Romney: Sotomayor's statements 'troubling', withholds judgment

Mitt Romney says he finds some of Sonia Sotomayor's past statements 'troubling,' but that he will give her a chance to explain her views.

(CNN) – Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said Thursday he's keeping an open mind when it comes to Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor, but added he finds some of her past statements "troubling."

"There are some things she said that are troubling for those of us who believe that the job of a justice is to follow the law and the constitution, not to create law," said Romney during a forum with business leaders in Washington, DC. "But let's give her the chance to explain her views, to describe her record, and to be party to a full and complete and fair process. And let's do it in a very civil and respectful manner."

Romney's comments are in line with the majority of Republicans on Capitol Hill, who have expressed reservations about President Obama's pick for the high court but have said they will withhold final judgment until her confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

"I think our process in giving the justice – or the nominated justice – an opportunity to state her case, to describe her judicial philosophy, to take us through the decisions she's made in the past, and to have a complete and thorough review, should be a process which is carried out in depth," said Romney, who sought the GOP presidential nomination in 2008. "It should be a civil response to her position."

Give me a break-Why not just give all the Illegal Immigrants immediate citizen status if they register to vote and forget the so-called Amnesty Legislation and the expensive of Supreme Court Cases when you are packing the Court with an Hispanic Judge that makes no bones about her open border and Amnesty leanings-they are a matter of public recors. CNN's big debate about the abortion issue was the biggest farce I have seen. When will the majority of U.S. Citizens fianally realize that they have no voice? So what if 13 to 20 million people are entering the country illegally-this is a great voting block for our political parties to fight over. Partisan Politics shall prevail and the U.S. Economy and strength as a Nation will continue to decline until any little old country can kick dirt in our face!

Unless you are an indian, we are all immigrants to this country, some came earlier, some later. This versatility makes us unique.
There is one binding thing, the english language and there should not be any other official language allowed. It bothered me very much that in Miami in stores people address you in spanish and in restaurants the servers could not speak english at all. It seems it was my duty to learn spanish. Europe has the problem of too many languages, so let´s stay with only one! If an italian, polak, german, greek, turk, swed, russian, etc. could learn english, then the south of the border immigrants should do it, too.

Ted-The designation here is some came legally, some came over the border in a drug convoy. Why not just annex Mexico and forget the Borders? As far as language, I would advise brushing up on Chinese, the way we are making loans from them, to quote our younger generation-"They will own us!" Actually there are three things that I want to see happen first-One is an all "Gay" Beauty Contest with Miss California as a Judge. Two-The first of President Obama's high Speed trains from Detroit to Chicago annexed as capital by the Chinese and renamed the "Orient Express"although I wouldn't mind if Harry Reid's Choo-Choo is also named Express 2. Finally, I want the Supreme Court to come out in full Papal Regalia and sprinkle evolutionary water from Darwin's Fountain on their Atheistic Worshippers.....True justice would then prevail!

For decades white judges sat in the Supreme court and probably often made decisions based on their hateful and ugly feelings for those who look different.

Obama nominates a person they would consider inferior and many are having hiccups.

Why? They can manipulate blacks and set them against each other but not an hispanic against another?

Because she may do for others what hate would not let them do? This in no way translates into going above or beneath the law.

Brilliant choice Obama! Let ignorance and hate be damned! We are ALL from the human race!

As I sit and watch the news sometimes I get upset, I watch two of the nations parties verbally/ politically assault each other. Instead of working together and coming up with ways to strengthen our country the Democrats and Republicans and only dividing us more and more.

We are taught in school that America was built on Life and Liberty and the pursit of happiness. We all know that Some were not suppose to be in that category. Although I never believed that our founding forefathers had the vision of divide and conqueor. Even though throughout Americas history that what seemed to happen.

We as a country have set ourselves back when WE allowed one human being rights not allowed to the other human being. Allowing men to dress in white sheets and terrorize another human being because they didn't have the same skin color, yet we all bleed the same color? America would have been a stronger country centuries ago if we would have not allowed our differences divide us. Instead of creating pride for your country we have created pride for our race. I say this because these politicians act as if it is odd for Sotomayor to belong to such a group that has to do with pride of the race? The odds have been against people of color for too many years. Truthfully there no such thing as a "Pure Race" especially in America. My grandfather told me once that President Lincoln should have put a stop to segregation years ago when the Emancipation Proclamation was established and we would have been more advanced and stronger than we are now. Could that be what Lincoln's goal was and never got the chance? Could that be why President Obama was swore in using Lincoln's bible? America has been divided for TOO LONG and its time to wake and work together? The reason a rainbow is so beautiful is due to all the different colors. Thats what America is a beautiful rainbow of people. In closing if Sotomayor is qualfied lets get some color in the Supreme Court. If not move on find someone else and GET OVER IT! We have more than enough to take care of in this country. Its torture watching two parties constantly nagging like a bunch of children on the playground. Grow Up or Shut Up!

I'm a basic person. If something is illegal, stop it. If Mexicans are refugees, then state that and let them pour in. Set up camps and cull out the drug dealers and ciminals. If they are not refugees, and illegal, then protect the borders. Whatever it takes. I don't want drug dealers and ciminals, more than we have already, here. We do need guns, because our laws are so mixed up. I hate it, but it's fact. If it's about cheap labor, our citizens here need jobs. Stop it. We'll go technical and adapt.

G.-Check out the article on the veteran that cut down the Mexican Flag. As far as your Refugees remark and what we should do about it-Why do all these refugees end up on Congressmen's Estates doing everything from washing dishes to gardening and all without E-verify being checked. Anderson Cooper had a heart wrenching story about an Hispanic Lady that lost her papers and was in danger of being deported. As an old Medical records clerk that used to interview Welfare patients, I can tell you for a fact that if you have valid papers, you don't lose them-it isn't my homework that the dog ate! You show me a person in the Country legally, and they will show you their green card and work papers. Our system is being exploited byu the very people that are supposed to be protecting the u.S. Workers and tax payers-Note the number of appointees that ahve tax problems, etc. -my butt and your butt would be in the slammer for these little oversights!
