LKL Web Exclusive: Kathy Ireland's 'hope' for Make-A-Wish

Posted: 11:59 AM ET

A wonderful thing happened for me this week, and it reminded me that two of the most beautiful four-letter words in our language are “wish” and “hope.”

They are two words we tuck away for safe-keeping in our hearts.  I have just begun using LATISSE® (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% and am excited to be part of a campaign which is going to help raise a great deal of much needed funding for an organization which fulfills wishes and hopes for a lot of inspirational children whose misfortunes might have stolen from them the ability to dream were they not so courageous and so in love with the wonders of life.  Please join me and some of my dear friends in helping the Make-A-Wish Foundation® make wishes come true for these heroes who refuse to stop wishing and hoping.

Join me and my fundraising teammates in the LATISSE® Wishes Challenge campaign, "Dancing with the Stars" pro Chelsie Hightower and "Today" show Style Editor Bobbie Thomas.  We will be raising money to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.  I've worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for 16 years, and was so moved by one family we served that they remain close to my own family today.

Some of my dearest friends who have already come on board with their contributions and their generous support are my friend and teacher in humanitarian endeavor, Dame Elizabeth Taylor, and Janet Jackson, who so beautifully wears her heart on her sleeve in her music and her philanthropy and the depth of whose feelings you see so powerfully through her acting talent.  Also on board for the wish children is my own "Dancing" pro Tony Dovolani, who is so attuned to the rhythms of life.  They are sharing my joy in being able to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation assist our most precious fellows on this planet, these children so challenged in the fulfillments which come so gift-wrapped for the rest of us.  Come share the joy of helping them accomplish their dreams, helping them hold on to the hope.  Most wonderfully, my new friends at LATISSE® will match all donations up to $250,000 through October 31, and you can receive a LATISSE® free trial certificate.

Let me remind you that each of us, at some time, feels we have lost the ability to wish and to hope.  It is hard work to find our way back onto the bright path.  Think of the wondrous strength of spirit of the people the Make-A-Wish Foundation provides with fulfilled wishes.  Helping them, we can borrow some of their spirit.

They give back far more than they get.  So please log on today to www.LatisseWishesChallenge.com to get involved.

American scientists who spent five years shooting nearly 1,000 sperm whales with tissue-sampling darts discovered stunningly high levels of toxic heavy metals in the animals, according to a report obtained Thursday. The extremely high levels of cadmium, aluminum, chromium, lead, silver, mercury and titanium together are the highest ever found in marine mammals, the scientists say, warning that the health of both ocean life and the people who consume seafood could be at dire risk.

That directly places 1 Billion people around the world directly at risk NOW because of Republican led American corporations that have dumped millions of tons of garbage and toxic waste into the Ocean not caring one iota about the consequences to the 'little people'.

Yes, some people don't care and don't have a conscience it seems and as a result, this is what our world is becoming........a toxic wasteland beforelong. There is always a day of reckoning.

I don't normally consume that much seafood, but this report could surely put me off it.

Kathy – a friend's daughter has cancer and has been a benefactor of the Make-A-Wish foundation. They installed a play ground in her yard and sent them to Disney. I just wanted to thank you for your generous donation of time and money to support this very worthy cause:)

Make-A-Wish Foundation means so much in this world. Children
should always be our priority, and when children are vulnerable (which happens of course when ill), they need more care and creative thought than medical care only. Make A Wish puts that extra "spiritual connection" help into the healing arena by making "magic happen"...and that kind of magic goes such a long way in the healing process. Thank you Kathy Ireland, Tony Dovolani, Janet Jackson, Dame Elizabeth Taylor and all the others who are making such a huge difference in the lives of the most important thing we have, the children. Truly, God has blessed you all. Love Rick and Lee Hiller-London
