Politics is King: Please make the oil spill go away!

Posted: 04:10 PM ET

Every news channel has been covering the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, with a live stream from the bottom of the Gulf showing the oil seeping out of the broken pipes.

The blame game in Washington has started, with President Obama holding a press conference on Thursday to address his administration's handling of the crisis. Meanwhile, Secretaries Hillary Clinton and Timothy Geithner headed overseas to discuss the ongoing situation on the Korean peninsula.

With all of this going on, you may have missed some of these stories worth checking out:

1. As mentioned above, Secretary of State Clinton was in Asia.  During her travels, she granted an interview with China's Central Television, and dished about the 'most important' thing going on in her life.  Check out what that is HERE (Politico)

2. Looks like the Salahis crashed another place... this time in NYC.  At least they got a good laugh out of it (NY Daily News)

3. 'Bunny Suits now a no-no for child sex molesters' in Florida... and no dressing up like Santa Claus either. (Palm Beach Post)

4. Apparently former President Clinton and his "brother from another mother" have frequent late-night chats.  Check out who it is HERE (RollCall)

5. Meet "Little Obama" – *spoiler alert* – 'Barry' grows up to be the President of the United States.

Personally, I'd like a go-round with BPs chief executive, Hayward. This corporation has created more destruction for America than any one single thing in centuries. Indeed, it may possibly require centuries for their oil eruption to dissipate and cease its damage. All the lies they've spouted about the amount of oil escaping from the well points to their arrogance and greed. That they lacked the foresight to consider that this could occur and plan for a fix points to their omnipotence, and again, greed. Mega-money affects some humans like this. The principles they live by leaves them no principals.

I went to the gulf of Louisiana several times while I resided in Georgia. There is no place on earth quite like it; certainly not in our country. The aura is "heavenly" and the wildlife unique and breathtaking. My heart is profoundly broken and I am angry.

I'm sorry, I inadvertently pressed "submit comment" prior to finishing my statement. [I had intended to correct last sentence in first paragraph and thought I was pressing "preview."]

I believe that BP should be legally compelled to pay each American citizen $50.000 per day until their oil eruption is corrected and the land and water cleaned. Moreover, they should be compelled to pay each person who earned their living from the Gulf a flat million dollars, then the fifty thousand per day should kick in. Americans should not allow a partial stoppage, it must be complete.

Perhaps, this might provide BP with the incentive to move on this disaster before it is completely uncontrollable.

I have relatives who live near the Gulf of LA and a nephew who supported his mother and a child from his work as a fisherman. Like thousands of others, they're still in recovery from Katrina. This is too much for the people to bear.

I enjoy Larry Kings's show and congratulate him for the issues he tackles. It's what Americans need!

Thank tou.

EVERY HEART HERE GOES OUT TO EVERYONE AFFECTED BY THIS HORRIFIC TRAGEDY. UNFORTUNATELY IT'S NOT JUST PEOPLE WHO HAVE AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE AFFECTED BY THIS. THE SHORELINE, WILDLIFE, AND INDUSTRIES WILL BE AFFECTED ALSO. SINCE THIS PROBLEM CUTS INTO SO MANY AVENUES OF LIFE WE THINK THIS AS DONE A COMPARABLE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE AS ANY OF THE TERRORIST ACTS OF RECENT MEMORY. SO WHY HASN'T BP BEEN HELD LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE AND MADE TO DO MORE THAN THEY ARE DOING PRESENTLY AFTERALL ISN'T THREE MILES OFF THE SHORELINE AND CLOSER CONSIDERED THE USA. AT THE VERY LEAST BP HAS DAMAGED AMERICAS PROPERTY.

For many decades the Republican party has led America down the rosy road of total Big Oil dependence. And why is that? Big Oil is the Republican party's primary donor. Despite their circus tent hawking Big Oil is cheap, there is nothing cheap about the true cost of Big Oil. American family's across America that have suffered from Lead Poisoning by the 7 Million Ton's of Lead spewed out when Big Oil added Lead to Gasoline instead of using Ethanol (Grain Alcohol) as the known safer alternative. How cheap was that on America's Familys?

For decades Republican lawmakers in Louisiana have placed Big Oil's special interests above those of commercial fishery's and the environment. Public schools receiving a small portion of the Big Oil payoff to the State of Louisiana proudly display Oil Derricks shooting Oil out of the top with the words, 'OILERS' on them.

Sadly when Republican's special interests are placed far and away above the needs and common sense of those they have given their 'oath and promise' to serve, those under the Republican lawmakers thumbs suffer and Louisiana is greatly suffering now as a result.

Well said to all the above comments. I take a bow.

Where are all the smart people in BP who can drill these wells and yet can't stop them when something like this happens. Couldn't they foresee these things. Shaking my head and rolling my eyes.

I have just been reading the comments on the links to the (Palm Beach Post) Post on Politics........and they have been quite interesting and I am being provided with some insight into things pertaining.

That is right.........this oil disaster cannot be compared to Katrina.......in that Katrina was a natural disaster. But you can still see some parallels as to how things are being handled. Also, as in both cases the finger-pointing can go back to previous administrations and their policies etc....

There should have been a co-ordinated plan in place from Day 1 of this disaster. It all seems like a nightmare.

Repeat....

***** Memorial Day Tribute *****

This is for every soldier, who died on foreign soil
They paid the ultimate price by being true and loyal.....

This is for every soldier whose pain and anguish continues inside
Often with feelings of being used, but holding fast to their pride……

For deep in their souls the pendulum of pain continues to prevail
Like the nightly sweet smell of death that blows against the sail……..

In darkness, during moments of silence they visit that foreign land
Memories of bitter-sweet sadness for those who will never stand……

Throughout life many continue in hope for some sense of atonement
And the war raging inside resulting from societal disillusionment.......

With a deep troubling sigh, for the soldiers currently fighting in Iraq
What will happen to their psyche when they survive and come back.....

From the horrors of all wars these soldiers now can clearly see
Paid for by their blood, sweat and tears in order to keep us free……
– Dodie Ryan 2010

*******************************************
My heart goes out to every soldier who has fought in a war, regardless of the cause. I am one individual who will always feel beholden...
Thank You from the depths of my soul!

Revelation 11 Verse 18 –

"The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints and those who reverence your name, both small and great – AND FOR DESTROYING THOSE WHO DESTROY THE EARTH."

Take note earth destroyers.

Please forget about stoping the leak at least by now, the oil is going up any way so put in in a pipe and drop it into tankers in the surface,
this will stop oil from spreading around and reach the coast, untill
a real solution to stop the leak is found. Stop playing games. This is a lot more simple, and unexpensive move. Are you still following orders
from ( the oilers) same ones that allowed all this calamities to happen
to America? the unnecesary wars, the economic melt down, the unrregulated drillings off U.S. coast's like this one that lead to the biggest man made catastrophy on U.S. history? Of course, that's what you are, and that's what matter to you. The familly's around the Golf coast, the marine fauna, birds, fish, plants, eco-system's life, generally
speaking, on that region and in this country is not important to you, but
it is to us, and we need an responsible answers to this big mess.
