CNN and MSNBC need to join forces or at least there efforts in informing the public that FOX News purposely misinforms viewers to build a strong republican party. I have seen FOX NEWS repeatedly pass off false information to its viewers as facts and this is exactly what is stopping Americans from having smart and mature debates. CNN is not doing enough to inform its viewers of why this country is so divided. Twice as many republicans watch FOX NEWS than CNN and MSNBC combined and that is the reason behind Bush's 2 terms and the ignorant outbursts at the town hall meetings regarding health care. CNN needs to launch a fierce campaign discrediting FOX NEWS as a legitimate news station. CNN should do whatever is necessary to inform the public and that includes tough advertisements like the one's the Bush administration used to win the 2004 election. Just mentioning this on CNN programs will not be enough, CNN must blast FOX NEWS for months to come in order to achieve anything. I saw a segment on the Rachael Madow show last night regarding this subject matter and I believe CNN will be doing both this country and its self a huge service by launching a campaign like this. Just think of all the Republican Viewers that can be won over.

About half of the public are as dumb as a box of rocks, who think the government is planning a Nazi-style euthanasia program against the elderly. Does it ever occur to these people to ask who is paying for all that propaganda and what their intentions are?

It's the Republicans who want to abolish Social Security and Medicare, but these people will never figure that out until it's too late.

Mark in St. Louis   August 19th, 2009 6:06 pm ET

Michael – "It’s the Republicans who want to abolish Social Security and Medicare, but these people will never figure that out until it’s too late."
You're Wrong

Many of you can't seem to get the point. The Dem. plan is BAD. The government simply wants the control, and they could have fixed many other things like social security and Medicare. They can't take care of the Native Americans who many have a National Health Care program. The state of Massachusetts has a program that doesn't work. England's health care system doesn't work better than our current one. The Democratic politicians wouldn't sign on to this health care plan for themselves. Wake up.

Watch as the Liberal Left loses power in 2010 because of their arrogance.

Mark in St. Louis   August 19th, 2009 6:10 pm ET

Ol' Barney was more than happy to stage the "poor me" personality. All he could do is Blame Bush even though he was a key player in the Fannie Mae debacle several years ago... and they had a Democratic majority in the house since 2006. Why didn't the Dems do anything about the economic problems back then?

Joe G. (Illinois)   August 19th, 2009 6:17 pm ET

How could any good health care program come out of someone whose only drive and dream coming out of Law School was to fight for Abortion. The way I see it is “If it stinks it stinks.” So what if people can’t be both politically correct and scientific when expressing their blunt rejection and malcontent.

Barney Frank says it like it is. That woman's vitriol was sidelined by Barney's candor. Good for him.....anyone carrying a photo of your President and likening him to one of the most evil people in the 20th century, deserves to be compared to a piece of furniture.

Cathy   August 19th, 2009 8:44 pm ET

I think Barney Franks responses to the protesters was great he called it like it is, dont act childish and your point is lost in your behavior be passionate but be adult lets discuss the issues at hand without namecalling, rudeness, or intimadation this should be the example for all leaders at townhall meetings if asked something silly call it silly and move on to legitament questions its unfair to the people on either side of the debate to have to wait for the coo coo questions and boos to finish before reasonable q&a can begin

Rich   August 19th, 2009 9:10 pm ET

Congressman Frank was absolutely great. Enough of this ignorance!!

He is a public servant and deserves to be treated with respect as do all our public servants.

I think this woman must be spending most of her time either on Pluto or on Neptune..........because she is "out there"!!

eJay   August 19th, 2009 9:13 pm ET

She is just ignorant, a dining room table is smarter.

amb   August 19th, 2009 9:14 pm ET

Barney was absolutely rude talking to his constituents. He won't be around after the next election. Who wants someone like that who doesn't answer their questions with respect.

Michael   August 19th, 2009 9:21 pm ET

Good for Barney Frank! He is a straight shooter. He sure gave that crazy woman what she deserved in a professional and kind way. That woman was a looser. Nazi talk is so lame. If you cannot win an argument bring Hitler or Nazi into it..........sure that makes sense! Wrong!!!!!!!! Barney had control of the room. He deserves credit for his statements. Reasonable debate please!

Michael   August 19th, 2009 9:23 pm ET

Maybe a dining room table is smarter than her? How could you respond to her stupid comment. I think she is from Mars. Ofer her a free ticket back to Mars?

Michael   August 19th, 2009 9:25 pm ET

Barney was not rude. The crazy woman was rude and totally out-of-line in her statements!

Forest N   August 19th, 2009 9:30 pm ET

I don't think Barney Frank is at fault in any way here, this woman is clearly part of the "let's bring down President Obama like Fox News tells us to" group. I like the idea already posted about exposing the false information and bias that is displayed on that network.

Michael   August 19th, 2009 9:34 pm ET

Why can't we have affordable health care? It is a shame. Other European countries can do it. I understand even Cuba has better health care than us. What's up with that?

Trina   August 19th, 2009 9:36 pm ET

Barney Frank was right on. That idiot got just what she deserved; and so should the rest of the lunatics out there. I find it very interesting how other countries respect our President more than his own country does. It is really embarrassing to see them likening him to Hitler. Republicans are the crazy ones. They believe everything that comes from Fix news. What's even worse is they believe everything that comes from Palin's mouth. Does not really say a lot about them. I wonder how they are going to feel the minute they lose their jobs and their health insurance goes with it. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone.

Michael   August 19th, 2009 9:38 pm ET

Why do members of Congress have a deluxe health care plan and US citizens do not have the same plan? Members of Congress should offer to give up their plan to save money. That is only fair and it is a start to make health care affordable for all Americans. All Americans should get the same good care. No special care for some and no care for others.

Michael   August 19th, 2009 9:42 pm ET

It is so shameful to deny good health care to some and give it to others. How could anyone justify that. All American citizens deserve good health care whether they have lost their job or have pre-existing conditions. For God-sakes it is their health!!!!!!!!!!!

Tennessee   August 19th, 2009 9:48 pm ET

"Suppose my friends, for a moment, you are an idiot. Now suppose for a moment you are a member of the 'Royal Opposition'. Ahh, but I tend to repeat myself. Mark Twain 'paraphased'

Trina   August 19th, 2009 9:55 pm ET

I guess she will be on FIX news tomorrow too. Oh, maybe not since Barney got right with her. But then again they may just edit him out. They do tend to spin things to suit their audience.

Ted   August 20th, 2009 10:54 am ET

Fear is a very old weapon you can use to keep your own people in line.
The nazis used it constantly until the german people was ready to destroy the "jewish threath" to their pure arian blood.
Stalin used it to subjugate his own nation, fearing a major invasion from the west. So Europe was devided with a great deadly wall, its purpose was not to keep the west out, but the east in.
The Bush administration used it so they can attack Iraq and practically take away the constutional rights of many citizens.
The repuclicans are on the same path and our uneducated and ignorant citizens fall for those lines. Should the FBI and the Attorney General not take action?
That woman who carried the sign comparing president Obama to Hitles should be arrested and charged. The freedom of speach should have limits when you insult other persons.
Rep. Frank did just right, call that woman what she is.

Mark in St. Louis   August 21st, 2009 10:00 am ET

Michael – "Cuba has a better system than ours. " ...what planet are you from?

Hey abortionists,
Why is it OK to kill a baby 1 minute before it's born, but it's murder if you kill a baby 1 minute after it's born?

Jon   August 21st, 2009 11:52 am ET

Who kills a baby 1 minute before its born? Why do you people love the fetus but hate the child? What is wrong with giving people universal health care if it doesn't affect your existing health care.

Oh, and your elected officials are considered government employees and, therefore, are eligible for the Federal Employee Health Benefit Plan. I know as a fact its good but not great, since some of their copays are much higher the health plans offered by private companies.

Michael   August 21st, 2009 12:42 pm ET

Mark in St. Louis – My planet is Earth, what is yours? Yes, even Cuba has pretty good medical care at little or no cost their citizens! Check out Michael Moore's Movie: Sicko. Some 911 workers got better medical care there on a visit than our country provides them on a regular basis. Shameful. You should reconsider your ideas.

Mark in St. Louis   August 22nd, 2009 5:55 pm ET

Oh yea, Michael Moore is an accurate and unbiased ... not. Take a look at Farenhype 911, it might wake you up about Michael Moore.

Mark in St. Louis   August 22nd, 2009 6:06 pm ET

The fact that anyone gets excited about the town hall meetings is because they weren't listening in Washington. They disregarded the majority of the citizens who were saying stop the unnecessary and wasteful spending. Yet they passed the stimulus and Omnibus bills anyway and did it without reading the bills. Now as the intelligent people read the bill, they realize that it is a very bad piece of legislation.

As a scare tactic, the protesters are being called Nazi mobs. The Dems are very good at deflecting from the point which is that the bill is a piece of trash and they don't want it passed. Most of the meetings are calm up to the point where the so-called public servant is being condescending or disrespectful.

All of you who don't like a few loud voices at a town hall meeting need to look back at the numerous violent protests against Bush over 8 years. Where are all you anti-war protesters? Is war OK now that Obama is in power?

Michael   August 22nd, 2009 6:26 pm ET

Mark in St. Louis – Get over it! Check the facts: the protesters brought the Nazis into this, no one else. Last I checked, Michael Moore did not do this country any harm like the Bush/Chaney administration. Oh yes, and Bush/Chaney administration were just angels and rocket-scientists weren't they? Remember the incompetence (Katrina), corruption (banking/real estate lending industry), and arrogance (Chaney) of the Bush/Chaney era? Remember the Iraq war? Look at what eight years of that have brought us. How could be be worse off now? Yea, you are real intelligent, Mark.
