Aruban authorities ask Natalee Holloway's father to delay search

Posted: 07:53 AM ET

Aruban authorities are urging Natalee Holloway's father, Dave Holloway, to delay volunteer search efforts in her disappearance until police get better information on the case from Peruvian investigators who have spoken to Joran van der Sloot, prosecutor Peter Blanken said.

Police do not want their investigation jeopardized or possible evidence contaminated in the Bubali Bird Sanctuary, a swamp area where Joran once said he dumped Holloway's body, Blanken said. Aruban authorities wish to search a more focused area once they receive more information from van der Sloot and his laptop, which may include files linking him to the Holloway disappearance.

Earlier, Blanken said investigators from Aruba would not be able to question van der Sloot until Peruvian authorities finish their probe of the May 30 slaying of Stephany Flores. The formalities of Peruvian law also will determine the time frame, the prosecutor said.

Aruban and Peruvian authorities agreed to "help each other" in the Flores case.

Aruban Police = Keystone Cops

When are people going to take these things seriously. If they took Natalie's case more seriously maybe Stephanie would not have died. Look how he's acted, he clearly is capable of killing Natalie or being an accessory, why the special treatment? why the separate cell, all of, treat him like everyone else! Women are not expendable. and 15 years in prison is not enough! He has ruined two people and their families lives!

this guy clearly has everything to do w/ Natalee's "dissappearance" (death) she is dead. my problem w/ putting him in "GenPop" is this.. if they put him with the rest of the other prisoners...they Will kill him! i do not want that to happen because then we will never know what happened to Natalee. he has to remain alive so that he can answer the questions from Aruban authorities. he absolutely Must lead us to her body for closure

How very sad that the Aruban authorities let this guy go free with so much evidence against him...Now another girl with her whole life ahead of her is gone. I feel so very bad for both I cannot even imagine losing your own child. Joran belongs in Peru...he's terrified...I wonder if either Natalee or Stephany were terrified as they were murdered....Hopefully, the Peruvian authorities will get some answers out of him, about the Natalee case...I agree, the family needs closure...God bless both families in this tragic case...

The Aruban authorities? That is an oxymoron.

I like the way the article say "are urging" as though they have any power to make a compelling argument about anything.

The international community should support Natalee Holloway's dad in ignoring the Aruba "authorities" completely.

Its been 5 years and they're worried about evidence being tampered? Is anyone in charge in Aruba? I will never set foot in Aruba.

I think the us government is corrupt when it comes to dealing with international crimes. The fbi gave money for a deal what does that mean that they gave him money to flee and called the natalie case a disapperance. If the us government lets this guy go then what about the other criminals who are ten times worst then this guy how are they dealt with are they given money to start a new life. Scary to think about for all I know my next neighbor could be goverment bait.

Listen willard, kate & kc let go of some of that false pride. Stephany Flores would be alive today if our own super perfect FBI did not botch the opportunity to arrest him on extorsion charges. They ignored aruban authorities' warning that he was leaving their Island consequently another family has to fall victim to this reprobate. "for whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted".

Yesterday, it was reported that Joran befriended two prisoners with whom he watches t.v. and plays cards. Only a psychopath with no conscience could enjoy social activities after just committing a brutal murder. BTW, I just read that Flores skull was fractured and cervical traumatized. (police reports are online). Based upon this earlier reports that he is depressed and terrified are untrue.
