Jaycee Dugard opens up after 18-year kidnapping ordeal

Posted: 11:44 AM ET

NOTE: We'll be discussing this TONIGHT on LKL – we've got Jaycee's spokesperson on the show – let us know what you want to hear from her!

The first images are emerging of an adult Jaycee Dugard, the woman who was kidnapped when she was 11 and allegedly held captive for 18 years by a couple in an elaborate compound hidden in the backyard.

Dugard is featured on the cover of the new issue of People magazine, smiling brightly in the photo, her face framed by long brown hair.

"I'm so happy to be back with my family," Dugard told the magazine.

She lives in seclusion with her mother Terry Probyn and her two daughters, who police say were fathered by her captor Phillip Garrido. Video Watch how Jaycee Dugard is adjusting »

"They live a surprisingly normal life, considering the circumstances," said Terry Probyn's stepmother, Joan Curry, according to the magazine.

Dugard spends her time riding horses and cooking and is considering collaborating on a book, People reported.

Garrido and his wife are accused of abducting Dugard in 1991 from a bus stop near her home in South Lake Tahoe, California, and keeping her in the compound behind their home in Antioch, California.

How are Jaycees children adjusting? Did they know Jay-cee was their mother prior to Garrido's arrest?

Hello Sir!
Thank you for the news at Rick Sanchez shows (done by Don Lemon) about the attractive white models being painted black to make a popular show. I really can’t find any rationale behind this act. Instead of hiring black or brown models they are painting white models to black or brown. Do these painted models look better than the original black or brown model? It’s ridiculous.

But my views are different. The Ad agency or Modeling Agency needs to change their definition of beauty or attractiveness. In the larger world the definition of beauty has already changed and it has already reflected in various beauty Pageants like Miss. Universe and Miss World contest. The international beauty contest has already changed their views of beauty long time ago by crowning beautiful women of all colors and races. I consider these beauty pageant people as wise and knowledgeable. How much time these modeling agencies will take to change their ideas of beauty?

Not hiring black, brown or yellow models and by painting white models to black color shows not only lack of esthetic sense but also lack of human consciousness and intelligence. The Agencies might argue that they go by commercial trend or commercial viability. But, apart from profitability all agencies should have responsibilities to define beauty in the right manner. The International Beauty Pageant has already showed the way in the right direction.

Every individual in the world has their own definition of beauty. I have nothing to say against individual’s choice and individual definition. But not able to identify beauty in all skin colors is not only the regression of human civilization but also an insult to human consciousness and human being’s precious intelligence. How long times do we more need to rectify our perception?
A wrong perception is a wrong perception even though majority people believed in that perception.
Thank you.

How did she live through that and come out of it, the way she did. I wonder.
