November 20, 2009 DWTS Judge Carrie Ann Inaba!Posted: 04:25 PM ET
Programming note: Tune in to LKL tonight to see the Dancing With The Stars finalists talk about the season and who they think will end up with the disco ball trophy this year. Join Tom Bergeron, Carrie Ann Inaba, Donny Osmond, Mya and Kelly Osborne – plus their partners and a surprise performance! Only on Larry King Live at 9pm ET/6pm PT... Hi Everyone, It’s me, Carrie Ann Inaba from Dancing with the Stars and now TV GUIDE NETWORK as well!!! Hope all is going well in your lives. Whew…it’s been quite a season on DWTS with all the new added elements and the added number of contestants! I really have to say congratulations to all the competitors this season because I definitely think that it has been the most grueling season ever! Our stars have had to do so much more than previous years and I am impressed with the spirits of everyone who is still in the game. This is not a season for the weak – that’s for sure. There have been so many twists and turns and we are now down to the wire. With Mya, Donny & Kelly left in the running – I think it’s going to be a tight race. They are all there for such different reasons – Kelly has won the hearts of the audience and she has a special spark out there that is unmatched by any other competitor. Mya is an elegant, graceful and super sexy dancer that has all the right moves; and Donny – who doesn’t love themselves a Donny Osmand performance? Most of us grew up with him in our living rooms. It’s anyone’s disco ball at this point – and that freestyle is coming up. You know we’ve seen people lose it in their freestyle – so keep your socks on and enjoy the final nights of competition!
I want to talk about something very important and dear to my heart…. I know there’s a lot of dance lovers out there and people who want to support the arts so now, since it is disappearing in so many ways, I wanted to share with you more about The Dizzy Feet Foundation (DFF) and ways that you can help to the future dancers of the world. I am one of the cofounders of The Dizzy Feet Foundation, along with Nigel Lithgoe, Adam Shankman and Katie Holmes. We started this foundation because we all wanted to give back to the community that had given us all so much. DFF is a non-profit organization for the dance community that is providing scholarships and assistance to talented, underserved youth to help them realize their dreams of becoming professional dancers. We are also working to create awareness about the positive impact that dance – and creative pursuits in general can have on the growth and development of our nation’s youth. It’s a foundation that means so much to me on such a personal level and we have had incredible support from so many people in the industry and beyond, that it is truly inspiring. Dance has been so important in my life – it taught me everything that has enabled me to be who I am today. I learned how to work hard for my dreams; I learned how to take care of myself, my spirit and my body. I learned how to let go and be free in the dance. I learned how to communicate in ways sometimes more effective than words alone. I learned how important it is to listen to my body – to be intuitive – to be compassionate – to be true to myself. I also learned how to express myself. I learned that I was strong, that my personal expression was unique and important. All these things have helped me to be who I am today. And this is what we are trying to give back to our future generations. With arts being taken away from school curriculums, it is vital to create other ways to give our youth opportunities to find and learn dance. We are doing our first-ever GALA at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on November 29th, 2009. It will be a night or dancing, performing, auctions and a lot of fun. And it’s all to support our cause in helping young people realize their dreams. To learn more about the event (including how to get tickets), our organization or to make a tax-deductible donation, go to our website: www.dizzyfeetfoundation.org. Oh, and by the way, it looks like Cheryl Burke & Gilles Marinia and the Ballas Hough Band are also going to be performing at the gala! I am also involved with Clothes Off Our Back – please go to www.clothesoffourback.org and bid on a unique Dancing with the Stars package! This organization is great and proceeds go to help children’s charities. I can’t wait to see you at the gala…and don’t forget – season 10 of DWTS is just around the corner!
