I LOVE LEE!! It's been a joy watching a fellow Chicagoan win....he truly truly deserves it and I just don't know what I am going to do each week without him on my tv screen!! I'm 30 but every time I see him I feel like a giddy 13 yr old....he is awesome

The night of the finale, CNN showed a promo for Larry King Live. I was taping the show and watching CNN to follow the oil spill crisis. Instead of saying that the winner of Idol would be on the show Friday night, LK said that " Idol winner Lee DeWyze" would be on the show, and there was a photo of Lee on the screen. Why would you show this "spoiler" when the program was not over in California? This completely ruined it for me and I'm sure a lot of other people. We "West Coasters" have learned not to go on the internet because of the possibility of seeing the outcome of a show before it has ended, especially award shows such as the Oscars and Emmys. But it never occurred to me that CNN would completely disregard the people in other time zones just to be able to get the jump on the other networks, and be able to say they already booked an interview. I would like to know if this was some sort of programming error, or what I'm pretty certain was what I just described. Please get back to me with an explanation. Thank you.

They are all excellent entertainers and I am sure all of them will do well in life. I can only wish that I was as fortunate as they are.

Jan Fronk   May 28th, 2010 9:54 pm ET

With all due respect to Lee, all the judges indicated that Crystal won all three rounds of the finale. Their comments to Lee were subdued except for urging him to step up his performances. My question is to Crystal: What do you think happened?

Cathy   May 28th, 2010 9:56 pm ET

@Jan Fronk,
That was the finale. She had not outperformed him all other nights. The previous week, for example, he was stronger than she and that week he received more praise than she.

Elliott Yamin 3rd place season five

Diane in Minneapolis   May 28th, 2010 10:36 pm ET

I think the top two are both winners in terms of opportunity. Crystal will get just as much interest as Lee. Good for all of them. I appreciate Idol because it supports the ARTS and gives people a chance they wouldn't ordinarily have.

I saw a lot of questions for the Idols on these blogs and....unless I missed it........... I didn't hear Larry ask any of them (?) Oh well, maybe Monday.

(Don't get the relevance of having P Presley on the phone but maybe that's just me........)

Debbie Bert   May 28th, 2010 11:24 pm ET

Would love to know if Crystal is getting a recording contract.
Also would love to have Crystal and Lee record a song together.
Their voices really compliment each other!

JoAnne in Centerville Ohio   May 29th, 2010 12:02 am ET

Congratulations to Lee. He certainly handled himself well on
your program tonight Larry. Lee is a class act. He always
had my vote.
I loved all the other contestants too. Each and every one had
so much talent. What a great season! I wll miss watching now
that its over for the year.
Thanks for a wonderful show. It was so good to see them all
together again.

Missy   May 29th, 2010 12:55 am ET

Well, Lee is a talented musician, and no ill will to him, but Crystal is an amazing artist and truly has the gift of music. She sings from her soul and lets you become a part of her life through her music. She is a wonderful storyteller with her songs and even though she was singing cover versions of some of the best known songs, after hearing her sing them they almost had a new meaning. Kudos to all of the contestants for giving it their all and for making this season so enjoyable. My teenage son and I look forward to spending time together watching "Idol", it's a fun time for us. Didi was another favorite of mine and it ws sad to see her leave too soon in the competition. Good luck to all of you and I'm sure you will have success in whatever you do!!

Jesus said, "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone."
Don't think for one minute that "A slight" was not noticed. And, very slick, sliding those intimidating rude questions in on a note of concern. I'm very disappointed in your bias coverage of the contestants of American Idol.

Richard   May 29th, 2010 5:25 am ET

I used to be a fan of Larry King when he invited guests who engaged n discussions and talk about subject matter that makes a difference in the world. With all the chaos and upheaval going on in the the U.S. and the world, why the heck is he inviting people from American Idol ?!
I thought LKL was supposed to be an intelligent talk show ?!
Now it's turning into the talk show version of US magazine, or even worse, an extended talk show version of EW !
Enough of this mindless junk..Invite people who are working tirelessly to fight world hunger, poverty, climate change, corruption, racism, human rights, etc.

Wake up, Larry !

Ted   May 29th, 2010 8:17 am ET

There are much more important news in this world than having 15 blogs with this story.

Following has nothing to do with these idols, but touches more lives negatively.
Seven cargo ships left Istambul heading to GAZA strip to bring emergency and medical supplies to those poor people shut in just like the jews were in their ghettos.
On board are internationally famous people, politicians and TV crews to record the event.
Instead of thanking the generous help, the government of Israel is sending gun boats to stop the help, plan to escort the ships to Israel, unload them and if we can use the past as example, they will keep a great part of the cargo. Past donations of building material was confiscated and used to build israeli settlements.

The passangers will be interned in a warehouse until thrown out.
It seems Israel has no intention to allow a normal life in the GAZA and use any methods, regardless how illegal and ugly it may be, to suppress the palestinians.

All these are being done under our eyes and with the approval of our government. Although Barack Obama promised a change in the relation between the USA and Israel by forcing a settlement of that crises, once elected, President Obama was bought by the jewish interests and forgot many of his promises.

I want to remind all our jewish citizens of all the progroms and the shoah they had to suffer! Did you already forget all those inhuman treatments by the nazis?
Israel learned its methods from the Gestapo and the SS, they treat the local population like you were treated in Russia and Germany.
They do it with your wholehearted support, both financial and political.
Are you not ashamed of yourselves, you still complain about the shoah, but look the other way when jews kill, torture and subjugate other people.

Isn't LarryKingLive one word? It came so automatic, when I said Larry King, the Live jumped onto the end of it. Love his easy, relaxed manner of interviewing. I appreciate his years of service to the country both in giving us information and entertainment. Keep up the good work. We need you.

Program Suggestion: Interview Dr. Jeffrey Long on his book
"Evidence of the Afterlife", along with Bill Mahr, the skeptic. In his research Dr. Long discovered several common denominators in the near-death-experience. He was interviewed on the Today Show in January this year.

Willy   May 29th, 2010 9:21 am ET

Put back the interview with Larry King and Crystal Bowersox. The world should see how Larry King pounded her with questions about her personal life and leading to how it would affect her son. This was awful for her.

Sandy Lincoln NE   May 29th, 2010 9:27 am ET

Leave Casey along about the Mrs. Robertson song! He did a great job with it. Yes he is a very handsome young man but also the most important is –VERY TALENTED!! I was honored to give him my votes during the contest.

Brad   May 29th, 2010 11:22 am ET

I couldn't help but notice the workers doing cleanup on the Louisiana shores. They looked great in their Red, White and Blue treads (cool hats too). They didn't look like they were working very hard.....and what's with the white shoes?
Who's paying for the spiffy new duds?
There are millions of people out of work that would be more than willing to help with this tradgedy. Please....don't give me sparkley clothing.....just an airline ticket.
Sorry.....I'm appalled....again.

Karl Arthur   May 29th, 2010 4:44 pm ET

What's up with Sharon Sheeley's new book "Summertime Blues" ?

Jim   May 29th, 2010 5:35 pm ET

I like to thanks Larry King for interviewing the Top 10 Idols together and giving Idol fans a place to give feedback. The interviews are fair, straight and to the point.

I watched the Idol shows weekly since they trimmed down to the Top 16. Not to discredit Lee, Crystal and the rest of the Top 10 Idols because I think they are all talented, each offer a different style of music and I like all them all, I happen to be a huge fan of Siobhan Magnus. Like what Ellen and Randy said, she has a very unique exciting style and her performances are always different every week. After watching all the performances I really thought Siobhan would be in the finale, if not at least in the Top 3. I think she became the favorite and Top Idol after she sang "Paint It Black" during the Top 12 performances. She had one bad performance after that during the time Usher was the mentor. I think she was criticized and attacked personally by Simon and it was easy to observe that she was really hurt, holding back her tears and taking all the judges criticisms. But her Idol fans still voted for her and she survived being eliminated. I respect her for coming back strong in her next several performances. Like many of her fans I was sad and disappointed when she was eliminated by the nationwide voting after the Top 6 performances. I think her performance "Any Man of Mine" mentored by Shania Twain, was amazing, even all the judges agreed but she was still voted off. Since Idol fans can vote as many times as they want, we voted for Siobhan at least a hundred times that night.

I think the American Idol show nationwide voting and process of elimination has a flaw. During the early process it is based on individual performances. But as the show and process move on, especially if a contestant has made it to the Top 10, each of the contestants has developed a huge fan base and now becomes a fan based contest. If fans of one of the contestants happen to not vote after a performance for whatever reason, that contestant will not get a lot of vote. As it gets nearer to the finale, it becomes more of a popularity contest and not mainly based on individual performances. I don't think it matters at this point what the judges say. Also it seems there are more girls watching the Idol shows than guys so the girls contestants at this point has a disadvantage. I like to ask the Top 10 finalists what they think about the Idol's show nationwide voting and elimination system.
Is the nationwide voting and elimination system fair ?

My second question is for Siobhan. I am one of her thousands if not millions of fans. After she sang "Suspicious Mind"(one of my favorite songs) mentored by Adam Lambert during Elvis week, the judges were split after her performance. I agree with what Ellen and Randy said. Ellen said she looks fabulous and she has a beautiful voice. Randy said that girl can sing. Kara said she was confused. Simon said like she came back in time from the future and her performance was terrible. Simon criticized Siobhan that, that is not her in the real world. Siobhan's comment was that she is not just one type of singer, she just loves to sing. My question for Siobhan is if she has already decided what kind of artist she wants to be or what career she wants to pursue. She has so many talents and I wish her the best. I also wish Lee (2010 American Idol), Crystal and the rest of the Top 10 finalists the best. Now that they have been exposed to millions of fans, it is a huge opportunity that not all young people get.

gerald Jolly   May 29th, 2010 5:41 pm ET

Just imagine how terrible life would be if LKL did'nt keep us informed about the most important things in our life.

Like who won the D W T S contest

Like Lady GAGA latest costumes

Like American Idol's winner for 2010

What would the world be if we did not know about the most important events on Earth.

Who cares about the Oil disaster in the gulf.

Who cares if young Americans are dieying everyday in Afghanistan

Who cares if the fires in California are destroying thousands of hectacres of our land.

Who cares if Goldman Sachs fleeced millions of dollars from unwarry victims.

I's far more important for us to be informed that Michael Jackson's kids are now selling their autographs

It's far more important for us to know that Bret Michaels was saved from death because he wore a bandana and a cowboy hat with a cross on it.

Bu most of all it's the most important bit of news on the planet to know who won the apprentice.

Imagine, just Imagine a world where these important facts did not exist.

Certainly not a world I would want to exist in.

WOW WOW WOW

Lu Silver (Brazil)   May 30th, 2010 5:57 pm ET

Hi Larry.

I loved your show last Friday and also your “connection “ with Didi, better saying with Didi's talent.
It was so so nice to “catch" that moment. Good lucky, Handsome.

Well, my name is Lu Silver , from Sao Paulo – Brazil, and my two questions are for Casey James.

Question # 1
Casey, you are not only a fantastic guitar player but also a fantastic, fantastic singer. Please, don’t be ungrateful to yourself and also to your fans underestimating your talent and your different style of singing. However, if the way you sing is not enough for you, do you plan to get a coach to your voice to becoming a more confident singer?

Question # 2
Casey, would you accept a good opportunity of posing as a model for Calvin Klein brand, for exemplo, or for other fashion brand, considering that you are a musician who looks like a model?

Thank you and sorry about my English.

Season 5 third place was Elliott Yamin

Idzan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia   May 30th, 2010 10:13 pm ET

@Justine

I am feeling what you are feeling. American idoil is the only entertainment programme I watch religiously. I only watch news, talk shows and documentaries like Discovery Channel.
Both Lee and Mamasox are good. Both have good voice. But I want Lee to win tbecause I wanted to see how Chicago looks like since I am gping there next year.
Congrats to both, who will have a good future in front ot them.
Lee, is a very likeable guy. Like Ellen said it feels like I birthed him.
It's got to do with being raised well. It seems Mount Prospect, an inner suburb of Chi-Town is a good place to raise kids.
That explains his good-natured personality.

Joy   May 30th, 2010 10:31 pm ET

Casey, your fans think of you as both as vocalist and musician.
Have you accepted the fact yet that you are also a great vocalist?

So many people are inspired by your voice Casey!

Patti   May 31st, 2010 12:02 am ET

Casey's fans think he has an awesome voice too. Why does he think he's not really a vocalist? He is a great one, love his voice as much as his guitar playing! His voice is unique, not one of the "generic" voices out there.

Angela   May 31st, 2010 12:17 am ET

The movie was Beauty in Trouble.

PJ   May 31st, 2010 12:29 am ET

Hi Larry, I'm PJ from Philippines 22 years old. Ever since I watched Casey on Idol, I never forget to catch a glimpse on his rings! I find it really cool and unique. Can he tell something about those rings, why does he keep on wearing them and what are those for? Does it have anything to do with his guitar playing??

Richard   May 31st, 2010 12:49 am ET

I totally agree with Gerald Jolly.

I and many of my friends simply cannot understand why Larry King and his crew have to allocate one hour of valuable CNN air time to a show dedicated to American Idol or Dancing With The Stars ?!
Instead of leveraging the power of media, TV, and live dialogue to tackle the topics that really matter..like the Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster caused by BP, the humanitarian convoy ship being hijacked and attacked by Israeli Defense Forces, which results in 32 wounded and 2 casualties, the stupid Arizona immigration law which makes us the joke of the world, etc..we waste precious CNN resources, air time,
and media power on mindless junk which should be last thing on the minds of intelligent and responsible Americans.

CNN..I love all your shows, especially those like in your International Edition. Please act now to change the LKL content to make it worthy to
be on an outstanding news program like CNN !

Eve   May 31st, 2010 12:51 am ET

Hello, wanted to ask Casey this question for a long time! What is his ideal girl?????? Now that his career is starting, does he have time for a love life? He said in an interview that he's looking for the right woman to spend his life with.Is he looking now???

Line   May 31st, 2010 12:54 am ET

I have a question for Casey:
1. Out of the 9 finalists, who does he gets along well a lot??
2. What song did he wish he sang that one of the other finalists sang?

Wombat   May 31st, 2010 2:02 am ET

Hello! My question is for Casey. I know that he was involved in theatre during high school and was curious as to what roles he played/what plays he was involved in. Also, does he like live theatre? Any favourite plays or playwrights?

And I'd also like to wish Casey a very Happy Birthday!

Terri Newton   May 31st, 2010 4:21 am ET

Hi Larry. I have a question for Casey James,

I read that you grew your hair out so you could donate it to Locks Of Love for cancer patients. Is this accurate? I love that you did that but would you consider keeping your hair like it is for awhile? Your music is foremost ofcourse but the hair is part of your trademark now. I bet some fans would be willing to donate hair for you or you could have a benefit concert for the cancer patients.

I would like Casey to know that he has a lot of fans MALE and female OF ALL AGES ( you even have international fans who couldn’t vote) ; please remember that you are a SINGING musician...we LOVE YOUR SOULFUL SOUTHERN ROCKIN' VOICE as much as your playing...

btw, how many/which instruments can you play? At what age did you start playing? Which came first – singing or playing instruments? How old were you when you first joined a band?

Remember stars like Usher and Bret Michaels believe in you too. Casey and Bret – the most exciting moment for me on Idol EVER! ***Has it really sunk in yet that you have a video with Bret Michaels that is currently in the Top 10 videos at Itunes?

Do you think you might do Jealous Guy, Hold On I'm Coming, Gravity and the duet with Mike on the tour? What's the story about the cool ring you wear up high on your finger? Are you tired of our questions yet lol?

We look forward to hearing more music from you. Will you work on your album doing the tour? Is this your best birthday ever? Hope so.
I promise – no more questions ( at least for now)!

Larry, CONGRATULATIONS on the 25th anniversary of your show from Casey's Crew 🙂

Casey James Rocks!

Cyd   May 31st, 2010 4:28 am ET

Re: Question for Casey:
I adore all of your performances on American Idol, and the videos from your homecoming are too amazing to describe! You rocked the Keyes!! Totally love your guitar playing AND your voice! I've purchased ALL your songs on ITunes, including 'Blue Skies' which has become one of my favorites. So what happened during Sinatra night when you sang that song? Harry Connick Jr said, "You nailed that during rehearsals!" But I have a feeling something happened that you haven't talked about.

Cyd   May 31st, 2010 4:50 am ET

For all the contestants:
What do you think about the 90 second time limit to perform your song? Casey said in an interview that it tears the soul of out most songs, and others have commented as well, including Lee.

And, what do you think of the list of songs available to perform? Aaron said the list was much shorter than the viewing public has been led to believe. How difficult is it to get a song approved that is not on the list?

Third, how difficult is it to represent who you truly are as an artist with the theme nights chosen by AI? Do you think this format should be changed?

Theresa Shocklet   May 31st, 2010 5:58 am ET

What kind of books does Casey like to read?

Paula   May 31st, 2010 6:48 am ET

Happy Birthday Casey!! Question for Casey – Which other language do you wish you could speak?

cj14u   May 31st, 2010 7:00 am ET

My question is for Casey and I haven't been able to find the answer anywhere in any interview, so please ask him for me!

Where did you learn to play the guitar? Are you self taught or formally trained? Can you read music?

Also, please tell him he has a great voice and his fans love it as much as his exceptional guitar skills. He has two great skills!

Audrey   May 31st, 2010 8:48 am ET

Congratulations, Larry on yr 25th anniversary.
This is for Casey James from Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA.
Don't be modest and believe that you are just a Musician. You play a mean guitar, guaranteed but you have good vocals too. You can sing and you can dance. We'd like to see you next on DWTS.

We'd like you to visit MALAYSIA-there are fans here who share your music genre and if you need help in organizing a concert, just email me and I'll get you hooked up to the right sources.
No questions for you, Casey–don't want o embarrass you. We'll save that for when you come to visit us here. Looking forward to your updates of yr music career, yr love life, and more about you.

Danice   May 31st, 2010 9:31 am ET

My question and comment is for Casey:

Casey, I and many others LOVE your voice and your are an awesome singer! That bluesy edge rocks. Don't underestimate your singing ability because your fans surely do not. You are the total package of talent, personality, professionalism and staying true to yourself. We love your music...all of it. You are a great guitar player but your vocals are incredibly touching.

Question: Would you please quit saying you are not a singer but a musician? You are BOTH.

Eli Gershman   May 31st, 2010 10:00 am ET

By inserting an inflatable cylinder into the pipe and pumping air into it
to fully expand it.

Luciana   May 31st, 2010 3:01 pm ET

This question id for Casey: Has all the focus on your extreme hotness been a help or a hindrance in your American Idol experience and how will it effect your future in the music business.

The Hired Guns Band - Ft Worth, TX   May 31st, 2010 5:39 pm ET

This question is to Casey James for Monday night's show: Casey.... I suppose this means that you'll want more money to fill in with the bands back home now??? LOL

Seriously though... You showed the world just how much of a talent you really are and made all of us North Texas musicians proud. Good luck on what promises to be an incredible journey.

Sammy Roberts
The Hired Guns Band
Fort Worth, Texas.

lrarkus   May 31st, 2010 5:44 pm ET

These questions are for Casey:

1. Are you still scheduled to perform on the David Letterman show? If
so do you know when?

2. I don't see you as a trendy POP artist. I heard you say your 1st album would be crossover. I see so many different genres you could engage-blues, southern rock or a country bluesy musician. What do you feel you would be the most successful & happiest doing?

3, Not a question-but a very heartfelt HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISH!!!!

Maria   May 31st, 2010 6:31 pm ET

Unfortunately, like last year, the real winner should have been Adam but he was gay. Same thing this year, single mom with lip pierce and she was be the best of the two but No can't let that happen. Pretty unfair to me.

Sharon   May 31st, 2010 6:49 pm ET

I just have a comment instead of a question.....Casey James' duet with Bret Michaels was the best EVER on idol, and it was not just because of Bret (whom I have loved forever!) but Casey kicked butt. Much luck to Casey, I hope and pray he is signed and comes out with a CD soon!!

lrarkus   May 31st, 2010 7:29 pm ET

More questions for Casey please-

1. Has any of the former AI winners or contestants reached out to you and offered any advice?

2. Once you are signed will your brother have to audition before he can be in your band?

3. I saw a video of you & your mother singing wayfaring stranger during your homecoming visit. It was a very moving performance. So now you can add Blue Grass to your repertoire. Is this a song you would ever do during a concert? I loved it..

b   May 31st, 2010 7:52 pm ET

hey casey, what kind of books do you like to read, I am an avid reader and love all kinds. what is your fave?

H.Gunnar   June 1st, 2010 5:10 am ET

Best Larry!
Your are the best. Don't You think it would have been appropriate to have brought up ISRAEL(Jewish) murders on international waters?

Preston Petty   August 9th, 2010 10:26 pm ET

I think Simon Cowell should be replaced by Adam Lambert–add some flare and drama to the show!
