Bench Warrant Issued for 'Deadliest Catch' Star

Posted: 09:56 AM ET

Deadliest Catch star Jake Harris is now among the hunted.

Harris failed to appear at a hearing Wednesday in his reckless driving case "so the court issued a bench warrant for his arrest," King County, Wash., prosecutor spokesman Dan Donohoe tells PEOPLE. The bail amount on the warrant is $500.

"Jake just made a mistake on his scheduling," his attorney, Ed Ritter, told PEOPLE on Wednesday. "We plan on going in tomorrow at 2 p.m. to clear it all up."

Harris, 24, whose father Capt. Phil Harris died from complications of a stroke on Feb. 9, has been formally charged with reckless driving and driving with a suspended license. If convicted, he faces a maximum of a year and three months in jail.

A memorial to honor Phil Harris is planned for the second annual Deadliest Catch fanfest, known as CatchCon, in Seattle on April 30.

Because if it's someone who is dealing with the death of their father and having to watch him back on TV as he just passed away in Feb 2010. It makes for good news for the media outlets.

There isn't too many states or counties for that fact in washington that would send someone over to pick him up and take him into King County but then again he's a Discovery Celebrity.

Our judicial system is a mess and barbaric. Up the financial penalties, if necessary, but remove the ridiculous prison threats for non-violent crime. We have 5% of the world's population and 25% of the world's prison population. Just plain ignorant to have a business that just turns out convicts by title only. We are a nation of government abused citizens...whether you like to hear it or not. Yet, we will listen to the twisted opinions like Limpbawl...the Imp-Paled one..the neo-nuts O'Hand-it-to-me..O'-un-Really..."Beckon to me, and others on 360 degree one-way flight paths to no where and allow them to incite this country to believe we need more just like them...and more laws to incarcerate more of us... Silly human race... .

Wow, call Five-Oh, criminal on the lam in the Ocean. Call out SWAT to snatch him off his fishing vessel! Is'nt it innocent until PROVEN guilty? In Mexico it's GUILTY until proven he is innocent, perhaps someone got their country's mixed up here!

We're fortunately Dick Cheney is no longer in public office, he likely would have called in the Coast Guard to pluck him off his fishing ship to the tune of 1 million taxpayer dollars!

How can we ever thank the news media enough for airing this story.

This criminal, only outdone by Al Capone and Machine Gun Kelly, is a serious threat to the world.
