Talk about an odd couple: conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh and outspoken gay civil-union advocate Elton John.

But, according to a News Corporation (which owns Fox News) wire report, the Rocket Man, 63, serenaded the 400 guests into the wee hours Saturday night to celebrate the marriage of Limbaugh, 59, to Kathryn Rogers, 33, in the Ponce de Leon ballroom of Florida's fabled Breakers hotel in Palm Beach. Sir Elton's fee: $1 million, the report notes.

Amid dozens of giant bouquets of white roses (and very tight security), reports the Palm Beach Post, guests at the wedding included former Bush adviser Karl Rove; actor-politician Fred Thompson; former Kansas City Royals slugger George Brett; Fox News commentator Sean Hannity; former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani; New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft; former Clinton adviser James Carville and his wife, GOP analyst Mary Matalin; and golfer Tom Watson. A wedding guest also tells PEOPLE that among the others was Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

Has the "drugster" ever spoken out for or against gay rights and/or marriage?

DD   June 7th, 2010 3:49 pm ET

He is for same sex marriage but he doesn't have a beef with gays in general.

Jeff   June 7th, 2010 4:08 pm ET

Elton John sold his soul to the devil!

vickie   June 7th, 2010 4:14 pm ET

Burning my Elton John CD's as I type. How disappointing.

D F Kennedy   June 7th, 2010 4:20 pm ET

Good for Rush-America needs more people like him; straightforward, direct and honest. People need to forget Rushs errors with painkillers.
Hey, look at Helen Thomas, Dan Rather and the slew of left-wingers bringing our country down. Elton may be gay-but his music is great an d apparently it didnt bother him about Rush's views.

MommyPatriot   June 7th, 2010 4:25 pm ET

It's America People!!! Don't any of you have friends, acquaintances, business partners, etc...that you differ from ideologically?

Maineman   June 7th, 2010 4:26 pm ET

Rush is a great man !!!! He deserves a good woman and great music; who says money cant buy happiness? Maybe you liberals ought to bust your butt like him and start earning your keep, then you can hire Elton John. I see Carville was on the list-isnt he liberal?
Lets celebrate Rush's good fortune and wish him a long, happy marraige !!! Maybe a few baby Rush's will come next !!

denise   June 7th, 2010 4:34 pm ET

"guests at the wedding included...former Clinton adviser James Carville and his wife, GOP analyst Mary Matalin"

Given that the rest of the folks on the guest list are Republicans, shouldn't that have read "GOP analyst Mary Matalin and her husband, former Clinton adviser James Carville" since I'm guessing Matalin was the primary invitee, not Carville?

KD   June 7th, 2010 4:42 pm ET

Good for you Rush !!! Wish it were me-you hunk !!!

KT   June 7th, 2010 4:48 pm ET

You can have different political views and still be friendly with people that don't think the way you think...plus, sounds like Elton John made a few dollars too. What is the problem? Ya never know, EJ could have been spying on the conservatives...I'm just sayin"

Rush fan   June 7th, 2010 4:51 pm ET

maybe someone saved his life last night and made him a conservative?

JamesB   June 7th, 2010 4:59 pm ET

@KT,
Or maybe EJ is a closet conservative; just saying'🙂

CoCo   June 7th, 2010 5:01 pm ET

LOL!

MARY O'CONNOR   June 7th, 2010 5:03 pm ET

I WISH TO CONGRATULATE KATIE AND RUSH. BEST WISHE

BEST WISHES TO BOTH OF THEM.

Phaedra Glidden   June 7th, 2010 5:05 pm ET

Congratulations, Rush! I just told my husband that I had been considering leaving him for you, but that you've gone and married someone else, so our marriage is saved! Wish I could have been there. Hope you have a happy life ; )

jakass   June 7th, 2010 5:10 pm ET

"Rush is a great man"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Maybe you liberals ought to bust your butt like him"

You mean shouting down anyone who you don't agree with is busting your butt?

Sniffit   June 7th, 2010 5:10 pm ET

More proof of the hypocrasy and biggotry of the right

Dustin   June 7th, 2010 5:25 pm ET

Well better than giving the million to some right winged musician who will use the money to further the GOP agenda. Hopefully Sir Elton John will use it against the things that Rush stands for. That would be so poetic!

tony   June 7th, 2010 5:37 pm ET

a Gig is a gig money is a good reason to perform pay as you get it well he is not an ally of the drugster but he has cash plenty of it so is a gig thats all

Dave   June 7th, 2010 6:25 pm ET

Congrats to Rush on his 4th wife. He must really, seriously value the sanctity of marriage to have had so many of them.

And as far as that goes, isn't it wiser (financially, you know) to be his last wife, and not his first? Just sayin'...

mathgenius   June 7th, 2010 6:29 pm ET

If Rush offered me $1 million dollars to perform at his wedding (assuming I was talented), heck yes I'd take it. I think just about anyone would. This just goes to show how music can bring people with differing views together. Although Rush has bad taste in a lot of things, we now know he has good taste in music.

Smith in Oregon   June 7th, 2010 6:33 pm ET

I guess Elton John has his price. Rush is notorious for his bigoted comments regarding his hatred of gays and lesbians. Rush's repeated flaming comments strongly condemning gay marriages in California are simply the more recent volleys of many from that pin-head.

The Rise of the Fourth Right was not surprisingly present at Rush's newest wedding, Karl (sieg heil) Rove, Rudy Gulliani, Fred Thompson to name a few henchmen in audience.

Dick Cheney must have had a prior appointment with his corporate attorneys concerning possible RICO CHARGES AGAINST HIM AS former Vice President of the United States and his Secret 100 days behind closed doors with Big Oil executives.

PL   June 7th, 2010 6:39 pm ET

WHO CARES

Cajazz76:24:8   June 7th, 2010 6:55 pm ET

Congratulating Rush Limpweenie is akin to thanking Hitler...or giving George W. Bush a medal for his valor during the Viet Nam War...

John D.   June 7th, 2010 9:20 pm ET

PL,
Good point. Why should anyone care. Funny, I haven't seen one comment from a conservative who has a problem with a liberal singing at Rush's wedding. It seems the left is filled with hate. Elton John, you are a man of class. You could teach John Lennon's little protege McCartney a thing or two.

Idzan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia   June 8th, 2010 12:29 am ET

May the wife tame Limbaugh.
Make him a little bit kinder.

Hugh in California   June 8th, 2010 10:30 am ET

@Maineman,
You have the audacity to imply, " Maybe you liberals ought to bust your butt like [Rush Limbaugh] and start earning your keep, then maybe you can hire Elton John." That's typical right-wing rhetoric, labeling every liberal like they don't work hard enough. Wow, that's original, and you wanted us to think you thought that up all by yourself!

When do you plan to hire Elton John to come and sing for you? I guess you're not busting your neo-con butt quite enough to shell out one million dollars. Let us all know when you've finally worked hard enough to have "EJ" come and perform for you in private.

"Maineman," the only thing that Rush Limbaugh busts earning his keep is his butt sitting on a chair as his tongue and mouth spews out bigoted hatred through a radio microphone to captivate all his bigoted fans who need their daily fix. What a great way to spend the day, listening to Rush while his fans bust their butts with their nose to the grindstone!

You began by exclaiming, "Rush is a great man!" That's not a suprising comment, countless millions said the same thing about Adolph Hitler when he opened his big mouth. You ended in kind with, "Maybe a few baby Rush's will come next !" A few baby Rush's or a few baby Adolph's would end up being quite similar; either one of those would be one too many. With Rush Limbaugh, America already has one, our nation does not need another.

FLEXX   June 8th, 2010 10:36 am ET

RUSH IS A MORON.......don't have a heart attack on ur honeymoon.....LOL

LL   June 8th, 2010 11:53 am ET

Rush's name will outlast 99 percent of the people we think are important today. The negative comments here are out of jealosy and hatred. Neither of those feelings will get you far. You people might want to try Celebrex. Ask your doctor.

Green   June 8th, 2010 12:53 pm ET

Congratulations Rush!
And to you idiot haters...being against gay marriage does not mean that you hate gays. The Bible created marriage for man and woman ONLY. That is God's word, not made up by Christians or conservatives. Go try to argue the point IF you get to meet God someday..... Now I do hope that now in his 4th attempt that Rush also takes hold of God's word "till death do you part"....

Hugh in California   June 8th, 2010 1:38 pm ET

@LL,
Limbaugh negative comments are out of jealousy and hatred? YOU must already be on Celebrex! Rush Limbaugh doesn't live a single day of his life without verbal displays of hatred. I'm in utter disbelief that you would attempt to label people who express dislike for Rush Limbaugh as folks that are just doing it out of jealousy and hatred. Hypocrisy holds no bounds!

You'd better use that melon in your head you call a brain; anyone alive except extreme right-wing neo-cons don't believe that insane explanation. Perhaps YOU should schedule a doctor's appointment. Good grief!

Elton John
Elton John
Puppet on a string
He'll do anything
Because a million dollars
Helps to ease the sting

Rush Limbaugh
Rush Limbaugh
Open your big mouth wide
The rest of us just sighed
Money is your god
So flash your fat backside

Kathryn Rogers

What a way to be a wife
His money for your life
Hope the drugs are good
And pray for a short life.

james   June 8th, 2010 4:22 pm ET

@Hugh in California,
Again, a lot of left-wingers seem to criticize Elton John for performing at Rush's wedding and, of course, criticize Rush. I haven't seen one person from the right criticize Rush for having such a flaming liberal perform. The left certainly projects themselves as the ones who are prejudice in every sense of the word. Funny how none of you notice that trend here.

S.A.   June 8th, 2010 4:39 pm ET

Elton John should change his name to Uncle Tom. If Elton gives a million dollars to AIDS research now, I'd rather it come from the sale of some of his diamond encrusted junk than this blood money fee.

leonard   June 8th, 2010 5:10 pm ET

LL

Your reference to Celebrex in your laim attempt to correlate it to your ridicule is a good example you are very illegitimate in nature.

Hugh in California

I thoroughly enjoy reading your opinions. They are very pleasing to the eye and head.

Hugh in California   June 9th, 2010 1:09 pm ET

@James,
You implied, "The left certainly projects themselves as the ones who are prejudice in every sense of the word." Before that you defended the right by saying, " I haven't seen one person from the right criticize Rush for having such a flaming liberal perform." Perhaps because the neo-cons on the right are in such shock that Rush would hire that "flaming" Elton John, they don't want to defend him. Funny how YOU haven't noticed THAT here!

@leonard,
Thanks, you are most welcome.

IKHAN   June 9th, 2010 3:27 pm ET

@Cajazz

well said.
For a million dollars Elton would have gladly performed for Hitler & Eva.

Jahn Hutchens   June 13th, 2010 11:20 am ET

Elton John is a performer. Maybe, he is going to take the money from the Limbaugh wedding and put it towards a charity that Rush dislikes. Never under estimate the power of a creative thinker. We only know what the news media allows us to see. I could care less what Elton John does, I LOVE his music!

Jeff H   June 15th, 2010 1:18 pm ET

How Hypocritical of the left, who proclaim themselves as "Tolerant," this shows which party is truly tolerant.
Wake up and look in the mirror and see your hypocrisy.
You are the true bigots.

Kelly   June 21st, 2010 10:24 am ET

I have friends that are gay and they are very intelligent people but for some reason they tend to loose all sense of any intelligent or rational thoughts when their emotions take over. I accept this because this is how they feel and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Freedom of speech is granted to us by the US Constitution. This is one of our rights as "American Citizens." Sometimes the truth is hard to accept when it's voiced for all to hear. If you don't like what Rush has to say, you can simply change the channel and listen to opinions that are more in line your views.

Why are you so angry? If you want to be angry at someone target the person who is covering up the truth. There are plenty of people out there who are looking you straight in the face and lying to you. These are the people you should be angry with. JMO
