For a Century Louisiana, Texas and the Gulf States have been utterly dependent on toxic, poisonous and carcinogenic crude Oil. It will take decades to wean these States off of its addiction to crude Oil and as the Gulf region dry's up, place a permanent moratorium on all Ocean Oil drilling on America's territory's.

The Northwest went thru a similar addiction to Timber, the Republican led East Coast corporations came and raped the land, clear-cutting the forests in a mere 8 years. And then moving back to the east coast with their greedy mega-profits. They left huge deserts where forests once flourished, and immense fish kills where forests once shaded the rivers and streams. The entire region was economically rocked, entire towns and community's were lost.

Far more jobs were lost in the Timber Moratorium than in the entire Oil industry, but the Northwest survived. The crass and callous Republican lawmakers REFUSED promised federal subsidy's to the States most effected by the logging moratorium.

YES, the same Republican lawmakers that are now pretending to care about lost wages and the economy over the deep Ocean drilling moratorium, REFUSED to pay Northwest States that greatly suffered under the Timber Logging moratorium and was promised federal subsidy's by the US Govt. only to be screwed by the Republican lawmakers who refused to give those funds to those needy states. That directly resulted in wholesale gutting of police forces, fire and emergency employees, school and library funding.

YES, the Republican lawmakers REFUSED to help the States directly suffering from the Timber Moratorium resulting in major layoffs in Police, Fire, Paramedics, Schools and Library's across the Northwest, and those same Republican lawmakers are now attempting to 'pretend' they are concerned about the Oil Moratorium on little people's lives.

Ivanka, please help us get them to dredge and seal the Destin Pass to save over 129 square miles of Choctawhatchee Bay plus the connected bayous and the sound (intracoastal waterway). Together we can save the estuaries and so much wildlife.

Please have someone design a t-shirt that people could wear after making a donation, that shows the solidarity of the people on the Gulf coast. Every one is affected in someway. Meredith
