As the BP oil spill disaster continues to grow, some faces from the world of entertainment are popping up to lend a hand. Perhaps even more surprising: at least some of the stars are being taken seriously. These are desperate times indeed.
A look at some of the luminaries who have been consulted on the disaster so far, and an assessment of whether or not they will really be able to do anything to help.
James Cameron: The director of “Avatar,” “Titanic” was called into a meeting of experts by the Environmental Protection Agency yesterday to try to come up with answers on how to clean up the spill.
Can He Help?: Cameron is a committed environmentalist, and has directed and produced a number of deep-sea documentaries, so he knows a thing or two about getting around beneath the waves.
Tune in TONIGHT at 9pmet to see JAMES CAMERON ON LKL – he'll discuss his ideas to clean up the Gulf of Mexico! What do you want to ask him? Leave us a comment!

So yeah, Lee DeWyze took the "American Idol" title last week. But really, the question on everyone's mind is: who is going to take over the title of most obnoxious judge?
Here are 10 suggestions:
1. I think Madonna may have the perfect combo of performer cred and hardcore honesty to get the job done. Her fake British accent wouldn't hurt either.
2. Neil Patrick Harris has proven himself to be a kick-butt actor, singer, and live TV host. Done and done.
3. Nick Lachey has survived boy band cult status, marriage to Jessica Simpson, and a reality TV show.
Don't forget to tune in TONIGHT at 9pmet – we're kicking off our LKL 25th ANNIVERSARY week with Lee, Crystal and the 8 finalists!!

The 24-year-old from Illinois stole the show by taking the recording contract prize in Idols finale that aired live on Tuesday, with millions of US people casting their votes in what was judge Simon Cowell’s last ever show.
But it turned out that that it was a closely call, when host Ryan Seacrest revealed that the pair entered the final show with just two per cent of votes dividing them.
Meanwhile, a lighthearted film package recounting highlights from the Cowell years was shown, and comedian Dane Cook came on stage to sing Simon Says, made up of the Brit’s barbed comments, and to crack a few jokes.
“You have the honesty of Abe Lincoln and the charm of the guy who shot him,” Cook told Cowell, who took the ribbing with a smile.

Tuesday's showdown between Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze for all the American Idol marbles was, as usual, part retread and part final audition for 19 Entertainment glory.
Each finalist had three chances to charm the judges and impress America into picking up the phone for them, the first round a chance to resing their favorite song from weeks past and the second round devoted to songs picked by Idol creator Simon Fuller.
Finally, the third round was for trotting out the tune that will be the winner's first single. And guess what?! It wasn't some corny "My Destiny" nonsense this year. Lee had to tackle U2 and Crystal was saddled with a song already recorded by both Kelly Clarkson and Susan Boyle.
So, for all intents and purposes, who already won?

Going in to Monday's Dancing With The Stars finals, ESPN's Erin Andrews was the long shot to win. Now she's tied for first place with Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger. Olympian Evan Lysacek is lagging behind.
All three celebs performed two dances, one of which was the freestyle – the time to pull out all the stops. Erin started with a samba and then chose a sultry barefoot dance involving a bed for her freestyle. While the judges weren't crazy about it, she wound up with a 55 for the night.
Nicole danced a rumba but it included a lift which nicked her score a bit. Her zippy freestyle wowed the judges enough to get her a 55 for the night.
Evan waltzed through his first dance, but was off a little bit on his high-energy freestyle. He's got a 52 going into Tuesday's finale, which will include Kate Gosselin, Jake Pavelka dancing with fiancee Vienna Girardi and Pamela Anderson. The three celebs will dance an Argetine Tango and someone will go home with a lovely mirror ball trophy.
Who do you think will win? Let's start the conversation going!

Jesse James breaks down in tears as he finally speaks publicly about the demise of his marriage to Sandra Bullock.
"I took a pretty amazing life and marriage ... and threw it away," James says in a promo clip of his interview with ABC News' "Nightline," scheduled to air Tuesday night.
James, 41, admits to cheating on Bullock and says his actions - including allegations of affairs with multiple women - have made him "The most hated man in the world." At one point, he's so overcome by emotion, he walks away from the interview.
Since the couple's split, James has spent time in a rehab program and has otherwise maintained a normal schedule at his Los Angeles-area home, where he's often been seen driving his kids to school.
But James is looking to make a change. A source tells PEOPLE that James has put the house he shared with Bullock up for sale. The motorcycle mogul is eyeing Austin, Texas, as a place to spend more time, according to another source. Bullock has long called Austin a second home.

Nearly a year after their journey began, Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox took one giant step closer to the promised land Wednesday night (May 19). The two singers, whose paths to next week's season-nine "American Idol" finale at times felt preordained, survived Tuesday night's 47 million votes as the sand ran out for Cool, Texas' Casey James.
The good ol' boy with the Guess model looks and the bluesy bar-band style was pegged early on as eye candy by judge Kara DioGuardi — who made him take his shirt off at his audition — even as the panel frequently praised his earthy sound and guitar skills. The focus on his sex appeal to the cougar set sometimes became annoying, but James never let it distract him from attempting to deliver solid, heartfelt performances week after week while trying to not seem annoyed by the constant jibes about his looks.

American Idol‘s three finalists performed two songs, one of their own choosing and the other cherry-picked by the judges on Tuesday, and in between their numbers were shown visiting their hometowns.
Crystal Bowersox chose Melissa Etheridge’s “Come to My Window.”
On Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man,” Lee Dewyze sounded like David Cook without the rock-troubador pretension:
