Bristol Palin: Levi Johnston is 'a stranger to me'

Posted: 11:52 AM ET

by Suzanne Zuckerman

As a single mom to baby Tripp and the new owner of her own Anchorage condo, Bristol Palin has become domestic. But when the 19-year-old mentions "dirty laundry," what she's referring to is her past with Tripp's father, Levi Johnston.

"He is a stranger to me," Palin tells Harper's Bazaar for its June/July issue about her former fiancé – whose public behavior, including posing for Playgirl, she claims to ignore.

For now, there is only one man in Palin's life: 17-month-old Tripp. Still, the young mom does express hope about finding a partner, saying, "One day I will find a nice guy."

Recalling the painful confession about her condition to her parents in the middle of the 2008 presidential campaign, the teen says, "I remember sitting on the couch with one of my best friends and Levi, and I just couldn't spit it out. I was like, 'Mom, Mom.' I was bawling my eyes out. She was like, 'What’s wrong?' And I was like, 'I'm pregnant.' And she was like … Oh my God. Holy crap."

Bristol, Like you're really not going to like write a book like are you?

Likw, I've heard about no-talent like people like writing a book, for instance like you mother did.

But like, I think you really ought to like go and take some english lessons, like before you atempt doing that like.

I think like you should like take care of your child and stay in your new condo, like your mom bought for you and like forget about book writing.

If you're really serious about finding like a new boyfriend, like you should like learn about preventative methods to have like safe sex.

Am sick of the sordid, sleezy and sloppiness of the Palins..... And they wanted to be America's first family? Perfect example to teenagers and people in general? No comparison to the Obamas! Palins are just after fame. The name now turn my stomach.

@gerald Jolly.
like most time you come up with these terrific posts. I couldn't help but laugh.
you said what most feel. It is unfortunate for this country that the likes of Sarah Palin are considered good enough to get air time & to be heard at national level. Really unfortunate.

Bristol Palin is a copy of her mother dearest seeking publicity and getting air time. What's wrong with our media ? Bristol's family needs to spend quality time home instead going after poor Levi. Why don't they go sip tea and raise the two babies quietly than going on there bandwagon of utter rubbish. The Palin's are your typical dysfunctional family given a voice on Comedy Central but a disgrace to the Republican party a total misjudgement by the McCain camp. Bristol wants child support ,full custody and plenty of media's attention. Bristol is another statistic who fell into the crack because of her family life that is very economical with facts and truth ,extremely manipulative people .
Poor, poor Tripp and Levy ..... this is going to be a nasty, nasty battle after all Bristol is like mummy's and has well paid lawyers all pathetically seeking publicity.
Holy crap Bristol, little Tripp needs a hockey daddy. Bristol needs to grow up and get real first ! with her mom she sure won't .

If a kid who was paralyzed from a accident after driving drunk spoke out again teenage drinking you wouldn't think he was a hipocrite. Just giving a public service. It's the same here. She's telling girls this is what she did and here's the consequences of it.

If anyone is being a hipocrite it's the Liberals as the Gulf oil spill shows. George Bush was attacked for being slow to respond after five days. Obama has taken over a month. He was more concerned with raising money in California than solving the Gulf problem. But I guess that's okay. After all, he is the Messiah.

And just how does a 19-year-old buy herself a condo? Oh, that's right: Mom still has some money left from kickbacks or however they got their money. Living in a million-dollar home? On Todd's salary – even added to the governor's salary? Why doesn't Mouthy Martha stay home – since she's so big on "family values" – and take care of her mentally challenged son?? Ghads, i wish the woman would fall into a glacier!

Cindy   May 27th, 2010 12:12 am ET

Well said. What is the point of criticizing this young girl. And then to stoop so low to say "stay home and take care of her mentally challenged son." What next? Some need someone to watch over them as they are obviously mentally challenged.

gerald Jolly   May 27th, 2010 7:11 am ET

@ SDonline.

I'm trying to figure out when President Obama became the mesiah, did he talk to GOD like George the BUSHWACKER claimed to have done ever morning.

It is obvious you dont like our President, but to claim that he could wave his hand over the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and make everything right.

Sorry but, that feat must be left to more GODLIKE persons like the man who waved his hand over Katrina and made everything right,

By the way, your time span over the BUSHWACKER and KATRINA took much more than a month, and flying over the devestation of Katrina in a Helicopter and waving at the suffering people below, JUST DOES'NT CUT IT.

Bristol, that stranger dud sure got past your guard and got into your pants at a most unexpected time.
Did you never hear of likes like contraceptives?

gerald Jolly   May 27th, 2010 9:09 am ET

@ Cindy.

Just to bring you up to date.

Bristol's child TRIPP is not mentally challenged.

It's Sarah Palin, the FLYING ANIMAL KILLER that has a son that is mentally challenged.

Cindy   May 27th, 2010 1:59 pm ET

@Gerald Jolly,
Thanks; yes I knew that. I basically wrapped a response to two comments into one and realize it appeared all of my comments were directed toward Bristol. Like Sarah Palin or not, it speaks more about ourselves than her when we make a comment such as "she should stay home and take care of her mentally challenged son." Perhaps saying "stay home and take care of her children" would have served the blogger's purposes but no, she chose to portray herself as something less honorable than the person she detests.

Bristol Palin is earning $30,000 per speech. So far, including the money paid to her for photos by People magazine, her take is well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. How many single teen mothers, with only a high school education and no qualifications can command a $30,000 fee?

Being Sarah Palin's daughter and getting pregnant has been very profitable for this 19 year old. Cashing in on mistakes, ignorance and irresponsibility (such as not using contraceptives or quitting on the electorate) has proven to be lucrative for both Palins. A mixed message that drowns their "advocacy" for their well paid causes.

Karen   June 1st, 2010 9:00 am ET

If her mom wasn't Sarah Palin, Bristol wouldn't have anything and certainly no press. She keeps talking as if the baby's father will have nothing to do with the baby. Uh, whatever happened to what's best for the child and having a meaningful relationship with BOTH parents? Just who does this Bristol think she is...a princess? What does she mean the father is a stranger to her? What kind of crazy mentality is that? Levi is the child's father spoiled Bristol needs to get over it.

Jason   September 16th, 2010 4:50 pm ET

Some of you guys are really pathetic. Let's put politics aside for a minute. This is a teenage mother that is raising a baby without a father. She didn't ask her mother to run for president or her boyfriend and baby's father to get caught up in the hype and run to Hollywood tp pose for playgirl. This was a girl that lived in Alaska and had a high school boyfriend and made a mistake. Of course at her age and with people pulling her a million different ways trying to further their political careers and trying to profit from her. She is going to make mistakes just as we all have and will continue to do. Some of these posts disgust me. I never comment on these stories but felt inclined after seeing such foul and childish responses. I would hope that this wouldn't happen to any of my children or yours. It's an overused phrase but is needed here. GET A LIFE!!!!!
