Polanski reportedly finishing film from prison cell

By Jack Melvern via The Times of London

art_polanskiportrait_giRoman Polanski is putting the finishing touches to his forthcoming film from his prison cell in Switzerland, his friend and colleague Robert Harris said yesterday at The Times Cheltenham Literature Festival.

Harris, who wrote the screenplay for the film, said that the director is making decisions about The Ghost so that it will be ready for its scheduled premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in February. Polanski, who is fighting extradition to America where he is wanted for raping a 13-year-old girl in 1977, recently gave instructions about the film score to Alexandre Desplat, the composer best known for writing music for The Queen and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

The director, 76, was arrested in Zurich on September 26 after 31 years on the run from the American authorities. He admitted having sex with Samantha Gailey, a model he hired for a photoshoot, but jumped bail in February 1978 when he discovered that he would face a lengthy prison sentence despite negotiating a plea bargain. Harris, who was in Cheltenham to publicise his book Lustrum, said that The Ghost would be completed in accordance with Polanski’s wishes. The director had finished editing the film, which stars Pierce Brosnan as a British prime minister accused of war crimes, on the day of his arrest.

As a young girl/woman growing up in the West Hollywood area of LA I experienced so much pressure from "photographers" to pose nude. What a joke, all they wanted was sex from me. I was a tad older than 13, I was 15 when this was going on, and fortunately I had enough street sense to get it.

One time a "photographer" got me into his "lair", immediatly stripped naked and asked me to do the same, with the promise of "really good drugs" if I complied. I was scared, I asked permission to leave. I had to hitchhike home.

The sex trade has been and is still very much alive where young women desire to be "stars".

Hollywood should be ashamed of themselves for supporting this child-rapist. It just shows that the morals of most people in Hollywood is in the toilet. Polanski shoud serve the same time in prison anyone else would convicted of raping a 13 year-old girl and giving her drugs. he is a despicable person and anyone supporting him is equally despicable. Woody Allen, are you listening????????

Unbelievable! He pled guilty and Hollywood thinks he should not be punished now. No telling how many other girls he raped in Europe.
On the other hand, Michael Jackson pled innocent, was aquited (sp?) and many people in Hollywood turned their backs on him.
MJ was a phenomenal performer but I think one of the reasons he has received so many accolades is because of a collective "guilt" over the way he was treated.
Polanski is guilty and should be extradited and punished.
