How Many Sotomayor Opinions Were Overturned?

Posted: 01:12 AM ET – via Newsweek

art.sotomayor1.cnnQ: What percentage of Sonia Sotomayor's opinions have been overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court?

Have Judge Sotomayor's decisions really been overturned 80 percent of the time as Rush Limbaugh stated on May 26?

A: Three of her opinions have been overturned, which is 1.3 percent of all that she has written and 60 percent of those reviewed by the Supreme Court.

Of the majority opinions that Judge Sonia Sotomayor has authored since becoming an appellate judge in 1998, three of them have been overturned by the Supreme Court.

I pity anyone who believes Lush Rimbuagh's version of reality, since the man lies constantly. He makes a living off of lying, day in and day out, and he just got caught with another one. It doesn't matter to him, since he's already working on tomorrow's lies.

He and his imitators also lied about her speech, just lifted one quote out of context and distorted it in a way that is beyond belief. It was appalling, even by their standards, how they absolutely twisted around everything she said in that speech, calling her a racist when in reality she was giving a talk AGAINST racism. I've seen a lot of bad in American politics in my time, but this was truly a new low is dishonesty and mendacity.

The question is-When will the Sotomayor nomination for Supreme Court be overturned? I personally think that we are going about this whole thing the wrong way! Reappoint the ACLU to the Supreme Court position and the Supreme Court to the U.S. version of the Vatican and actually put the right actors in their proper roles on Shakespear's-the world is a stage theme!

Sorry Mike-but Rush has it right this time. President Obama has joined the ranks of the politicians in D.C. that consider any enforcement of the Constitution as blasphemy and an attempt to infringe upon their right to promote causes that cost the Country billions while they get their campaign millions. The only mistake Bush made was in thinking that robbing the treasury was only his thing-everybody else was doing it too!

Agreed: Rush Limbaugh often does take statements and comments out of context for the sake of debate and/or viewer lead-in and ratings Viewers should understand that angle.

Hopefully it provides the impetus for many to spend a little time investigating the larger picture and arriving at the truth.

Guess Limpbough isn't much of a statistician. With Historians saying that Judge Sotomayor is the most qualified candidate in a hundred years, I guess Limpbough isn't much of a historian. With his hysterical level of racism and misogyny, I guess Limpbough isn't much of an American.

we like her better than Scalia, Thomas, Roberts...she's smarter than all 3 put together..

Judge Sotomayor, because of her multicultural experience, brings a richer insight to issues. Most of us, as Americans, speak from the perspective of people who were raised within one particular culture, with a single view of humanity. We do not have the capacity to comprehend the benefit of a different vision of the world because it is outside our experience. Out of ignorance, we denounce it. A person who is imbued with another culture brings a wider perspective of humanity and can contribute to the discussion and exchange of ideas.

Not if that contribution is or has its own agenda....

Really wish the Founding Fathers had used another term-Supreme means over all, the ultimate, Supreme Beings, reminds me of the joke in the old New Yorker Magazine-little old guy is getting harassed by his wife and kids, takes a cab to work and gets harassed by the driver, goes in to the Supreme Court Building and meets his colleagues and tells them-"You know, once we put on our robes, we're it!" and took his place on the bench.
It would really be great if the Supreme Court realized that being "it" is a huge responsibility and the fact that swore to do their job on a Bible seems to have been overlooked!

Limpbough does not care whether he has a point or not.He simply works like a trumpet to wake up people with or without reason. The judge is what the country needed at this time. Republicans are in a terrible political down slope and this criticism without cause does not benefit the nation and more so when the president is trying his best while they have no alternative suggestion other that barking and fighting. We dont need that now.

A smart-headed woman from whatever race may bring more light to our justistice! And I must applaud from the top of my dreams for the fabulous choice into the NASA also made by the president. It goes over my recent thought that the best award to a national HERO, should be a "space-trip". Now, I really do believe it was not a race matter, but definitely a qualification issue. Thank you Sr. And for those who cannot understand the meaning of the MELTING-POT, deserve a serious re-education that requires the 21st century. Then, their analysis will be less complex! From Epicharmus to Shakespeare, it's always said: knowledge can be found anywhere through any language, just be smarter than the facts...GOD bless AMERICA...

I agree with all Johanna stated. Jesse you have a point....but only a point to ponder....not yet established FACT. I hope we can all be mindful of that. I don't believe Rush or Newt would have NOT found fault with any Obama nomination. As pointed out in others' blogs, the Supreme court does not make the nominee Super Human or superior...without fault or convictions. BumRush and Newt "getrich" are typical examples of being a part of the problem not striving toward solutions. They, especially Rush, THRIVE on making controversey; much like Ann Coulter... whether it makes sense or not Matters Not to these "posers". That is how they make money and headlines. We bite every time...arrgghhh!

“Believe it or not, it is not complicated, but your President Obama is not a stupid man! But in fact he is a very intelligent individual. Please try to listen to your President, and he would help these complicated situations with reformed Health Care. Remember, only all legal American Citizens that live in the U.S.A. can benefit from this situation, and therefore would receive good quality medical Health Care with the presentation of an American Health Card, I.D, and not a credit card for payment of moneys owed for your health, and or your well being. All Canadians that live in Canada have the greatest Health Care system in the world because all Canadians are treated the same regardless that you are rich or poor, or Black or White. Canada’s Health Care System covers all most all medical situations, with little limited situations covering to name a few like: all sicknesses, illnesses, yearly physicals, emergencies, free medications for seniors, capped M.D. wages, capped medical staff, no credit cards, prioritized and reasonable waiting times! The better your jobs Health Care Benefits the more competitive jobs get including lots of bonus or extra benefits, or little extra perks like ward rooms, semi-private rooms, or private rooms. Some plans give extra for braces, and extra stuff like lawyers fees for divorces, wills, plastic surgery, and glasses. Health Care covers most basic medical stuff like: appointments, treatments, travelling accommodations, hotels, to name a few. Remember, if you are not a legal Citizen, then you cannot get a Heath Card, and therefore you cannot get any free medical help without paying, so then you have to pull out your credit cards, and pay like the Americans in the U.S.A. No Canadian Citizen ever paid $1,500/check-up, $150,000/month, or had to mortgage there house ever for any medical illness. We have the option to pay out of Country only if we seek medical treatment without our Doctors signed travel grant approval, or without travel co-ordination anywhere in the world. We also would get re-imbursement or covered if there was an emergency situation anywhere in the world that we were that we paid out money, with proper pay out receipts!"
