I am a Canadian.

CANADIANS CAN CHOOSE THEIR OWN DOCTORS

CANADIANS CAN CHOOSE THEIR OWN DOCTORS
CANADIANS CAN CHOOSE THEIR OWN DOCTORS
CANADIANS CAN CHOOSE THEIR OWN DOCTORS
CANADIANS CAN CHOOSE THEIR OWN DOCTORS

Larry, please set the record straight.

Linda from New York   July 22nd, 2009 11:34 am ET

Liz Cheney was so rude, it was unbelievable. Please do not have her on your show again. She kept interrupting James Carvell. He was trying to be gracious, I give him alot of credit for not telling her off on national television. Who does whe think she is?

brendan   July 22nd, 2009 11:37 am ET

Mr King, when I hear these idiots from the GOP rant about how we Canadians do not get to choose our own doctor my head seems about ready to explode. Does no one ever think of checking with real Canadians, not the ones who appear on the anti gov health reform ads that keep popping up. Our health service here in Canada is not perfect but neither I or my family have ever had to worry about either paying a mortgage or go see a doctor, a doctor of our choice not some doctor the "government" send us to. Such a ridiculous claim.. The only "perfect" health system seems to be for the very wealthy who can afford to go to private clincs, go to the front of the line, or your members of congress, senate etc, but in the real world where the majority of us live, Canada does just fine, thank you !!

Barbette   July 22nd, 2009 11:40 am ET

I hate to see James Carville reduced to arguing with Cheney's spawn. Typical VENOMOUS republican B.S. coming from the CHENEY-ETTE! If I had a father like hers – who will go down in history as THE MAN WHO TRIED AS HARD AS HE COULD TO WRECK AMERICA and has come as close as possible as anyone since NIXON – thank god we FIRED HIM and his cohorts JUST IN TIME! I have to admit being tickled hearing her listings of policy woes CREATED BY HER FATHER, trying to blame them on OBAMA! She needs to STEP OFF! Hey Lynn, I think I hear some gay rights groups calling – go work for them!

Gloria   July 22nd, 2009 11:46 am ET

Ditto. Liz Cheney was so sickening that I (a mild mannered 60 year old woman) was screaming at my TV for her to SHUT UP!!!! Please never have her on again. Not only is she rude, she gets angry when anyone disagrees with her or tries to tell her what to do. Like a BIG ANGRY CHILD. SHE IS AWFUL!!!! I felt bad for Larry King because she couldn't be controlled, and for James Carville as well. The guys might as well have put duct tape over their mouths, as she was NOT giving up the floor to even her gracious host!!!!!

Brian Smith   July 22nd, 2009 11:56 am ET

Simply amazing how many political experts in the US are giving wrong information about Canada's universal healthcare. Liz Cheney needs to do some research and stop giving out the wrong information. In Canada we do choose our own doctor and that doctor prescribes the medication they choose to.

Yes there are wait times for specialists, but that is because Canada has a shortage of doctors and specialists. You have no idea what a great system this is and the government does not interfere very much.

Lou   July 22nd, 2009 12:00 pm ET

The whole segment was a travesty. Liz Cheney and Larry King both treated James Carville rudely. Arrogant, obnoxious behavior must be a Cheney trait. Hats off to Carville for being a gentleman.

As for her response to the question about Obama's nationality, she is just embracing the same racism that has become so rampant among Republicans. "Fringe Republican" is a redundant term.

george   July 22nd, 2009 12:01 pm ET

where are all the nice Republicans like Bob Dole, very respectful..Dan Quayle did not like Italians nor Mario Cuomo, he made fun of Gov Cuomo's 1st name by referring to him as "MAREE-OH"...& a repeat..then who does one of his sons marry? an Oriental girl from the Far East..his son was in the military & was stationed in the far east..Pres Nixon did not like Italians, he said on the Watergate tapes, "they're not like us" Judge John Sirica put his head down in disgust when he heard that, also Rep, Peter Rodino....

Jennifer   July 22nd, 2009 12:18 pm ET

As I watched this last night, I simply just felt disgust. It sickens me that all some people care about are Republican vs Democrat. It sickens me that Republicans want Obama to fail so they win. They don't give a crap about how this country is on it's knees. EVERYONE should be working together for once in this country's history to try to make things better. How can things get better when you have people undermining every move you make? This is what is wrong with this country now...and middle class Americans are paying with blood. How could Liz Cheney possibly identify with hard working Americans? I am sure she's making big money, how could she care about us? She's never had to worry about paying the bills on time or losing a home! All she really wanted to do was run her mouth while Carville was trying to talk. Obama inherited these HUGE problems and she sits there with her smug criticism. The American people are tired of politics. We should all DEMAND that our legislators work together for the good of the people for ONCE!

mc   July 22nd, 2009 12:19 pm ET

Larry,

Ms. Cheny needs to get her facts straight before going on national TV and mis-informming Americans about the Canadian Health Care System.
As a Canadian I would like to set the record straight.
Yes, Canada has the BEST health care system in the world. Its not perfect, but it is the best and the envy of the world.
All Canadians have access to health care.
We Choose our own doctor
We are provided the best care with our highly skilled doctors, health care providers and facilities
We dont have to mortgage our homes to receive this care

Teha   July 22nd, 2009 12:29 pm ET

Rude, ignorant and uninformed. The disinformation Cheney spewed on the Canadian Health Care System is surpassed only by the disinformation her father spewed to create the catastrophic and still continuing war in Iraq. Apparently, even a rotten apple doesn't fall from the tree.

Note to Americans:

In Canada, politicians DO NOT choose the doctors. Just like –
In Iraq, they DID NOT have weapons of mass destruction.

It's just the Republican Party play book (with an assist from the drug company lobby) doing what it does best – spewing fear and disinformation to scare the American people.

Don't fall for it again!

Note to Everyone:

Whenever Liz Cheney appears on the air, let's CHANGE THE CHANNEL!

carol   July 22nd, 2009 12:36 pm ET

As a Canadian, I couldn't agree more with the above comments. News flash Liz ...We choose which ever Dr. we want. Phone a Dr & make an appointment. Quite simple. To see a specialist get a referral from your Dr.

Before this woman speaks does anyone on Larry's staff verify the lies that she is spewing out? I guess if she says on enough interview shows that Canadians have the gov't choose their Dr Americans will believe it.

My GOD if there was anyone who personifies the term "Ugly American" it is Liz Cheney. Why James Carville even bothers to debate this ignorant, racist, rude woman is beyond me.

After 8 yrs the US finally has an educated, elegant man in the White House. She wants to go back to her father's way. Guns, secret torturing, etc in the name of 'keeping America safe'.

Teha   July 22nd, 2009 12:40 pm ET

Gotta love Carville too. A real class act in the face of a rude, uninformed and unprofessional guest.

LOL – "Excuse me, Liz, for talking while you're interrupting me".

Larry: How about a 'mute' switch to cut off rude, interrupting guests that can't follow the simple courteous rules that need to accompany healthy debate. Maybe call it the "the Liz Lever?"

Rose   July 22nd, 2009 1:00 pm ET

Larry: There is no point in doing a show where one of the guests (Liz Cheney) is so grossly misinformed. It's actually trying for viewers to sit through such a frustrating show. Valuable air time should be used for meaningful (if diverse) discussion. Or just can the whole thing.

How can Liz Cheney not know something as simple as Canadians have the absolute right to choose their own doctors. She represents the ignorance of the GOP and their supporters. "Like father, like daughter" – is true in the case of Liz Cheney – and that's not meant to be a complement (understatement of the year). Her constant interruptions of Carville was a vain attempt to trash his good points. Carville came across as the intelligent one.

Do us – your viewers a favor: No more Liz Cheney on your show.

kb   July 22nd, 2009 1:03 pm ET

Liz Cheney has quickly become an ugly American. Some upbringing she must have had. Hope she's not abusing her 5 kids with all of these spinning and making up the truth that she is so good at. What a horrible family. What horrible human beings they must be. And they all go to church, for what : to get away with their lies and BS. PATHETIC!!!

carol   July 22nd, 2009 1:19 pm ET

To Larry & the Producers,

If you truly consider Larry King Live a news show & not a tabloid show, well then the first thing you should do tonite is have Larry open the show with a statement saying that Liz Cheney's comments on last nite's show on the Canadian Health Care System were 100% false. Canadians can choose any Dr. they want.

louie   July 22nd, 2009 1:37 pm ET

Cheney is like her parents....the epitome of dishonesty...they do not care,,they are rich rich..they would not be seen in a soup kitchen like Mrs Obama did helping the poor...they do not know what poverty is,,,she probably has 5 nannies helping w/5 children, she has time to help the poor..

Mary Anne   July 22nd, 2009 1:39 pm ET

Although I need no convincing to disagree with any of Liz Cheney's political views, it would be nice to even HEAR the thoughts and opinions of your other guest(s). James Carville showed nothing but class and intelligence last night. Liz Cheney was extremely rude and ignorant. All we need to do is let the Republicans continue as they are and they will implode. Please do not have her on your show again. A debate needs to be between TWO people.

Valdene   July 22nd, 2009 1:46 pm ET

Larry, Canadians are mild mannered folk, but don't attack our health care or we'll rip your gall bladder out. In all seriousness, Canada didn't always have universal health care and I think enough people are alive who remember what it was like when we did not have it to fight to keep ou, imperfect but pretty good system. For petes sake, we live right next door should you not have accurate information about our health care system. It really doesn't affect Canadians if Amercians want to be lied to and continute to be under or not insured at all, but could someone in the news room at least try to get the facts right, so you can refute brain dead comments by the likes of Liz Cheney. Now I'm off to take my baby to see the doctor (whom I chose) who helped bring her safely in the world, and I don't even have to take him a cheque.

Rose   July 22nd, 2009 1:47 pm ET

Liz Cheney and the Republicans main problem is that they are trying to derail Obama's Health Care initiatives at any cost – including spreading lies about the Canadian health care system. Cheney's constant: "You don't want America to be like Canada where you can't even choose your doctor" was a blatant lie. She kept repeating it.

There are so many positive aspects to the Canadian health care system that it's puts the US to shame. For starters, no one goes bankrupt paying for "any" health care treatment in Canada. Liz Cheney's statements confirms how desperate the Republican party is. Lies, lies and more lies. Anyone with such close proximity from Dick Cheney has learned from the best.

"Fear and doubt" – the Republican mantra continues. Tell big lies until others believe it to be the truth, then con them into supporting the GOP.

Kathie   July 22nd, 2009 2:30 pm ET

Liz Cheney sure is her father's daughter. She has the same missing
gene that supplies a conscience. Like her father she can look
right in the camera and tell bold faced lies to suit her agenda.
Like her father she never let's the truth or the real facts get in the
way of the stories they spin to reach their goals of spreading
mass misinformation.
Poor Ms Cheney has the Canadian health care system confused
with the Americans Medicare system.

Aaron Waisler   July 22nd, 2009 2:35 pm ET

Hi Larry,

Love your show!! I want to comment about Joe Jackson. From a lot of the things I've heard him say regarding the "Jackson 3" amongst a whole slew of other things, I don't think he cares that much about his son. During an interview with Don Lemon, in the middle of talking about his son's tragic death, he announced his new record company. I thought that was a big mistake. That led many people, including me, to believe that he really didn't care about his son. As for the allegations that his estranged wife, Katherine, was responsible for the beatings, is probably not true. She seems like a very caring woman. Joe, on the other hand, is ignorant.

Heather Stewart   July 22nd, 2009 2:44 pm ET

I have been on Canada's Health Care for 73 years and have always picked my own Doctor and he decides my perscriptions as needed. If a specialist is needed my own Doctor sends me to him or her not the government. I wish Americans would do some homework for a change where Canada is concerned. I think we are blessed to live in a country where when you have a major illness it is taken care of by our medical plan and not leave anyone homeless trying to get care.I have had surgery etc. and it was all paid for by my health care plan.To have someone as ignorant of us as Liz Cheney is really makes one wonder how well you know other countries and the people living in them. Next time try asking a Canadian and get some truth in the program.

Soothe   July 22nd, 2009 2:44 pm ET

Where did they dig up this woman from Waterdown, Ontario to
do their dirty work ads for them ?
They not only operated and removed her brain tumour in the
States, they also removed her brain and replaced it with a republican one .
I'd just like to tell her if she she thinks the heath care down
there is so great, grab your passport sweety and i'll
be happy to drive you to the border.
What she isn't telling you is that she has had to borrow hundreds
and thousands of dollars from family and friends to try and pay
those medical bills from down there.

Judith   July 22nd, 2009 2:54 pm ET

Larry it at the best interest for the American People you should collect everything that ones have said on the blog about the lies by the Republican Party what the Canadians think about their Health Care and how they love it.Give it to All the Cnn news people and for the sake of the Amerians have ones start reporting it instead of some that report negative issues against President Obama like Lou Dobbs.
Lou Dobbs use to report the real news of the inside but he's starting to get like Glen Beck when he wants to start trouble and bring out the birth record of Obama.
If the Republicans have their way all of us True Americans will have to travel around with our birth record including you Larry and your children because some that are nuts actually belieive them.

James B Bell   July 22nd, 2009 2:58 pm ET

I just want to say that I work nights and tape Larry King Live every night to watch when I get home. Last night was terrible. When CNN lets someone interrupt another person all the time and does nothing about it. I am a middle of the road person and like to hear both sides to different issues. I will say that if I ever watch another show that CNN lets one person be so rude I can guarantee this that I will not watch Larry King again. I know that this does not bother any one there but I feel that the mic. of the pereson being so rude should be turned off so both sides can be heard.
James B Bell

Judith   July 22nd, 2009 2:58 pm ET

One more thing for Liz Cheney. You Liz talk about Obama not being able to be strong for America. You think one that throws their weight around like your dad are the true strong ones.Wake up Liz and smell the java.Obama is a True Strong President when he thinks Before acting like Bush/Cheney did when they went into Iraq telling us lies of why we had to go to War.
A Strong person doesn't have their daughter going around speaking for them on Fox News 9 times out of 11 weeks and continue going around flapping their jaw.Your father was the VP not you unless you Liz were the silent one acting like the VP.

Colin   July 22nd, 2009 3:05 pm ET

Never, never ,never have her on your show again.

Liz Cheney's facts were all wrong and as a reporter you need to correct her when she falsely states facts. You also need to cut her mic when she continues to speak out of turn. I don't mind a heated debt but you need to let the other participant speak in order counter the brainless idiots false remarks.

If our healthcare system is so great why do we only rank in the 30's when compared to the other industrial nations.

xandy   July 22nd, 2009 3:11 pm ET

Liz Cheney was SO rude last night on your show. I tried to find a website for her so that I could send a "personal" email, but was unsuccessful. Women like her and her ilk (read Sarah Palin) cannot begin to pretend to be feminists. They have been so brainwashed by culture and their "daddies" that they have no independent thought left. I feel sad that such women exist in this day and age. I think perhaps they have been so overly protected with money that they have absolutely no idea how the rest of the world lives. Much less the women of it.

ckelly   July 22nd, 2009 3:24 pm ET

Hi Larry and CNN producers

Clearly from the hundreds of Canadians writing in and saying the exact same thing-NOT ONE CANADIAN DISSENTER!!!!!!!_

CANADIANS CHOOSE THEIR OWN DOCTORS< PAY NOTHING FOR EXCELLENT HEALTH CARE WHEN ILL:

Canadians recognize its not perfect but are very happy with their health care-you had hundreds of responses saying this too you-its just crazy-

its crazy that we hear lies everyday on CNN with regards to our health care and that a couple television ads are played over and over and over stating mis-truth OR an anecdotal story and scaring everyone..

Please provide some balance to this issue-

Colleen Kelly
Vancouver, BC

Avery   July 22nd, 2009 3:31 pm ET

My aunt lives in Canada and says they choose their doctors, that healthcare is a basic right for every citizen, and that their system is a lot better than the American system! If she goes to the doctor and she's the only one in the waiting room she gets in to see her doctor right away. If their are 20 other people then she has to wait her turn. If she has an accident she goes to emergency at the hospital and they take care of you in order of urgency. And if you get cancer you don't have to stop treatments if you can't afford it or go bankrupt or loose your home like Americans do. She also said that yes it can take longer to see a specialist, but again it depends on the waiting list or availability of the doctor. And it's common sense that no system is completely perfect because their are always going to be people who don't know how to take care of themselves or refuse to live a healthier lifestyle after their doctors advice who clog the system. You know the ones who go to the doctor for every little sneeze and sniffle. But again, every Canadian citizen can go to the doctor on a regular basis, as much or a little as they like with no charge. It's a government provided service like education or policing.

Honorine   July 22nd, 2009 3:34 pm ET

That woman was complete disaster. She doesn't even know that facts and plus she is RUDE RUDE RUDE!!!!

What kind of a composed person behaves like that on national tv. Cutting everybody off yet has nothing to offer. See, that's the thing with republicans; they'll criticize your proposition but have absolutely nothing to offer. Poor Larry got caught in the middle. At some point i thought u too were rude to that guy but Liz Cheney was spearheaded.

She should have an interview with Nancy Grace. Perfect match.

Honorine   July 22nd, 2009 3:35 pm ET

meant to say "know the facts"

Bill   July 22nd, 2009 3:38 pm ET

Is it possible to arrange for someone to be on your show that knows something about the CANADIAN HEA|LTH CARE Program?
I'm a Canadian that watches your show every night and I have yet to see someone debate the U.S. Health care vs. The Canadian Health care system that knows something about Canada. Someone who can explain how it's possible for us to survive this (according to Republicans, Big Pharma and Big Insurance Co.'s) SOCIALIZED MEDICINE SYSTEM that provides FREE health care to every Canadian...
Next time you have Liz Cheney or any other person that wants to keep the U.S. health care system the way it is, please have someone on you show that knows something about Canada and our Health Care System..
James Carville is okay but knows nothing about the Canadian Health Care System. So how can he praise or defend it in a debate with anyone?

carol   July 22nd, 2009 3:44 pm ET

love this message board. Great to see all the Canadians telling the truth to the American audience who was lied to repeatly last nite by Liz Cheney. Why someone would be so against providing universal affordable health care to her fellow citizens is beyond me. No compassion i guess.

I hope as a supposedly reputable news organization. CNN will issue a statement to discredit all the lies Ms Cheney said last nite.

No system is perfect but having Americans lose their homes, or go without health care when sick because they can't afford it is dispicable. I know that in the US you can be turned away from the emergency room of a hospital if you are not insured. You call yourself a civilized country. Sounds Third World to me.

As a proud Canadian I wish my American neigbours good luck in your quest for health care. It never ceases to amaze me what people in the States fight over. Seems to me there is only 1 side to this argument. Quality health care for all.

After watching Liz on Larry last nite...all I can say is I am so proud to be Canadian.

Rose   July 22nd, 2009 3:52 pm ET

Liz Cheney knew exactly what she was doing. She probably had the facts, looked straight into the camera and lied. Lies are the basis of the Republican party. It's foundation. Duping millions of loyal and ignorant GOP supporters right into the voting booth. American pie with filled with worms.

Her father Dick-head Cheney based his entire career on lies. So why should we be surprised. The Cheney family is laughing all the way to the bank, with grotesque ill-gotten gain$ from Iraq-war profit$ – another Cheney manipulation based on lies, while our young soldiers died to line the Cheneys' pockets with Halliburton contracts. The Liz-apple didn't fall too far from that rotten tree. Evil incarnate.

TSAQ   July 22nd, 2009 4:08 pm ET

Is (AMERICA) a (LEGITIMATE) nation? Where in scripture is (AMERICA) located in the (HOLY BIBLE)? Will the (RED MAN) be mentioned in the bill regarding (BIRTH CERTIFICATES) for the presidency? Further, will the (ENSLAVEMENT) of (MY) ancestors be documented in this bill?

Rose   July 22nd, 2009 4:47 pm ET

The on-going false issue of Obama's birth certificate is yet another example of the far right's attempt to focus on the ridiculous instead of accepting the truth. . . that Obama was born in the US.

Any and all attempts to somehow "disqualify" a president-in-office based on absolutely no real facts is the current sorry state of a great number of GOP supporters.

This same group didn't question Bush when he had no evidence of weapons of mass destruction and chose to attack a country (Iraq) that Cheney finally admitted had no links to 9/11. It was off to war, to blow the heads off of men, women and children. Wrong country – oopps!

Rather than account for true misdeeds, the bandwagoning of Obama's birth certificate continues, the recent hysterics of a woman at a Republican meeting, seen on CNN, who wants her "country back". Back from what ma'am. . .an African-American president legitmately elected (unlike GW Bush)? Isn't that the main issue in redneck-country? The true cause of all the hysterics.

That handbasket to hell isn't big enough to fill the overspill of some right-wing supporters, especially those who think that ignorant woman from Alaska would make a fine and dandy president – born and bred American – over the educated Obama.

Terrilyn   July 22nd, 2009 5:22 pm ET

Larry, I love your show and I have been watching you for over 25 years, but last night was it for me! When you are unable to handle a rude, uninformed, uneducated, person like Liz Cheney it is time for me to watch another channel...please do a retraction and apologize for what happened to James Carville, who was nothing but gracious.

I was furious and turned the channel after Larry King kept letting Cheney rant and rave with untrue facts about the Canadian Health Care system and continously interrupting James Carville. Come on Larry, get a handle on your show. I ran the transcripts today and James barely got a word in edgewise to the republician hot bed of hate lies and rant of Liz Cheney.

LacrosseMom   July 22nd, 2009 5:28 pm ET

I am only going to state the obvious.......... (excuse the yelling)

DO THESE IDIOTS REALLY BELIEVE THAT THE FBI......CIA......... NSA.....SUPREME COURT........... GEORGE W. BUSH......... DICK......... AND CONGRESS ........... WOULD ALLOW A ........NON-CITIZEN TO BECOME......... PRESIDENT?

AND....... EVERYONE ......HAS A ..........COPY......... OF THEIR BIRTH CERTIFICATE....... THE ORIGINAL IS WITH THE COUNTY!

IDIOTS.

LacrosseMom   July 22nd, 2009 5:29 pm ET

PS. WHY IS CHENEY THE LIAR ON LARRY KING?

LARRY, WE WONT WATCH YOUR SHOW WHEN LIARS ARE ON!

Sheryl   July 22nd, 2009 5:38 pm ET

Amen to all above. Larry, take up that idea of having REAL citizens from Canada on your show, an average citizen and maybe someone who knows their health care policy. Love your coverage of Michael Jackson. I had to stay with your awful Liz guest in order to make sure I didn't miss the upcoming segment on Michael. I do watch your show every night, but I won't tune in if I see that Liz is scheduled to be on again.

Sheryl   July 22nd, 2009 5:41 pm ET

On second thought, I'll bet you craftily allowed Liz to run off at the mouth so that all your viewers could get an accurate picture of her. YOU ARE A MASTER INTERVIEWER!

Terrilyn   July 22nd, 2009 6:03 pm ET

Ahhhhhhhh, You have a wonderful point...perhaps that was what Larry King was doing, ok, now that makes great sense. He is the master of all interviewers. Great point Sheryl.

Imelda   July 22nd, 2009 6:04 pm ET

I do not know with this country being one of the top 10 best countries in the world in terms of living conditions but a 3rd world country like Philippines is doing well with their universal health care system. a 3rd world country! My brother (in the Philippines) is a national health care member, my mom & older brother are not: guess what? my older brother & mom can use my younger brother's health benefits when they need to and unless the member himself will not use it. if all the family member is working and a health care member then that's better. most working Filipinos-when this came about-did not know that they were already covered by a national health care. they just woke up to find out congress/senate unanimously approved this bill. honestly, most Filipinos don't get terminally sick (diabetes, cancer, autoimmune diseases, etc.) but if you want to see the doctor every month for preventive care-then you are free to do so. you better see the doctor every month then since you are being taxed/month for it anyway! otherwise, you only see the doctor when you're ill. Philippines must not have the best medical facilities: everything is imported from either here or Europe or even out-dated. but no one can dispute the fact that we have the best nurses & doctors in the country. 8 out of 10 Filipinos get health care.

the ideals of the RA (republic act) was simple: to care...

SEC. 2. Declaration of Principles and Policies. – Section II, Article XIII of the 1987 Constitution of the
Republic of the Philippines declares that the State shall adopt an integrated and comprehensive approach to
health development which shall endeavor to make essential goods, health and other social services available to all
the people at affordable cost. Priority of the needs of the underprivileged, sick, elderly, disabled, women, and
children shall be recognized. Likewise, it shall be the policy of the State to provide free medical care to paupers.

So far my younger brother hasn't complained yet. it benefits our mom & other loved one's.

sammy   July 22nd, 2009 6:08 pm ET

kb,,like your post ...strange horrible family ,,

brendan   July 22nd, 2009 6:10 pm ET

We have all, by now, seen the ads decrying Canadian health care system, so I found this very interesting.
If only reporters were more than "talking heads" then this type of healthcare lie would be exposed. If the claims in this article are correct, debunking the lies that this ad spouts should be very easily verified. Americans need to make decisions based on truth, facts and not what would be best for the insurance companies, lobbyists.

Malaika Afrika   July 22nd, 2009 6:42 pm ET

Larry c'mon this Liz is annoying, i cnt stand her, wat is she on abt?

Geraldine   July 22nd, 2009 6:42 pm ET

SHE WAS TERRIBLE !

I could not believe how rude she was to repeatedly interrupt, cut-in, step-all-over the other guest's chance to speak. The GOP seems to be putting quite a bit of their political come-back hopes in this woman, but I really do not like the way she tries to brain-storm her way into things!

I believe she should stop trying to live up to her Dad's expectations and go home and take care of her young family. Perhaps that was what had her so coiled-up last night, she really seemed to be trying to do too much, and possibly was torn between two different factors in her life! But something was definitely wrong in the way she kept stepping all over Carville, to the point that it made her seem like she had more on her plate then she needed last night !

kathy   July 22nd, 2009 6:42 pm ET

Mr. King I watch your show all the time and I HAVE TO TELL YOU I was very upset that all this garbage was said about our health system –Leave our system alone we are doing just fine– no one– looses their home to pay for medical treatments -everyone gets taken care of –We choose our own doctor and if we don't like that one we get a defferent one right away -we don't need ANY government approvel. I am so disappointed that you would let someone like cheney on your show talking on on on on on on and about a subject she knows NOTHING about.. And you let her go on, on, on, on she drove me over the edge. If she ever shows up on your show again I will dive for the remote to shut her up opps, I mean off.

canadian   July 22nd, 2009 6:45 pm ET

I agree with Al Williams

CANADIANS CAN CHOOSE THEIR OWN DOCTORS..
CANADIANS CAN CHOOSE THEIR OWN DOCTORS..
CANADIANS CAN CHOOSE THEIR OWN DOCTORS.............

Geraldine   July 22nd, 2009 6:54 pm ET

Because Liz Cheney was so adamant concerning the GOP's opposition concerning Pres. Obama's proposed Healthcare Reform, I found myself supporting it more !

MANITOBA   July 22nd, 2009 6:54 pm ET

Mr. King I would like to add a subject about your health care system.. I live in Manitoba, Canada and we get bus loads of american seniors crossing the border AND its not to sight see- they cross the border to get their perscriptions filled because our medications are much cheaper.. Cover this on your show some time –your seniors work all their lives and have to go to another country to get affordable medication. NOW THAT IS PATHETIC - United is not a word the americans should utter unless they want to take care of their poor..

a little ol canadian   July 22nd, 2009 7:09 pm ET

UNITED States of America -is that title a lie or just for the wealthy -As a Canadian I thought it stood for all together, as one, UNITED –I get the impression, regarding your health system, it doesn't cover the poor –Please prove me wrong...........................................

Rarely, have I seen someone behave so rudely as Liz Cheney did on last night's show. Also, I don't want the republican response to be from her, as I believe she twists information and is not well informed. I will not be watching CNN whenever she is on.

Traveler   July 22nd, 2009 7:17 pm ET

Ms. Cheney's father was untrustworthy and dishonorable. Like father, like daughter? It seems so.

shark   July 22nd, 2009 7:52 pm ET

The the fruit don't fall far from the tree. Her concept what's good for the country is just like her father. The whole world knows where that got us.I wish that the GOP start putting effort toward helping solving problems of the this country . Their whole agenda seem to be attack the democracts.Liz Cheney need to learn some debate manners and do her home work before open her mouth. The canadians arn't complaining about their health care.

Annette   July 22nd, 2009 7:59 pm ET

LIz Cheney should not be paired with James Carville again–I enjoy so much listening to James–he is dignified, intelligent, fair-minded, and experienced. Liz Cheney does nothing more than my teen-age son-talkover the other person and continue to talk not allowing the other person any air time (this borders on bullying!). Plus her lack of denouncement on the video clip of the woman demanding Obama's birth certificate was appalling. Even John McCain had to intervene when another lunatic called Obama a Muslim. Do NOT support a lunatic fringe in our country that probably does not even know what the Bill of Rights is. James was correct–it was simply lunacy and for the Republicans to not even denounce that shows they are digging in the wrong direction for support.

Producers of the Larry King Live Show...
A suggestion for a 1 hr. production on the topic of Health Insurance Reform, currently a 'hot topic' in the U.S.A....
Suggested participants with Larry King as the moderator.
(!) An Uninsured American.
(2) An Insured American.
(3) A Republican ('if you can find one') that will debate the merits of the U.S. health system vs. the Canadian health system.
(4) A Democrat that will represent the Presidents position on Health Care Reform.
(5) A Canadian health professional that will dispel the myths and lies now being advertised on the U.S. media paid for by U.S. Pharmaceutical Co.'s, U.S. Health Insurance. Co.'s and the Republican P A C's money...
Telling the American public the truth about the Canadian Health Care Program will let them decide about what type of Health Care their Congressman should vote for...

I was appalled last night ,, with the comments by Liz Cheney// that Canadians can't pick thier own doctors..is she completely .. or she didn't do her homework...Canada had the same growing pains in the 70"s the problems are the insurance companys and the caps on the doctors ... we have a great system ...I go to any specialist or have any treatment ,, with no thought of payment.. how great is that....they are also running a commercial about a women having to go to the state's for treatment .. Farrah Fasett with all her insurence went to Germany .. it happens .. sometimes you have to follow a new teatment .... Gosh people support this President..... it wonderful to walk into any hospital and use a plastic card ,,and get the best care and no payments......

bill, you have a point here. LKL should do this stint

Brian Smith from Toronto   July 22nd, 2009 8:29 pm ET

I am glad, that so many are interested in the truth about Canada’s universal healthcare.

My 3 sons were all born in different hospitals, in different cities, always with the doctors of our choice. And it followed with a myriad of stitches, broken bones, ear infections, and all the usual kid stuff.

My mother had debilitating rheumatoid arthritis and had ankle, knee and hips replacements; both legs. My father had severe kidney failure, several surgeries and dialysis 3 times a week.

And there was never a check written; simply present your health card. It really is an awesome system when you need it.

The costs not covered, are prescription drugs, and most Canadians have this covered, along with dental and eye care, through employer or private plans.

Donna Gushue   July 22nd, 2009 8:32 pm ET

I am a Canadian who lived in western New York state for 12 years. Liz Cheney gave erroneous information. Canadians absolutely can choose their own doctor. Perhaps she is confusing the fact that entry is through a family physician who refers to specialists when appropriate. One is allowed to ask for a second opinion if one does not, for some reason, agree with the specialist or "relate" to the specialist. She is using erroneous information to turn people against covering everyone for health care.

When I lived in NY, I had enough money as an entreprenuer in a small business who could s purchase health care. I was lucky. But my one employee had no medical insurance and could not afford a brain scan when she had persistent headaches, and another's daughter in another year, had a perforated appendix because she could not afford to pay to go to a family physician visit when she had stomach pains and ended up in emergency and the state paid for an operation. Both my husband and myself had "instant" care whether it was an emergency or not. We also got tests that were not really necessary and I question why we should get care and not other people.

Another example is a friend who moved to another state to retire. She had been an entrepreneur and had group coverage through a Chamber of Commerce which ended with her business. In her new state she could not get coverage because after she arrived there her doctor from the previous state wrote her to say her last test showed she had leukemia. She had to wait 2 or 3 years to become 65 and have coverage. Now she needs a bone marrow and chemo as soon as she became 65.

A country will be judged by the way it looks after its "vulnerable". The US system costs more and covers less people. Yes there are problems with the health care in other country but it sure is not as bad as being in a country where only the wealthy get good care. How can you try to spread democracy as a form of government and not support some form of Universal Health Care?

I am listening to your president speak as I write this note. I hope that people listening understand what he is saying.

Elizabeth   July 22nd, 2009 8:32 pm ET

Larry Liz Cheney was so rude last night on your show this is the second time i have watched her on the show and she rants on knowing nothing about the heathcare in canada at all, also the u.k they both have the best healthcare in the world and if u.s.a. goes with president Obamas plan they will like it believe me Elizabeth

Terrilyn   July 22nd, 2009 8:54 pm ET

I would like to add another point to this discussion pertaining Liz Cheney.
After watching the many republican women pundits during the Presidential campaign and now afterwards it appears they all have the same style of speaking. Constant interrupting, run on sentences, a dominance of the conversation with a high pitched yet monotone voice and that creepy little arrogance which comes up when you put them in their place. For instance, when James mentioned about Sarah Palin's poll numbers , Liz smiled that smirk smile and once again interuppted and said, Yes and the more you talk about those numbers the more her numbers will go up". Liz says these things with a sly smirk on her face as I noticed Sarah Palin did and President Bush's press secretary. They all, with the exception of James Carville's wife must have the same speech coach and they must all follow the same format. It is very Roveish and Foxish, wouldn't you agree?

Terry, TX   July 22nd, 2009 9:19 pm ET

Go Liza Cheney....James Carville did you get your talking points from Rahm Emmanuel this morning....you are so not credible....everytime you open your mouth. You and Belago need to go to MSNBC....or better yet continue to write for the Huffington Rag.

kb   July 22nd, 2009 9:22 pm ET

Majority of republican talking head women [and men too, but we r talking about Liz] sound alike in one aspect. They are so willingly and shamelessly spinning everything and anything their way. They are always so good at insulting people's intelligence. They play their cards to bigots and the uneducated at all time. America NEVER comes first for them, their party comes first and foremost.
How could they get a good night sleep? Where is their conscience? All these pretty scary women : The Nicolle Wallaces, the Dana Perrinos, the Fran Townsends, the Cheney girls, the Michele Malkins, the Ann Coulters, the Bay Buchanans et al. To have them picked Sarah Palin to run the country alone is disgusting.
Why can't we hear from good all intelligent Republican women like Peggy Noonan, like Katharine Parker, instead of all these Tonya Hardings BS.

Elaine Cuff   July 22nd, 2009 9:29 pm ET

Where does Liz Cheney get her information about Canadian medicine? She is so misinformed!!! We have wonderful medical care that sometimes we don't even apppreciate. I would gladly pay tax to know that my fellow Canadians and I can have medical coverage. Yes we have long waits for some procedures but the exaggerated things the (mostly) conservative Americans are saying baffle me.

How can a country that claims to be the best in the world look the other way while their fellow citizens suffer and die because they can't afford health care. You should be ashamed.

Frank   July 22nd, 2009 10:08 pm ET

It is unfortunate that Liz Cheney is so misinformed about the Canadian Health Care system. I am a physician who trained in Canada, in England and in the US and have practised in Canada for 34 years. The truth about healthcare in Canda is:
1. EVERBODY is covered, not just the wealthy. Everybody is covered by Provincial insurance plans. The premiums are determined by income, those with low or no income have the premiums covered by the government. As a physician I do not know the financial status of the patient and everyone receives the same treatment.
2. Doctors practise fee for service and are not on any type of government salary. They bill the health plan for all services.
3. People chose their own family doctor. Family doctors make appropriate referrals to specialists,
4. All hospital costs are covered by the government and there is no discrimination because of financial means.
5. Drug costs come under Provincial Phamacare plans with a deductable paid by the patient and the rest by the government. The dedictable is determined by the persons taxable income. If the income is low the government pays for the full costs. Third party coverage usually pays for 80% of costs not covered by the government.
6. The results of Cancer treatment in Canada are as good, and often better than anywhere else in the world.
7. Provincial health care in Canada is transportable and people in any Province receive the same care if they travel to any other Province.
8. The healthcare in Canada is superior to the US if measured by the neonatal death rate, longevity, and quality of life versus the cost. The US has the highest costs in the world but does not have the best healthcare.
9. Physicians in the US order multiple needless tests because of the fear of litigation
10. Yes, there are waiting times in Canada for elective surgery and some things like MR scans, but urgent investigations are done appropriately.
11. The Canadian system is built on equality, compassion, and outcome assessment. The American system is built on ???? – false information and politics.

ruthie   July 22nd, 2009 10:16 pm ET

kb is correct..and they go to church & what for? they Cheneys & Bushes & K Rove all want Pres Obama to fail...they are in for a huge surprise...we were pretty much down in the dumps for 8 yrs w/the Bushes....his Mom said on Oprah 9 yrs ago, "H'es the black sheep in the family"..Cheney & Bush never went to war, Cheney with 5 or more deferrments..will Liz Cheney send her children to war ?.

Martin Matthews   July 22nd, 2009 10:28 pm ET

Mr. King: It appears that Liz Cheney has all the wrong information about the Canadian Health Care System. I am a Canadian and I am very happy with our present Health Care System. Just for your information I do not have to wait for my government's permission to go and see a Doctor of their choice. I can any see any Doctor that I want to see. Yes we do have some glitches like any other system does. However not the problems which Liz Cheney thinks we have. Canadians are upset with her comments about our system and they have every reason to be so.

Liz Cheney does not help the American probem with arrogance. After all ,look who she learned it from. However Mr. Carville in my books is a perfect gentleman. He knew she was totally wrong and kept quiet about it . Good for you Mr. Carville. I score it 10 for Mr. Carville and 0 for Liz Cheney.

Lori from Pittsburgh, PA   July 22nd, 2009 10:58 pm ET

I listened and watched the interaction between Cheney and Carville last night. James Carville might very well be crazy if he really thinks the VA Hospitals in this country are top notch. I am in the healthcare field and I have seen these facilities with my own eyes. These hosptials are filthy dirty, they lack new equipment and they are not well run facilities by any means! The veterans certainly deserve better for their sacrifice to our country. James needs to make a visit to the local VA Hospital to learn fully about what governement run healthcare is all about...it's a disgrace!

WITH AWE AND DISGUST DO I WATCH THE CHICKEN-COOP BICKERING ENCOURAGED BY YOUR SHOW OR THAT OF LOU DOBBS, AN OBVIOUSLY CONVINCED REPUBLICAN, OR THAT OF CAFFERTY, ANOTHER ANCHOR ENJOYING BACK-BITING AND VULGARITY. HOW SAD IT IS, INDEED, TO SEE AN ARROGANT CHARACTER SUCH AS LIZ CHENEY DISRESPECTFULLY TAKING CONTROL OF CNN'S DEBATE TIME BY CEASELESSLY INTERRUPTING HER COUNTERPART ONLY TO PROMOTE RIGHT-WING, EMPTY, FEAR-FUELING DEMAGOGY. AN INSULT TO PEOPLE'S INTELLIGENCE!

SHOWING CANADIANS WHO ARE SPEAKING ILL ABOUT THEIR COUNTRY IS ANOTHER SHAMEFUL INITIATIVE, AND THE WOMAN WHO IS OFTEN SHOWN ON YOUR CHANNEL SHOULD BE URGED, FOR THE SAKE OF TRANSPARENCY, TO SAY HOW MUCH THE OPERATION IN THE STATES COST HER. SINCE NOTHING, ANYWHERE, IS FREE FOR FOREIGNERS, I PRESUME THAT THIS ADVERTISEMENT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY PAID BY THE REPUBLICANS. I AM EMBARRASSED FOR OUR FELLOW CANADIAN, WHO AGREED TO PROMOTE SUCH A DEGRADING AD. I IMAGINE THAT IF AN AMERICAN DID SUCH AN ANTI-PATRIOTIC THING, HE OR SHE WOULD BE NATIONALLY SCOLDED, WITH PUBLIC OUTCRY AND TELEVISED DEMONSTRATIONS.

AS A CANADIAN, I CAN TELL YOU THAT, AFTER BEING DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER, I WAS TREATED UNDER AN EMERGENCY STATUS AND AM NOW HEALED. A FRIEND OF MINE WHO HAD BRAIN TUMOUR HAD THE SAME PROMPT TREATMENT AND IS STILL ALIVE AND IN SUPERB CONDITION, AND MANY OTHER SIMILAR CASES DEMONSTRATE THAT EVERYBODY IN CANADA HAS THE ENSURED ACCESS TO MEDICAL CARE, BE HE OR SHE RICH, FROM MIDDLE CLASS OR POOR.

WE ARE YOUR NEIGHBOUR, A COUNTRY WITH ONE OF THE HIGHEST LIVING STANDARDS ON THE PLANET. AND PERSONS LIKE THE FOX NEWS HOST (BECK) WHO CALLED CANADA AND THE E.U. "CRAPPY COUNTRIES" SHOULD BE REMINDED THAT ALL PROFESSIONS HAVE A DEONTOLOGY CODE, THAT OF A JOURNALIST INCLUDED. MISTER BECK SHOULD ALSO BE REMINDED THAT E.U. IS NOT A COUNTRY.

IT IS PROFOUNDLY REGRETTABLE TO SEE FILTHY-RICH, SELFISH AMERICANS PAYING FOR SUCH ADS. THEY ARE PERHAPS THOSE WHO PROVED LESS PROMPT IN RESCUING THE POORER VICTIMS OF KATRINA...

POLITICIANS AND THE MEDIA SHOULD HAVE THE DECENCY TO STOP FOOLING THOSE AMERICANS LIKELY TO BELIEVE THE CHEAP PROPAGANDA OF OPPORTUNISM AND SELF-INTEREST.

FINALLY, LEAVE CANADA ALONE. IT IS A GREAT COUNTRY. IT IS RESPECTUL OF ITS PEOPLE. AND ITS MEDICAL SYSTEM IS AVAILABLE TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF ITS CITIZENS. THIS MEANS REAL RESPECT FOR THE PEOPLE AND THEIR NEEDS, NOT SOLELY FOR THE RICH AND GREEDY.

Scott   July 23rd, 2009 12:46 am ET

Has there ever been such a clear consensus of opinion on any previous Larry King Live show? I count exactly TWO viewers siding with Ms. Cheney. Everyone else decried her rude, relentless filibustering against the gentlemanly James Carville, and/or called her our for lies about the Canadian health care system.

And yes, I use the term "lies" advisedly: she is venomous, treacherous, unethical, and ruthless, but she is no idiot (which makes her infinitely more dangerous than Sarah Palin). She knows full well the truth about the Canadian system; she also knows that the truth will not scare the masses or bring down President Obama. So she lies. The only new wrinkle she brings to the IGO)Party is, she's learned to smile while she does it. That is the only thing that sets her apart from her war criminal father, and every other talking-point-spouting, blindly partisan hack the RNC trots out to support the deadly status quo.

Larry, I know you were preempted Wednesday, but if you don't at least correct the factual record at some point during Thursday's program, I'll be extremely disappointed. It would be nice to offer apologies to Mr. Carville, too. And to point out the overwhelming opinion against Ms. Cheney in this forum. Please, no "on the one hand"/"on the other" recap of blog entries - sometimes media efforts to show balance result in dishonestly elevating a discredited, fringe opinion to the same level as a rational, more popular.

Mich   July 23rd, 2009 1:24 am ET

Larry, please advise Liz that she is seriously misinformed about the Canadian health care system. She needs to stop talking!!!! I am a Canadian living in Toronto who uses the system and I am a better authority on the subject than she is. The conservatives keep harping on about our system, saying that we cannot choose our own doctors and that government dictates our care. I am here to say…LIZ AND THE CONSERVATIVES ARE CATEGORICALLY WRONG ON THIS SUBJECT!!!! I can go to any doctor I want. No one interferes with my relationship with my doctor(s). I wish she would educate herself before speaking. I have no complaints whatsoever with my health care. There is one major difference in Canada vs. the current US system: no one has to sell their home or go bankrupt here as a result of receiving health care. Illness is hard enough to manage without having to worry about the stress of huge co-pays and doctor bills piling up when insurance falls flat, nor do we have to worry about our insurance carrier cutting us off after illness occurs. I am a 1 year cancer survivor and I received treatment IMMEDIATELY upon my diagnosis (chemo/surgery/radiation) at one of the 5 top cancer hospitals in the world (Princess Margaret Hospital). Treatment in full was completed in 6 months without delay and I have access to a whole team of leaders in cancer research, support groups, therapists, dieticians, etc. This Canadian woman the conservatives keep putting up as their brain tumor “poster child” – obviously she is being paid for service – I am not buying her story and I am calling her out on her bull. Bill Clinton has a great understanding of ours and other nation’s systems as he has done the research and you should have him on to rebut Liz and her tall tales. Better yet, have a Canadian on your show to represent. I am tired of the lies. I think the most important point is that health care should be a non-profit industry – anything else is an insult to humanity.

pam cedeno   July 23rd, 2009 1:56 am ET

Cheney is so typical of the ignorance about Canadian Health Care.....I am a Canadian citizen and I get to choose my own Doctor.....I have never waited to see a specialist....I have family members who have had cancer, diabetes, heart disease who are all alive and well because of our system....they didn't have to wait for surgery or treatment.....I have been to emergency about 5 times in my life and was seen almost immediately each time.....and I have never had to part with a dime for any of this.....most people who speak negatively about our system have never lived in Canada and experienced it.....they spew propaganda because they know the average person won't research what is being said....sure our system is not perfect...but what system can be....if there is a wait for treatment that is the exception not the rule....I am so sick and tired of the misconcepton of long waits and inferior care.....it is simply not true.....the only time the gov't gets involved is when they pay my bill and no one I have ever known has been denied any treatment ever.....if anything our gov't is too lenient with paying for health care as I have known several people who have had cosmetic surgery paid for because it was affecting their mental health......as for taxes.....yes we pay alot but our incomes are a lot higher and it all evens out in the end.....bottom line is no one in Canada has ever been bankrupt, had to sell property or put in debt because of medical bills ever!!!!

Brianna   July 23rd, 2009 2:35 am ET

As a Canadian I am pretty damn sick of people in the American media bashing Canada (or any other country in the world other than America for that matter) and grossly misinforming it's masses about our great and wonderful country. We are your neighbor and ally in your wars!! Our country men and women have died for your country!! And all we ever get is dirt kicked in our faces when we turn to your programming!! Infact, if Americans like Liz Cheney took thier heads out of their asses for two minutes they could actually learn something from us! Canada is the one of the only true democracies in the world. Every citizen has access to healthcare and the right to preserve their life with dignity. America's saving grace is voting in a president who is not ignorant to Canada (or the rest of the world).

Keiren from Novia Scotia   July 23rd, 2009 3:43 am ET

Liz Cheney's comments on Canadians not being able to choose thier own doctors and the government chooses who gets what treatments is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard and is completely FALSE. I'd love for her to explain the next time she's on your show how such a sick and twisted regime could be pulled of in democracy such as ours! 'Cause after those comments, I know it's going to be good 🙂

HELLO   July 23rd, 2009 7:32 am ET

Hello, anyone home over there??? Do you know how silly and uninformed cheney was on your show. Dosen't anyone know about how our system work ??????????????????? Yea right we still have Eskinos living in Igloos and Indians still in tepees............How much of your population think that? If they don't know something I'm sure money and scare tactics will convince anyone of anything, after all, Hitler did it to a whole nation for years.

Kathie   July 23rd, 2009 7:51 am ET

One thing everyone has overlooked is the fact that the Republican
party know they lie about major issues and don't care. They count
on the undereducated and misinformed to take the ball of their
lies and run with it , until it becomes a known fact and truthful
in some of the American people's minds.
Fear mongering is what their party is all about. The are doing it
with health care, they did it with WMD until the country finally
were at war.
The Republicans were in control for 8 years and did nothing,
now they are out of power they have all the answers. NOT!
It is their policy to attack and lie about everyone who tries
to do what their country needs.
They are looking more like a cult than a political party everytime
one of them appears on a TV to debate aka bully their adversaries.
Perhaps their party motto should be "shutup and drink your
Koolaide".
Haven't the Republican party made enough enemies for the
United States without adding Canada and the United Kingdom
to the list?

Rose   July 23rd, 2009 10:17 am ET

We all need to realize that Liz Cheney pulled an old political stunt – get a big lie out to the public (i.e. Canadians can't choose their own doctors and do Americans want that system?) – and let the damage spread.

– How many of the unsuspecting, unread Republican supporters who saw Larry's show will believe what she said – Many.
– How many of these people will take the time to log into this and other similar blogs, other media, to learn Cheney is wrong – Few.
– What will be the general (wrong) perception out there with a great many people: That Americans won't be able to choose their own doctors.

It's really a simple formula. It's similar to what was being said against Obama during the election: That he was a Muslim, he was a socialist, he was palling around with terrorists, he doesn't wear a flag pin and is not patriotic, etc. All untrue – YET believed but a large number of Republican voters, because "it was out there".

Liz Cheney knew exactly what she was doing "getting it out there" – and it's a bad reflection on how easily some Americans, especially Republican supporters, allow themselves to be duped. This tactic is a very nasty aspect of American politics. Palin works on the same operative. Well done Dick Cheney – you taught Liz well.

GET A LOAD OF THIS CRAZY LADY ON THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND THE THE GUY SCREAMING YEAH ON THE VIDEO. THEN THE LADY SCREAMS I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK, AS IF THE REST OF US ARE ALIENS FROM ANOTHER PLANET. I'M SORRY THAT MCCAIN DIDN'T WIN THIS TIME AROUND , BUT SOME OF THESE FOLKS IN THIS COUNTRY SHOULD GET A GRIP BEFORE THEY HAVE A HEART ATTACK. THIS COUNTRY IS FILLED WITH PEOPLE OF ALL WALKS OF LIFE, IT'S NOT JUST YOURS ANYMORE.

Soothe   July 23rd, 2009 10:35 am ET

As long as the politicians against American health care reform are allowed to have their pockets lined with money from the lobbiests
for the major health insurance companies and other health
care corporations, there will be no affordable health care in the
United States.

Rose   July 23rd, 2009 10:54 am ET

Exactly Soothe: Lobbiests weild a lot of power and they do support/pay off a lot of politicians. That relationship is a major impediment against progess for Americans. We should examine the reasons why certain politicians oppose health care program initiatives. Is it really for the betterment of Americans? – NOT. Specifically:

– Which lobbiests' pockets do the politicians themselves "reside" in.
– And which lobbiests are "lining" the politicians pockets.
– How much "profit" would the companies who are represented by the lobbiests lose if certain government programs were enacted? Emptier pocket.

Pockets. . .the losers are always the American people.

Fran Yee   July 23rd, 2009 11:06 am ET

For Liz Cheney: I think you should get your facts straight before going on the air. I am a Canadian and no one picks my doctor but ME. I couldn't imagine having to go to ANY hospital and not be covered, as you suggested. Doctors, medication etc, ALL COVERED. I pray I never get sick in the U.S.A. because I would probably die before getting any help. Check it out!

On a separate topic-what is the GOP, any info would be appreciated.

carol   July 23rd, 2009 11:10 am ET

You watch Obama on TV last nite. He is so smart, so well spoken, so classy. As he said 'it is not about me, I have excellent health care."

The compassion this man shows, the honesty he displays makes the US very lucky to have him.

What do Republicans do? They trash his every move.

Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld should be brought up on War Crime charges. What they have done to innocent people in other countries is criminal. What they did to fellow Americans during Hurricane Katrina is equally criminal. We watched in horror as Americans died on the streets of New Orleans in broad daylight while the President flew over the city a few days later seeming oblivious to their suffering. If that is how the Bush Cheney administration treated it's own people imagine what is going on over in Iraq.

If Liz Cheney can spew lies about Canada, a country you border what lies are Americans being told from 'her kind' about countries worlds away.

Wake up & be gratefull that Barack is now in charge. The damage this man has to undo is monumental. Try supporting him.

signed
A proud Canadian.

Rose   July 23rd, 2009 11:35 am ET

The Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld unholy trinity was about gaining and keeping power for themselves. It was never about the American people. They allowed young soldiers to die for their own selfish sakes – just look at the companies "they" control that profitted from that unjust war. The list goes on and on.

Cheney finally admitted that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 – that invasion had nothing to do with freedom. Cheney's company Halliburton, the Bushes' Carlyle Group etc. made bilion$ in war profiteering. Same for the companies that supported and donated to the unholy-trio.

All of this is apparent to any thinking person. What is shocking is the "continued" support of their policies, support of the ignorant Sarah Palin (strong contender for president in 2012!) by the uneducated and equally ignorant Republican base. Stupidity is a major cause of lack of progress and destruction.

Ron   July 23rd, 2009 12:12 pm ET

Please inform you audience when Liz Cheyne will be on the program. I have never heard or seen a more impolite, unconsiderate, biased person. If she is best spoke person the Republican party can find, I feel sorry for them. I never thought much of "shotgun" Cheyne, this apple stayed on the tree,

...many many Americans who so desperately need health care now.

Cheryl-Anne Creelman   July 23rd, 2009 6:12 pm ET

Let's get a few things straight about the Canadian healthcare system:

We can pick our own medical doctor. We are not forced to take whatever is given to us. We are prescriped medications based on the doctor's assessment. We can go to any hospital, clilnic or the like for treatment and are never turned away back onto the street. I have seen a few interviews with Canadians who made the choice to go south of the border for treatment. It was their choice due to a waiting period. If I did not wish to wait for treatment and I could afford it, I'm sure I would go elsewhere too. It would be my choice in the end of what I wanted to do However, this is not a normal occurance and should never be viewed as such. Healthcare should be available to one and all and not for a small portion of the population who can afford a decent health insurance plan. I am thankful each day that I live in a country where healthcare is not for those that can afford it but for everyone.

A. Davis   July 23rd, 2009 8:51 pm ET

James Carville is to be commended for being the perfect Southern gentleman! The rude and obnoxious Ms. Cheney however defies description–I took it for as long as I could. If she is your guest again, you can count me OUT.

Marry   July 24th, 2009 7:17 am ET

I am going through the blog and I am so happy that many people notice what a liar Ms. Cheney is! The poison she spying about healthcare in Canada and on any other topic in this interview is unbelievable! The young Cheney is just like the old Cheney! She is now knowingly misleading the public, just as criminal as her father has been and still is! Money and Death are the company on their way through life – not serving the country or working for betterment and peace. How sad!

(I thought I had previously posted my comments, but can no longer locate these in the blog. Re-submitted, as below.)

As a Canadian who has l lived in three different provinces, I have always been free to go to the doctor and/or hospital of MY choice. Ms Cheney should do her homework BEFORE she makes inaccurate statements about our medical care system which mislead Larry King's viewers.

---------

PRESS RELEASE: This week, LKL has been graduated from the "Povich-Springer School of Tabloid Journalism."

But seriously, it is interesting to see that plenty of airtime is devoted to getting public apologies from various politicians and celebrities who are unfaithful in their marriages (which is NOBODY'S business but their own). And, yet, CNN (as far as I know) has not offered one word of apology – or simply a correction – from Larry King or Liz Cheney for the misleading information about Canadian/USA Health Care Systems (which is EVERYBODY'S business).

Who will be next to graduate: AC-360?

Note: Due to the declining quality of reporting from CNN during the past year or so, I will no longer look to this station for news i.e. newsworthy, legitimate and verified information. There is no shortage of other news sources. (Further, I will not buy the products of the sponsors who advertise on CNN.)

Respectfully submitted . . .

Hey, looks like we fixed that loud mouth Cheney for good, haven't heard hide nor hair from her since, no where. Thank goodness.
