gislaine Hall   September 14th, 2010 9:23 pm ET

Bill Maher is absolutely my favorite. If the "tea party" people listened to him, maybe they could get a little more "educated" and really get a life! Now, I just wonder how he keeps his "coolness", and I am just trying to not despair with all this tea party, republican madness and ignorance......arrrggghhhhh!!!!!!

CHARLIE GORDON   September 14th, 2010 9:25 pm ET

I am a long time admirer of Mort Sahl. You do remind me of him. Have you heard anything about him and did you appreciate his polical humor?

robert meglen   September 14th, 2010 9:27 pm ET

So what would your response have been to 9/11 Bill Maher?

prince osagie from toronto canada   September 14th, 2010 9:35 pm ET

hi bill am a fan, lol. when could we possibly have another black president in america after all this obama drama?

Eric C.   September 14th, 2010 9:35 pm ET

Bill Maher,
You say that you can't stop terrorism, what should we do to ensure that we do not suffer anymore attacks?

Tony   September 14th, 2010 9:36 pm ET

Bill Maher is rite on . This guy needs a radio show to beat down evil......

Alex   September 14th, 2010 9:37 pm ET

You talk alot about the Bible says. I am a Disciple of Christ and do not share Sarah Palin's view on the Bible. Have you ever actually sat down and read the bible front to back? If not would you be willing too?

Sunil Shah   September 14th, 2010 9:37 pm ET

Larry / Bill,

Can you please address the polarization of our nation – What will it take to bring us all together – Money is big draw to keep the intersts separated – but the issues for America – are poor education, loss of manufacturing capbility / supramacy – religeious orthodoxy / ignorance of the uneducated – hill billies – etc. goverment hand outs – can we not get people to work for the benifits that they receive – clean the streets to collect unemploymeent – etc. – No handouts without work – China makes the prisoners work for providing us with cheap stuff – let's follow in some things while we lead in others. – And we need to (corporations) stop sharing our technology with other contires – or giving it away as the sakes guys do for the short term gains that everyone is focused on.

I votefor Bill Maher as the next president.

Denise Griffin   September 14th, 2010 9:38 pm ET

Larry & Bill,

I don't understand if this Country is based on separation of Church and State, why is it such a concern whether or not the President is Christian?
Is this really United States of America?

Wayne   September 14th, 2010 9:43 pm ET

Dear Larry, and dear Bill -

Bill: you say Sarah Pallin and her "religious ilk" are looking to pick a fight with the Muslim religion, and that "It's even in the Bible." Well, sorry. No such thing exists. The obvious reason for this is that Islamic way of life was "divined" from the the Bible by the Prophet Muhammad some 600 years after it was written. The book of Revelation contains no such inference to the cataclysm for which you make reference.

Lawrence Haun   September 14th, 2010 9:45 pm ET

How can democracy function when 30 to 40 percent of voters think that the earth is less than 7000 years old and humans domesticated dinosaurs?

maryam akhavein   September 14th, 2010 9:46 pm ET

Dear bill you are the most inteligent american.I wish you were running for president. you why wouldn't you?Look what they are doing to this beautiful country. It is a shame.

don & emily andrews   September 14th, 2010 9:48 pm ET

Hi Larry,

Great job having Bill as your guest.
it is an inteliigent choice

You are both great and deserve to stay longer in the industry

How can you help the country to counter the lies and misbehavior of our current journalism especially from Fox news

what do you think we can do to fight this kind of unprofessionalism and political propaganda from supposed to be unbiased journalism

Diane Harper   September 14th, 2010 9:49 pm ET

Bill Maher's constant reference to Tea Party activists as "teabaggers," a derogatory term for homosexuals, clouds any real points he is trying to make. Why would Mr. Maher ruin an other wise interesting interview with his not-so-subtle gay bashing?

Pat Lorenz   September 14th, 2010 9:49 pm ET

Why doesn't Bill Maher run for President. He has more common sense than any politican I know.

Mary Jo Morris   September 14th, 2010 9:53 pm ET

I love Bill Maher, the most logical, real, celeb on broadcast. Would love to have him over for dinner and a few glasses...

Ted Coberley   September 14th, 2010 9:56 pm ET

I would love to share a comment for the program. Wouldn't it have been fun to have been in Florida and done a one for on, burn a Koran, burn a Bible? Only seems fair.

sura   September 14th, 2010 9:56 pm ET

Ask Bill, where in teh world Islam has created peace and brotherhood. They want ransom for releasing our ailing citizens.Did you hear the news today-One more example of ruthlessness.

john chadwick   September 14th, 2010 9:56 pm ET

Ask bill how you deal with crazies who live in the stone age and have modern day weapons

Bill Reynolds   September 14th, 2010 9:56 pm ET

Hey Gearge, sure wasn't where you found Religion!

Sandeep   September 14th, 2010 9:57 pm ET

Bill, big fan of yours. My question is about your movie Religilous. I went to the movie to see my religion made fun of – hinduism. There was no mention of it. Honestly, I was a little offended.

No mention of any other eastern religion buddhism, sikhism, taoism etc. There's over a billion of us. Are eastern religions that difficult or complicated to a westerner to even make fun of them?

don & emily andrews   September 14th, 2010 9:57 pm ET

you're great having Bill your guest tonight
You both are great and should stay longer in the industry

Hey Bill,
Please keep pushing to retain professionalim in journalism
where are the great media folks and why are they letting lies and propaganda dominate the once "un biased journalism"

Why are they so quiet and let these things happen

what can we do?

Diane   September 14th, 2010 9:57 pm ET

I love Bill Maher! He is the one person who thinks (almost) exactly like I do! How many of us are there in the world? Don't ever back down, keep it coming!

Joan Seghieri   September 14th, 2010 9:57 pm ET

Why doesn't Bill come to California, Arco Arena or HP Pavillipon??????

maryam akhavein   September 14th, 2010 9:57 pm ET

alteir4   September 14th, 2010 9:58 pm ET

Saheed   September 14th, 2010 9:59 pm ET

Great comments and very realist personality.........

Joe Harbrecht   September 14th, 2010 10:00 pm ET

Bill – Wake up! Who controlled the legislature when this travesty to our economy happened? Who was in charge of Freddie and Fannie? Who demanded that banks give no down payment loans? Who changed the Constitution to say that home ownership was a right instead of a privelege? Your holier than thou attitude is part of the problem.

Jim Anderson   September 14th, 2010 10:02 pm ET

I want someone to ask a high ranking muslim leader the following.
We know that Muhammed 's influence is important.
This very verse is brought up all the time.
You have in the messenger a beautiful pattern of conduct to follow.(Qur'an).
I want to learn about this pattern of conduct.
Where do I read about it.
Muhammed is barely mentioned in the Qur'an.

The correct answer is in the Sunnah, which muslims are discouraged from reading.
The pattern of conduct is 90% pure evil.
This is at the core of all the problems with Islam.

The cleric or Iman you ask this question to will lie to you.
But thats OK in Islam. Google Taqiyya.
He will give you a refference that may only be 5 years old that has nothing to do with the hadieths.
I have read the Qur'qn and sunnah.

sandy   September 14th, 2010 10:09 pm ET

Agree, agree, agree! Bill Maher! You were brilliant tonight. I wish you were taking Larry's place!

Jerjol   September 14th, 2010 10:33 pm ET

@Joe G Illinois

You cannot believe how sorry I feel for you.

Like many Repugnants, you just cant get over that a Black man is President.

You have allowed yourself to be brain washed by the likes of Sarah Palin, Glen Beck, Newt Gingrich, and Walrus Limbaugh.

If you ever consider thinking for yourself, you will be a much happier man.

mary in toronto   September 14th, 2010 10:42 pm ET

Hi Larry

I always watch your show when Bill Maher is on. He is so very unobstructed by agenda.

matsab   September 14th, 2010 11:23 pm ET

Today's show with Bill Maher was just great, how do I download this episode? He tore Fox apart.

Dodie   September 14th, 2010 11:45 pm ET

As true to form, Bill Maher always speaks with clarity of thought and not manipulated by the rhetoric and propaganda that one hears every day from the media. Bill, you give us hope! Thank You!
Dodie from China

Mike   September 15th, 2010 12:16 am ET

I watched your program tonight. I cannot understand that you allow Bill Mayer tel all those lies. "The internet makes people more stupid?" "Teabaggers hate to be called racist and hate blacks??" Meanwhile the election results predicts huge wins for teaparty. Who is out of touch???

No wonder that less and less people watch your program anymore.

leslie   September 15th, 2010 12:39 am ET

what does bill thinks about female reports going into the locker room of male players for interviews.

Mary   September 15th, 2010 12:48 am ET

The rumors you hear about Hillary Clinton running as Obama's VP in 2012 are being spread by the dreamers in the Obama campaign because they know he will lose in 2012 if he runs. In 2008 Hillary Clinton won more votes than any other candidate ever in the history of presidential primary elections. Obama is in the Oval Office only because of fraud, which included bribery and other crimes committed by the Obama campaign during the campaign and all the way up and including the Democratic Convention in Denver.

Hillary Clinton should not and will not lower herself to carry Obama on her shoulders into the White House again.

Emad Ismail   September 15th, 2010 1:04 am ET

Bill Maher Comment about Islam is discriminatory and biased. Islam is not a violent religion, please read the Bible and see what the Bible says about killing every living soul, animals, humans alike which is repeated in Deut. and again in Jushua. Let alone his comment that burning the Quran will generate a lot of killing, but if they burn the Bible nothing will happened?

the Muslims will not burn the Bible because they respect the Bible, as they did not vilify Jesus when some Christians vilified Muhammed.

Please Mr. Larry King let your guest know this.

paul hitchcock   September 15th, 2010 1:47 am ET

hey Mister Bill

You obviously don't know very much about the things you say.
Obviously you aren't aware that in Indonesia in 2007 members of a Muslim solidarity group from Cinere and other villages nearby damaged property and posted banners protesting a Huria Kristen Batak Protestan church building under construction in the Cinere village. The mayor asked the church to halt construction until they could reach some sort of compromise with the protesting Muslims. More than a year later, the mayor revoked the churches permit on the grounds of preserving "interfaith harmony"! (maybe you will pass this on to Bloomberg, too)

I think you're funny but uninformed,

nina1fox   September 15th, 2010 1:50 am ET

Global conceptualization of any group is a false analogy as it does not take into consideration the individual benchmarks.

Bill Maher, always enjoy your expressions of events.

paul hitchcock   September 15th, 2010 2:51 am ET

hey Bill,

Another thing: Beck used Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" as an example of good "political" sense. He did not mention that Tom had no "spiritual" sense like you, but he, too, called him an atheist and I informed him as I am you that Tom claimed to be a Deist (that is if he ever truly existed and everything about him wasn't just fabricated – I hope you find this humorous if you have read "Reason"). It should be noted that the example organization for Christianity which he uses was and is a gross misrepresentation of true Christianity. We are in need of another "Reformation" because the Protestants have fallen back into the error from which they escaped – Arminianism.

Would you be willing to sit down with David Barton, an American historian, across the table from Larry (if he is consenting) and allow him to educate you and the audience on the Christian heritage of the United States of America? I think you would be quite surprised by how wrong you are on that topic.

You also mentioned being an atheist. I was wondering ... what's it like knowing that you have no Creator endowment of unalienable rights? That you are at the mercy of whomever might have authority to rule over you. What if "they" would decide to do away with all of your Constitutional rights, too? By the way, the 2nd enumerated right is our most important unalienable God given right; for it insures and assures that all of our rights, the whole of our Constitution and Declaration of Independence aren't just ink on paper!

I would really like to take the time and space to reveal to you how foolish the religion of evolutionism is, but i won't – maybe another time.

Some things to think about:
matter must have a maker/energy must have a source
specific patterned information must come from an intelligent mind
life must come from preexisting life
purpose must come from a person

I am aware that atheist claim that there is no real purpose or meaning to life, but if you "know" this, why do you throw together a do-it-yourself, delusional purpose of trying to convince others that their lives are meaningless and purposeless, too? What a ridiculous religion (world view) that is!

Atheist, being amoral, meet the criteria of "legal insanity" according to the dictionary: "A degree of mental malfunctioning sufficient to prevent one from knowing right from wrong."

You don't want to go there.....
come back,Bill....come BACK to your senses!

love, mercy, grace, peace, joy and glory forever,

Paul R.   September 15th, 2010 3:46 am ET

Thia has nothing to do with this country because it was never founded on organized religion. This country was founded by deists. All of em. Done.

Mr. Maher,
How do you feel our current president has done with his current obligations? (obligations meaning – responsibilities given to him Pres. Bush) and maybe (President Obama) didn't now what he signed up for? I say give him a break..... and i say give him a break beyond him being African American; and I'm white and from South Carolina. I want him as my president.

Paul R.   September 15th, 2010 3:50 am ET

President Obama has worked as hard as he can _ taked the worst slang I've ever seen towards a president of my country and turns his cheeck: I'm 26 years old: but I believe in him and his decisions. He is a icon and I would only hope to have his fortitude when I grow to his emotional and responsible age.

Look at what he has done... now what he has not.

Paul R.   September 15th, 2010 3:53 am ET

what did happen to all that money?

media? right? so what i see is what i get? on local media? – – what do i get?

I read the NYT everyday_ yeah Krugman doesnt like you – why does the econ dept professor of harvard not like you?

Joanaroo   September 15th, 2010 4:39 am ET

I agree, Bill! We are doomed! If these Tea Party candidates are voted in, there goes any America that the Founding Fathers had in mind when the Constitution was written. It'll be: Freedom of Speech-ONLY if you are white and Christian conservative. Right to Bear Arms, and that means an AK-47 and an Uzi to fight all those awful people in your town. Freedom of Religion-ONLY if it's Christianity.

Nana Brown   September 15th, 2010 7:55 am ET

We all love you Bill.
President Obama took over America with a grade 4 Cancer that had metastasized left untreated by Bush. Now the Tea Naggers want results . We all think they are a big joke but sadly enough they will being America down with there pray beads and ignorance what can we do to stop this hate from spreading?

Jerjol   September 15th, 2010 9:25 am ET

@ Emad.

Emad Emad Emad, C,mon you know that it is the wish of every muslim to bring the entire world into the religion of Islam, and if they thought it would help this to happen, they would burn every bible on the face of this earth.

Can you please explain the following theory.

It is a well known fact that a man by the name of Jesus really existed some 2,000 plus years ago, which makes christianity believable.

But there is absoluty no proof whatsover that an entity known as Allah ever existed, other than in the words of Muhammed, who was only an average person earning his living by preaching about the so-called word of Allah.

I think you should really consider coming to the real GOD, the Christian GOD and save your soul.

Margaret McGreevy   September 15th, 2010 9:29 am ET

Why would Bill & Larry find it necessary to make a joke about a women being stoned to death in Afganastan?
To express any comment except horror at this awful deed is beyond the pale.

Ted   September 15th, 2010 12:57 pm ET

I love bill Maher´s humor!! He says what he means and he means what he says, a quality unknown among politicians and very rare among the press people.
I hate to see presenters telling a lie, because their face shows that they know it is a lie, but still try to sell it to us.

As far as the USA heading toward to be a great third world nation, it is true. Just leave the country, travel for a longer time and go home again. The stench of ignorance hits you right in the face.

Belle   September 15th, 2010 2:49 pm ET

emad ismail, have you read the New Testament? There is no reference to encourage war, killing etc whether you're an unbeliever or not, but there's the greatest story ever told and that is the love of God in the form of Christ Jesus, His Son. He and He alone will and is able to fogive mankind his sin and redeem us to the Father God. Have you read the Satanic Verses? Read it and see for yourself what the koran says about killing the infidel and how you're suppose to lie to them and to get your religion to rule the world by being sly, conniving or by any means.

Nana Brown   September 15th, 2010 3:13 pm ET

Emad Ismail: grow up get a life. Bill you are doing great we all love you. Hope you watched Alan Hart on BBC or youtube .... quite chilling and a eye opener.

tutidiez   September 15th, 2010 11:34 pm ET

Bill I used to watch you HBO program until I lost the Pay Channels due to Money, why don' you at least put NEW RULES in the internet or in YOU TUBE, I realy miss your program so much, it is a lot of issues
we laugh and learn about.

neville   September 16th, 2010 5:49 am ET

If you can't speak freely why speak at all, Bill I have much love for you, thank you for being who you are and want to be in this free world.

Ted   September 16th, 2010 7:49 am ET

@ jerjol

Jesus may never existed as there is no exact proof of his being, only hearsays!
However, if he did, then he was a human being just like you and I.
The christian church did not elevate him to a diety until the 5th century, making him a son of God and added the Holly Spirit to watch over us..

On the other hand Mohammed was a true living person that cannot be denided.
As far as Allah and our God; they are the same with different names, both copied from the jewish Torah and invented by men. Remember, all early christians were jews, they created a new sect of the same religion.

It is known that God lives in Heaven, correct?
According to the Bible God created on the first day the heaven and the light, that makes any intelligent person wonder:

Jerjol   September 16th, 2010 5:15 pm ET

I am not a christian or a muslim.

I am an agnostic.

But I will say that given the choice of a religion that condones and incites it's followers to commit suicide, or a religion that tells us that suicide is not acceptable under any circumstance, I know that I would select the latter.

In my humble opinion, a person that is willing to end his/her life in the name of their God is in fact a LUNATIC, 12 virgins or not.

Cajazz76:24:8   September 17th, 2010 1:52 am ET

Congratulations to New York state for the nomination of Carl Paladino (R) who will be running for Governor. You will have the first Fascist governor in the country, should he be elected. His profound racism and his natural inclinations for pornography and illicit smut will certainly guarantee you all the ridicule of the world..He is an unusual exhibition of human behavior at its worst..I have just mentioned his best attributes...just hide and watch..more coming...caj
