ICYMI: Pastor Rick Warren on LKL last night!

Posted: 08:39 AM ET

Our guest last night on LKL was Pastor Rick Warren – we talked about a wide-range of issues, and here's a portion of the interview:

KING: The Obamas are searching, too, for a church, apparently in Washington. They don't have one. Do you think it's important for the public to see their leader go to church?

WARREN: I think it's important for the public to see our leaders having faith. I think it expresses a sense of humility that says, I recognize that I'm not the end all, be all. It's a good sense of humility and a declaration of dependence upon god. And there are - I could recommend a dozen really good churches in Washington D.C. area. I have a lot of pastor friends of all different styles. You tell me the style you want and I'll tell you a good church in Washington, D.C.

KING: An e-mail question from Mim in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. "Are you a consultant to President Obama as Billy Graham was to previous presidents? Is that a role you would want?"

WARREN: No. In fact, I told the president that. I'm a friend and I'm a prayer partner, but I'm not a consultant. I'm not a pundit. And it's not my role to do that. My role is to help people in their personal lives. I have helped a lot of leaders, both locally and globally, with issues about family and issues about personal stress. That's a pastoral role. I'm a pastor, as you know, Larry. I'm not a politician and I'm not a pundit.

I care about each person individually, whether I happen to agree with them or not. We all have the same basic needs. We all want to be loved. We all want to have a place of service. We all want our lives to count. We all want to know our purpose in life. These are things that everybody deals with.

I'm disturbed that Larry King allowed Rick Warren to outright lie about his support for Proposition 8. Warren in the interview says that:

"During the whole Proposition 8 thing, I never once went to a meeting, never once issued a statement, never—never once even gave an endorsement in the two years Prop 8 was going."

And yet anyone who was alive last year (or who can use Google) can find numerous instances (and even videos!) of him outright endorsing Proposition 8 and giving lengthy justifications for it as well.

Larry leaving this unchallenged is a disservice to his viewers and leaves them more MISinformed after watching his show, which is a shame.

I still think this man is out of the same mold as Jerry Falwell.
He is selective in his "teachings", uses the Bible as an excuse to attack other people outside his belief system, and is one of the people responsible for the perpetration of hate and religious prejudices in our country and around the world. He says he believes in the Bible as literal fact yet won't address the numerous bibical references to stoning people to death for various reasons and to the Bible's condoning of slavery. I think it's because he does not know how to address these ridiculous bibical issues so he sticks to the hell's fire and damnation elements of the Bible that most people have already been brainwashed with, another ageless religious scare tactic. Rick Warren is just another snake oil salesman, a propagandist and twister of the truth who ultimately does more harm to humanity than good in the bigger scheme of things.

Come on Larry. Warren sat there and LIED to you and America. Who dropped the ball and didn't do the research? All you have to do is go to YouTube to see what he really things about the GLBT Community and Gay Marriage.

RE: Warren's pathetic back-paddling on gays:

If Rick Warren was Pinochio,
he could poke a man's eye out 300 feet away.
