President Obama on LKL tonight – here's a little preview

Posted: 05:28 PM ET

President Obama goes one-on-one with Larry King on Thursday night to talk about the oil spill, economic turmoil and war. Watch"Larry King Live," at 9 p.m. ET.

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama told CNN's Larry King on Thursday that he is furious about the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, but his job is to fix things instead of just yelling at people.

In a White House interview for the 25th anniversary of "Larry King Live" on CNN, Obama called the oil spill an unprecedented crisis for the country but added it could have been worse.

Despite the challenges posed by the oil spill, global threats involving North Korea and Iran and political battles with Congress, Obama called being president "the best job on Earth."

"It's an extraordinary privilege to wake up every day and know you have the opportunity to serve the American people and make life better," he said.

King noted that the latest CNN Poll of Polls showed Obama at 48 percent support among the American people, which the president called pretty good, considering the circumstances.

"Given everything that's going on, my poll numbers are all right," Obama said.

Asked about his anger toward the oil spill situation, Obama said he was furious because "somebody didn't think through the consequences of their actions." Obama also said he had not seen enough of a rapid response from BP to the environmental catastrophe.

"I would love to just spend a lot of my time venting and yelling at people, but that's not the job I was hired to do," Obama said. "My job is to solve this problem and ultimately this isn't about me and how angry I am. Ultimately this is about the people down in the Gulf who are being impacted and what am I doing to make sure that they're able to salvage their way of life."

This president is on more self promotion shows than a teenage rock star. Narcissism run wild. Well Larry fail to mention how much money Obama took from BP during the election and why was Obama fundraising and bribing Srstek before he visited the Gulf

Can't wait to see this interview. Mr. President get someone in charge of this disaster. I am tired of hearing SLOW RESPONSE. You can't be in that small of a bubble.

The Coming Resignation of Barack Obama
By Peter Ferrara
American Spectator
Months ago, I predicted in this column that President Obama would so discredit himself in office that he wouldn't even be on the ballot in 2012, let alone have a prayer of being reelected. Like President Johnson in 1968, who had won a much bigger victory four years previously than Obama did in 2008, President Obama will be so politically defunct by 2012 that he won't even try to run for reelection.
I am now ready to predict that President Obama will not even make it that far. I predict that he will resign in discredited disgrace before the fall of 2012. Like my previous prediction, that is based not just on where we are now, but where we are going under his misleadership.
Watergate was supposed to have established that Presidents are not above the law. If that is so, President Obama may have to resign for breaking the law in the Sestak affair.
Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) is now the Democrat nominee for the Senate seat held far too long by Arlen Specter. President Obama induced Specter to switch parties and give the Democrats their very temporary, 60 vote, filibuster-proof majority, in return for endorsing him for reelection and promising him no opposition in the Democrat primary. But Sestak had already announced that he was running for the seat, and he refused to get out. Two week ago, Sestak defeated the unprincipled, opportunistic Specter for the Democrat nomination, continuing the perfect string of everyone who Obama endorses and campaigns for going down to defeat.

In my opinion, president Obama is an ILLEGAL president. He has disgraced the United States long enough! He has surrendered our country to our enemies. IMPEACH OBAMA before it's too late!!!!!

Patrick502   June 3rd, 2010 5:38 pm ET

Recently I heard that bp was cutting a pipe that would increase flow by 20% until cap was placed. Now I hear the cap may not fit. Do we have a bigger more fast growing oil slick now?

William Propsner   June 3rd, 2010 5:38 pm ET

Larry King. Ask Obooboo "Why do you lie about your true birthplace? Why do you disgrace the United States? Why are you adamantly UNAMERICAN??? When are you going to RESIGN!!!!!!

William Propsner   June 3rd, 2010 5:40 pm ET

Read 'Floyd Reports'. It will show you positively what kind of illegal president we have in the White House! He was elected illegally.

SOS   June 3rd, 2010 5:56 pm ET

William Propsner really hates the president...
It must just be constantly eating away at him.
Be careful Mr. Propsner, or there will be very little of you left.

Austin Logic   June 3rd, 2010 5:59 pm ET

At least Obama went a couple of sentences without blaming Bush.

DerrickAnthony   June 3rd, 2010 6:37 pm ET

John McCain wasn't born in this Country, nor in a United States Territory? Who is illegal, him or Obama. Hawaii and Kansas are States.

john best   June 3rd, 2010 6:49 pm ET

British Petroleum (BP) representative Randy Prescott made a comment, “Louisiana isn’t the only place that has shrimp.” His office phone number is (713)323-4093 (713)323-4093 and his email is randy.prescott@bp.com Give him a call or send an email! Tell him “BP isn’t the only place that has fuel for my car!” PLEASE REPOST

Give Obama a break. If the stories of his past is true, they are fixable. No one, except his Creator, has the right to stand in judgement of him. Who still keep's the breath of life flowing in and out of his lungs moment by moment? Who still keeps the breath of life flowing in and out of the lungs of his critics moment by moment? Therefore Obama still has a God given chance to do what he has been put in his seat to do. I've never seen anyone so possitive in all my life. As long as someone still has the breath of life in them, they have a chance to salvation. If the critics in America want their country to have a good name, they are the ones who should be living the better way to show that they are better. To Obama's critics in America, I would like you to know that it is not everyone who dislikes or hates America. There are people outside of America who love the people of America and who have a hope that if America does what the God of their forefathers expect, America can be turned away from the coming disaster. Repentance is what is needed. More specifically, repentance from the leadership of the Seventh-Day-Adventist Church in America. They have been entrusted with spiritual light and hope for the world but have hid the light under cover. They have joined hands with the darkness. With religious leaders who sit in the seat of corruption. If those who walk in the light do what should be done, a new dawn of light and goodness will break on our world. The answere lies in the Biblical prophecy of the East and the West. God, the Creator of Heaven and earth, has no desire that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. When the jews were still a nation, they kept repentance, light, truth and saving power away from the world. They were selfish and wanted to keep the power of Jehovah to themselves. God's will was for all the nations of the earth to be blessed through Israel (Old Israel), and to receive salvation and eternal life, from Jehovah through Old Israel to the whole world but their greed to keep the blessings and power of Jehovah to themselves led the entire world to be covered in gross spiritual darkness. There is a way out of our human misery. "There is no other name given in heaven and on earth by which man can be saved except the name, Christ Jesus". He is the only hope of the world."For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved".
There is so much more hope I would like to give you. If anyone is interested, e-mail me at uphillips640@gmail.com God bless. A fellow global citizen.

Hey Derrick Anthony

I do not understand the controversy over Senator John McCain’s citizenship. The following from the United States Code could not be clearer:

“[8 U.S.C. 1403](a) Any person born in the Canal Zone on or after February 26, 1904, and whether before or after the effective date of this chapter, whose father or mother or both at the time of the birth of such person was or is a citizen of the United States, is declared to be a citizen of the United States.”

If Obama was as legitimate as he wants everyone to believe, then why has Obama spent $800,000 in legal fees rather than paying $10 for a copy of his Hawaii birth certificate?

Don't get me wrong, I am SOOO thankful the color barrier has finally been broken. Now just maybe, going forward we as Americans can take a real hard look at a candidate's qualifications rather than his color. What we have learned from Obama is that the only change he has made, was breaking the color barrier for future candidate's, However he is still the same slick talking politician that most of know and hate.

Peters   June 4th, 2010 3:32 am ET

This is United States of America! Keep driving your cars...

Smith in Oregon   June 4th, 2010 3:47 am ET

Republican Congressmen appear to be eager to belly up for Halliburton's Cash political donations!

Dick (Shooter) Cheney's back door benefactor and best friend and former employer, HALLIBURTON Gushed donations into the select Congressional committee's which specifically are created in Congress to oversee the Oil Spill liability's and fines. In a ratio of 13:1 virtually ALL of the Republican Congressmen sitting on those Congressional investigations and committees had their pocket's filled with more money than Halliburton has politically donated for the past TWO YEARS.

Talking about TAINTED MONEY!

Does any non-Republican here doubt that Halliburton is attempting to buy a lesser fine being levied against them?

Cyndi   June 4th, 2010 12:07 pm ET

I am so proud of our President. My heart and prayers goes out to the people of the Gulf Coast.

And, yes, everyone has seen this man's birth certificate. Hawaii released it to the public several years back. And all you have to do is go to your local library and find an old archive (microflim - remember those? - before the internet - and you'll find his local paper's birth announcements.)

Please my fellow citizens, act patriotic once again. We need each other in these times of need. My best to you all.

Hilary   June 4th, 2010 3:17 pm ET

We need a jobs program with the federal government as a direct employer paying living wages and offering benefits. The oil spill clean-up should be a federally-run public works project. Don't listen to the free-market snake-oil peddlers. If the free-market is so great, how come wages and benefits have been declining for 30 years straight? The only thing that the private sector can offer is $10/hr crap jobs with no benefits. We need government intervention now.

Karen   June 5th, 2010 12:13 am ET

President Obama is doing a commendable job as our leader, especially with what he is up against with so many hateful, disrespectful people within the US who nitpick and blame him for just about everything little thing regardless of fact. I look forward to his re-election.

For those who cannot get over Mr. Obama being born in the US, may they wallow in their stupidity and ignorance.

kate   June 5th, 2010 2:13 am ET

President Obama is doing an excellent job in dire circumstances. If only he had the power to put the managers of BP in jail where they belong. Shouldn't destroying the environment and killing wildlife be a felony? Their heedlessness to make a buck has destroyed what can never be repaired.

Marry   June 5th, 2010 4:27 am ET

I find it heartbreaking to hear so many insults and accusations towards our President. He works so hard and gets one thing after the other done to help Americans to find a new and better future. Whatever he does, you can bet there is unwarranted critic of people that cannot come up with any, not to mention better solutions. What is it with these people?

Anthony   June 5th, 2010 7:54 pm ET

I have read the hate comments about our outstanding president and the people who say such negative things don't really know and are very ignorant and in fact quite stupid about the things they say. Only cause they don't know a thing about what is going on and absolutely; completely un-intelligent about what they are crying about. And quite frankly walk around this earth without a soul.

Cyril   June 5th, 2010 11:13 pm ET

Its painful what I read here about the president-deep seated, seething, vile-filled hate, from these folks many of whom I believe very much to be uneducated, un-intelligent and crude if I might add. Yet he's only been president a little over a year with so much to handle at a go. As a person of color, I live with such Bigotry every day. Unfortunately, same attitude is being projected to the rest of the world hence its impact on our image abroad. Would say my prayers as always for the country and the president. Can only hope things get better.

Carli   June 6th, 2010 3:57 pm ET

this did not answer my question at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carli   June 6th, 2010 3:58 pm ET

thanx though

Carli   June 6th, 2010 3:58 pm ET

you didnt really answer my question

Alfredo   June 6th, 2010 8:12 pm ET

This comment is for the guy who wrote about the Comming Resignation of Barack Obama, I believe that he is just jelous and don't know what he is talking about. What would you have done different if you were on Barack Obama's shoes. bla bla bla.

rod   June 6th, 2010 8:42 pm ET

It was interesting to note how Spike Lee urged Obama to get vocal with BP the other day, as in "show a bit of passion!" To those of us fortunate enough not to have been born American, statements such as Spikes prove just how geocentric American citizens have become. You litrerally have to step in it (on your door step) before "you the sheeple" care to even comment – let alone act. Now, without responding in anger, take a look around our precious plant, get angry about American foriegn policy together with the destruction, famine and human misery that results. It's been muted one solution to the oil slick is to bomb it..........well, you've bombed everthing else on this planet that has a pulse, "so go ahead... make my day, the American way!"

Carla   June 7th, 2010 8:53 am ET

Obama = Jimmy Carter
I voted for both....I'm sorry for my mistake!!

DB   June 7th, 2010 4:42 pm ET

So where are all the people who chanted 'Drill Baby Drill'? Are they helping with the clean up? I love when I pass a BP gas station and see it empty with no customers. Hopefully one day all gas stations will be empty. 🙂

Laurie   June 7th, 2010 9:39 pm ET

There will not be enough government safe guards that could make the oil men more responsible. Accidents happen. So what is our answer? Maybe criminal charges? Then maybe the powers to be who benefit from it's profits think long and hard about the risks, especially if their freedom depends on it.

Margot707   June 9th, 2010 12:30 am ET

I can't believe there are still some idiots asking to see Obama's birth certificate. HOW MANY TIMES does he have to present the same document? The State of Hawaii has even passed a "cease and desist" law forcing people to pay a steep fee and have a LEGITIMATE reason to request a birth certificate. These wing nuts just can't get over the fact that a black man got elected.

diana-NY   June 10th, 2010 4:27 pm ET

What, no more screams of "drill baby drill"?

diana-NY   June 10th, 2010 4:32 pm ET

BP should be heavenly fined, with the money going toward renewal energy.

Laura Andlauer   June 10th, 2010 6:02 pm ET

@William Propsner-just your opinion-remember this is still America and I can exercise my right to object to your comments strenuously but still you have the right to state your opinion. Just keep it from getting vicious and refrain from personal attacks. Respect the office of the President of the United States.
