Jon Gosselin sues Kate for primary custody

Posted: 08:00 PM ET

Jon Gosselin

(PEOPLE.com) - Get ready for another round of the Jon and Kate Gosselin fight. The exes, whose bitter divorce played out in public, are at it again. This time, it's about their eight children.

Jon has just filed papers asking a Pennsylvania judge for primary custody as well as a review of the child support order that is in place. Primary custody is currently Kate's, and Jon is required to pay $21,000 a month in child support.

Jon alleges that Kate "abuses" the terms of the custody agreement reached through arbitration, and has failed to document her child expenses, according to the court papers.

On Tuesday he threatened the suit, describing her as an "absentee parent" because of her stint on "Dancing with the Stars," which shoots in Los Angeles.

Kate retaliated soon after, saying she's "a single working mom [who] will do everything necessary to provide for my kids despite the opinions of others."

Gosselin named 'most provocative'

Posted: 01:51 AM ET

Jon Gosselin has been at the center of the public eye for a good part of the year.(CNN) - Out of all the headline-grabbing celebrities this year, HLN's "Showbiz Tonight" has chosen Jon Gosselin as the most provocative.

Gosselin was crowned the winner from a competitive pool that included former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, singer Chris Brown, disgraced beauty queen Carrie Prejean and Michael Jackson.

"Jon Gosselin was the tabloid train-wreck gift who just kept on giving!" said "Showbiz Tonight" senior executive producer David Levine. "It was almost like he was begging for attention. Divorce Kate? Check. Date the 22-year old daughter of your wife's plastic surgeon? Check. Consider doing another reality show with fellow train-wreck Michael Lohan? Check. It was almost like he was writing the script for the eventual TV movie about his life."

"Showbiz Tonight's" most provocative celebrity is chosen on the basis of who generated the most continuous shock and interest throughout 2009 and which celebrity's very name sparked a visceral reaction in the general public.

Jon Gosselin, who rose to fame as the embattled husband on the reality television show, "Jon & Kate Plus Eight," fulfilled all of those criteria and then some this year.

Jon Gosselin is emotionally abusive, girlfriend says

Posted: 08:59 AM ET

(People.com) - Jon Gosselin has more relationship drama on his hands.

Hailey Glassman said her reality star boyfriend is emotionally abusive - and she's sick of it.

"He'll call me and take his anger out on me," Glassman, 22, said in a two-part interview scheduled to air on "The Insider" beginning Thursday. "He has 'mantrums.' I shouldn't have to put up with being emotionally abused. I cry and say, 'Why are you so mean to me?' "

But she may not get a straight answer. "Sometimes he has trouble with the truth," she said, "and he will dance and dance around his lies. He's like Jekyll and Hyde. But I still love him."

Ever since she started dating Gosselin, Glassman said her life has changed - and not necessarily for the better.  "I met Jon in a bubble," she said. "I'd never seen the show. I had no idea."

Kate Gosselin: I've done tv, now on to movies

Posted: 08:04 AM ET

Answering what she described as "any and all reasonable questions" on the Monday episode of "Jon & Kate Plus 8," Kate Gosselin refuted allegations she and her now-estranged husband Jon staged their renewal of vows in Hawaii, she insisted her kids were OK on the show - and she left the door open for a second marriage.

Despite all the troubles being a reality-show star has brought her, Kate also said she wants to stay in the limelight even after her show goes off the air. "I've done enough years on TV that I feel like it's a normal, comfortable, natural place to be," she said. "I'd love to be in a movie at some point, I'd love to be the voice of a cartoon character in a movie for my kids. I think that would be fun."

As for being married again? "To be honest, I don't know," she said when asked by a viewer. "I really don't want to be married again, but I don't want to be alone. The alone-ness is really alone." For the most part, the questions steered clear of the family drama. Viewers were interested in Kate's shoe fetish, and whether she's still clipping coupons.
Kate, 34, did lash out at the media, saying the glare of the spotlight has made it hard to maintain friendships. But she was firm in her insistence that fame hasn't harmed her kids, a claim Jon, 32, made to try to end the show.

Kate Gosselin answers fan questions about how she's coping

Posted: 12:27 PM ET

via ETonline

art.kategosselin.cnnOn the night that Kate Gosselin appeared on a pre-taped TLC special answering fan questions, the mom of eight was in California participating with other authors in Night at the Village, a function connected with the Maria Shriver-hosted Women's Conference, where she revealed how she's coping now during her messy divorce.

"I wake up every day, get out of bed, do what I do because of my kids," she said on the panel. "There's many more lessons I've learned, many more things I've been through, more unexpected things, but I think at the end of it all, perseverance, determination and tenacity is definitely what will get me there."

Meanwhile, Shriver and Valerie Bertinelli commented on Kate's situation. "Love your children more than you hate your ex," Valerie said, giving her advice. "She seems to be following it. Her ex does not seem to be following it as much." "I think she's doing the best she can, which is all anyone can ask of ourselves," Maria added.

The event, in Long Beach, California, brought together 10,000 attendees in a 160,000 square foot "women's village," where there were book signings and stations touching on topics including cooking and food, health and wellness, live music and dancing, and even shopping. Proceeds from Night at the Village benefit The Women's Conference's WE programs. The main event of the conference takes place Tuesday.

Jon returns money to family bank account

Posted: 12:30 PM ET

By Nicole Weisensee Egan via People.com

art_jon_gosselin_giJon Gosselin is now in "complete compliance" with a court order that he return $180,000 he took from a joint bank account with his wife, says his attorney, Mark Heller – but, according to Heller, Kate Gosselin is not.

"Unless something happens today [with Kate] she will be going through contempt proceedings Monday," lawyer Mark Heller told PEOPLE on Friday.

Mark Momjian, Kate's divorce attorney, could not be reached for comment. Kate had been ordered to account for the approximately $55,000 she had withdrawn for household expenses.

Both sides filed contempt motions against each other for allegedly violating a divorce arbitrator's guidelines for how the money from a joint account should be spent.

On Oct. 13, a Montgomery County, Penn., judge ordered both sides to return any money that wasn't used appropriately. Jon was ordered to return $180,000, but Heller would not confirm whether that's how much he returned, saying instead, "I can tell you that we’ve done what we needed to do to extricate Jon from any issues concerning contempt."

Heller went on to say that attorney Charlie Meyer, who had removed himself from the proceedings in September, is once again representing Jon in the divorce. Heller was not licensed to represent Jon in the state of Pennsylvania, and a petition for him to be granted permission to do so was recently withdrawn by the attorney who had sponsored it.

Octomom: Jon Gosselin is "hot"!

Posted: 12:10 PM ET

via New York Daily News

The gossip apocalypse is upon us.

Octomom Nadya Suleman has the hots for stray-at-home dad Jon Gosselin.

"I kind of have a crush on Jon Gosselin," Suleman, 33, gushed to RadarOnline.com. "I think he's hot!"

Though she is smitten with the octodad, the single mother of 14 says his estranged wife, Kate, has nothing to worry about.

"I don't think any single mother of any amount of kids should start dating," Suleman said, adding that she will give in on her no-dating rule "when the kids are older."

Suleman, never shy about publicity, also voiced support for Kate in her very messy and public divorce.

"I feel for her. I wish everyone would leave her alone," she said, admitting she's never seen a full episode of their on-hiatus TLC show. "I'm sure she trusts herself and trusts that she's strong enough to handle it."

Suleman's sudden sympathy for the fellow octomom is a far cry from the harsh words she snipped about her in June.

"Don't you have, like, a lot of issues in your life?" she sneered to RadarOnline.com. "Why are you so desperate to glob on to my life? For attention?"

While Kate will return to reality TV solo with "Kate Plus 8," Suleman swatted away rumors that she will be getting her own show.

"I already made up my mind a long time ago," she said. "I think it's exploitative. I don't care what the dollar amount would be. It's not worth it. It's not healthy for the kids."

Kate Gosselin: My kids are struggling

Posted: 08:14 AM ET

As their parents continue to make tabloid headlines - Jon faces contempt charges for taking money out of a joint account, while Kate has just lost the reality show franchise that made her famous - the eight children of Jon and Kate Gosselin are starting to feel the effects of all the stress.

In a new article posted on VanityFair.com, Kate reveals her brood has been "acting out" lately - but she is hopeful it's a phase that will pass as the kids adjust to their life with divorced parents.

"I'm trying to give them the grace to see, if they're acting out of line, I'm trying to look deeper into why that is," she says in the article. "Why the kids are acting out. Cause it's all inter-related. I mean, they don't see it, but it's all interconnected."

Referring to Jon, she says, "They miss him. They say they miss him. I imagine they say the same thing when I'm away."

Not only are the kids hurting without both their parents together, Kate recently said that the demise of their hit show "Jon & Kate Plus 8" - which came after Jon objected to his children being filmed once TLC announced plans to relaunch the show as simply "Kate Plus 8" - has caused plenty of heartache at home.

Last week on the "Today" show, Kate said, "Over the weekend I told [the kids] that we're not filming at this point. And actually, times eight, there was wailing and sobbing. They love our crew, they love the interaction, they love the events. There is nothing harmful about it. They are angry."

TLC Sues Jon Gosselin for Breach of Contract

Posted: 01:00 PM ET

By Nicole Weisensee Egan via People.com

To the surprise of very few, TLC filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against Jon Gosselin on Friday morning, accusing the Jon and Kate Plus 8 star of violating his contract by making paid and unpaid TV appearances without the cable network's permission.

"The network has been trying privately and patiently for months to get Jon to honor the contract he signed and to comply with his obligations relating to public appearances and statements," reads a statement released by the network. "Those efforts have been unsuccessful."

Mark Heller, Jon's attorney, told PEOPLE Friday morning that he had yet to see the TLC legal documents. "I can't comment on something I haven't seen. Jon hasn't been served yet, either."

Jon & Kate Gosselin head to arbitration over money

Posted: 08:16 AM ET

Attorneys for Jon and Kate Gosselin will meet Tuesday with a court-appointed arbitrator to hammer out the economic issues in their contentious divorce.

Kate, who is seeking child and spousal support, has accused Jon of taking $230,000 from the family account.

Jon denies the withdrawals were inappropriate and wants Kate to account for more than $100,000 she withdrew.

"There are two sides to every story," Jon's attorney Mark Heller tells PEOPLE in a statement.

If the reality TV pair with eight kids resolves the financial dispute privately, they could avoid a hearing before a Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, judge. Kate's attorney, Mark Momjian, had requested the emergency hearing, seeking to force Jon to return the money.

The arbitration comes as heated relations between the Gosselins seem to have cooled slightly. Jon spent a quiet weekend at their Wernersville, Penn, home, carving pumpkins with the kids and hanging with his pal, Michael Lohan, father of Lindsay Lohan.
