Another One: Man tries to use Craigslist to lure woman for sex, then kill her

Posted: 12:14 AM ET

By Mark Rahner/The Seattle Times

Washington State – A Kent man has been arrested for investigation of attempted murder after trying to recruit a woman from Craigslist to have sex with and then kill.

The 24-year-old man posted an ad in the "Casual Encounters" section of Craigslist titled "A strange desire," according to Seattle police.

Undercover detectives who saw the ad e-mailed the man, who said that he was looking for someone who wanted to be killed.

A detective instead said he wanted someone killed, and asked that the suspect do it. The suspect agreed, but wanted to be paid for it, police said.

The man had doubled his fee to $2,000 by the time he had exchanged about 30 e-mails with the vice detective. He described what he wanted to do to her and arranged to meet her at a Seattle motel.

What's with all these sickos lately, they should be tried, then executed by firing squad. Disgusting, sick, evil scum who deserve death. I could care less about cruel and unusual punishment; they are freaking animals who should die for being such pathetic examples of humanity!
Those against capital punishment–don't bother giving me your lecture, they are remorseless pigs. I'm not interested in hearing your viewpoint, they are murdering freaks who want to kill innocent people! Even if it is proven they wanted to kill but were unsucessful, they should still be executed for wanting or plotting to do you. They are the true scum of the earth. The laws in America should change to protect the innocent.

Typo correction: should have read "plotting to do so." I was so upset after reading this story I didn't proof-read my entry very well. I regret my error.

I am sorry, I really am, I have two sisters that I really love but if either of them put their name on a Craigslist and then went alone to a man's apartment and got hurt in some way, they wouldn't get much sympathy from me. Right after kicking the guy's rear, I would be kicking theirs! I cannot count how many of these sex crimes are the result of total stupidity-Model's body found in canyon-went alone with a photographer, how many of our Call girls have been beaten and killed, and now we have 24 year old women that give massages in strange men's apartments? This goes beyond stupid and irresponsible-In the old days, we just said that they were asking for it!

@Dave of Detroit,
Your insensitivity toward women who suffer violence by sick men is shameful. These women have my sympathy, obviously not yours, and to say "that they were asking for it" is appalling. If a single women wants to have sex with a man that is her choice, it doesn't give a man the right to abuse her or worst. Your Neanderthal-minded comments against women who suffer violence a the hands of a sex predator are uncalled for and shameful.

Hugh-I worked at a hospital-A Receiving Hospital and have seen the results of very poor street smarts. There is a very old saying-If you play with fire, don't be surprised when you get burned. Incidentally, if you think I am unsympathetic, you should talk to the Women's Division of any Metropolitan Police Department or 911 operator. It would be a real eye and ear opener!

@Dave-Detroit,
Did you forget, "they wouldn’t get much sympathy from me." Your words Dave.

Dave of Detroit   April 29th, 2009 5:30 pm ET

Hugh-I am quite capable of bandaging wounds and bawling them out art the same time!

hugh ~ california   April 29th, 2009 6:44 pm ET

@Dave–Detroit,
I'm sure you like bawling them out Dave, I have no doubt about that!

Dave of Detroit   April 30th, 2009 1:22 pm ET

You win-take care Hugh!

Craigslist is for sickos

Rose   April 30th, 2009 3:12 pm ET

The owner of Craigslist was asked to shut down the "erotic" ads section of the website due to its gross abuse. The owner stated that section was for "legitimate" services such as message parlors, escort agencies etc. and refused to get rid of that section.

Of course, simply shutting down that particular section will not stop crimes, however it is a very easy forum for sexual predators and murderers to anonymously meet their victims. Why can't Craigslist make a minimum effort by shutting that section down and not accomodating the criminals out there. The same can be said for any similar website.

Have "Craigslist" associated with the word "Murderer" can't be a good thing.

hugh ~ california   April 30th, 2009 4:56 pm ET

@Jay,
My point is not to defend Craigslist, but for the vast majority of people who use it for legitimate purposes. I have a neighbor who has bought and sold dozens of personal items like motorcycles, automobiles,car parts, furniture, boats–you name it on Craigslist. Craiglist isn't for sickos, it's just an unfortunate fact that some sickos have used Craigslist with the sole purpose to commit heinous crimes.
