While I am interested in this show and the Jackson Family, it will be absent the heart and soul of the family. Michael is, without a doubt, "Gone to Soon".

Why do they keep calling Michael "the self-proclaimed" King of Pop ?
He didn't self-proclaim himself that – Elizabeth Taylor used it for the first time and yes he totally deserved it.

I honestly think it would stop some of the "trash talk" that is happening and is being picked up by the tabloids.... I am going to step away for awhile and feed the family, but I was just in shock over the heroin headline... that doesn't sound like the MJ that employed a nutritionist and was trying to eat organic to stay healthy....

Guys, assuming that TMZ is quoting the affidavit correctly it's actually the Jackson family who's started the heroin story by telling this to the police.

Hi Maureen (UK): I know you're right, they all ready retracted the original statement and said it wasn't heroin. I wish the Jackson family spokesperson, Ken Sunshine (or whatever his name is) would give the MJ fans at least some of the details of what is really going on... I have had some questions for as long as this has been going on:
Why was there no statement from UCLA Medical Center instead of just from Jermaine?
Dr. Murray was at the hospital with MJ, why did he refuse to sign the death certificate? If whoever signed the death certificate (looks like the name is redacted on the online document) knew that MJ died earlier why did they put in the wrong time of death?
In my opinion the "ambulance" photo has got to be from the 90's that didn't look like MJ in 2009.
I don't want to believe that this could be just a "publicity stunt gone wrong" as TI has said on these blogs, but there are just too many pieces of this puzzle that don't add up. IMO.
And then too boot, to leave MJ for over two months without a burial? What is that all about? I don't know, it just is frustrating not to really "know" something for certain.... Just my ramblings....

No wonder Michael was unhappy for almost all of his life.,This family is completly out of touch with Michael's fans what are they thinking!! First, was the annoucement to the tribute in Vienna , that by the way it looks more like Jermaine's face. I bought 2 tickets , but now I am having my doughts in going , because there are ways to honor Michael's life and wishes and I don't have to go to Austria to do something for him I can do it here in the US.

A while ago there was a story on TMZ saying that A&E offered the Jacksons $25 million for this series if they let them interview MJ's children.

Gloria I said the same thing about the photo of suppose to be Michael it did look like Michael in the 80's I wonder what's up with that did Michael really die or what.

But then again Gloria I was looking at some old photo's of Michael and the picture of him in that glass tube looked just like Michael in the ambulance if it was really him.

Did anyone else notice a white gloved hand sticking out from under the sheet when they showed him on the stretcher? And who was there to take the pictures?

I don't know how successful this show will be – unless his 3 kids are in it....and I hope they're not. It doesn't appeal so much to me but that's my opinion. Seems like they are trying to pick up where MJ left off and ride coattails or something.

Sony still has the right to make money of all that falls under the Thriller catalogue: released and unreleased tracks from that period and the new tracks recorded for the Thriller 25 (that's why Thriller 25 was issued by Sony BMG's Legacy label).
The contract that gives Sony this right is due to expire at the end of 2011. Then the licenses to the masters of the Sony/Epic/Legacy albums will revert to the MJ's estate and the profits can go to the estate, if there will be an independent label owned by the estate, or can be shared with other labels which will bid for the right to release the MJ material.

I also found this – it's an AP story from July:
Steve Gordon, an entertainment lawyer and author of “The Future of the Music Business,” worked at Sony Music during the 1990s. He said he was at Sony when Jackson’s last contract was negotiated, though he acknowledged it could have recently been updated.
Gordon said Jackson owned some of his master recordings, while others are owned in partnership with Sony. Regardless, he said, Sony retains exclusive distribution rights for anything Jackson produced during the term of their contract.
Gordon said he expected Sony’s Legacy Recordings division to do something similar to what it did with Elvis and create a division purely for Jackson’s catalog.
“They’ve done every kind of configuration to try to squeeze more money out of the catalog with Elvis and they’ll do it with Michael Jackson — be sure of it,” Gordon said. “I imagine that there’s a ... load of concert recordings that may or may not have been released.”

I think it is horrible that people are hating on Michael's family. He loved them. He forgave them. He would not want his fans hating and lying on his family. He trusted his mother to raise his children. We don't know anything that went on and we still don't even know the true circumstances of his death. But I really think everyone needs to back up off the Jackson family.

Hi Diane 🙂 and all bloggers on tonight: I just wish the Jacksons would make some kind of official statement. Are they trying to do some type of memorial that the public can visit, like Graceland? IMO it is plain wrong to lock MJ away from his fans forever... I mean I would go to Gary Indiana if that's where they decided that a memorial would be built...

What you all fail to realize the family still needs to support themselves. Michael left his mother with 3 kids to raise, and I am sure the family is helping them. Just because Michael left them something in the Will does not mean anything. So if they want to make their money, so be it. I agree with you that hating MJ's family is not the right thing to do but I have to admit that I also was disappointed by their decision to bury Michael in such a private place that no fan would ever manage to reach him.
There is something very comforting in being able to place flowers on the grave of a person you loved and just stay there for a while hoping they could hear your thoughts.
I understand there are security concerns about placing him in a place open to public but considering the regular profits such a place would have been drawing I don't think expensive security would not have been able to provide for.

If I was to make some of those decisions I would have bought that house in Las Vegas which Michael wanted to live in, call it Wonderland just like he planned, bury him there, buy back all the amusemens park equipment that he had in Neverland and make the place a shrine and museum of his legacy.

Fans can visit whenever they want, children can play in the amusement park and give joy to his spirit with their laughter, and when the family wants to visit in private they could easily close the section with his tombstone.

And some of the profit could go to charity that carries his name.

BTW, there was an article today on TMZ saying that the security for the funeral will cost 3 times the original price because it's now on a weekday.

I have 2 things to say about that:

1) Shame on L.A. for asking this family to pay $150K themselves. Like I said in a previous post Michael must have paid billions of dollars in taxes to this state and gotten nothing of it so far. The city and state should pay for security of his funeral at least.

2) I wonder if the funeral will be postponed one more time to have it on a weekend again.

@Gloria: TMZ was not the source of that information about the heroin. They were quoting what was stated in a search warrant affidavit that just became unsealed. So it was a member of law enforcement that made that statement.

I do think Mila's idea is a good one for all concerned. It would generate revenue for the family and MJ's children and it would give the fans a place to go to show respect for MJ. Like Graceland does for Elvis. Nothing says the family has to have his burial site in Vegas, that would be up to them (of course), but you, as fans know that you will want to have a place that shows honor to MJ to take your kids and grand-kids. He made history folks.... do we really not want to have a pseudo-shine in his honor.... He changed music as we knew it growing up, FOREVER.... he deserves a fitting memorial site for his fans. JMO

As journalists, they should check their sources before they sully MJ's name... I'm sorry but whomever took that at face value, should be shot. It ended up not being heroin at all. And, there were so many people in and out of that house, why would TMZ assume it was MJ's and not the movers or one of the staff's stash?

Gloria, maybe they will do something in the future. Maybe they are waiting for the memorabilia to get back from its tour. Who knows, maybe something will happen in October, or December.

I would have also liked the Jackson family to finally come together and make a proper statement for the fans in terms of tributes planned, suggestions for ways fans can honor Michael like charities that he supported or that they will support on his behalf and as someone else suggested above summarize for us the information that they have so far and know for sure.

I'm just tired of different members of the family coming forward every now and then making statements that either make no sense (like LaToya and Joe) or that get denied by others later (like Jermaine's), everyone making tributes of their own.

I would have liked to do something for his birthday like donate some moeny to Heal The World Foundation but I don't even know if this foundation is still legitimate because they are rumors that it has nothing to do with MJ or the causes he supported any more.

They could have identified one song of his (e.g. Heal The World, We're The World or maybe something personal to him like Childhood) that we can all buy as a tribute to him for 29th and have the money donated to charity.

There's so much enthusiasm from the fans and no outreach from the family at all.

I'm no fan of LAPD ever since they mishandled MJ but I don't think we can blame them for what was in the affidavit.

It's someone from the Jackson family (we know LaToya nd Janet were in MJ's house) who told them they found "tar heroin in a bag". It's their mistake that they didn't say it was a bag with white power or whatever.

LAPD mentioned this as one of the reasons to get a search warrant and I don't see anyhting wrong with that.

As for TMZ – I don't have a problem with them reporting what was in the search warrant affidavit as long as they clarify where the info came from – i.e. this is info before the search and may or may not have been confirmed by the search (in this case obviously didn't get confirmed).

The city, county, or state of California cannot pay for MJ's burial. If they did, it would create a presidence, which would be used in future court actions, for all people wanting the governing areas to pay. Also, it's that same old thing of taxpayers who would support their money to be allocated for MJ burial and others that would protest. By law, it roles back to the family. The family might decide to have the burial privately, secretly, and not keep telling the media. To me....why even tell the media when fans cannot attend to pay their respects.

That reality show was filmed prior to MJ's children living with Katherine. IMO, A&E is just putting out a hook that MJ will be in the show to get more ratings. If A&E were to go back now and try to film MJ's kids, the social worker, psych, & judge would terminate Katherines custody. Jacqueline....I agree....everyone will watch the reality show out of curiousity.

I totally agree about your idea of donating to a charity that has been close to Michael's heart, on his birthday this Saturday. I certainly would if I knew of an official one.
I think that would be a very positive thing to do in light of all the negative articles and statements that have been tossed around about him.

Since my undergraduate degree is in journalism, I am highly offended that TMZ didn't verify their sources information... in my day, that's the way it was done. Search warrants can and do make claims that are not all together true. And, additionally, if the family was the source of this information, they have been in that house taking things out right after MJ's death... along with others who had access, why is this information coming out now? They shouldn't have access at this point, it's a crime scene.... just a thought....

No, the Jackson family does not want the City of Glendale to pay for the burial. Someone earlier in the blog suggested it would be a good and nice idea.

Lynn: Yes, the reality show was in the news prior to MJ's death. It was filmed last Spring with over 40 hours of footage. After MJ's passing, A&E want to film interview with MJ's kids and and family mourning thoughts, to add to their 40 hours of footage. There is suppose to be a 1 hour special of the mourning brothers, and possibily the reality show at a later time this year. Who knows...it's all for ratings.

Gloria – alot of procedural events with respect to the LAPD, the Coroner is just not right....why did the police go in two days later or even a day later. Now this story about heroin, give me a break...just another tabloid bs story.....what's next?

My guess is the police came 2 days later, after they talked with Murray on Saturday. MJ passed on Thursday. The police must have originally (Thurs) accepted that MJ passed from heart arrest. Friday, after they got the SUV, then Saturday after talking w/Murray, they may have concluded that foul play was involved. Meanwhile LaToya & brothers went to the house Thurs night (per LaToya), yet their rental van was there on Friday. I remember the van being filmed during day light hours.

Who can recognize heroin unless they have been around it? hummmm Also, why call police to turn in MJ for heroin? Makes me double think if the source was a family member or someone just pretending to be a family member. So many questions to this mystery.

I would really like to see some kind of memorial building or display or something for MJ. He is the greatest entertainer of our time and he left too early. This would be up to the family, I know and I am not sure how Jehovahs believe regarding those types of things. They don't have to decide right away. They still have all this painful investigation and trial stuff swirling around but maybe once the dust settles they will want to do something. I am most concerned with his legacy. MJ's burial will be inside this huge castle like building. The only thing fans would be able to possibly see is family & friends exiting their cars. Perhaps Forest Lawn even has a private parking area to protect fan viewing. Forest Lawn is a huge, many many acres, of land and the castle type building appears to be half the size of Queen Elizabeths.

I think the Staples Center memorial is what done for MJ's fans. I do think a statue or monument would be great for MJ. If that was done, the only place I can think of where it would be placed is Las Vegas. It would have to be a city where stars, musicians, singers are centralized.

What the fans can do for MJ is to honor and support his children and their privacy from the media.

I adore the Jackson's. Right now they must still be in shock over the sudden death of Michael, just as we are. I'm sure they are feeling enormous guilt about not being more involved with Michael's personal life and those around him. At the same time that is a close knit family. ALL of the Jackson's were their to support Michael in court EVERYDAY when he had those ridiculous charges placed against him. I beleive everything that they decide is in the best interest of the family and what Michael would have wanted. His place of rest looks and sounds beautiful. Look at Michael's memorial service and how well that was put together, his beautiful gold casket. Michael is being laid to rest like the King that he was and ALWAYS will be. I fully support the family on their decisions and the projects they are planning in the future. God Bless Michael and the entire Jackson Family. My heart ACHES everyday. I love you, MJ!

Thank you everyone for informing me that the Jacksons are doing a reality show. I bet Michael didn't want to do it. His father was always telling people when he signed contracts that he could get Michael abroad. But he knew MJ would have no part of it and they Joe would got Katherine and tell her to get Michael on broad. I heard her say in an interview once that Michael didn't need his brothers,but that needed him. How true is that. If they wanted money so bad they should have put their egos away and let MJ be the star and they should have been his back up singers and band. I am not say that the brothers don't have talent. They just didn't have it like MJ did. Joe Jackson would always say that MJ wasn't anything special that they were all good and MJ shouldn't have been singled out. BUT HE IS THE ONE THAT HAD THE TALENT. They should have let MJ have full rein,but MJ would always say well the brothers voted and I am only one vote. I think thats reason he wanted to get away from the brothers,so he could create what he wanted to create and he didn't need theirs votes to do it. I am sure that MJ will look over his children. Michael had his moments at time. Just not very many of them where you see him smile anymore and it is a shame cause he deserved so much more. But, if you look at his face during the last filmed rehersal when the lights went down he had a smile of joy , it was so beautiful , he was alive on stage it was his high, the perfomance, the fans, the energy, he usted to cry for God Sakes. Youcould see his emotions coming out, he was in complete harmony with his body, voice and spirit.

Farewell: I agree with what you are saying. Michael had everything except what he really needed and that is a true friend. I like you people thought he had no feelings, but he did. Everytime I look at his videos I look into his eyes and no matter how he may look you can see in his eyes how loney and sad he really was. What breaks my heart is that no body paid no attention to it. Meaning his close net circle of associates, not friends. Friends does not treat you like they are treating Michael now that he is not among the living.

Michael had no true friends and he knew that. That's why he relied on his fans for support. Michael had all kinds of feelings. People just stepped on them all the time.

In fact lately I have been listening to his interviews on The GetMusic and believe me he wasn't so hard to understand that's why we are all here in this blog at 2:00 AM my time! Well it's good that they're adding a new show cause I won't be watching their Gene Simmons Familly Jewels anymore. I used to like the show but I am a loyal Michael Jackson fan and after hearing Gene Simmons commenting on a Toronto radio station after Michael 's death that he believes Michael was a pedophile I can't stomach the thought of ever watching his show again. Shame on him, Michael was found innocent and Gene Simmons is definitely no candidate for sainthood with his sexual history and one he blatantly brags about in front of his children.
