Why don't Hollywood stars ever want to do anything TO HELP PEOPLE IN OUR COUNTRY? Not Glamorous enough of a cause??? Charity begins at home!

sickofAJandObama   August 31st, 2010 10:08 pm ET

This just goes to show that Angelina Jolie is not an American. She endorses anti-american causes and supports Pakistanis who give shelter to Osama Bin Laden. Barack Hussein Obama must LOVE HER !!!

Michael PJ Knight   August 31st, 2010 10:08 pm ET

I fell the same way. Anything I can do to possibly help

Ur name   August 31st, 2010 10:10 pm ET

^^ I dont even understand why that question gets asked so often. Angelina seems to help all over. Ive read that She has programs that help native American indians but I'm guessing that's not who you want her to help?

manchesterrgirl   August 31st, 2010 10:10 pm ET

Angelina Jolie> such a beautiful person inside & out. I congratulate her for always supporting a worthy causes. A need is a need,no matter where.

buster   August 31st, 2010 10:10 pm ET

julia   August 31st, 2010 10:10 pm ET

i help with all my heart this people, god bless all

Jane Fenton   August 31st, 2010 10:12 pm ET

I do respect Angelina's concern about the relief in Pakistan. Now I must comment on the United States that is in much need of relief. The State of Louisiana is in much need of relief since Katrina and the Gulf Oil Spill. So many other States are hurting and people are doing without because they do not have the monies to feed and cloth thier children for back to school. I think now is the time to focus on the United State for a while until we can see some relief. I know it is iimportant to help ,but please let' s start at home for once. I am very tired of always hearing another story about another country in need when the United States is now in need of help. So many people do not reliaze that we must do something for ourselves NOW.

K and   August 31st, 2010 10:12 pm ET

Pakistan if WE CAN WE WILL HELP. Ms.Jolie we have watched her grow up in the public light and if she want to use her money and she does that is her concern. Angie we are weather you want to be or not WE ARE PROUD OF YOU AND BRAD>

Husrev   August 31st, 2010 10:35 pm ET

Today I saw Islamophobia, in your comments.

Human is human, regardless of religion ad region. In here, Turkey, humanitarian aid groups help people who encounter natural disasters or starvation regardless of their religions. No matter are they Muslim, or Christian or Atheist or etc. They are human. This is the keyword : human.

InTheCity   August 31st, 2010 10:45 pm ET

People write so proud-like, and generally never know details. She HAS helped in America. But American is to help not only us, but be able to help the world as well.

Husrev   August 31st, 2010 10:46 pm ET

What I mentioned was not -of course- comments about "American States that encounter same problems". We of course understand your priority. What I criticize were comments like "They are terrorists. They give shelter to Osama".

Gerald Jolly   August 31st, 2010 11:06 pm ET

Just a question???

What is the Pakistan government doing with the $10 billion dollars we "GIVE" them every year??

The world save the children fund claims "NO HELP" from the Pakistani government.

The question I have is.

"SHOW ME THE MONEY"

hazarabdullah   September 1st, 2010 1:29 am ET

If everyone helps to their home who will help to Pakistan?

ds   September 1st, 2010 1:57 am ET

Help them to produce more atom bombs
Help their kids to grow up and become sucide bombers
Help them to maintain one of the largest armies
Help them to kill and bomb minorities

Its time for them to pay the price of intolerance and hatred

alex jacques   September 1st, 2010 10:05 am ET

Hello Larry king. I've been wanting to speak to you for many years.
I am not good with a computer so I'll try this way to talk to you.
I must say that there are great media announcers on CNN. Very intellegent speakers. It must be difficult for these people to know and invetigate so much and tell it as it is, How do they keep their sanity intact.?. I know I have to shut the dam thing off every now and then as I feel myself drifting int insanity. I would like to send stuff I have written on my opinion of world events and how it is going as well as where it's going. I am not sure how to do this but keep trying. I am 80 yrs old
W ill soon leave this planet although my interest level is still high
andI,m not in a hurry to go.. Please let me know how to do this,,Alex
Also known as Axle,,full name Alexander Alfred Jacques. Cornwall Ontario Canada.. Thank you

IKHAN   September 1st, 2010 12:52 pm ET

Hi Larry,
Angelina Jollie is doing what a true American & humanist would do.
The situation is terrible in Pakistan & people are suffering. The worse is still to come. They need help.
@ds
what a crass & heartless thing to say. Hate should have some bounds. Pakistani civilians & their soldiers are dying fighting our war, they are suffering for deciding to join us in our fight against terrorism. Intolerance & hatred is indeed what we see growing here on our soil now in abundance.

jack ray   September 1st, 2010 1:46 pm ET

They have my computer and phone shut down but I want to tell you there is a man from london ohio going to chatanoga tennese, it is a bike ride for trail of tears. This man is looking for his people. The woman he is looking for was named america. This takes place on the 17th and 18th of this month.

alex jacques   September 1st, 2010 1:58 pm ET

Interesting to see my letter posted. Looking forward to the moderated version. Perhaps my ideas are too far out but I do believe in freedom of speech. John KIng comes through to me as very intellegent, observant and straight forward. Sometimes I see a true compassion in him,, for humanity. He has an ability to question people in such a way that they tend to show their true selves. As for your elected leader Pres. Obama,,he comes through to me as very honest and straight forward as well as interesting. I am sure he is aware of the high level responsibility he has undertaken in his relatively new job.
Since my retirement I have spent more time writing. I taught Electronics in College some years ago. I was not a good speaker but was told by a superintendant at the college to work at getting my thoughts on paper and that's what I have plenty of time to do now. Thanks for you interest and I appreciate CNN,,,,Alex

debbie   September 1st, 2010 2:13 pm ET

isn't it the UN's job to help???? Why must it be up to only the United States to help – especially when we have so many disasters of our own to contend with. I find it disgraceful to speak out and adopt children only from other countries and not one's own. After 9/11, the Pakistan people were shown to be dancing in the streets with joy. Most Pakistanians hate Americans and would put a knife in our backs if they were given the chance.

Joe G. (Illinois)   September 1st, 2010 2:17 pm ET

If even only one person were to emerge out of it all.
Recognize Jesus Christ as his or her own Divine Creator, Lord and Savior, than that would be a sign and proof of great victory on all accounts. Meaning for both Heaven and earth.

Joe Dirt   September 1st, 2010 3:48 pm ET

Hot and smart!!!!
We have to give her mad props for going in a danger zone and helping pakistanis people who really do need help. Ppl fail to realize that every American is born with a silver spoon , reason why I say this is bc we as Americans have opportunities to live the American dreams many counties in the world do not allow civilians to prosper , to become rich or live an honest living. We are very lucky to live in a great country like the United States and we as humans should help one another as much as possible. If we want to help Americans who are suffering we can donate or work for that cause. Also, helping the people of Pakistan is a good cause and should not be called anything else otherwise. Support Pakistan !!!!

Linda Corrao   September 1st, 2010 4:16 pm ET

When will our Government stop foreigners from entering the United States? They can spend money on everything except to help our Country. We help every Country in the World before we take care of our own.
Everyday more and more crimes are being committed by foreigners.

As far as religion goes, we welcome people into our Country but we shouldn't have to accept religion from their country. If you want to come to America, then you speak the American language, and you accept our religions, we have many to choose from.
If you can't accept our language and our religions, then stay in your own country.

As for our Black Race in our Country, I have many many friends and black relatives through marriage and I wouldn't trade them for all the money in the World, but as for these "Black American Pageants", etc.,
when does the crying stop, asking for help and pitty and start standing on their own ground.

Their ancestors may of had problems fifty years ago but I don't see anybody being treated like they did back then and still fifty years later, they still claim "discrimination" but a black person would be hired before a white person because the company doesn't want to be sued.
I know that from experience.

I am affraid that some day soon we will be heading for a situation like "Custards Last Stand" to see who survives and I don't see that helping any religion or race so ---- Everyone needs to start standing on their own two feet, stop feeling sorry for themselves and Love Our Country for Who We Are and not for What They Want To Turn It into!!!!

Thank You,
Linda

If we keep letting foreigners and all of their religions into the United States then we shouldn't be called "The United States" we should be called World State" or something close to that.

liz   September 1st, 2010 4:24 pm ET

Our government has sent them plenty of aid. Before we send any more $$ to Pakistan or Haiti, etc., let's completely clean up the wreakage still apparent from Katrina and all aid to those citizens who still need it for homes and businesses. America is here to help everyone? Fine, but let's start with our country and finish all of our problems before we sent billions and billions overseas. Who does that? What kind of economics is that? We all pay our household bills and take care of our family b/4 we use our money for other things.
Why doesn't our government do the same? Especially, since it's our tax dollars they spread around. I truly do not understand this.
Don't we already borrow money from China? Please tell me we don't borrow money and then send aid to others.

Gerald Jolly   September 3rd, 2010 6:51 pm ET

While Pakistan is still reeling from a devastating flood.

The Islamic Extremist can still find the time to slaughter their own kinds.

Sain or not Sain

Think about it and.

YOU DECIDE.

How about Angelina ask for help for some 25 million people that are currently unemployed in America?

sam   September 3rd, 2010 9:30 pm ET

I believe this constant discussion about re-distributing wealth is hurting charitable hearts and charitable organizations. Majority of Americans are not rich as she is. Maybe she should focus her attention to get the rich people around the world to help the unemployed people in America and people that are underprivileged around the world. Gosh, I don't mean to sound cruel but who is going to help the Americans in need of help. Does anybody think the world will come to the aid of America once we go bankrupt and we no longer have a middle class? There will be the very wealthy like Angeline and the rest. Yes, we were a wealthy nation at one time. Reality...not anymore!...We are now borrowing to pay nations bills right? Who is ever going to forgive our debt to other countries if we can't pay. Now I feel bad. Ofcourse these people in Pakistan need help. It's heartbraking to see. I hope those that can help will help..

sam   September 3rd, 2010 9:52 pm ET

How about having an announcement in Arab Nations to have them support America and it's way of life that helped us to be the most generous country in the World, yet we get attacked verbally and physically by the Islamic Radicals. How about this announcement to encourage radicals to leave America alone so that the war ends. I don't think I have ever seen a message from Islamic groups to the radical Islams that asks them to stop their hatred toward America. Yes, they say they don't recognize them but how about a direct message to Islamic Radicals that they are wrong about America..Maybe such messages exist but I've never seen one..

Jessie from Auckland, NZ   September 4th, 2010 12:11 am ET

She is an Ambassador and is highlighting their plight. She is speaking out for them and appealing to anyone who can help and wishes to help. Angelina Jolie shows she cares and is a caring person. I am sure that this is one of the things that attracted Brad Pitt to her in the first place. God bless her for this and for all she does and is doing.

Charity does begin at home but we must try not forget to lend a helping hand when and whereever it is needed.

Also remember to love one's enemies, and this is biblical.

Gina   September 4th, 2010 9:23 am ET

I watched the topic at Naver in Korea, too.
Many people have interests about that but some people look strange her. they think Angelina has interest only her image, maybe.

IKHAN   September 5th, 2010 7:21 pm ET

Hi Larry,
so things have come to this that I see bloggers asking people like Angelina Jollie to beg for us Americans instead of for those suffering in the poor countries.
What happened to our being the richest nation on earth, the teacher, the mentor, the policeman, leaders of the free world.

Have wars and our policies brought us to the brink. But no I think we can still find cash somewhere to write a check for 6 billion dollars plus to Israel every year and 1 Billion dollars to Egypt.
@ Linda Carrao
please let us know what is the American religion? Because we have Catholics (Roaman & Eastern),Baptists,Anglicans, Methodists and many among Christian denominations besides modern movements like Fundamentalist Christianity,Pietism,Evangelicans,Pentacostals & the Holiness movement etc.
Then we have, Buddhists, Hindus,Jews, Muslims, Sikhs & then millions of agnostics, atheists & others.
If we know what the American religion is then perhaps we can ask all others to leave & prohibit entry of any but those who accept the American religion and then change our Constitution and name USA- The United Religious States of America. That would be somethin' hunh!

@ Sam
perhaps most Americans are unaware that Arab nations have always been supporting America with their investments here & arms & other contracts with us running into billions of dollars annually.
Perhaps we do not have a clue to the Arab state of Qatar writing a check for 100 million dollar for victims of Katrina when their leader visited Louisiana a few months back & pledging 100s of millions of dollars for rebuilding.

IKHAN   September 6th, 2010 1:02 pm ET

Hi Larry,.
Good morning folks.Enjoy your Labor day holiday.

@debbie

while you may have seen footage of some folks dancing on the streets 7000 miles away, you were perhaps asleep when Israelis were seen dancing right here on a roof top in NYC, filming the horror of 9/11 as Twin Towers burned, as if they had foreknowledge. Or when FBI rounded up 60 Israelis right after the attack on suspicion of involvement. The whole thing was swept under the carpet for reasons unknown to the American public. Or when Mr. Benjamin Natanyahu declared in April of 2008 that " 9/11 has been very good for Israel"
that 'we are benefiting from attacks on Twin Towers, pentagon & America struggling in Iraq".

We are trying to fight those handful of terrorists in Iraq & Afghanistan belonging to AlQaeda and Talibans. We are not at war with the almost 57 Muslim countries around the world. Majority of these countries around the world are assisting US in combating terrorism and their people are dying in the process.
If it weren't for help from Arab countries & Turkey we couldn't have managed to go into Iraq at all.
We do not help our brave troops who are there putting their lives on line or our efforts to fight terrorists, when we join in propaganda against Islam or the entire Muslim population.
