Why is CNN wasting air time on a nut-job such as Coulter . . yet again?!

The current Miss California is behaving like a sore loser. Now she's cashing in by doing anti-gay marriage ads. What an opportunist. Aren't crown winners for each state suppose to participate in positive activities such as helping people? It's so obvious that her actions are linked to losing Miss USA.

She's not qualified to be an "anti-anything" spokesperson. She's about as inarticulate as they come – remember "opposite marriage" line?? Miss USA is a "business", she was not bright enough to differentiate between giving a subjective or objective answer. She has chosen the low road by the continuation of the pageant debacle via this "ad".

Personally, I believe in God and an afterlife, but I have no use for any organized religion. I think Jesus really existed, as sort of a populist rebel against the Roman Empire, but I don't believe he was some kind of god-man. Noe do I think that God wrote the Bible, but that it was edited, revised and redacted over 1,000 years.

Maybe Larry King should do a show sometime about whether the Bible is literally true or not, but most scholarship over the past 200 years or so indicates that it is not.

For all these reasons, I can easily support gay marriage, or anything else that consenting adults do. Obama has to be careful of cultural issues, though, less it inspire the Republicans to even greater efforts to derail all his reforms, but personally I believe gays should marry if they want.

I'm so tired of hearing Shanna say that she stands by Miss California. She is not standing by her. Yes, they have a difference of opinion and that's fine but Shanna has been personally attacking Carrie on her blogs and on TV interviews. Now she has revealed some very personal and confidential medical information about Carrie. That is outrageous and completely unprofessional. I think Miss Prejean should seriously consider taking legal action. And just for the record, I am straight but I personally believe that gays should marry if they want to and I believe they should have equal rights. Whatever people want to call it re: civil union or marriage; that should be up to each state to decide. I respect Miss California immensely for sticking to her beliefs. I wish good things for her!

Just an observation-The Ancient Greeks were probably as open minded as any race and openly practiced homosexuality and public orgies plus really wild pool parties and worshipped the human body-their Gods were basically men and women with super powers and very uninhibited but this society did not once confuse the fun and games in sex with marriage-Why is that? Mike-German high scholars tried to disprove the Bible by saying that Isaiah was actually three men that wrote over a long period of time as his Messianic Prophecies were right on and only a person that was around during the crucifixion could be that accurate=all went well until the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered that were scientifically dated as 300 years prior to the crucifixion and Isaiah was complete. If you think that you are the first to question the Divine origin of the Bible, you are not only wrong but at the end of a very long line!

From what I've read, the Old Testament had several writers, such as the J-source, the E-source, the Redactor, and so on. The New Testment has a Q-source (Quelle) which was the sayings of Jesus, although no one knows exactly who wrote the 4 Gospels or when they were written. Then there were other Gospels like Thomas which are not found in the Bible today. Many scholars I've read think that the stories about Jesus being born of a virgin and rising from the dead were added later–Mark, the earliest gospel, has no story of Jesus comin back from the dead, while if Moses really wrote the first five books of gthe Bible, how did he write about his own death? This just means the Bible had many editors over the centuries.

Marriage was always more encompassing than the right understood it as. All the "referendums" these ignoramouses are screaming about are really just discrimination being written into law; like the nazi party did in Germany during the third Reich.

Rocks, trees and dogs cannot say the words "I do" and dont' and can't understand the implications behind it. Children cannot understand the implications behind "I love you" much less "I do", and are not mature and developed enough. Your sister may be hot, and your brother may look good in them tight jeans, but it's the other genes that you need to worry about. As well, there is a conflict of interest between the equal protection clause in the consitution and all of these cases. Poligamy is probably one of the best examples of a "Marriage" that presents that conflict of interest in that it sets the head of household in a position of power and undue influence among it's members.

Two mature adults whether man man, woman man, woman woman, who are capable of understanding the responsibility and implications of "I do" and who have committed no crime and have no intention of committing any crime by their unselfish act of wanting confirmation and affirmation of their equality bear no threat to the traditional family or the "Sanctity of Marriage".

In fact, Gay couples do not add to the level of unwanted pregnancies in that they cannot produce amongst themselves, and yet they pay into this privilege every tax season and have since the beginning of our nation, they may help ease the burden on the foster care system by adopting these children heterosexual couples, for whatever reason have given up.

I can't believe Steven Baldwin's comments on gay marriage! His people's beliefs deny my people their societal rights. My people's beliefs denies nobody their rights. It's really that simple – I'm certain Jesus would agree.

I do not believe that any church should be forced to marry anyone they do not want to marry; however, I do not believe that the civil government has the right to offer all rights to some, and less or none to others.

I feel marriage is between one woman and one man. However, two committed people should be able to legally recognize their union. I know I am no expert in the area of religion or of religious matters, but it seems to me that when it comes to the matter of marriage and people use the Bible as reference as to why it should only be man and woman, that they forget the fact that the bible was created by a bunch of men, not God himself.

Throughout so many decades marriage has been consistently redefined. If marriage has never been redefined, African-Americans could never marry, interracial marriages would be illegal and so would divorce. Obviously, this is not the world we live in today. I do believe that ALL couples should be united under Civil Union Licenses and those that are religious can be considered "MARRIED" by their church. Civil unions shoud be mandated to have equal opportunities and benefits to current marraige laws. If the word "marraige" is a religious term, it should be left to the church and out of the government and the news. I am a Christian woman and have trouble swallowing the word marraige. Marriage should be left to the church. Therefore all civil law should eliminate all social advantages of marriage. Since there is advantage for having two loving people make a relationship for mutual, child rearing, and social benefit, we should transfer all benefits of "marriage" to a civilly established relationship. I live in downtown San Francisco. I was also born and raised here. The building I live in is occupied 50% by gay individuals. At this point in my life, me and my family are being persecuted by a Gay DA in Selma, Al and his name is Michael Jackson. He is formulating and congregating charges against us because we are very vocal about our stance of protecting traditional marriage as God noted in the first book in the Bible. He created man and woman in order to multiply the earth. Two men or two women cannot do this together. The word of God was here before Ms. California. I find that almost all people against gay marriage call themselves Christian and quote the Bible. I personally do not believe the Bible as any more than a fictional history book and don't want it ruling my life or right to marry.

They could have the same rights....they already had them in CA. They wanted it called "Marriage" ....that's the real debate..

The Definition of marriage is 1 man and 1 woman. This has nothing to do with equal rights. It has to do with defining the word marriage. Every human is entitled to equal rights. My partner and have been together 17 years. We are not "out" at work because we dont want to be discriminated against in our pay, benefits, etc. 3 out of 4 of my straight siblings are divorced and 2 out of the 4 never made it to 17 years. All I want is the same benefits straight people have when it comes to taxes, health care issues, etc. I do not understand why people are so threatened by this. The divorce rate is 50%. We dont have the right to marry or have a civil union that is recognized–how are we going to destroy "marriage" any more than 50%. If I cant have the same benefits I shouldnt have to pay the same taxes.

Why is gay marriage such a big deal? Will you be supporting these gay couples? You have no right to judge a gay couple as wrong. You have no right to tell Americans who they can and can not marry. It's none of your business.
Marriage is about two people who love eachother. You can not define marriage only to your conservative close minded belief. This is the USA...what happen to the land of the free?

I am gay and I support gay marriage and gay rights. Marriage is not always between a man and a woman. Marriage is between two people who love each other and want to be with each other. It dosen't matter if the two people are a man and man, or a man and woman, or a woman and a woman. As long as the two people love each other and want to be with each other, that is enough to call it a marriage.

I believe the Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman. Marriage was designed and is God's plan. That said, I think our society is ready for a legalized union between same sex couples. And I do agree that Christians are starting to feel the "heat" or feel persercution. But that is good news for Christians.

Gay marriage is a union that should be celebrated in the context of a union that is singular and unique from the cultural canon of heterosexual marriage. The construct for Gay Marriage should be independent, and created to be unique on the construct of same sex individuals. Why should the gay cultural community be stricken by the poor history of marriage between heterosexuals?. Creating your own cultural history and be vision can be defining empowering and free from conflict.

I think she should not be having any say in gay marriage. They even payed for her implants and now she thinks she can do this?

When this country was founded it was by mostly men who were not religious but secularist. The result was that the constitution as a framework ultimately requires equal protection under the law. The law took time to evolve to the point where there is a seeming conflict regarding “Marrage”.

This country has given married persons in a male-female marrage an advantage in several legal areas that are not available to others.

Several state and local governments have attempted to permit same-sex marrage to get around the seeming injustice of these “advantages”.

It appears that the proponents of same-sex marrage may have taken a wrong turn in their efforts to correct the situation.

In my opinion the governments that permit same-sex marrage should completely stop issuing “Marrage Licenses” The governments should issue “Certificates of Civil Union”
Having the full effect and value of the old “Marrage License”.

Once any two permissible adults enter into a civil union it should be their option to engage a representative of any religious boy or organization of their choice and get “Married”.

It should not be the government’s business to be involved or to sanction any religious representative to officiate and to verify a civil document. This is only a government matter.

It is not in the people’s interest to make some persons unequal under the law.

No one should be denied rights because they were born different, i.e. not straight. I cannot understand why it bothers anyone. Why deny love? There has to be a little hate in people opposed to gay marriage;not god like

Marriage is between one man and one woman. Gay marriage should not be allowed. This is God's plan, not mankinds.

if you love each other enough to get married by all means do it! By the way God did not write the bible, the poeple around Jesus did and there are many different versions of it just as different religions have different marrige cerimonies. For legal purposes any JP sould be able to marry gay's having nothing to do with religion.

When you adopt a child how do you think they are born? from a man and a woman not a man and a man or woman n woman! I dont think Miss California should go through all this media and press and crap just because she answered a question based on how she was raised and i thought it was a very reasonable and great answer to the question. Just because Perez Hilton is gay doesnt mean he has da rite to critizes others for not agreeing wit gay marriages!

What is the problem. If same sex partners want to get married, what is the problem? It is like saying you are against certain books. Then don't read them or certain tv shows, don't watch them. If you are against same sex marriages then marry someone of the opposite sex. What is the problem?
