Monday: The Donald interviews The King!

I wonder what Donald Trump would have to say about the oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. Would be interesting to hear.

I have an invention that will stop the Gulf oil spill in 5 milliseconds once fabricated and installed. The device involves fitting an attachment collar over the severed pipe stub and securing it in place with clamping bolts. The device comprises a custom fabricated metal slide frame containing a gillotine blade. The installed device has the blade parked on one side of the pipe leaving the pipe stub passing through. On the opposite side of the slide frame is a landing seal made of a malleable (soft) metal with a sufficient steel mass backing so as to stop the blade travel. The blade is approximately 1 1/2 inch thick case hardened steel with a knife edge at the cutting side. A semi-parabolic focusing cavity is back lined with C-4 and the conical side houses a viscus liquid. When the pyrotechnic C-4 is detonated, the semi-parabolic shape will focus the explosive energy via the viscus liquid at the back side of the gillotine blade, causing it to drive through and sever the pipe stub, then land in the malleable stopping mass. The distance from the semi-parabolic focusing surface to the back or thrusting side of the gillotine blade is critical; it must be at the focal point. The activated blade will cover the pipe opening and seal off the plume. Small drilled ports can be installed with grease type xzerts so as to inject a marine grade silicone sealant if some seepage occurs. Shaped charge devices were developed by DARPA for military use to disable IEDs, land mines and suspect vehicles or containers. I have viewed a shaped charge device used to focus a linear jet of water that completely severed a cargo container suspected of containing explosives without detonating the explosive inside the container. This device might be used in the future on any well (deep water) or otherwise as a back-up last resort shut off. In this scenario, it would likely be installed below the BOP. If my invention idea is used successfully, I would, of course, hope to be compensated for the intellectual contribution.

involving and engaging I could have watched it for ten continous hours

Dear Larry, first congratulation for 25 years with CNN and 50 years, doing what no one else can do. I am from Sweden have had CNN on in my office for as long as CNN has been available, nearly don't miss any of your programs. I know you get thousand of messages and thought, my note will just be lost, but you have given me so many inspirations and angels on how to encourage me to always look for solutions, rather than to accept a 'NO' or 'that's not possible'. I hope you one day will make a topic about those entrepreneurs and innovators who do make a difference in the world, but maybe not reaches the headlines, but still contribute a difference in the world.

Thread the oil pipe and screw a tapped coupling over it and close the tap. All oil pipes (risers?) after this should be threaded inside and out.

Question for Larry. Would you support the idea of CNN giving your slot to a regular guy? Not some high browed, over paid celebrity? CNN could save a ton of money and give the average joe a chance at a better life. Not that you have'nt done an excellent job, but let's be real here. How hard could it possibly be to ask some pertinent question and be personable and gracious at the same time? Thanks Bruce

Larry, I have watched your show for years. I think you are one of the best interviewers EVER ! I would love an autographed copy of your lastest book. I tried to get one a few years ago.

I believe we need to be fair to everyone and like the constitution says we all have the right to practice our religion. I am not muslim but I have great muslims friends who are just triying to get a better life for them and their children like many of us, and should not be held accountable for what a bunch of crazy religious extremists did.
I wish politicians did not use this approach to get votes while endangering our lives and those of people that pose no treat to anybody.
These country is made of many people of different races and creeds that deserve the respect of everybody and some politicians better get use to it.
