Limbaugh blasts Nobel Prize decision

Posted: 03:34 PM ET

By Jonathan Martin via Politico

art.obamageneric.giConservatives pounced on the the Nobel Prize committee's decision to award President Barack Obama the Nobel Peace Prize, with talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh calling it a "greater embarrassment" than losing the Olympics.

"This fully exposes the illusion that is Barack Obama," Limbaugh told POLITICO in an e-mail. "And with this 'award' the elites of the world are urging Obama, THE MAN OF PEACE, to not do the surge in Afghanistan, not take action against Iran and its nuclear program and to basically continue his intentions to emasculate the United States."

Limbaugh continued: "They love a weakened, neutered U.S, and this is their way of promoting that concept. I think God has a great sense of humor, too."

The Nobel award comes a week to the day after Obama's personal pitch for the 2016 Olympics in Chicago was rejected by the International Olympic Committee.

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele echoed the view: “The real question Americans are asking is, ‘What has President Obama actually accomplished?’ It is unfortunate that the president’s star power has outshined tireless advocates who have made real achievements working towards peace and human rights. One thing is certain — President Obama won’t be receiving any awards from Americans for job creation, fiscal responsibility, or backing up rhetoric with concrete action.”

“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists — the Taliban and Hamas this morning — in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize,” wrote DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse. “Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize — an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride — unless of course you are the Republican Party. The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It’s no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it’s an embarrassing label to claim.”

Limbaugh deserves the GW Bush "Hall of Shame" award – a pair of shoes thrown at him.

Yes, Obama deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for promoting the use diplomatic and peaceful channels globally before resorting to other options. As the leader of the free world, Obama's approach is greatly welcomed over the violence and lack of judgement displayed by the last Republican Administration. The damage caused and left behind by Bush cannot be rectified with more killing and trigger-happy policies. This award is a strong rebuke of the Bush Administration and its severe failings.

Being a candidate for a Nobel Peace Prize says it all. The" people that matter" recognize greatness. For the rest of us...we should "shut up" and WAIT.........In the meantime, LISTEN....and OFFER ENCOURAGEMENT to our leader. Even a goose knows enough to keep honking when the goose at the head of the V-formation needs encouragement. ALL TOGETHER NOW....Congratulations Pres. Obama. Please don't quit now.

Jeri   October 9th, 2009 4:16 pm ET

Congratulations to President Obama for winning the Nobel Peace Prize. It is a positive reflection internationally and says that many in the world community respect his efforts.

Terrie   October 9th, 2009 4:21 pm ET

Instead of yapping and criticizing President Obama, Rush Limbaugh needs to get off his FAT BUTT and try to help this country get back on its feet by doing something very positive! I am so sick of this fat Limbaugh for being so negative and thinks he knows it all! What has he done to help this country instead of opening his big fat mouth!!!

He is just so jealous because we have an Afro American president who is trying so hard to get us back on the right track after 8 disastrous years of Bush Administration and won the Nobel Peace Prize. Has Limbaugh won anything prestigious and highest honor in his life!!!

James Sibley   October 9th, 2009 4:31 pm ET

It’s disturbing to hear many of the reactions to the announcement that President O’Bama has been deemed the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Many say that he has not proven himself worthy because he hasn’t accomplished anything noteworthy as president to date. This seems to also be the stance of the RNC Chairperson who strongly echoed a similar sentiment. The underlying message, which seems to be missed by those taking this stance, is that success is as much about “process” as it is outcome. To extend the proverbial olive branch is as important (if not more so) as its acceptance. In a results oriented culture, outcome often supersedes process – which supports an “any means necessary” mentality and encourages blatant acts of corruption and violence. I believe we should be indeed thankful that we now have a President that has a “presence” and engages in a ‘process’ that support “inclusion in” versus “dominance of” our world community.

eJay   October 9th, 2009 4:50 pm ET

Rush is scum, last week he celebrated America's loss for the Olympic games, now he's crying because an American won the Nobel Peace Prize. Oh I forgot he wants America to fail.

Marian Buettner   October 9th, 2009 4:53 pm ET

Larry, start a new file "Nobel Peace Prize" and do away with the file "Rush Limbaugh". Start a new trend. Lure the public into opening files that they feel has good positive reenforcement. Even the Psychology Profs. have changed their tune and are introducing Positive Psychology for Treatment., to their students. First entry could be Pres. Obama's Acceptance Speech. .....His Call To Action. He got the underlying message, why are we having such a difficult time seeing the good in a USA President's receiving the Nobel Peace Prize? Maybe we need to hear from a Psychology Prof. Just a thought.

Jasmine   October 9th, 2009 4:55 pm ET

The International Noble Peace Prize Committee got this right. President Barack Obama deserved this Nobel Peace Prize. He has worked so hard on everything he sought out to do. Congratulation President Barack Obama. I think you should accept this and don't ever think that you don't deserve it, you are so appreciated for reaching out to everyone in the entire world...We love you...My Mother Susie Carter calls you her son....

SuzieCanada   October 9th, 2009 5:09 pm ET

Just confirms that I've been thinking all along: the US image around the world has improved so much since you guys finally elected the right person for the job. Good on you Mr. Obama! You deserve some recognition, even if it has to come from outside the US.

Michael Millerick   October 9th, 2009 5:09 pm ET

Please REMEMBER that the purpose of the prize as established in the 1800's by Alfred Nobel ( of Norway ) was:

"......the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses".

Throughout Obama's campaign last year he worked boldly, courageously and with great energy to convey his belief and intention to lead our nation away from the 'bullying', "unilateral' and war inclined mentality of the Bush/Republican years and remake our image in the world community as a nation ".... devoted to fraternity between nations."

In his Presidency he has accomplished this and continues to lead and work hard to create an international community of nations who work together through collaboration and diplomacy toward greater fraternity between nations and " the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses".

It is NOT what he has accomplished, it is his 'work' toward the mission of peace through courage, leadership and policies which are largely reviled by conservatives who favor our nation being 'exceptional', above the law, and a bully in the world.........

Rose   October 9th, 2009 5:42 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh seems obsessed with the male phalic. His vocabulary of words such as "emasculate", "neutered" and "embarrassment" coupled with his focus on "weakened" is perhaps a manifestation of his greatest lacking – impotence on both intellectual and moral levels. His hatred of Obama has extended to wanting America to fail. Perhaps he recognizes Obama's fortitude, stamina under pressure and intellectual potency as a threat to his pudgy and malleable stance as the promoter of all things ignorant in America.

Perhaps Limbaugh is just jealous of anyone who is able to achieve that great award, that prize that seems to elude him. The want of something solid, that great surge he refers to. That "whatever" he deems to be are forms of strength in the face of peace – something long and hard like a gun and other weapons of destruction used against other people. He sees strength in that.

Limbaugh and those of his ilk are so limp in their understanding. All he can do is complain about a man who promotes peaceful options. Keep it up Rush, if you can, "you" won't be winning any awards from thinking Americans.

Susan, Vancouver, B.C.   October 9th, 2009 6:11 pm ET

The world was sending a message. I guess some people didn't get it. It really is about diplomacy and cooperation among nations. Would the jealous republicans please stop whining!

hope123   October 9th, 2009 6:33 pm ET

I am so proud of our President way to Go President Obama at-list the other nation notice how great you are GOD bless you . Hope and Change has come to USA

DantheSensibleMan   October 9th, 2009 6:54 pm ET

I think it is extremeley silly to criticize a man or an charitable institution for that matter for giving or accepting an award. I think the award is more about the fact that Obama embodies the values of self-sacrifice in order to affect change for the good in the world that the prize is really all about. I mean Obama's story is amazing and that he was able to affect so much progress in his community and now in his country coming from such modest upbringings is truely Nobel Prize worthy. I know Rush Limbaugh doesn't understand this as he has had most of whatever he would call an accomplishment handed to him on a silver platter. Lambaugh is from a prominent conservative family with several family members who were judges. He dropped out of college after one year and has been able to make millions by saying the most controversial wing nut things he can think of and cashing in on an easily scared, easily angered far right audience and those two things mean for great ratings. So Rush please SHUT UP nobody but your viewers care what you say so save it for the talk show.

CJ   October 9th, 2009 7:01 pm ET

I don't get it. Does this not prove that no matter what Obama does, Republicans are against it?

Obama did not ask for this award, yet it is used as ammunition against him.

I can understand non-US citizens questioning the award. But you'd think American would be proud that they (the President represents them after all) had received this award. I would expect at least some positive bias. But no. It is surprisingly negative.

When the US does not get what it wants abroad, e.g. most recently the Olympics, we're told it's because the world is anti-American.

When the international community acknowledges America, as it has done in an unprecedented way today, we are told they are being condescending.

What's it to be?

Irene, TX   October 9th, 2009 8:06 pm ET

Congratulations, Mr. President and America!

Imagine for a moment if the same sick idiot RL were to learn that Mr. Obama was on the list of nominees but didn't get the award. What would his blabbing be then? Something like "even his socialist-communist-Marxist European friends think he is not worthy...".

RL is one overdosed degenerate. I'm deeply ashamed that he has an audience in the United States. He should be arrested for war mongering, he openly calls for another war overseas, now with Iran, on top of the two we already have, not mentioning the war he is trying to wage on American streets. To follow GOP tradition of labeling, he is GOP's Dr. Goebbels.

WHAT IS THE BIG FUSS OVER 829 BILLION DOLLARS FOR HEALTH-CARE? BACK POCKET CHANGE WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE THREE TRILLION DOLLARS THAT WE GAVE TO THE DEVIL DAMN FRIGGING BANKS. More than equal value will be created in goods and services for every dollar spent on health-care. We need to get off of a gold standard mentality. Article 1, Section 8, of the Constitution provides all the gold mining tools needed. Money
must be created before equal value can be created. Goods and Services is what has real value–not gold and silver as Adam Smith, the Father of Capitalism, tried to point out to the News Media of his time.

Jen   October 9th, 2009 8:34 pm ET

I am very happy for our President and our country.

The president has changed our sullied image of the United States around the world. That is one of the hardest goal to achieve. This country has became so cynical. The republicans are nothing but sore losers who will hate on everything and never appreciate anything the President does. I think it’s an honor that our President won the Nobel peace prize for our country. Obviously the world sees his potential and understands and shares his vision on peace and diplomacy. We don’t have to a bully and war- monger all the time in order to be a leading country. It’s a lot better to have good international relations than to taunt other nations and threaten wars.

I think the Republicans are a mockery!!! They should be ashamed. With their bias opinions towards President Obama without no clear justifications. They are disgusting and shameful. The image they put forth for the world to see is beyond all. The bigots, the wealthy, and the ignorant few, need to go home and pout including the Rush , Glen Beck, Bill O’Reilly and Fox News.

My God! It's our President, Our Country and they're whining about him winning an award for the United States? They are all reprehensible.

Georgie   October 9th, 2009 8:52 pm ET

In only A few months in office, Pres. Obama is awarded Nobel Peace prize! Making us "America the Good" again, after being known as "America the Evil" during Bush's time of 8 years, that in itself confirms it's well- deserved. It makes a lot of sense that all the terrorists and warmongering learders around the world, oppose this award for Obama, but it would be so wrong for any American regardless of they're political views to agree with them, this is a, I will agree ...small, but great victory for the U.S., in my opinion. BTW Campbell Brown should resign CNN and go to FOX, and call her show 'ALL BIAS, ALL BULL!'

Mary   October 9th, 2009 9:09 pm ET

I absolutly believe Pres. Obama deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. I think he has brought about a sense of peace in the world with his presence. I know I sleep better knowing that we have a peaceful warrior as our leader. God Bless the Obama Family.

Dodie ~ California   October 9th, 2009 9:16 pm ET

Congratulations to President Obama. At least the world can see his vision along with his true intelligence and capability.

As for Rush Limbaugh.... Just put him out of his misery and every sniveling person who follows that fool. He is just showing the world his IDIOCY! If it was not so embarrassing, it would be really funny!!!

chaney   October 9th, 2009 9:21 pm ET

Larry...... Last week we had Americans cheering the fact that our President and First Lady were unsuccessful in bringing the Olympics to Chicago.............disgraceful..........this week our President wins the Nobel Peace prize for " his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples to meet global challenges"........and some have the nerve to ask ...if he deserves it......... the Norwegian Commitee doesnt need our permission to award its prizes.........there is a de-legitermizing of the Presidency and I think 24 hour news is the culprit.....

Irene, TX   October 9th, 2009 9:34 pm ET

Dodie – I got it from the message from Suzie that disappeared next minute, namely, she said that she has a dream about RL and Ann C getting married and live happily ever after away from public eye. Chill 🙂

SuzieCanada   October 9th, 2009 9:37 pm ET

Good evening Irene, Dodie,

Dodie, don't worry, I understand what Irene is saying. I posted a comment earlier, something to do with RL marrying AC and living happily ever after ... that post was deleted by the moderator (??). It was obviously a joke and not offensive, but they deleted it anyway. Irene was replying to my post.
I have a lot of respect for the American people since this last election, and so do many of my compatriots.

Dodie ~ California   October 9th, 2009 9:44 pm ET

Irene and Suzie. OK... glad you both understand. Actually, if RL and Ann C got together, we could send them to the moon and be rid of a couple of idiots! Not a bad idea Suzie!

SuzieCanada   October 9th, 2009 10:03 pm ET

Dodie, I think it's my fault my post got deleted. I shouldn't have used "AC", I should have used Ann C. I think a misunderstanding occurred. I'd never make fun of A Cooper. He's the best!

Dr. R Ayi   October 9th, 2009 11:00 pm ET

People keep asking “what has he done?” and I would like to submit the following to help the Americans who are short-sighted or have fuzzy-memories:
1. He (Obama) has successfully dismantled both the Republican (RNC) and Democratic (DNC) political machine (which has made it very difficult for any minority to be president) in a way that allowed a Black man to become a President of the United States. A symbol that provided minorities of all color and creed hope that they can one day overcome the limitations and hurdles.
2. Obama has changed the negative mindset that people of the world has about Americans due to the cowboy diplomacy started by Bush and his cohorts. Countries are beginning to listen to America once again and are willing more than ever to work with us (even Iran).
3. Obama has greatly minimized (if not eliminated) bellicose statements from his vocabulary. This act has greatly lowered the temperature of conflicts or hot issues requiring resolution by the US and other nations.
4. Allies, who were disappointed about the unilateral action taken by the US against other nations, have a sense of hope and confidence that Obama is showing more signs of inclusion.
5. “Rogue nations” like Venezuela, the Iran, Libya etc. feels Obama provides a vision which makes it easier for them to minimize or give up certain aspirations that are in contravention with the aspiration of the rest of the world.
6. His sole initiative to go around the world and offer a handshake of peace to the Muslim world, Europeans and foreign allies is work. He has travelled extensively after being in office for only 9 months talking and offering peace. He did not have to do this. He wanted to. This is work! This inspiring message of peace provides the enabling environment for world diplomacy and peace.
7. Obama provided confidence for the financial world, investors, businesses and individuals during the grim and uncertain period of the FINANCIAL CRISIS (which has not resolved completely but there is clearly an improvement).
8. He has boldly denounced the ills of his own country and challenged America’s critics/enemies to step-up to the plate and do more for their own people and for the world.
Now, it is rather strange that people could not just be happy for him and see this award as AMERICA’s award. I think the racial problem in America is so obnoxious to the point that some people cannot be happy for their own countryman- the president (oh of course he is not one of them???!!) for WINNING a PRIZE???!!!! This is a prize he did not lobby for and did not solicit. People who hate Obama will continue to hate him even if performs a life saving surgery on each one of them.
Each time Obama accomplishes something OR makes a stride towards peace, his critics will immediately call on some other problem he hasn’t solved (it is understandable but sometime it appears as sheer lunacy). He slowed down the financial crisis within months but critics will not praise him but instead they have a list of items they claim he hasn’t addressed yet even though he has only been president for 9 months. How disingenuous?
Psalm 23: The lord will set a table before me in the presence of my enemies… The more Republicans discredit and demonize this president, the more the Lord will bless him. No man has monopoly over GOD and GOD is not a republican and certainly not a respecter of persons.
Congratulations President Barrack Obama!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. R Ayi

Rush Limbaugh? Pathetic! The man appeals to the bottom feeders in our midst and when he gets a positive response from these same individuals, he imagines himself the heroic defender of all that's right in his mind. He can twist the most amazing things into something unimagineable and entirely unrelated to the issue he is attempting to demean. Yes, there are enough people out there who are influenced by his ridiculous arguments to allow him to keep his talk show afloat and allow him to live in comfort but that is all he is; a minimal influence in our political life and only on those who are incapable of seeing through his stupid comments. Rush Limbaugh is a Bozo (no intended disrespect to Bozo the Clown). While President Obama did not seek this honor and was surprised to receive it, he deserves it as much as anyone else who has received it.

schwarzgold   October 10th, 2009 4:34 am ET

The Nobel Prize Prize is not an American Award, therefore, America's opinion doesn't matter in this case. Who has has the largest impact on immediately taking office, the President changes the world's opinion of America. Look, our President, the President of the United States just won the Nobel Peace Prize while in office. I congratulate him while critics continue to be an arm chair wanna be President.

Terry, TX   October 10th, 2009 5:56 am ET

@ Dr. R Ayi
1. Wrong....DNC and RNC are fine well in the USA.
2. Americans don't care what the world thinks about us...we prefer a "Jack Bauer" president ...over let's say a "Big Bird" president. USA first.
3. His speech writer is responsible for his words.
4. Our Allies have been thrown under the bus by this administration.
5. "Rogue Nations" will still be "Rogue Nations"....because they are run by murderous psychopaths....nothing has been changed there.
6. Yeah...traveling around the world...bad mouthing his citizens... and what did it
7. Economics....tripled the deficit....unemployment close to 10%
8. Threw his citizens under the bus...lecturing the world....again ... changes

**Red Cross, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Desmond Tutu, Linus Pauling, George C Marshall, Albert Schweitzer, Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, Anwar al-Sadat, Menachem Begin, Lech Welsea.....Great Choices.....

A 12 day president gets a 1.4 million dollar award from 5 politicians from parliament....NAH....don't play....don't fly...don't pass the smell test.

Some honorable candidates got screwed...some of whose lives are actually interrupted and possibly in danger in their pursuit of good works and liberty.....not just cheap talk.

Irene, TX   October 10th, 2009 7:28 am ET

Deutschland uber alles? Mankind have heard that before. One talented and hard-working nation had already went through the horror, shame, suffering and tough recovery after proclaiming and attempting to implement something like that. They nearly took the entire world down with them...Their leaders at the time didn't care much about "rogue nations" either, one of which is our strongest ally today. How dare you to even contemplate pushing us on the same path? What is your world history grade? Oh, I forgot – here in Texas kids study Texas history for 3 semesters and the rest of the world history for 2 weeks, and "world" means Europe only.

2. Americans don’t care what the world thinks about us

True, we still have a few of those Americans... Praise the Lord and the Internet, it is indeed "a few" compared to the entire nation. What's that? 20 million(?) of RL audience out of 330? In certain areas people simply can't tune in to any other radio station, none or only the like are available (speaking of RL's old claim about free airways). Not bad, and many only need a little bit of education and a DSL connection to turn around. I met some – they had never crossed their county borders in 3 generations (inbreeding is a serious factor in declining life expectancy in the States), never traveled farther than a local beer joint and can shooting site, can't name a single capital of a single country, none is aware that the Earth in not flat and just yesterday a nice couple cheering Rush Limbaugh got so excited they fell off the tree and broke their tails. Since they know for sure that our health care is the best in the world, the world they had never seen or touched, they didn't hesitate for a moment to take a second 30-year mortgage on their tree house and proceeded with cheering insurance companies. They sure as hell know everything about everything. Good job, GOP and evangelists! You trained your base well, you knew the time will come when people will get better educated, you'll no longer be able to hold everyone behind your "iron curtain" and you'll need the base to protect you and your privileges. You must be feeling like Roman emperors watching gladiators die for your power and glory, right? I've got news for you – Americans are smarter than that, America is indeed the greatest country in the world and under Presidents like Obama it will recover and regain world respect and trust without turning "communist", you idiots. His "mistakes", if any, come from your shameless open war against him no matter what. He deserves the Prize, and we care!

6. Yeah…traveling around the world…bad mouthing his citizens…

Are you talking about SP in Hong Kong?

You are right about one more thing – no changes in some dark corners of America. Rights feel wrong... They "ain't votin' for any N..." America is done with these rights!

Ted   October 10th, 2009 8:09 am ET

Irene, Tx you are absolutely right

Ted   October 10th, 2009 8:39 am ET

Congratulation Mr. President!!!

Did you earn the Prize? Not yet, however the decision on it was made in February, just a few weeks after you took office, and it was given to you on the hope that you will do what you promised before your election. The world liked what you said and the Nobel Prize Commitee gave you a credit.

Now you must earn that credit.

You promised to close Guantanamo, yet it is still there.
You promised to pull most of our troops out of Iraq until end of June, however there are still there in October.
These two decisions could have been made by you alone without the congress.

As far as Aphganistan goes, if you want another Viet-Nam, where we lose, (as the Russians did), please send as many young Americans there to die as the generals request.
But please have the press report on the number of dead young Americans and photograph all caskets returning from there, so the nation sees what price we pay for idiotic decision made by politicians who cannot learn from the past mistakes. Do we still remember Viet-Nam, Cambodia, Somalia, etc, just to name a few bloody mistakes.

Just like the Nobel Commitee I also voted for you on the promises you made, after 30 years of not bothering to vote, because politicians usually lie to get elected and never fulfill their promises. I still believe in you, but the clouds of doubt are on the horizon.

With the Nobel Peace Prize you have an obligation to bring peace to this world by simply pulling our armies out of foreign countries where we are not wanted. That would be a major step, after all we have our military in over 80 countries in mostly hostile movements.
We do not bring democracy and peace to those countries, we bring death and destruction.
Ask our pilots how many villages and wedding parties did they bomb this week?

Irene, TX   October 10th, 2009 8:53 am ET

Fair is fair – many, very many of the base are truly hard-working people and they love America too. They just need some light.

Pren   October 10th, 2009 9:37 am ET

Michael Jackson deserves the noble prize – but he was never awarded it. Because ultimately, this world fails to recognize greatness. We all continue to live in our politically correct lives. God help us all.....

Steve   October 10th, 2009 10:20 am ET

Our president gives many speaches and helps many countries by giving aid and money to them as a support. When our country is starving with many without work as I am no income comming in as I have not and loosing there homes as I am. I ask you all the health talk and if it passes and I do not get the health I will be paying a fine ya that one will go to the way side as much in line as my bill I can not pay plus the credit cards. Obama will have more problems in the near future with so many people living under a bridge and having no food and jobs. The president and congress needs to focus on helping you know (WE THE PEOPLE the tax payers) who have no one to help them or to turn too for help. It is a shame big and strong country that we are the gov doesn't help or care enough to take and help the ones who made this country yes the tax payer We are crying out for help from our voted in gov to help the small guy and not only the big companies who still live in comfort. and do not need to worry where there next meals is comming from.
As far as the war well we have many enamies and give a little and they will crash down on us with more bombs so I say we are doing the right thing in afgan and should swarm them with american troops and get this under control. Someone mention Guantanamo should have been closed well since some of the prisoners were released as the news caster said one so far has been spotted and is fighting and planning in afgan against our troops so much for releasing these kind of people.

TJ   October 10th, 2009 1:05 pm ET

I agree that the critical people who opposed about Obama being chosen by a European country to receive the Nobel Peace Prize are totally jealous, envious, and are do nothing people!!! I think it was great and such an honor that an American president who has not been in office that long to win this very prestigious prize because it indicates that other countries have seen that Obama has accomplished alot already during his short term in office compared to long term presidents in the past.

The envious people are just showing their ignorance to the whole world by insulting the European country who made the decision to choose President Obama. President Obama and his White House people are working very hard towards the betterment of our country because we have spiraled down to the point many families are suffering so much hardships...war, economy, unemployment, and foreclosures.

I think it's wonderful that President Obama is giving his Nobel Peace money to a charity instead of pocketing it like some of the greedy politicians we have in this great country of ours!

Patricia   October 10th, 2009 1:30 pm ET

I congratulate our intelligent, accomplished, patient, hard-working and compassionate President on this award–I am so proud he has been singled out for this, and am even more proud to have voted for him. If he can get past all the negativity, his best is yet to come.

As far as Rush Lamebaugh goes, I was through listening to that fool in the early 90's, when he decided to put Hillary Clinton "in her place" by sarcastically called her "Hillary Rodham" over and over, in reference to her using her maiden name professionally. Of course, he would go on to say much more outrageous things that that, but happily I am not listening any more.

Michele   October 10th, 2009 2:23 pm ET

Keep drinking the Kool-aid people!!! I think the Saturday night skit has it right,,,What has he done (except talk, I am sure he loves the sound of his own voice): NOTHING, NADA!!! Talk, talk , talk!!!!!! He needs to DO something. What did it cost us last week to send him and his whole gang to Europe for the Olympic bid? What a waste of taxpayer dollars!!!!!Who cares about getting the Olympics, which every city goes in the hole to put on!!! I need to feed my kids, and pay my bills.

Joanne Wozniacki   October 10th, 2009 2:41 pm ET

To all the Americans who obviously hate this country and don't support a President who's working to fix our economy, help All Americans (not just the wealthy), who is opening the doors of communication to foreign countries again, gaining back the respect we lost under the previous administration, and won the Nobel Peace Prize, why don't you just move to another country? That should take you out of your misery, and at the same time save us the embarrassment of your selfishness, ignorance, and shameful, non-supportive behavior to our President.

SuzieCanada   October 10th, 2009 5:02 pm ET

Michele, for once, we/you have a president with a brilliant mind, and who's also very capable of action. Please people give him a chance. Don't blow it. Just remember what he inherited ... ... ... ...

To Michelle-If you're so unhappy about President Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize, we want to know what you yourself have done to help better this nation?????? Have you done something that superseded President Obama to help our American society instead of you sitting on your tootoo and complain! Apparently NOT!!! You and some negative people are long on complaints and short on accomplishments!!!!

michael armstrong sr.   October 10th, 2009 7:39 pm ET

My lord you guys are really wild and crazy were all in a world of crap with a president hugging Chicago like a long lost love the sooner heas gone the better off we will all be he thinks hes still senetor of the most corrupt city in America hes all for Chicago and screw the rest of the country

Teresa   October 10th, 2009 8:58 pm ET

To Gerald Jolly–Very well expressed! You have pointed out many important points for the haters of Obama to think about! I agree with your statements.

TJ   October 10th, 2009 9:17 pm ET

Why are some Americans so critical of President Obama being the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize instead of being happy and proud for him. They should be ashamed of themselves of being so very ignorant and arrogant to the European committee who decided to choose Obama to be the winner of this prestigious prize. It is no one's business in America to be so angry and critical that President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace prize by European country. No wonder some Americans have been considered to be so rude, arrogant, and ignorant in the eyes of the world because of their attitudes. They have been known to have this longstanding snobby superiority complex!

Gary Chandler in Canada   October 11th, 2009 12:35 am ET

Why isn't Limbaugh charged with treason?

Gary Chandler in Canada   October 11th, 2009 12:50 am ET

Compared to other military leaders of the Past, Hitler, Churchill, Napolean, where will Bin Laden be ranked as a strategist?
He is hoping and praying America will send 40,000 troops, roping the dopes like Limbaugh and keeping his shares in the Arms manufacturers, while draining the American economy.
Oh, if there is a pull out, you also lose.
If you turn Afghanistan into a Bastion of Democracy, and run him out of Pakistan, ten years and $$$Trillions later, he slips out the back door to some other locale.
His next Homeland attack, in my opinion, will be by parking or docking chemical tankers beside each other.
They should NEVER let 2 tanker trucks on the Hoover dam at the same time!

Mariam   October 11th, 2009 1:00 am ET

Why is everyone criticizing President Obama. I think Bush made a lot of mistakes and Obama had to fix those mistakes. I feel that president bush should have been the one criticized. I think that Mr. Barack Obama does really deserve the award. Yes hes been in office for about 9 months but hes done a lot in foreign policy. Foriegn policy is one of the most important things a president can do. So now other countries are wiling to talk to the US. I think you should thank him and commend him. I also think Mr. Obama should be given at least 2 years to determine whether hes progressing. The American media killed many famous singers, actors and actresses. Now the American media has a new person to bombard and thats their own president. Let the president be.

Jasmine   October 11th, 2009 1:16 am ET

How can anyone listen to that motor mouth- Rush Limbaugh? He's a hater and needs to stop talking bad about our President . Rush, why don't you leave and go back to Africa where all the big bad animals lives...

Mariam   October 11th, 2009 1:48 am ET

Many presidents in the past had so many flaws and they didnt prove to be that successful. Why is the American Media so antagonistic towards president Obama. Is this America discriminating against their own president.

Marry   October 11th, 2009 7:05 am ET

The prize represents a show of strong support to the president from around the world. May it strengthen him over decades on the long stony way to make things a lot of better! His commitment to cooperation and his brave character is what is needed. Congratulation, Mr. President!

Jessie from Auckland, NZ   October 11th, 2009 7:08 am ET

This can probably be expected as he is the first coloured president to be elected and an intellectual to boot.

I certainly don't envy his position as to what he inherited from Bush but I think he will make a good go of it and best wishes to him.

I admit I was a bit shocked to hear that President Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize and I suppose he was shocked himself. But I am happy for him and hope he does well.

lostemperor   October 11th, 2009 8:09 am ET

Obama was a logical choice and I think a right one. Ironically that someone who ONLY prefers diplomacy over war, should get this award as if that is something special. And that from a christian country with Limbaugh and Palin as moral knights. We are so used christians take a hundred eyes for one eye. What was nazi terror also. Singing peace to the world on Sundays. I don't think God has that sense of humor Mr. Limbaugh.

Idzan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia   October 11th, 2009 9:14 am ET

Righto Mr President and America.
The world recognizes you.
You win some, you lose some.
You lost Chicago bid, but you won the Nobel Prize.
That's a bigger glory.

bill   October 11th, 2009 10:05 am ET

Yo "LIMBERG" as in HOT AIR Buffon, angry, as usua?? Not to worry, when the Award for "Hate Monger" comes along, you and your sister Anne will be first in line!

Kathryn   October 11th, 2009 12:13 pm ET

Obama has done more about peace than miserably mean Limbaugh ever or will ever do! Limbaugh makes me want to puke when I hear his name.

As for Michael Steele, thank God for president Obama's presidential win or he would never have been UNDESERVINGLY placed in the position of chairman of the GOP! When you live in a glass house, don't throw stones!

Steele is the GOP's puppet that they string out in the media every now and then to tease or provoke the president.

alex lyrics   October 11th, 2009 7:23 pm ET

Michael steel should call President Obama his daddy, because he has been feeding off of Obama for almost a year now .

If Obama wasn't president, the republican racist would have never given Michael Steele his job. So Michael Steele should thank Obama for putting food on his families table.

President Obama needs to not listen to the Republican party, just like they are refusing to side with or compromise with him .

Obama needs to not give in to republicans, and end the war in Afganistan, pull our troops out and back.

Why should Obama send more troops?

The Left wing Democrates want the troops home.

The republicans love warf, and hate, so they want to send more troops.

The republican party is a war party.

Why should Obama listent to them?? They have not worked with Obama on any issue.

It is time for Obama to piss of the republicans andd show them that they need to deal with him and negotiate on healthcare.

Obama needs to repeal the don't ask don't tell and give all gat people full equal rights, that would really piss off those republican clsoet cases.

Mr. President, if you want to know the riught thing to do, then always do the opposite of what the Republicans want.

Gerald Jolly   October 11th, 2009 8:16 pm ET

I have been deleted from Larry Kings Blog, because I wrote truthfull things about Rush Limbaugh.

Now many would be offended if their blogs were deleted from Larry King's blog.

But I am honored because I am sure RUSHY BABY complained to CNN about my blog.

I have never written anything untrue about Rush Limbaugh, because I know the man for what he is, and what he stands for.

"ANARCHY" of the United States of America "IN HIS OWN WORDS OFTEN SPOKEN.

GARY MONTGOMERY   October 11th, 2009 8:29 pm ET

mzrose58   October 11th, 2009 10:08 pm ET

Congrats Mr President. Eat your hearts out, Rush,Oreilly,Hannity,Dobbs.Beck. Do something positive or informative and who know's when you grow up it could be you too.

Gerald Jolly   October 11th, 2009 10:52 pm ET

How do you know when your toilet has backed up.

Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'reilly, Glen Beck, and Looloo Dobbs appear.

Mark My Words   October 12th, 2009 4:53 am ET

I'm a little fuzzy on this, what peace agreement did Obama broker?

It's easy to say your going to destroy America's nuclear arsenal. The other countries love that. Of course, they will give him a pat on the back as long as it knocks America down. You Obama lovin' fools are suckered in by his rhetoric.

SJF   October 12th, 2009 6:33 am ET

Michael Armstrong. You are so lost. Times have changed and the world is global and our survival and prosperity depend just as much on us as it on support of the gobal community governments and people. Obama is smart enough to realise we are no where without the support of the rest of the world. Additionally, Obama inherits 2 wars, a 12 trillion dollar national debt that is choking the U.S. and ensures high taxes for many many generations to come, the largest deficit in history, the worst financial crisis since the depression and every speaks as if he is the one that got us here. Just like when the dow was down at 6500 everyone complained about Obama and its his fault. Now that the dow is at 9850 everyone dismisses it and finds something else that they feel is worng. Just so transparently hypocritical.

Stick to the facts, and don't speak until you know them, otherwise you will sound ignorant.

If you inherited a mess, you would expect a modicum of respect and not a lot of ignorant people speaking out of both sides of their mouths.

bill   October 12th, 2009 6:49 am ET

Congrads "Mark", more histeria, more non-truths. He never said that or infered that he was dismantling our Defenses, but why mess up a perfectly good Pity-Party by presenting the truth. What he DID say was that every nation of the World can present there causes, talk about these like adults and decide to NOT to make nuclear weapons kill each other. That America would NOT be a Lone Ranger, but a part of the Global Family in this very small and connected world. That promise, that now conceivable idea of a shared future is what the President has been awarded for. There is NO weakness in there, that is the position of strenght that our President has returned to this great Country, the United States of America.

Sylvia Mermea   October 12th, 2009 10:50 am ET

Hey Limbaugh, why don't you just get a REAL job and quit stirring the pot with your entertainment nonsense. All you're thinking about is your deep pockets and not the nation. Just get over it and move on. This great nation does not need any more negativity.

Rick Botello de Luna   October 12th, 2009 1:01 pm ET

President Obama is my Hero, when I see or hear those that deny he is a President that dares to be real and do "Change" that this country is in need of , his critics are many and self serving to sell air time and promote hate, racism, and fill their pockets with income from others that do not believe in ending hate, discrimination in the military. As a Navy Veteran I support all those in the Washington DC March to address this change, I am a band of one, that knows first hand what happens in the military now. I support our President and country in doing the right thing.

Jen   October 12th, 2009 1:39 pm ET

People these days never take the time to research anything. Instead they rely on FOX for their education. They just react based on prejudging and ignorance. The Nobel Peace Prize is given to individuals who have made accomplishments in an area as well as individuals who have set world diplomacy in action. Hence President Obama took this as "A call to action." Check his ratings around the world. They are 4 times that of the last president and in a relatively short period of time. If you choose to read about the Nobel Peace Prize, you will see this did not set the precedent. The Nobel Committee gave South African Bishop Desmond Tutu the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his leadership of efforts to abolish apartheid in South Africa. Apartheid wasn't fully abolished in South Africa until 1994. The committee could have waited until after apartheid was abolished to say, "Well done!" But the point of the award was to help bring down apartheid by strengthening Bishop Tutu's efforts. In particular, everyone knew that it was going to be much harder for the apartheid regime to crack down on Tutu after the Nobel Committee wrapped him in its protective cloak of world praise.
President Obama has a lot on his plate left over from the previous administration and he is still trying to get the rest of the world to look at american differently. Give him a break. He's dealing with peace, two wars, health reform for all, economics, jobs, etc. It looked so easy before he took office, because no one was doing anything.

Gerald Jolly   October 12th, 2009 10:49 pm ET

Hey! Folks, there is a story that is being circulated on many blog formats, like MSN, Yutube, Twitter that when Rush Limbaugh was only fourteen years of age, he was caught having sex with a female pig.

Can anyone shed some light on this story, as to wether this is true or not or just a Limbaugh hater spreading such a story.

Your help would be appreciated.

SJF   October 13th, 2009 3:56 am ET

Rush Limbore and the FOX channel ignoramous idiots insult my intelligence with everyword of ridiculousness they speak. It is beyond me how anyone can listen their manipulative Dogma, Terrorist, NAZI Right propaganda.

They are exhausting to listen to as their sensational diatribes are just such utter B.S. Unfortunate that so many misinformed and ignorant viewers buy their destructive rhetoric.

Anyone can twist the truth and paint a pisture that is not real.

Obama speaks of a new and better future for all. If the poor viewers only knew how the maojority of americans are simply pawns in the governments game.

Obama wants to reform health care and make it more affordable and give americans a choice. But the insurance and drug companies will try to make you believe that you having a choice is not good as it will mean money out of their already fat pockets.

So, Obama offers a choice and the Nazi right wing are going to make you feel like he is taking something away from you, when he is trying to give you options. Is freedom part of what this country is about. Trust me, the drug and insurance companies merely want to keep their bellies full at the gerneral publics expense. Wake up everyone and stop believeing the sensationalised hype that paints an inaccurate picture.

A man wins a prestigious prize and all limbore can do is tear it down and make it wrong as he does everything and everyone. Is rush and the FOX channels news casters really that perfect?

I mean Bush had the honor of being the only president to have a criminal record; do business with the bin ladens; have a grand father that had his company shut down for doing business with Hitler during WWII; escorted the bin ladens from various locations oput of the U.S. just after Sept. 11 when stranded Americans could not even get home, increase the national debt from 5 trillion to 11 trillion in 8 years (more than any president); increase the the deficit to record levels, invaded Iraq without U.N. approval and simultaneously dropped the ball on Osama Bin Laden who was cornered in afganistan when troops were taken of Afganistan to be deployed in Iraq; It was proved that WMD never existed and it was a ploy to dupe the U.S. people into going along with the war...and the list goes on.

Wake up everyone. Democrat or republican or not, Bush did not work and Obama was handed the worrst mess in history and has helped the dow recover from 6500 to 9800 during his first 150 days in office.

I would love to see what and how Limbore and Hannity would do in Obama shoes.

They are so full of garbage and what is so sad is that most unknowing people buy their insulting slanders.

In psychology, whenever you invalidate someone or something, you validate yourself. I think these low lifes have mastered this art.

Please get to know the facts before you make any judgement. If you think these people commenting on health care really understand everything about the plan you are wrong. They are hyping things to make Obama look bad.

If anyone is guilty of creating the U.S. into a nazi state it is Rushlimbore and the rest of the Right Wing. IF you can remeber the vision of Chenney and Rumsfeld saluting the tanks and soldiers for the Irag war like they were Hitler.

Wake up people.

Jeri   October 13th, 2009 12:37 pm ET

I was disappointed to see Rush Limbaugh as a guest on Jay Leno's new show about 2 weeks ago. Why on earth would they welcome such a racist and hateful personality as Limbaugh on Leno's show? Limbaugh said to Leno that Obama had no business questioning the huge bonuses that Wall St. executives received, even after all of the financial corruption was revealed.

Sorry Jay, you hit an all time low with that guest. Not impressed. Not entertaining AT ALL!

Gerald Jolly   October 13th, 2009 7:14 pm ET

Please read the following information folks.

Rush Limbaugh tells his audience that President Obama does not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize Award. and many of his fans agree with what he is saying.

Here are the facts on Rush Limbaugh and Fox News.

The population of the U.S. is estimated to be 313 million people .
In the very latest poll on Rush Limbaugh it is reported that he has approx, 3 million followers,

That is only 1% of the population of the U.S., hardly significant as to an impact on the phylosophy of the America public.

The poll also suggest that the core of Rush Limbaugh's are in fact extreme rightests, prejudice, and for the most part racist eletists. hardly worth worrying about.

Rush Limbaugh in a very recent statement has even said that he really does'nt care what the American public thinks about his point of view, as long as he can maintain the level of followers he currently has.

Rush just recently signed and agreed to a $40 million dollars contract that will bring him up to 2014, at which point he will examine his options and decide if he will go any further with his program.

The question is, why do we make such a fuss about what he has to say?? He only represents 1% of the American public, hardly worth worrying about. "PIG-FACE LIMBAUGH"

Brittney Artis   October 15th, 2009 2:01 am ET

I think it was great and such an honor that an American president who has not been in office that long to win this very prestigious prize because it indicates that other countries have seen that Obama has accomplished alot already during his short term in office compared to long term presidents in the past.
The envious people are just showing their ignorance to the whole world by insulting the European country who made the decision to choose President Obama. President Obama and his White House staff are working very hard towards the improvement of our country because we have spiraled down to the point were many families are suffering many hardships such as: family members serving in the war, economy, unemployment, and foreclosures.
