Ex-star linebacker Taylor pleads not guilty in rape case

TONIGHT LARRY TALKS EXCLUSIVELY TO LAWRENCE TAYLOR'S WIFE!

WHY SHE MAINTAINS HIS INNOCENCE!

(CNN) - Hall of Fame football linebacker Lawrence Taylor pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges that he raped a 16-year-old girl in Rockland County, New York, a court official told CNN.

The former New York Giants star was arraigned Tuesday before Rockland County Judge William K. Nelson.

Taylor has been charged with third-degree rape for allegedly engaging in sexual intercourse with someone younger than 17 and third-degree patronization for allegedly paying the underage victim $300 to have sex.

Taylor is free on $75,000 bail.

Taylor, 51, was arrested in a Ramapo, New York, Holiday Inn room on May 6, a few hours after the alleged rape took place, authorities said at the time. Ramapo is about 30 miles northwest of New York City.

Ramapo Town Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence and Police Chief Peter Brower told reporters after the incident that the alleged victim was a runaway from the Bronx and had been brought to Ramapo by a pimp.

The girl texted an uncle after she returned to New York City the next day, and the uncle notified the New York City police, prompting the arrest of Taylor and the alleged pimp, St. Lawrence said.

Seems like a slam-dunk. Prostitution with a minor, police nab the pimp. But America's legal system is so utterly corrupt, Lawrence Taylor's 'dream team' of attorneys are likely pouring millions of dollars into various officials pockets in an effort to be found 'not guilty'.

The legal system should throw this bum into America's massive Prison System for 10-20 years and force Lawrence Taylor to pay a huge fine to the minor. The minor should go ahead and sue Lawrence Taylor in civil court for kidnapping, rape, forced prostitution and receive a huge multi-million dollar settlement.

I am sitting here listening to Lynette Taylor and am appauled that she can claim to know what went on in that motel room. The only people that know what occurred are the people present in that motel room.

"Good girls" do run away. They run away from abusive family. That doesn't mean she deserves to be raped, just because she ran away.

Glenn   July 15th, 2010 10:11 pm ET

Lawrence Taylor was set up. No one in the media has made mention of the fact that the girl was kiddnapped forced to have sex against her will.

finally Federal prosecutors has filed human sex trafficking charges against the pimp for providing Lawrence Taylor with the hooker.

I Lived in Hollywood for years. I used to see the same thing day after day the rich man comes out of the hollywood hills to buy sex and the hooker takes him up to the room once his pants is off two people jump out of the closet and rob him
they repeat the process over and over until someone calls the police. In Lawrence Taylor's case the the pimp and the girl cojures up a plan to get money out of Taylor. It's a scam

Lynette should be quite. I think she incriminated her husband tonight.

Shad   July 16th, 2010 12:29 am ET

@l Lynn.... That woman seems really tuff, I believe she interrogated the heck out of him !!! Secondly, now u think the family is at fault for her running away ?? I think what she said made a lot of sense, how did this uncle know exactly how to find her ?? Ny is a big city...... And @ Karen, how in the heck do u figure she incriminated him ??? I actually think she made sense of the whole mess.

Shad   July 16th, 2010 12:41 am ET

@ Lynn..... That woman seems pretty tuff, I believe she interrogated the heck out of him !! Secondly, ur saying that the family is at fault for her running away?? So leave home and find a pimp , riiiiight !! I think it made a lot of sense what she said about the uncle knowing exactly where to find her, new York is a big place to find someone that's been missing for months in a matter of minutes from two texts ...... And at Karen how do you figure she incriminated him ? I actually think she made sense of this whole mess !!!

Avery   July 16th, 2010 12:51 am ET

I agree Karen. She wasn't there! If it was a court of law, she wouldn't even be heard, end of story.

One wonders if Lynette Taylor has any idea how ridiculous she sounds on TV. It is clear that she does not even believe what she is saying. I understand wanting to support your husband, but she is merely trying to convince herself that he did not betray his vows by having sex with a minor. She claims she knows everything that happened in the room. How absolutely naive. I hope when she looks at the tape of the show she will realize how dumb she sounded. Stand down Lynette Taylor. Your man had sex with a minor. You know it.

D.C.   July 16th, 2010 1:11 am ET

@ Lynn: The woman is very annoyed about the whole situation. In fact I'm annoyed for her. She is obviously in state of denial. let face the hard facts here. 1. A woman was in his room. 2. He paid her 300.00. What else needs to be said about that????? She is doing L.T. more damage by being interviewed nationally. She is loud, rude and doesn't know when to shut up and listen. my heart goes out to you Larry because I saw how hard it was to keep your cool while trying to interview someone who wants to take control of the entire show. Bigggg uppps Larry. Good job...

cejones   July 16th, 2010 1:19 am ET

People let's be honest . This is Lawrence Taylor a Black Football Hall of Famer of course the media going to put him off has a BAD Man . He's INNOCENT !! Why? Its tha PIMP GAME and EVERYBODY Does IT or Wants To..... "LET HIM BE" Give L.T. PEACE... Holla!!!

Doug   July 16th, 2010 3:50 am ET

I think this Lynette Taylor is so stupid that she actually believes people would believe her about anything. LOL If the Prosecution would put her on the stand..Lawrence would definately go to jail. She'd cover him far anything he wanted to do. Why is she on?

Jenni   July 16th, 2010 4:21 am ET

If that was the best defense that Lawrence Taylor has, he is in trouble. His wife was totally not believable, and the things she were really disgusting, blaming this 16 year old rather than her husband. I think Lynette should keep her mouth shut, and I'm surprised his lawyer hasn't told her just that.

JB   July 16th, 2010 5:55 am ET

His wife is so deep in denial that it would be comical if the case were not so tragic.

"she let herself in"

"he gave her the $300"

As others have noted, she sounds like she is trying to convince herself.

Ahmed A Umar   July 16th, 2010 6:31 am ET

How exactly 16yrs old girl enter a motel and dat lawrence Taylor how he came 2disame room again!

Jackie   July 16th, 2010 10:27 am ET

I was amazed at how stupid Lynette Taylor sounded on the show last night. Can she really think that prostitutes can not be raped and that only "bad girls run away". Maybe she should find out why these girls are in this position. Most people would not do either if they had a choice. Maybe LT and his people should keep her in the back ground she did him more harm that good last night.

Luis B. Rosario   July 16th, 2010 12:23 pm ET

Lynette Taylor is standing by her man. Let the police, the prosecutor
and the courts do their job. There are some of us who recommend
charges against L.T. from kidnapping, rape, and forced prostitution,
along with a civil lawsuit. Some of us believe that we know too much
about the criminal justice system. Sometimes we opine that the
American legal system is "utterly corrupt" and then on the next issue
we will praise the same system as the best in the world. It is all
depending on what issue satisfies our ego and needs, not justice.

Avery   July 16th, 2010 8:27 pm ET

I agree Luis. I'm American, but I have lived in Canada and Europe and it is a little much hearing about how great our system is when it's obviously 2-tier, one for the rich and famous and a completely different one for the regular folk.

Deborah   July 17th, 2010 6:11 am ET

I have listened to much of the phone conversation. Its truly funny that people cannot see through her. There is mostly one conversation going on. Shes is trying to come off oh so sweet but think of this. She is trying to say things to him that ends up boiling the mans blood. She knows exactly what to say to push his buttons and I tryly feel she made him extra angry on purpose just to be able to build a future case she was after. She comes off as mother teresa and he comes off as a SOB that women would normally hate.

I honestly think she set him up since she made such a point to tape him and his tyraids. She is after the money she is no longer going to have in the end or maybe a lot more than he was willing to offer. She was just a girlfriend, not a wife. Its all about the money and building a case to get that money and I feel she will stoope to anything she can to get it.

There is much not on the tape and that is what she says before he begins ranting. Think about it people. Why in the world is she taping phone conversations???????? The women planned all of this prior to Mel's supposedly downfall. She wants to distroy him and knew exactly how to do it.
