Top 10: Larry Was Tempted

Posted: 08:33 PM ET

LARRY'S REFLECTIONS ON THE BATHTUB SCENE WITH JIM CARREY FEATURED IN LETTERMAN'S TOP 10.   IT WAS NUMBER 1:1jimcarrey

The tub was slippery.  The scene was romantic...so romantic that I almost - almost, lost my heterosexuality.  And to tell you the truth, I think Jim felt the same way.  The lighting was perfect.  The Champagne wasn't bad either.  The bubbles were very...bubbly.  All it lacked was music.  Sinatra would have been nice.

The scene was somewhat hampered by having a crew standing around with cameras, and lights, and sound equipment.  Jim did wear a bathing suit.  I wore a shirt, suspenders, and a tie, which was a good stunt, but wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world.  Try swimming in a tie and suspenders when the suspenders aren't attached to anything.

We both were wondering if this was a career-maker.  Were any talent scouts watching? After we were dry and ready to leave, someone from the Letterman staff said "do you want to get back in the tub for some bump shots?"  The answer was a rousing "no thanks."  I just couldn't handle the temptation again.

Your suspenders weren't attached to anything? Really? I'm not sure I'd be bragging about that!

The whole bit was hilarious!

DEB   December 18th, 2008 4:53 pm ET

I will begin to filter this program.....this is just not what I want to view.
I am not homophpic....I am not against gay's or gay rights.......but this is a bunch of BS to arise public viewing to raise ratings......this is a bunch of B/S/ I didnt find it enlightling nor funny, and I like JIm Carry but this went over the top...........get a grip Larry.......

Cheryl   December 18th, 2008 6:14 pm ET

I have an idea, why doesnt every member of congress, the president , and any other officals that cant seem to help our american auto worker , therefore effecting thousands of other jobs collect only unemployment for awhile no paid health care either- then we will see how fast they would find a resolution to the american auto companies and probably many others

Jess   December 18th, 2008 6:37 pm ET

Jeez Deb.. lighten up. can't take a joke?

Phil (UC Berkeley)   December 18th, 2008 6:45 pm ET

Just goes to show, Jim Carrey and Larry King are both very secure and are down for anything. Personally, I'm of the opinion that the bubble bath format hasn't been used often enough in live interviews of late...I'd like to see more of it in the future; hopefully this can help bring it back.

Fernando   December 18th, 2008 6:54 pm ET

Great stuff. In the spirit of Mr. Carey's new movie, I think Mr. King should have said yes and gotten back in the tub.

Vince McLeod IV   December 18th, 2008 6:58 pm ET

You made 1 million people's New Year's Eve wishes come true!!

Andrea   December 18th, 2008 7:00 pm ET

It shows one thing. These are two secure, heterosexual men who aren't afraid to poke fun at themselves and have fun while doing it. Cheers to Jim and Larry!!!

P.S. Chill out Deb.

Jason   December 18th, 2008 7:05 pm ET

DEB = What is wrong with America

Mike   December 18th, 2008 7:44 pm ET

I agree about Deb. Her overuse of ellipses is horrible!

Oh yeah, and chill out. That too.

Jeff - Ohio   December 18th, 2008 8:17 pm ET

I saw the entire skit last night on Letterman. It was funny and well done.
Why cant anyone take a joke anymore? Mr Carey and Mr King were confortable doing it, so let it be.
People need to stop being so anal about everything. We live in a imperfect world, stop being so "offended" by everything (especially Deb).

david G   December 18th, 2008 8:20 pm ET

That was really cool Larry! My jaw dropped to the ground when I saw you in the Tub with Jim Carrey,LOL That was the last thing I expected to see. I will never underestimate you or Mr Carrey again.

Jim Carrey is a freaking weirdo. I can't stand him.

Jon   December 18th, 2008 8:27 pm ET

Thats what you get when you combine jim carrey and a live interview.

Jason D   December 18th, 2008 8:29 pm ET

Pretty funny... glad to see you still have a humorous side, Larry!

Loin   December 18th, 2008 8:35 pm ET

Come on Deb, get a grip!

Todd   December 18th, 2008 8:37 pm ET

DEB!
Stop with the negative waves.

Andrew   December 18th, 2008 8:43 pm ET

I was so surprised I really thought it was an impersonator at first.

Now I really know it wasn't !

(btw, get a grip... DEB!)

Calvin   December 18th, 2008 8:44 pm ET

Deb

Smile, it will be allright 🙂

Marcus Harun   December 18th, 2008 8:51 pm ET

Mr.King,
That was one of the funniest things ive ever seen! I cant belive you actually did it. You tow are some of my favorite people. I love Jim Carey for his hilarious comedy, and you are obviously a legend. I cant belive it was really you!

that was great!

Beth Montez   December 18th, 2008 9:11 pm ET

When you talked about the meter reader on tonights show I dont think you understand a meter readers job. They go by the same area over and over and over. And have you ever had a gut feeling about something and you decided that you had to take action to see if you could make sense out of this feeling? I think the meter reader did just that, he acted on his gut feeling and he is a hero in my book for bringing some closure to this case! Sometimes you have to rely on your instinct and I applaud him for this!

Darla Trickey   December 18th, 2008 9:23 pm ET

Too funny...man I love it, Jim Carey is too funny

Jessica   December 18th, 2008 9:31 pm ET

Sounds like Deb needs a bubble bath!

I thought it was great!

debi   December 18th, 2008 9:43 pm ET

Deb: all of the great and not so great comedians, from the turn of the last century in america to way back during ancient greece have dressed up as women for a laugh. two guys in a bathtube making a joke (it's funny because you can imagine jim carrey doing that but not larry king) without being naked or in a sexual act is not something to freak out about. it's funny. it's at least worth a small chuckle just to see larry king in the tub with his trademark suspenders!

bfjawad66   December 18th, 2008 9:49 pm ET

U-R-FUNNY

Jun   December 18th, 2008 10:10 pm ET

Larry, I don’t understand why you keep inviting people (Ari Fleischer, Dana Perino…) from a failed administration to voice their worthless opinions. These people have misled America and they collectively have failed the America people. Do you want them to continue misleading America? I simply don’t get it.

pamela Patterson   December 18th, 2008 10:11 pm ET

You made my evening! You and Jim were a hoot. it may not have been politically correct but then that's what made it great. Maybe a little more splashing would have made it better. Deb sure could use a long bubble bath.

Julia Bantz   December 18th, 2008 10:23 pm ET

Thank God for America and our freedom of everything. Wealth, health, fresh water and security. It really pissed me off when people are expressing to be upset with B. Obama for choosing Rick Warren to give the prayer at his inaguration. What is next that people will find to complain about. Why can't people just be happy with what we voted for and wanted to put into office, but then start criticizing his choices. Where is our respect anymore. Where is our love for one another.
Obama is just beint thoughtful and inclusive to reunite our country.
He is trying to be fair. What is wrong with people. Be thankful for what we have. Julia Bantz Oklahoma cnn channel 28 out of okc.

Farhibide   December 18th, 2008 10:44 pm ET

DEB – have you ever read Fahrenheit 451? The story takes place in a future in which all books (and, therefore, pretty much any kind of independent thought) have been banned because, basically, too many people were too easily offended. I fear that's where we're headed if we get many more people like you on this planet. If you don't like what you're seeing, change the channel.

Jun – do you even know who Jim Carey is? It's probably worth your while to do some research before making a comment. He's definitely not a politician, but he HAS played one on TV.

LARRY:

ALL WE HEAR IS THE AUTO INDUSTRY. WELL YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ORANGE COUNTY EMPLOYEES OF CALIFORNIA!!!

Our Union just e mailed us this information. This is a direct e mail quote:

It now appears that the layoff picture for County employees will grow increasingly more dire between now and July 2009. Given the unfolding circumstances with the State Budget, NO ONE IS SAFE, regardless of your position or your department—OR YOUR SENIORITY! The County continues to be a complete failure in its approach to this problem. We have seen this in SSA and in the Probation Department so far, and also in County HR and with the Board of Supervisors.

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS IS REMODELING ITS LOBBY (AT A COST OF $400,000) AND MANAGERS ARE SET TO RECEIVE A 5% INCREASE IN SALARY IN THE NEXT SIX MONTHS.

So what our union is saying is: Program managers and above will receive a 5% increase in salary and everyone under program managers COULD BE LOOKING AT BEING LAYED OFF!!! We are already "TOP" heavy.

I AM SO ANGRY OVER THIS. I HOPE YOU REPORT THIS ON CNN.

SOMEONE SHOULD TELL PRESIDENT ELECT OBAMA THAT RATHER THAN HAVE A MINISTER TRAVEL FROM CALIFORNIA TO WASHINGTON TO PRAY DURING HIS BIG PARTY THAT HE SHOULD LEARN TO PRAY FOR HIMSELF. OUR FOUNDING FATHERS GOT ON THEIR KNEES AND PRAYED FOR DIVINE GUIDANCE AND GOD HEARD THEM AND ANSWERED THEIR PRAYERS. HE STOPPED LISTENING TO PRAYERS SENT FROM WASHINGTON BECAUSE HE SAW GREED, DISHONESTY. AND IMMORALITY BECOME THE GODS OF POLITICIANS. THIS MESSAGE IS SENT FROM 88 YEAR OLD GRANT HANCOCK OF YUMA, ARIZONA. I APPROVE OF THIS MESSAGE.

Loved your Interview with Jim Carrey. It was so refreshing and full of great insights! Both of you are uniquely talented individuals.

Well done Larry! Saw the bit last night and it really made me laugh!
You are full of surprises, aren't you?

thgirbla   December 19th, 2008 12:59 am ET

Nice to see that SOMEONE still has a sense of humor!!!

MUIN   December 19th, 2008 12:59 am ET

Very funny and original.... These two guys are like legends to me since I grew up watching them making movies and making news. So it was weird to see them on a bathtub.. LOL

ed ,vancouver canada   December 19th, 2008 1:02 am ET

Jim carey should be the president. At least people could have a laugh at the mess that the government and their wealthy supporters made of the united states. The whole country except for upper management and CEOS should go on welfare.Welfare would have more time to watch jim carey on t.v. When income tax is 70% to pay for it all,the mess creators will leave the united states and the middle class people can get their jobs back.A better idea is to make the car companies non profit organizations.Contributions are 100% tax write off. They will be bailed out in no time.

Robin   December 19th, 2008 1:06 am ET

I agree with Phil (UC Berkeley), Farhibide, Jess and Jason. Chill out!
And that book Farenhiet 451 by Ray Bradbury was awesome, (altough I thought the ending could've been better written)

Vicci   December 19th, 2008 11:19 am ET

Ok, So theres no place to post this, I'll post it here. Last night on Larry King Live there was Joy Behar who I just adore interviewing Alec Baldwin.
Lisa Bloom spouts off putting Alec Baldwin down for what he said to his daughter...it must have been worse in private..She tore into Alec for saying that we have a culture that likes to expose and tear into celebrities private lives and pick them apart when they are human.
I would agree, and I dont want to be a part of that. I think that celebrities deserve a right to privacy and that they have not sold their 'soul' to just to be celebrities. We dont get to 'own' all their private moments by having them exposed on public media sources. I applaud Alec for having the kahunas to stand up and talk about his family issues. I think Lisa Bloom who didnt say a WORD about Kim Baysingers throwing out a private PHONE conversation between a father and daughter just to make Alec look bad did far worse damage to the Baldwins daughter than Alec writing a book about his marriage/divorce and custody issues. Lisa Bloom was very slanted and biased in her responses...and Frankly I found it disgusting.

Eric J.C. TN   December 19th, 2008 12:11 pm ET

That was too funny. Jim Carey is one of my favorite actors. Love his movies. The scene with Larry King just topped the cake of his incredible sense of humor LOL.

Lindy Smith MN   December 19th, 2008 6:47 pm ET

LMAO!! Jim you rock man! Larry, you are so awesome! I can not wait to see the movie! I have to tell you, my 8 year old son has autism and he loves The Mask!
I just bought Jenny's new book Mother Warriors, I can not wait to start reading it. It has been tough lately, my son is on a serious sleep pattern problem.
Love you, Lindy Smith

Deputy Rusiciano was the officer who cleared the call @ the scene on August 13th., and was made to willingly resign from the sheriff's department on August 26th., due to having sexual relations w/ Casey Anthony in an on going investigation. Its in the records @ ocso

Sandra Smith   December 19th, 2008 9:48 pm ET

This is very bad, I wonder how a mother could ride around town with her daughter in the tunk of her car to she started smelling, This woman has no heart at all it's almost unbelievable. Then just put her out like a piece of trash!

W. Dominguez   December 19th, 2008 9:53 pm ET

Hi Larry, I am not surprised at outcome Of Caylees remains found and id'd given the jailhouse response Casey gaver her Mom when Mom said, "When Caylee comes home you will be released and Casey did not respond something like, Well of course or anything positive at all as if she was thinking that it would only be the BEGINNING of her END!

EILEEN   December 19th, 2008 9:56 pm ET

Hi Larry,

I just want to express the sadness I feel for the grandparents of that precious angel. If in fact casey is responsible for that babies death, she needs to tell her parents the truth, so they can accept the fact that they have not only lost there grandaughter , but in fact there daughter as well, and let them accept and grieve, and let that angel rest in peace

hugh ~ california   December 19th, 2008 10:29 pm ET

ANGRY ORANGE COUNTY
EMPLOYEE OF CALIFORNIA,

Alright already! You may your point three times. At least you're in a union, get them to sue the county.
