Why should private funds be used for any spill victims?

BP should be paying "every dime" of damages to the environment, the spill victims along the Gulf Coast, and the widows and families of the Deepwater Horizon explosion. Whatever it costs! They only make $30 billion in profits a year as a public company.

How is it that all the people from the Hollywood that one would otherwise think least of, be the same to soak up all the photo opportunities to show case their skills.

Obama going to the Gulf, looking out at sea, playing with the sand, and saying to reporters that he is furious.. Ain’t that enough?

If we got to have Hollywoodian’s.. We got to have the Hollywoodian’s. But I find the all thing very distasteful and out of line.

called BP with my idea: Cut leaking pipe above sand below the BOP. USE LONG LARGER PIPE WITH OUTSIDE EDGES LIKE A DRILL BIT FOR DIGGING INTO SAND, SPIN OR DRILL THE PIPE OVER EXISTING SMALLER LEAKING PIPE INTO FLOOR OF SAND. AT TOP OF PIPE HAVE ONE OR MORE , SHUT OFF VALVES CONNECTED, LEAVE VALVE OPEN, TO RELEIVE PRESSURE,SPIN OR DRILL DOWN ENOUGH SO LARGER PIPE COVERING LEAKING SMALLER PIPE WOULD GO DOWN 50 TO 200 FEET BELOW THE SURFACE, AND OIL WOULD COME THREW VALVE AT TOP. CONNECT TO SHIP. COULD ALSO HAVE A VAVLE THAT WOULD THREAD ITSELF SO AS YOU DIG DOWN WHEN THE FIRST VALE REACHES THE CUT ORIGINAL PIPE IT WOULD THEN THREAD ITSELF INTO THE CUT PIPE, AS THERE WOULD NO LONGER BE ANY PRESSURE AT THAT POINT OR AREA OF THE PIPE. CHOICES WOULD BE SHUTTING OFF THE VALVES A LITTLE AT A TIME, AS YOU GO UP THE PIPE, SHUTTING THE FIRST ONE JUST ALITTLE AND THE NEXT A LITTLE MORE AND SO FORTH USING 5-10 VALVES OR JUST PUMPING IT INTO THE SHIP

This is what I think – all these rich movie stars are the ones who need to contribute! Not us who make white and blue collar wages. Let the rich folks shell out the bucks. Most of them have more than they could spend in 10 lifetimes, anyway. Just leave us workers alone and stop trying to get our money. We have to work hard for it.

Just a thought – the $30 billion as a PUBLIC company comes from....uh....the public, right?

Larry, I would like to ask a question that has been haunting me and no one is talking about. We are on the brink of hurricane season. Hurricanes pick up speed and intensity at higher water temperatures, which are up right now. Hurricanes pick up water out of the ocean and drop it as they travel across the country. I live in Illinois, and Hurricane Ike flooded my basement all the way up here to the middle of the USA. What will happen when a hurricane hits the Gulf with all of the oil? Should not the government have an emergency plan in place for "oil rain"? How safe is this oil if someone is caught in the rain? How are people supposed to get the oil rain off of their homes, car, pets, grass, trees, bushes, crops, gardens, etc.? Should not people be told to stay indoors should a storm pick up water in the Gulf and travel across land? How are we to protect our waterways inland from oil rain? Why has no one thought about this and addressed it yet?
