Birthers on the Hill

Thanks to FireDogLake and Campaign Silo for giving me the opportunity to do this work!

Check out this video: several Republican Congressman tell me they don't believe Barack Obama is an American. Several dodge the question. Others offer weak-tea justifications for kinda-sorta believing Obama is a natural born citizen, Constitutionally fit to hold the office of President of the United States of America. Only one, Trent Franks of Arizona, gives a correct and clear answer, but even he can't help himself from suggesting that Obama is facilitating Jihad and turning America into a socialist state.

President Obama- Your a breath of fresh air!

Mark in St. Louis   July 28th, 2009 1:58 am ET

The only reason why this became an issue is because of the strange lack of cooperation from the Obama people and court system over a year ago. Why didn't they just produce the proof immediately? This is why there is a controversy. I don't know either way. Again, Obama's secrecy make us wonder.

The Hawaii State Department of Health, Linda Lingle (the Reublican Gov. of Hawaii), and the Honolulu Advertiser have all verified that the birth certificate in question is authentic, valid, and that President Obama was born a citizen of the United States. The only secrecy in this weird scenario is in the heads of the nutcases who insist that Obama was born in Kenya.

"Any inconvenient facts are irrelevant. People who believe in a conspiracy theory "develop a selective perception, their mind refuses to accept contrary evidence," Chip Berlet, a senior analyst with Political Research Associates who studies such theories, says. 'As soon as you criticize a conspiracy theory, you become part of the conspiracy.' " ( 12-05.08)

It is impossible to rationalize with crazy people–and "Birthers" are crazy.

Trent Franks of Arizona is a nut case, How much more proof do we need.

thank you!

Obama has nothing to lose by just making fun of these people whenever the issue comes up for the next eight years–and it will. If it isn't the birth certificate it will be something else. They are the Confederate-Evangelical Base of the Republican Party, the 30 percenters led by the C Street Boys, who absolutely hate Obama and will oppose him no matter what he says or does. They all think he's some kind of Kenyan Muslim "Manchurian Candidate".

Obama should just tell them that the Loch Ness Monster ate his birth certificate, or it was lost in the Twilight Zone or the Bermuda Triangle.

Michael Jackson for a Nobel Peace prize? You crazy people.

Mark in St. Louis   July 28th, 2009 1:33 pm ET

Obama’s secrecy make us wonder. it's his fault that there is a controversy.

donatella (from Romania)   July 29th, 2009 11:30 am ET

why we are crazy, Mark?
Michael did a lot of good things for this world?
And I don't have to mention all the good things he did for this planet that we destroiy it every day...!!
Did you do something for it? I don't think so...

Everybody who loves Michael Jackson knows very well what he really he helped the children, the planet.... quiet, please!

I am a 71 Year old black man who has suffered from the uneven hands of the police many times. I don't know what planet Larry Elder grew up on. It's just like in the old days, when the abusers would pull out one of the abused to say that they are treating us well.

It is a valid birth certificate, but it is actually a copy of the original. The original created by the hospital is missing.

Also, a tribe and a village in Kenya claims that he was born there.

makes me wonder.

Mark in St. Louis   August 2nd, 2009 5:00 am ET

donatella, why insult me so? You don't know me.

just give a list of all that MJ has done, we'll see.
