Jon & Kate Gosselin head to arbitration over money

Posted: 08:16 AM ET

Attorneys for Jon and Kate Gosselin will meet Tuesday with a court-appointed arbitrator to hammer out the economic issues in their contentious divorce.

Kate, who is seeking child and spousal support, has accused Jon of taking $230,000 from the family account.

Jon denies the withdrawals were inappropriate and wants Kate to account for more than $100,000 she withdrew.

"There are two sides to every story," Jon's attorney Mark Heller tells PEOPLE in a statement.

If the reality TV pair with eight kids resolves the financial dispute privately, they could avoid a hearing before a Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, judge. Kate's attorney, Mark Momjian, had requested the emergency hearing, seeking to force Jon to return the money.

The arbitration comes as heated relations between the Gosselins seem to have cooled slightly. Jon spent a quiet weekend at their Wernersville, Penn, home, carving pumpkins with the kids and hanging with his pal, Michael Lohan, father of Lindsay Lohan.

Am I the only one that has had enough of these people? Forget the money, worry about the children and what all this is doing to them. They need to stop the reality show and get real about what is going on in their lives. Children find divorce difficult and I can't imagine having camera's around all the time is making it any eaiser for them.

I wish TLC would cancle their show it's been nothing but a detrement to thier family . Fame and fortune has ruined a perfectly good family before thier ego's got in the way .Jon's pal Micheal Lohan oh that's good judgment !

This whole mess is already affecting the Gosselin children badly..they are breaking down with anger and becoming abusive towards their other siblings at a very young age. One little boy was shown pummeling his little brother on the ahead on one entertainment show and on the Insider Show, it showed one of the Gosselin girls ran by her brother and hit her brother hard on the head while he was sitting on the floor playing. She was was having temper tantrums.

TJ That's just some more bull from Jon and the media. These children are just behaving like ALL children do. Kids fight, kids cry, not everything is about Jon or Kate. Now why does everyone have to put a spin on everything? Quit putting the public and the media's opinion into everything the children say and do. Please let them be kids and not make a big deal out of everything. Stop already!

Who watches this show? ...and other family reality shows like 30 kids & counting and kardashians and the joes next door and leave it to camel and blah blah blah.. These people's lives are the least interesting to me. I would rather watch Andrew Zimmern eat funky foods. I couldn't help but watch a clip from John's interview with some network (I lost track since he did 20+ interviews in a month). He said something about he was a public figure and that he needed to appologize to his public...haha...then he said he only took $20K+ from their joined bank account but now the judge ordered him to return $230,000. This guy should be roasted and hung like peking duck!
