I refuse to idolate a humanbeing; That is only recerve to God, and to no one else.

judiemcr   January 31st, 2010 11:14 pm ET

luckbee no one is asking you to do so,go somewhere else.

kindnesss   January 31st, 2010 11:15 pm ET

Michael if only you knew how much i love you

The performance was wonderful, Michael's voice in background ... awww.. I am thrilled.. God bless you Michael

MourningMJ   January 31st, 2010 11:15 pm ET

I was slightly disappointed in the tribute to MJ with Earth Song. It wasn't broke- why did they try to fix it? The original was much better; they should have left it in pure Michael form untouched. That would be the ultimate tribute- peace.
The best highlight of the evening, however, is Prince Michael and Paris. Hands down.

Michael is all about superlatives!
He's a number 1, has such wonderful kids, performed such a fantastic song, created such a great movie!
Want more? 🙂

MourningMJ   January 31st, 2010 11:15 pm ET

@KINDNESS-

Oh good, our radar is working again, LOL

maryrm   January 31st, 2010 11:16 pm ET

no one is idolizing a human being. Michael is being honoured for his life of musical achievement. The video is posted so people can see a portion of his concert, see his vision.

Nicole S. -- North Carolina   January 31st, 2010 11:16 pm ET

This would have been a more fitting blog to begin with.

Michael, wherever you are:

- You "done good." Those babies were fantastic tonight.

They will continue to spread his message. I knnow they will

This is not about you and your opinions it about the tribute, let it go it's over.

THE TWO ANGELS CAME OUT TO SAY
HOW MUCH THEY LOVED DADDY TODAY
AND I SAY HE MUST BE PROUD
THE WAY THEY SPOKE UP TO THAT CROWD
THEY HAD THEM STANDING ON THERE FEET
AND I SAY THEY LOOKED SO SWEET
THEY THANKED THE FAMILY FOR BEING THERE
IT IS TRUE LOVE THAT FAMILY SHARE
THEY HAD THERE COUSINS THERE FOR THEM
SEE THAT FAMILY LOVE AGAIN
ITS ALL FOR LOVE THEY HAD TO SAY
WE KNOW IT IS THERE DADDYS WAY
THATS WHY WE BELIEVE IN HIM
WE ARE HERE FOR YOU OUR KING

I BELIEVE I WILL BE THERE

Diane in Minneapolis   January 31st, 2010 11:25 pm ET

It is odd to me that the family were not invited. There were family members of the other LAA recipients in the audience. Maybe there is a limit to how many can go or something.

michael's voice is amazing. the earth song is an incredibley hard song to sing. and only michael himself can do it justice. I wish it was only his voice. some parts of the really difficult and only michael can sing it. but over all liked the tribute. the kids were of course amazing and very mature. it takes a lot to talk at that age infront of that audience. well done michael jackson for doing such an excellent job raising those wonderfull children. they did this for their father and they did an excellent job. love them all.

brigidaitaly   January 31st, 2010 11:26 pm ET

Thank you for this new blog.
The tribute was very emotional, his children did wonderful and the standing ovation at the end was right.
I have to watch it again tomorrow, if it's on youtube or somewhere else, have to elaborate more for details. My tears came up and I guess, I missed something : )

The thought that his kids will spread his message... it's just a prove that Michael did a perfect job in raising them : )

Beverly - Chicago   January 31st, 2010 11:27 pm ET

This was a great tribute to Michael. The Earth Song says so much about who he is. Prince and Paris did a wonderful job! I'm sure that Michael is so proud of them right now. They are both beautiful children. So is Blanket, but I don't think he was there tonight.

@MMJ
I agree should have left the song to Michael.

Im heartbroke for the children.... Im angry too at the murdering ba***rds who took their daddy away!!

maryrm   January 31st, 2010 11:35 pm ET

That was a beautiful tribute. I smiled when it was only Michael's voice singing the difficult, signature parts of the song – there is only one Michael!

Lionel did a wonderful intro, I didn't have 3D glasses so didn't get to enjoy that part and the ovation was so sincere and deserved – Beyonce is a beautiful person, so emtional.

Prince and Paris did such a beautiful job, that takes bravery and character, and of course a deep love. 3t for support – wonderful idea.

kindnesss   January 31st, 2010 11:35 pm ET

@MourningMJ

of course it is working hun:)

how are ya?

MourningMJ   January 31st, 2010 11:38 pm ET

@DN-

I agree, I'm not quite sure why they (whoever "they" is) decided it was necessary to "add??" to the world's BEST entertainer's masterpiece! It doesn't make sense to me. I was also disappointed that a more extensive tribute wasn't present either. I was certain they would have compiled a montage of videos, photgraphs, and clips from ALL of the grammys he performed at. In addition to highlighting all of the grammys he won- the 1984 MEGA sweep? What a let down, but that is my fault for placing such expectations.

@ANYONE- Does anyone know if the Grammys will be having an RIP tribute for all musical artists who passed away in 2009?

IHMJ xoxo

akshara   January 31st, 2010 11:39 pm ET

@Mourning MJ
you should never get disappointed when you know that someone else is singing the song . Nobody can ever emulate michaels songs.....NOBODY ....The songs he wrote, sang and danced were his and only if he did them it is great. The tribute was good.....I love jennifer hudson but since it is michael's song ....hmmm I think it is better left untouched...
As for the kids as i said in the previous blog...now michael has achieved it all....most wonderful kids in the world....

MourningMJ   January 31st, 2010 11:41 pm ET

@KINDNESS-

I'm doing well; just taking it all in, how are you? I am very proud of MJ3. They did such a loving job for their daddy. Michael is beaming from ear to ear I am sure....

@MICHAEL
Thanks for your music!!

maryrm   January 31st, 2010 11:43 pm ET

I think it is for the purpose of giving tribute, plus it is a live stage show, so incorporating the stage with the film. anyway, I liked it but like I said, I had to smile that the difficult parts were left for Michael to sing!

These performers also carry alot of weight and showing their support of Michael will make an impact on people. These Grammys will make an impact on people.

MourningMJ   January 31st, 2010 11:44 pm ET

@AKSHARA!!!!!

Hello.. Thank you for your beautiful words. You couldn't have said it better, Akshara- "nobody can ever emulate Michael's songs".... Of course not. I felt that this composition is a treasure of the Earth- Michael's gift to us. It was so much more than just words, rather than a lesson. Yes, the children were exceptional. I loved everythig down to their clothing selection. They have many wonderful adventures ahead of them...

I thought they would show the video montage. I know they showed one yesterday at the Special Merit Ceremony. But it was cut off by those webcast hosts and fan videos that kept popping up during that whole online broadcast.

kindnesss   January 31st, 2010 11:46 pm ET

these sweeties are real proud for their daddy 🙂 I loved their calm and dedicated speeches.. they did actually a great job.. OMG.. kids are only 12 and 11.. has everyone seen how professionally they behaved on the stage? love these children!

babycarie   January 31st, 2010 11:51 pm ET

The Earth song is amazing...it is just a briiliant piece of music...Mike was brilliant!!

Anne   January 31st, 2010 11:53 pm ET

Tonight was exactly what I was hoping for. That Michael Jackson's Lifetime Achievement Grammy would be presented again in front of the whole world on live tv and having his children there to accept it was just so wonderful. I am very happy with Lionel's speech and the standing ovation. It was very well done. I would have preferred hear more of Michael's voice singing, but I guess it made the other performers feel good to honor him by participating.

Diane – I bet you are right that each winner only gets a certain number of tickets.

Lori - Justice For Michael   January 31st, 2010 11:53 pm ET

A terrific tribute from Prince and Paris – such bravery and charm. It's obvious the love and pride they have for their dad AND the superb job Michael did as a father. There was such a maturity and gentleness to Prince's voice, too. I agree with those who've mentioned that MJ's kids will continue his message.

MourningMJ   January 31st, 2010 11:57 pm ET

SORRY SADA!

That was deleted QUICK! But I did see it!

akshara   January 31st, 2010 11:58 pm ET

@MourningMJ
hi..yes i do agree with you....a video montage would have been a wonderful thought, highlighting his acheivements( ofcourse not every... then it will take a whole day...cause there are so many!!) . But knowing that his kids were in the arena they could have shown it live to them how much the world loves their daddy. That would have been a wonderful thought, but as we all know when it comes to michael jackson someone takes the moment like the VMA's remember kanyes act which became a show sympathizing taylor instead of honoring a man who gave it all for 5 decades......
All i can say is thats how people are....never giving credit to the one who deserves...

I am not here to hurt anybody's sentiments nor am i saying I hate people I just feel that michael was deprived of the credit from the industry though it is plain that everybody try to inculcate his songs, music , dance , speech, soft voice , his wardrobe and ofcourse his Ideas!!

Prince and Paris are such beautiful children. They handled being on stage quite well. And we were able to see alot of their fathers' mannerisms which is really very sweet. Bless his lovely children.

JMO on the tribute:

I think the artists did a wonderful job and I was happy that Michael's singing was a part of it as well. The ladies did a superb job! After reading that Frank accepted the award for Michael last night, I had very little doubt that Michael's kids would be at the Grammys tonight, so I was THRILLED to see them!!!! I am glad both kids spoke and outside of his estate, I think the kids will do the BEST job of preserving their dad's legacy.

I ❤ MJ3!!!!

babycarie   February 1st, 2010 12:10 am ET

YES!! I said it was like an entire MJ night...right down to Slash!!! The pop-up by Black Eyed Peas...the knee pads...the soldiers....all MJ Grammy's!!!

Maggie from Australia   February 1st, 2010 12:10 am ET

I enjoyed the part with the children and wished we could hear Michael singing more after all its his music but that said Paris and Prince did their father proud as we all knew they would.RIP Michael.

MourningMJ   February 1st, 2010 12:10 am ET

@DN- LOL, I hope they keep it up but if Chubby Checker makes his way in here, I guess that will be our cue to exit stage left!

@MARY/ANNE- I agree, I think it was instrumental in demonstrating remarkable and talented singers to support Michael; I just wish that Earth Song was left alone- it was a message, a lesson if you will. Them standing on stage in front of the screen was a distraction, IMHO of course. I guess I was expecting something mind blowing, however, with Michael not there to call the shots, I should have expected it to fall a little short. I'd listen to Paris and P. Michael over and over again if I could- such a genuine reflection of their daddy.

@AKSHARA- Wow, what a beautiful post. I agree, a tribute to Michael in our taste would take days! I am confident that something for Michael, in due time, will be orchestrated and executed flawlessly. It will take an extensive team of masterminds and creative artists, but the most relevant input they should consider would be that of his children.

@luckybee January 31st, 2010 11:01 pm ET

I'm speaking only for myself, but I've seen a few of your posts and its really been weighing on my mind. I pray that you will see and read my post.

I wanted to say that I only have Reverence for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There is a distinction between worshiping God and having an appreciation for God-given gifts and talents, that God Himself blesses to each human being in various ways.

I am an illustrator. And in my field there are a lot of wonderful and amazing illustrators who's work/styles I appreciate, admire, and draw inspiration from. All gift and talents they've been given by God.

As another artist to another artist, although I'm more of a visual artist I too appreciate the gift/talents given to Michael by God. I'm sure that there are artists, or people in your field who you may admire their God-given gifts and talents. And I don't doubt that you would not worship any of them, because for you there is distinction between the two.

I hope this will ease your concerns a little. It eases my mind to let you know for my part how I feel.

take care
gigi :O)

@ISITSCARY4u-

Did you miss the tribute to Michael? Or his children accepting the LAA on his behalf? That was the "live" obituary, if you will. It wasn't necessary to include Michael in the RIP tributes, he had an entire segment dedicated to him. I wasn't sure if you were able to watch the show in its entirity, that is why I ask if you saw the tribute.

Open your eyes. They just showed a list of everyone in the recording academy that has died since last year's Grammys and Michael was the only one not on the list.

isitscary4u   February 1st, 2010 12:23 am ET

MMJ – Of course, I saw it. They said "we love you Daddy and told the world they are going to continue his message of love." Oh, good. I'm glad you saw it; certainly not the show for any MJ fan to miss! It was touching wasn't it? Like I said, it wasn't necessary to include MJ in the RIP tribute- he just had an entire segment dedicated to him. It was implied that the tribute was indicative of his death. Thank you for the response. Take care.

I am glad that MJ's messages are slowly, but surely being spread throughout the wolrd.. and tonight, by a number of influential artistes nonetheless..

Prince n Paris were so cute.. and brave.. i cud tell Prince was a little nervous (who wudnt be?), stumbling upon his words trying so hard to remember the speech he'd prepared for that night.. i Hope his kids now how much they are loved and cared for by ppl across the globe, and how much their father has and always will be loved.. ❤

MourningMJ   February 1st, 2010 12:28 am ET

@GIGI-

Wow, that is so strange that no one from Michael's family was invited but his children? I could only imagine that they were escorted to the event by an adult besides T3 or is it 3T? Oh dear- too much. Well, they should have given a better tribute to Michael. Even MTV contributed much, MUCH more to Michael in September.

dnj4mj   February 1st, 2010 12:32 am ET

@MMJ
Branca is partially behind this i bet!!
Howard Weitzman only speaks ill of the ones from the Jackson family who say Mike was murdered... hopefully this decision has angered the family so much it may unite them and make the others determined to not let Mikes murder go unnoticed!!

Sending cups of love and kindness...

Stacey   February 1st, 2010 12:32 am ET

Well I thought that Celine, Usher, Carrie, Jennifer, and Smokey did a great job with Michael's song.... And Michael's vocals on it was beautiful as always.... Great artists were picked to sing along with Michael.... Celine in her own right is an icon and a legend and has one of the most beautiful voice, Smokey is a legend, Carrie is paving her way, as is Jennifer.... And Usher is a icon in his own right also....

It must have been hard for Prince and Paris to go up in front of all those people... I could tell that they were nervous and still very much heartbroken... But they were doing it for their daddy... And I'm sure Michael is more than proud of them....

REST IN PEACE MICHAEL

babycarie   February 1st, 2010 12:32 am ET

'Before he died'....Michael Jackson died June 25, 2009. His children are 7, 11, and 12 years old and they accept that their daddy died...they are moremature than some 'adults.'
Respect Michael's death.

Beverly - Chicago   February 1st, 2010 12:35 am ET

@isitscaryforu:

I agree with you. Michael is alive. For an artist of his creative magnitude and global influence, If he were dead they would have done an all-encompassing tribute to him and his life and not just focused on The Earth Song. Anything less would be completely disrespectful. This is Michael's way of sending a message.

The great adventure continues.

isitscary4u   February 1st, 2010 12:35 am ET

Connie – IL Michael is very much alive.
MMJ – I think it is wonderful that the kids are working to get their father's message out to the world. You take care, too.

"We are proud to be here to accept this award on behalf of our father, Michael Jackson," older brother Prince said. "First of all, we'd like to thank God for watching over us for the past seven months. And our grandmother and grandfather for their love and support. We would also like to thank the fans. Our father loved you so much because you were always there for him. Our father was always concerned about the planet and humanity. Through all his hard work and dedication, he's helped with many charities and donated to all of them. Through all his songs his message was simple: love. We will continue to spread his message and help spread the word. Thank you. We love you, Daddy."

Prince choked up during his speech but maintained his composure and showed admirable poise while he spoke.

TXmom   February 1st, 2010 12:35 am ET

The more I think about it, with the kids being minors, their guardian (their grandmother) could have insisted on going if she wanted to be there. So I question the whole "sisters, brothers, parents" weren't invited thing. The focus needed to be on the two children tonight, not the rest of them and I am not quite sure that would have happened if some of the others were in the audience (or if they had made their way to the stage).

Gerald Jolly   February 1st, 2010 12:36 am ET

No words, only tears.

WE have lost someone that is irreplacable.

What a tragedy.

I admit and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

"I CRIED"

Sada   February 1st, 2010 12:36 am ET

I don't know if this has been posted, but Blanket was at the Grammys too!!!! I just saw a backstage picture of Prince, Paris, and Blanket with Lionel Richie. Prince looks really proud to have accepted the award for his dad. whoever made the decision to have the kids accept....it was the right thing to do. 🙂

gigi   February 1st, 2010 12:37 am ET

I think Taj himself is dad, or is it one of the other brothers. I'm sure they and 1 or 2 bodyguards with them as well.

dnj4mj   February 1st, 2010 12:37 am ET

"Daddy was supposed to be here, Daddy was gonna perform this year," she said, keeping her composure. "He couldn't perform last year. Thank you, we love you, Daddy."

Paris Jackson

Maura   February 1st, 2010 12:37 am ET

It was disrespectful for some artists to have so much foul language when they knew children would be there including Michael's. I hope they didn't hear all that vulgarity. 😮

Indeed, I can feel it...

isitscary4u   February 1st, 2010 12:40 am ET

DN – We heard the message loud and clear. And we also saw that he was not in the "memorium list" although several other lifetime achievement award winners were, and there were no dates of birth and death placed on his picture at the end of the tribute, although these dates were placed on others pictures. This is about spreading Michael's message. Michael is alive.

Maura   February 1st, 2010 12:42 am ET

That was supposed to be a shocked emoticon. I don't know if it looks like it.

I've always wondered how much Branca and Weitman really do know with their "connections" in higher places, even though we disagree on the cause of death, however, I'm sure there is alot more to this than any of us will ever know! Good bloggin' with you tonight! Sweet dreams- don't oversleep. They took away your link ... You'll wake up to Chubby Checker and Beach Boys tomorrow, lol.

@JUDIE- Oh Judie; It is disheartening, I agree. What I do look forward to is the multiple explanations regarding Conrad's arrest- IF it happens this week. I can hear it now.... lol

I was liked the tribute because the participants – Lionel, performers and Prince and Paris in addition to the song and film.

But the fact that the Grammy people did not invite other members of the family – there is simply no excuse and I am definitely going to communicate a protest to the Grammy Awards. I don't know what politics are in play here but that to me is a slap in the face.

Lori – I know, I was calling them kids a few weeks ago then Taj mentioned his age on his website, he couldn't believe he was already 36!

I sent a protest email to the Grammy's that no other family member was even invited.

MourningMJ   February 1st, 2010 1:04 am ET

Well, I love all of you, but I do have to disagree on some points. Mary, I'm with you. I think the ENTIRE family should have been invited and present. His parents gave him life. Despite the fact that Joe was a real big fill-in-the-blank, Michael did thank him on multiple occassions and what their relationship at the time of Michael's passing is just not up for speculation. Katherine and Joe had to bury their child; their son. Not an entertainer. It was his siblings who witnessed and supported Michael as Michael said in his own words "through my anguish and my pain, through my joy and my sorrow", and they were there. And it is his children- his legacy. They only witnessed 7, 11, and 12 years of Michael's life; merely a glimpse. This family is a unit. I wouldn't believe for a second that Michael would support any of us fans/admirers breaking them down. Not now or ever. IMHO of course. Maybe I have it all wrong; Michael always demonstrated the importance of maintaining the family integrity. He didn't seem to make the exception to his own.

Randy sounds unhappy that family was not invited. Perhaps he has been able to move to a point in his grief to a place where he felt he could support his brother in a public venue. Imagine his disappointment to then not even be invited to see this tribute.

Anne   February 1st, 2010 1:13 am ET

It was Paris and Prince's night to honor their dad. I am so happy for them that they did such a wonderful job. It seems a bit self centered for Randy to be detracting from what a great job they did by complaining.

MourningMJ   February 1st, 2010 1:13 am ET

@MARYRM-

Yes, I did read the tweets. I am extremely disappointed in the Academy panel for their behavior in not inviting the Jacksons. To be fair, we do not know the facts from both sides, just what Randy is tweeting, perhaps he had bad information? But it does make sense to me that if the greatest Entertainer and Humanitarian of ALL time is scheduled to be honored for the most prestigious award in the musical compass, the entire family who has a history of not only the music industry, but the Grammys themselves, would be invited to partake in it. Something tells me that the decisions made would be supported by the Hollywood politics, something that you had mentioned. I really hope that they weren't considering the circumstances in which Michael passed away as a contributing factor to his tribute this evening. Something is amiss.

I am wondering if the last minute switch from the Saturday afternoon ceremony to the one tonight is the reason that not enough tickets were available for all 8 brothers and sisters and parents etc to attend tonight. I would think that these guest lists are made up a long time in advance. The part I do not understand is why did the Grammy people think that the Saturday afternoon ceremony was an adequate honor for Michael Jackson. Why did they not plan to present his award tonight all along? Is it tradition or a rigid protocol? Who were all the people in those 20,000 seats tonight that no one could give up their seat for his family?

Earth Song was great tonight, though I was hoping for more. It went by so fast!! Great intro by Lionel; He Smokey and Usher all had great things to say on the red carpet as well.

They did do a whole tribute for Les Paul though and he was also included in the in memoriam section. I'm sure that will be noticed.

Did anyone else think Beyonce was going to bust out with a litle TDRCAU when the millitary dancers came out behind her? I heard that the dancers from This is It were going to be there. Wonder if that was them?
Will.i.am's outfit was another great tribute too!

I agree!! Several individuals were honored tonight with only one or two family members in the audience for support. why should an exception be made to invite the entire jackson clan to the awards?? the most appropriate of Michael's family were there, IMO.

who would the fans rather see, jermaine and his kids accepting the grammy OR Prince & Paris?? who wants to see joe flaunt another buxom "artist" on his arm at an event??

doubtingthomas2010   February 1st, 2010 1:58 am ET

Hello to all, great acceptance speech by the children. And they were supported by their family. They are strong and the represented their father well. If you notice, they didn't show any negativity while accepting the award, and it was their father who dealt with a lot of crap throughout the years. So to all the bloggers in here, we should follow that example.

And I'm happy that they acknowledged their family.

Caitie:)   February 1st, 2010 1:59 am ET

This was beautiful, the 3D didn't work so well on my TV but I still teared up, Michael had and is making such a big impact. It was so beautiful. And Michael Jackson's kids are gorgeous! Prince is so handsome, like his father and Paris is very pretty. I couldn't help but say "awww" after the tribute. Amazing.

Michael Jackson's Grammy Tribute Goes Beyond Remembering His Music, Reinforces His Message
Posted Sun Jan 31, 2010 8:27pm PST by Billy Johnson, Jr. in And The Winner Is...

All the music-themed award shows have paid their respects to Michael Jackson with heartfelt tributes. But the Grammys topped them all Sunday night because they not only displayed the King of Pop's music but captured the sentiment of one of the issues closest to his heart–saving the planet.
Then for the shocking finale, Jackson's two eldest children, Prince Michael and Paris, accepted the Grammys' Lifetime Achievement on their father's behalf. (Michael's youngest son, Prince II aka "Blanket," remained backstage.)
Instead of offering a medley of his biggest records, Celine Dion, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, and Smokey Robinson joined for a performance of Jackson's "Earth Song" as a 3D version of the video from This Is It played in the background. Additionally, some of Jackson's lead vocals were also used for the live rendition.
The featured artists were great choices and offered broad, diverse appeal to the sound of the record. It also made "Earth Song" bigger, like the global anthem "We Are The World" that Jackson co-wrote along with Lionel Richie 25 years ago.
Smokey said he was honored to be a part of the tribute. "I hope that people were listening to even more so than seeing," Robinson said to press backstage. "This is it for us. We need to be aware of what we're doing and do something about it before it's too late."
The most moving part of the song was its climax, when each of the performers had a moment to get front-and-center and belt. Hudson shined here, as it was a gospel moment that suited her well. Underwood also captured the passion of the record.
The 3D element was a nice touch, but only offered a few bonuses of dandelions and a fluttering butterfly. But this segment was clearly about the message not the special effects.
After the performance, Lionel Richie, who introduced the performance, announced that Jackson's children and their cousins (Tito Jackson's sons) would be accepting their dad's award.
Seeing Jackson's kids walk out was emotional. It was sad because seeing them reminded me of their daily struggle of coping their father's death. But seeing them was also a joyous experience because they looked vibrant and beautiful. He would be proud.
They appear to have matured so much since we last saw them at the memorial in July.
But even more impactful was their composure and strength.
Big brother Prince Michael had the stage presence of his dad as he boldly approached the microphone with his sister and offered an acceptance speech that singled that he and his siblings were OK.
"[We] like to thank the fans, our father loved you so much," Prince Michael II said. "Our father was always concerned about the planet."
Prince Michael added that his father's music had a universal theme of love. "We will continue to spread his message," he said.
Backstage after the tribute, Prince Michael, Paris, and "Blanket" posed with Lionel Richie for an historical, cross-generational photo opp.
As cool as the other award show tributes were, I honestly think this presentation is closer to what Jackson would have wanted. It was not just about him, but about all of us.

Maura   February 1st, 2010 2:25 am ET

REST IN PEACE MICHAEL

Brenda   February 1st, 2010 2:32 am ET

@Maura–Hello to you. It was the best grammys I have watched in years. @All–Does anyone know if the grammys are decided on an artist sales throughout the year?

Maura   February 1st, 2010 2:35 am ET

@doubtingthomas2010

Yes I'm very well. I hope you are well too.

jamis   February 1st, 2010 2:35 am ET

Last thoughts about the performance...I loved it. 3D or not, the message is timeless. I thought the artists did a wonderful job contributing their talents to the song, and of course, Michael's voice remaining – it shouldn't have been any other way. And Smokey rocked, didn't he?

We will NEVER know everything about the Jacksons. Who are we to judge them when all we know is what they want us to see?

@Stacey – Thanks for posting the article.

@Those who posted video of the performance and acceptance speech – THANK YOU. I didn't get to see the show, but was hoping someone would post videos. 😉

@Timeless, Maura, ibelieve, doubtingthomas

Enjoy the rest of your evening. See you next time!

Goodnight everyone!

Maura   February 1st, 2010 2:39 am ET

Stacey   February 1st, 2010 2:40 am ET

Brenda

The RIAA and record companies submits recording and videos released during the year... Then ballots are sent out to voting members of the assoication and they vote ... Hope that helps....

isitscary4u   February 1st, 2010 2:40 am ET

Lynn – IL – exactly. And the tribute to Les Paul was longer than the tribute to Michael. Les Paul was on the list. Michael was not. Tonight was about the message and it was delivered powerfully and beautifully.

Lisa S   February 1st, 2010 2:44 am ET

The children were so cute. I'm sure they were ever so proud to recieve the price.

I hope that they will have a normal and good life and that they stay out of show buisness – it is not a healthy buisness.

Maura   February 1st, 2010 2:49 am ET

@jamis
Goodnight hun. sweet dreams. See u later.

Lynn-IL   February 1st, 2010 2:51 am ET

isitscary4u-
No problem, the truth is the truth. Les Paul was listed in the tribute and then had his own tribute after the memoriam section was over. that ended with dates of birth and death. That is a fact.

Your right, the message was crystal clear tonight, so many artists talked directly about spreading his message. I was so excited to hear that.! No matter what people think about his life and death, honoring the message he asked us to honor time and again in his music and life is the greatest thing we can do for him!

Maura   February 1st, 2010 3:02 am ET

Michael I love you and your three little children. Hugs and kisses. 🙂

G   February 1st, 2010 3:04 am ET

I rarely post here, but just saw the Michael Jackson Tribute (you know California time). I think that showing The Earth Song as Michael wanted it to be seen was a great "tip of the hat" to him and perhaps what he would have wanted. Adding the talent to the song was a great tribute to him. While I know some fans think that it should have just been Michael, it was a way for artists that he admired to honor him – and – they added their own unique gifts to the song – which what Michael was all about. He so admired other artist's talents, as well as when they wanted to do his songs.

IMHO, of course (tee hee).

The children were very brave and poised, given that not only they were speaking in front of a huge crowd, but I am sure they had in mind that MILLIONS of people were watching.

Lastly, I agree with the other bloggers that the continuation of the believer's party line that Michael is still alive (read: faked his death here) is disrespectful to Michael Jackson, his family, friends, and fans. Not only would it be impossible for him to do this (logistically, as well as he would NEVER do this to his close relationships), but his memory is tarnished by your insistance. Please be respectful and (as another blogger said) "hold your virtual tongue."

patdavis2010   February 1st, 2010 3:06 am ET

Just popped in for a minute to say I loved the tribute to Michael Jackson. It was amazing. His voice stood out above the rest! It was absolutely beautifull! I thought Carrie Underwood did an excellent job. I've loved her every since American Idol and she has proven herself to be a star! She held her own on that stage with the big voices and the legends in the music industry. She seem extremely proud to be particiapating in this tribute to Michael Jackson. I LOVED IT 🙂 !

Prince and Paris, what more can be said. What special children. They were so proud and fearless! You could hear a pin drop when they were speaking. They were dressed well, they both spoke so clearly. I was impressed. Michael sure must have been proud looking down on them. He really did a great job raising his children. They are destined for success in whatever they choose to do.

Goodnight All!!! Blog Ya Later!!! MJ-FAN4LIFE!!!

stuci   February 1st, 2010 3:20 am ET

Hi everybody!

My opinion,is,that the tribute was nice.Lional Richie said, what Michael was about, change the world, for this was wery good to show this new Earthsong, and i am sure, the artists did it from them heart after what i was read from Seline Dion. What was make my heart beat, whenn everybody stand up.I dont think,we have ever see something like that on Gramy. That was just talk for it self.Thenn the childrens mad the highest point of the evening. They was wonderfull, and continue send the same message as them father.

The only thing i missed from the tribute,to talk few words about how MJ changed the music world.Thats all i missed.Would have bin nice to hear something of that, even,we all know.

It is SO SAD to hear Sean Penn say that the children of Haiti have been "Bullied by God". How Misinformed he is !! I say point the finger of blame where it belongs: to the "prince of this world"; Satan. He is the one responsible for all the suffering, sadness and death in this world and the reason is SIN. (separation ...from God). God has promised an end to ALL this soon when Christ comes the second time. Disasters such as this are going to get worse and more common before that great EVENT just as foretold in His Word. I feel sorry for those that don't take time to study the Bible to grasp an understanding of The Great Controversy between Christ and Satan and God's Plan of Salvation offered to the human race. I will not support anyone that holds Sean's distorted view of a Loving Creator-God who died on the cross and rose again for our salvation.

At the grammys Sunday night at 5:00 (in the video) you will hear the words -

What about "if i live" again
(ooo, ooo)
Do we give a damn

---

Here are the lyrics at the end of Earth Song-

What about death again
(ooo, ooo)
Do we give a damn

Lori - Justice For Michael   February 1st, 2010 5:24 am ET

@Lynn-IL....I know, it was a little odd that Michael's name was not listed in the Memoriam remembrances along with everyone else.....maybe the TV broadcast didn't show it all? Or maybe it was just some honest mistake. Didn't last year's Oscars mess up listing Whoopi Godberg's awards? I guess I am just making the point that mistakes do happen ....but it does seem a bit odd to me, but I do not think that it adds up to any proof, but that is just my thoughts...

Prince and Paris were so brave...I was thinking...the last time they were on Stage at the Staples Center was at the Memorial Service...it must have been so hard for them.

JUSTICE FOR MICHAEL

To answer the question you asked in Earth Song at the Grammys Michael. Yes I do give a damn that you live, I would rather have you alive. Michael IS Alive.

@MARGUERITE MY FRIEND SO TRUE

WHAT IS THIS WHAT YOU SAY
WAS PERFORMED LIVE THAT DAY
CAN THIS BE ANOTHER CLUE
I WONDER NOW IS IT TRUE
BUT STILL THEY BELIEVE THE LIE
WE BOTH KNOW HE DID NOT DIE

I BELIEVE I WILL BE THERE

@Marguerite

I'm with you. Yes we do care Michael!!!!

ibelieve25   February 1st, 2010 5:50 am ET

The Grammy performance was awesome, just another example of Michael at his very best. All six vocals were great, mixing together in a harmonious tune. Wonder how they would've sounded on a studio recording using vocal enhancements and filters?

@G
I would like to speak for myself only. Michael is about love, peace, respect, and a strong voice in human rights, including those rights which we as American's are fortunate to have. This includes my right to have my belief however I see fit. You also have something wrong when it comes to me. I do not believe in any hoax. I believe in Michael Jackson, for his wonderful talents, his kind heart and the messages he has shared with the world. He is a genius, an entertainer, and loves all his fans worldwide. Not once would he ever try to pit fans against one another based on their race, sexual orientation, or beliefs, or what part of the world they might be from. In my opinion, to respect each other is continuing the legacy he began many years ago. It's all about healing the world, peace, love..and most of all, healing. Which means that the finger pointing, and the idea of "if you don't think like I do then you are not a true fan" has got to stop..on both sides. A fan is a fan no matter what they believe. No one on here is perfect, we have all had our moments of less than stellar posts. However, this is all about Michael. The last thing in this world he would ever want to see is what has been going on. Like I said, I can't speak for anyone else, just me personally.
I believe in Michael Jackson, the man, the entertainer, the father, the person who wants this world to make it beyond his own lifetime..for many future generations. This isn't going to happen as the biggest destruction is happening right here, among people as they are ripping each other apart or passing judgments. IMO of course. And for luckybee who might see this post wrong, I am above all a Christian, who believes in God, and in no way view Michael Jackson as anything more than one incredible human being.

The Grammy awards was one of the best I have seen for a long
time.
MJ kids were so beautiful I couldn't stop crying during the speach he raised them so well.. They have certanly grown. Paris is so pretty, Prince is so hansome and Blanket is so adorable reminds me of mini MJ....
The show had MJ all over it to the military look, abit of thriller with GAGA & Sir Elton John, Beyonce with the soldiers, crotch grab, arms held out, Slash, The Jumping out on stage. Pink with the pole dancers etc..

Earthsong was beautifully done with great singers MJ would be proud
he sounded so clear you would think it was live..

He wasnt listed in memorian I wonder why???????

beLIEve

butterfly   February 1st, 2010 7:11 am ET

@Letta

How are you going? Im listening to MJradio and its great to get an great cross range of Michael's talent since his childhood. It was delightful to see Paris and Prince express their love for their daddy today.

Letta (I beLIEve)   February 1st, 2010 7:23 am ET

@butterfly
I am doing fine. ty Yes it was so nice to see some very mature Kids, as Michael there. They was very well brought up as you can see, and it was nice to see them speak for their father. What I love most about their speaks was that they said "love you Daddy", NOT Miss you daddy. Now that to me said a lot.

@lookingforthetroot

Agree with you. The performers went all out to give a fitting tribute to MJ and it really sounded like he was there live. His voice was so vibrant and although the others were good, they were no match for the one and only original. Did you see Marguerite's post at 5.21 am about the change in words, it's correct I've listened to it.? Prince and Paris were really brave to face such a large audience and must have made the whole family proud and you could see the love and pride in their cousin's eyes too. I'm wondering about Paris's speech at the end, was Michael going to be there last year but wasn't or couldn't be. A little mysterious!!!!!

butterfly   February 1st, 2010 7:42 am ET

Letta, you are spot on there about the kids with their omission of the words "missing you daddy"!!! Of course we know why he was not on the "In Memoriam" list – the Man in the Mirror is alive...

It wouldnt surprise me one bit if that was in fact MJ speaking live!

Michael Jackson died June 25, 2009
His children accepted the Grammy last night on behalf of their daddy...they paid tribute to their deceased daddy who passed away 7 months ago.

Prince:
We are proud to be here to accept this award on behalf of our father, Michael Jackson," older brother Prince said.

Paris:
"Daddy was supposed to be here, Daddy was gonna perform this year," she said, keeping her composure. "He couldn't perform last year. Thank you, we love you, Daddy."

Through the nerves, they both did a brave and beautiful job of paying tribute to their daddy, Michael Jackson, who sadly passed away June 25, 2009.

RIP Michael Jackson
1958-2009
You are always in our hearts.

Not sure where the disconnect is. I listened to the Grammy Earth song link posted above. Michael sings 'what about death again'. I listened closely, several times. I have good headphones that give clear sound. Those are the words, just as Michael recorded them in the 90s.

It is a magnificent song. I still say it is sad that Mrs. Jackson (and her other children) were unable to attend to see not only this tribute but this amazing piece of stagework that Michael had crafted. It's not like she will have another opportunity.

stuci   February 1st, 2010 9:20 am ET

Shooting stars way up high,
Shooting fast across the sky.
Millions and millions of light years away,
Built on a galaxy here to stay.

But what would happen,
When the stars start to fall.
And all of a sudden,
Start to lose their glow.

And what would the night be,
If there were no stars in the sky.
And what would happen,
If they all curled up and died.

That's the time,
To wish and pray.
On that shooting star,
You saw that day.

With mind, body,
Heart and soul.
Wishing hard,
To keep them agow.

So shooting star,
Way up high.
Millions and millions of light years away,
I made my wish so your here to stay.

Lionel did a fantastic presentation and gave it justice.

The 5 singers that performed along to the "Earth Song" montage were fantastic too. Those ladies really belted it out and added a different edge to it. That montage of the Earth Song was just so magical. Michael's magic touch. Just loved it.

Those 3-D glasses were just out of this world I must say.

Was so proud of Michael's children and the beautiful little speech Prince gave. Michael's spirit is quite evident in them.

Also, lovely to see Tito's three gorgeous sons appearing along as support for Prince and Paris. Was quite touching.

Good Morning
I am from the great State of California and we are in the middle of a finicial crisis of our own and it seems nobody cares. Our great Governor has again lied to our kids about not cutting education. He is saying he is funding all the programs ,however he is actuallr proposing 2.5 billion dollars, cutting 400.00 per pupil. He is cutting another 200 milliom from child development programs,45 million from coounty offices of education,550 million from k-3 class size reduction, and 202 million from k-12 programs to reflect a negative cost of living adjustments for our teacher. This is an absolute joke that we can stand by and let this happen year after year to our kids and our teachers. We say we need our kids to be the leaders in math and science, however we take everthing away from them and the teachers and expect them to still become the leaders. We can raise millions and millionsof dollars for Haiti(and I know they need it) but we can't raise that money for our own children> I just donot get it. We need to wake up and see what is going on here. The leaders of our own State are taking us to the bank, getting top dollar salaries and sticking it to us and our kids

It is too bad that some of the lyrics were messed up.
Smokey sang ,I used to glance among the stars instead of I used to glance beyond the stars. Jennifer Hudson sang, what is wrong with us instead of where did we go wrong. Maybe they were rushed in practicing?

Prince Michael's emphasis on Michael Jackson's charitible work was important. Rather than focusing his speech on the great music legend that is MJ, Prince Michael said he, his sister Paris will continue with all of Michael's humanitarian causes. That is what made MJ human and his legacy will continue through causes.

Both children were well spoken and no doubt will do their best to help promote Michael's message of peace and contributing to people and causes in need. Peace to Michael.

@MJ's Tink & stuci- don't feed into it, that's how the vibe changes in here. Ignore.

Prince:
"Through all his songs his message was simple: love. We will continue to spread his message and help spread the word." Thank you. We love you, Daddy."

Seems to me the only ones spreading the message are the believers, with L.O.V.E

doubtingthomas2010   February 1st, 2010 11:54 am ET

Hey True-I enjoy your poems, but you shouldn't waste your words when you know it will lead into nonsense. You know exactly what some bloggers come in here and do. They keep on posting the same things to make us give them unnecessary attention so all of them can come here and start nonsense. You have your belief and they have theirs. We should ignore. They speak negativity all the time, and you would think by seeing how strong MJ's message is that they would stop. They are posting certain things on purpose. Please leave them alone.

The Lyrics didnt change... anyone will hear what they want to hear.. He doesnt say "what if I live again".. atleast I dont hear that I hear "what about death again"...

MourningMJ   February 1st, 2010 12:07 pm ET

The lyrics didn't change in the song-
Your hearing did.
You can make your ears hear anything they want to when you believe enough-
Same goes for the eyes- you can see things that aren't really there as well.
Earth Song was not touched. Period. That's as far as it goes. Seems to me this is another lame excuse to be forgiven that Michael, once again- did NOT make an appearnce in the Grammy's, in the Jacksons Dynasty finale, the resurrection in December, the resurrection in January and just a kind reminder, he will not be resurrecting in April.
**Every week it is another excuse why Michael did "not make the appearance" the clues suggested he was going to make. Alot of excuses and no production- kind of sounds like alot of the people who hung on to Michael in the last days of his life.

@True-please, don't waste your time.

A lot of people come here and bash his family, but they were the ones who really represented him last night. Like I said before, we don't really know the family dynamic. And when it comes to his relationship with his father, if he has forgiven him, who am I to judge? I think the children were great last night and they never mentioned their father in the past tense. Whatever you believe, his children didn't go up there in a harsh manner and talk about defending their father's legacy. They were the ones who had to deal with most of the world ridiculing their father, his lifestyle, allegations, paternity, etc. To me, it looks like they know exactly what their had to go through and they are very strong because of it. They were very humble. We should all take that into consideration.

@baby carrie

What a beautiful way to put it., especially the last part you wrote:
1958-2009
Respect Michael Jackson's death.
Respect his children.
Respect his legacy.

I love that, simple yet very powerful. Much L.OV.E. to you

Perhaps I'm lost here– are there still some thinking Michael is alive and his death was a hoax? Just ask yourselves, the one who believe he is still alive, what you would say if you stood in front of his mother, his children, his brothers and sisters, his friends and rattled off that to their face.

Do you think they would commend you for being a 'believer' or break down and cry, thinking you just said the cruelest thing a Michael Jackson fan could ever repeat?

I *believe* it is the latter.

Simply cruel this is still going on and that CNN allows it. Sickening.

Marguerite   February 1st, 2010 12:16 pm ET

You know what this is? It's exactly the same as when some people thought to hear "Dr. Murray, Resuscitation, Sounding Heartbeats, Intimidations" in Smooth Criminal. Hoaxers come up with such things from time to time, to gain attention. Now they try hard to convince themselves that MJ sang Earth Song live. That's all!

babycarie   February 1st, 2010 12:23 pm ET

Anyone who believes those two beautiful children walked onto that stage last night and lied/'pretended' or 'played a part' in some pathetic hoax...and worse, that Mike was behind the curtains telling them what to say, 'directing', is not a fan of Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson would NEVER have his own children go onto the Grammys in front of MILLIONS of people and lie!!! He would NEVER use his children is such a disgusting manner.

Prince:
We are proud to be here to accept this award on behalf of our father, Michael Jackson," older brother Prince said.

You deserve respect...your death deserves respect.
RIP.

I beg you not to dissect these children and their choice of words. Let them be and let them have this moment without tarnishing it. No matter what you believe, please do not pick them apart on this blog. I think you all might agree that they deserve at least that much from the public.

lindafromnewyork   February 1st, 2010 12:25 pm ET

"All the music-themed award shows have paid their respects to Michael Jackson with heartfelt tributes. But the Grammys topped them all Sunday night because they not only displayed the King of Pop's music but captured the sentiment of one of the issues closest to his heart–saving the planet."

I think the performance of Earth Song was a vey fitting tribute for Michael. To see Michael's perfomances from the past 40 years-you just have to go on the internet -showing a montage woud not have been that special IMHO. The children were wonderful–they look so grown up–Well done.

@MARIA-

So MJ was planning his hoax in 1988 with Smooth Criminal??? OMG- LOL! So, this really has been in the works for 20+ years? Wow- MJ must have had those superhuman powers that we were unaware of- able to read the future i.e. foresee the This is It concert cop-out way back in 1988?

But here is a cool piece of infro from Smooth Criminal: The heartbeat at the beginning of the song is actually Michael's. And Annie is referring to the CPR model that is use in "resusictation" instruction. (hope that wasn't a clue).

doubtingthomas2010   February 1st, 2010 12:28 pm ET

@Marguerite-I wasn't even looking for clues, I just wanted to watch a tribute. I don't see the need for people to come here at point fingers at other people's views. If you didn't hear that fine. I'm just saying regardless of what truth is they didn't go there and point fingers at any belief, they said they were going to continue to spread his message of L.O.V.E . So I think those that choose to believe need to ignore the ones who want to bring negativity. We don't have to share the same view, and I don't feel the need to have defend it to anyone here who doesn't agree. I've done that already and all that leads to is a response 10,0000 words or more long and some article. Marguerite you chose to believe fine, you don't need anyone here to accept it. I see exactly what they are doing, and I say ignore it.

'Our father WAS...'
'Daddy WAS..'
Clearly these children know their daddy died.
Shame some adults cannot respect that, their daddy or them.

And about the lyrics... as quoted from above:
At the grammys Sunday night at 5:00 (in the video) you will hear the words –
What about "if i live" again
(ooo, ooo)
Do we give a damn

Listen to it again. It does say What if I'm DEAD AGAIN...

As for Paris' comments: Michael wa ssupposed to appear in the 2009 Grammys, it's well documented. At the last minute he changed his mind and promised he would appear this year. This is most likely because he was about to announce his London O2 concerts, not that he planned to trick everyone into thinking he was dead.

I just can not phathom that people would not only put themselves through spending their time looking for "clues" but they would subject others to their very hurtful comments.

They don't need to have their words dissected by anyone--believers on non beleivers-Just let them be. Whether you believe he is alive or not; important thing is We all love or loved Michael. Can't we just meet at that Common Ground and move on. This arguing back and forth about who is right and who is wrong is really getting old. No matter how much arguing goes on; there will always be two sides. Why can't everyone just move on. We are Michael Jackson Fans above everything else. @lindafromnewyork – I agree just keep it moving....it is nice to see some of the originally bloggers on here from last summer; maybe we can get back to some respectful blogging and ignore the negativity and bs that comes from some of the bloggers. I think alot of it is age difference too...we have younger bloggers here in their 20/30's and then you get the older ones in the 40/50's and you are going to clash with the idealist ideas of the younger generation and how you present yourself when you blog.

doubtingthomas2010   February 1st, 2010 12:51 pm ET

Marguerite-yes this is what we should do. Don't give them ignition.

Cali MJ Fan   February 1st, 2010 12:53 pm ET

Well, then I have a different version straight from the broadcast of the show that is different then what everyone else is listening to.. it CLEARLY SAYS "What if I'm dead again".....

Guess that should be another clue. CBS took the time to broadcast different versions into the homes of those who believe he's dead and another to those who don't?

Ridiculous.

@Baby carrie.... There's no use. I used to enjoy coming here but have spent many of the last months just reading the articles and never commenting, but I just can't understand why people would be so hurtful. And on days like his children coming out in public for the first time speaking to millions, seeing the comments– omg, it just hurts so much to think what the children would think if they ever read the comments.

if you ever want to hang out on a blog that tries to reflect the truth about MJ, and in a positive light, you're more than welcome on my blog and can comment any time. calimjfan.blogspotDOTcom

To show the world how much you've grown,

It was about his appearance, children, his race, etc. And they are alot of people who frequent that site to download these quotes as their avatar, away message etc. So why come here and bicker with someone else who has admiration for him but doesn't agree with you? They could be worst things written about MJ on LKL and we don't see them here. Believe me.

@Marguerite-some got the message. You clearly can see who want to ignite what.

@Shelli-you don't have to prove anything to anyone. Don't give them ammunition .

doubtingthomas2010   February 1st, 2010 1:18 pm ET

@lois48- I see what you are saying, but I'm just ignoring it period regardless of age.

Hi Maria ! 🙂

doubtingthomas2010- Let's just see if we can keep it this way. It is sad that it has come to ignoring people to be able to do this though.

@Marguerite-there is no other way.

Anne   February 1st, 2010 1:22 pm ET

This quote, written in a Fox news story, must have come from Jermaine. It appears there are some negative feelings among the brothers about not being invited to sing in the Earth Song performance instead of the Hudson, Dion, Usher, Robinson and Underwood who performed. I wonder when they will ever realize that this is not about them. It is about Michael. Can't they just put aside thinking about themselves and furthering their own careers for a few minutes and just honor their brother as a separate entity for what he did in his life and who he was? They are grown men in the 50s and almost 60 and yet they act like children who are jealous of the attention their brother is getting and trying to claim if for themselves. And whoever gave this quote doesn't even have the courage to put his name in the article.

“Remember, there was no Michael Jackson without the Jackson Five. It was a missed opportunity not getting them (the brothers) all together for this,” added our insider.

doubtingthomas2010   February 1st, 2010 1:23 pm ET

No need to argue.

Anne...absolutely sounds like Jermaine...Mike WAS the Jackson 5!!!!!!!!

Death is NOT an opinion...it is a fact!!! I will stand for Michael Jackson's legacy and the respect he deserves!! Why do I announce RIP?? Because Mike died June 25, 2009...and his death deserves respect!! Too many people in Mike's life allowed this kind of tabloid freakshow to happen while they stood idly by...and it needs to stop...the lunacy needs to stop!!! Good God...his own children acknowledge their daddy died...and they and Mike deserve respect.

RIP MJ

Doubting Thomas,I am so happy you are here, you really tru so hard to restore the Peace, and it is appreciated.Age should never matter,we are all here because we Love Michael.Someof us are Michaels age.Someof us are not!And someof us may be fat /thin/black /white/ do we care?should we care? This is the great thing about being here ,we are sort of anonymous ,but with one thing in common, our feelings for Michael.Someof us are trying to understand, him better...and there is no doubt somethings are rather mysterious! And if somethings were cut and dry ,I for one would not have been on Susan Etoks blog,or this one.I seek truth .
But when is becomes negative .......Or we differ with an unpleasant tone,wow.........not good!!!!!!So I say lets ,be nice ,and just move forward.Lets leave Michaels family alone,if we cant find something nice to say.Put yourself in his loafers',and be positive.......smile.....thank you all for being here.

Defending Michael's legacy has nothing to do with the constant bickering that goes on here. There is alot of BS that goes on here all in the name of defending Michael's legacy when in reality it has nothing to do with Michael at all.

@Maria- I especially agree with what you said in regards to his family. I love the J5/The Jacksons and the all collectively offered something to the group. MJ branched off, as did the other brothers. He took it further in his solo career, but there are a lot of J5 and The Jacksons hits.

Big Surge for Grammy's Over Jackson

Averages 26.6 million viewers, up 40 percent

The boost is no doubt largely due to the tributes to Jackson, which included a lifetime achievement award, accepted by two of his children, and a 3D video that he'd planned to play at the concert tour he'd been rehearsing for when he died last summer. A number of singers lent vocals to the video last night.

Cali MJ Fan   February 1st, 2010 1:57 pm ET

@ linda February 1st, 2010 1:12 pm ET

Indeed it appears now is the time for change. 🙂 Togther we can make a difference. I think a letter campaign to CNN needs to begin and shared with all of MJ's fansites. It's not that others can't have their own opinion, nor that they can't voice them, rather spreading malicious false lies on a reputable news organization's website and the site allowing it to fester is another.

Make the change.

RIP Michael Jackson
1958 – 2009

I just wanted to say again that the performance was really wonderful last night. Celine Dion is one of my favorite female artists. They all did a beautiful job singing along to Michael's Earth Song.

I just wanted to clarify a little bit more. "What if I dead again" is not the recording lyric either.

I have the cd album booklet and the line Michael wrote is "What about death again"

And Prince and Paris (lil Blanket backstage) all simply represented their dad beautifully. Prince, Paris, and Blanket I would like you to always know that, God is always right there with you. As will as the love and the memories of your dad you 3 carry in your hearts.

doubtingthomas2010   February 1st, 2010 2:01 pm ET

Maria   February 1st, 2010 2:01 pm ET

Anne – thanks for posting about the Fox story. Indeed, the 2 contradicting CNN stories which quote Oxman and Joe Jackson, Randy's angry tweets and now this one makes me think someone from the family is too upset to realize that this award & tribute wasn't a PR opportunity for them.
No, you can't please everyone and no, you can't invite the brothers to perform on the stage or collect the awards at each and every MJ tribute or award ceremony. Jermaine and his kids, LaToya did it already at other awards. If the Grammy organizers' failed to invite the family to attend the ceremony, it's a shame – but it's the organizers' right to choose the performers they want, and the Earth Song with those particular performers was great and a perfectly fitting tribute for the Michael as a solo artist. The unnamed source also complains that Berry Gordy wasn't invited to speak, but who is Smokey Robinson if not a symbol of Motown?

In the spirit of Earth Song and our desire to support things closest to Michael's heart, below are several things everyone can do to reduce pollution, minimize their carbon footprint and do their part to save the environment. I took it from one of the environmental websites but don't have the link. The added perk – it can save you hundreds, perhaps thousands of dollars per year:

Use Compact Fluorescent Bulbs
Which lights in your home do you use the most? Replace them with compact fluorescent bulbs. Three CFBs will save 300 pounds of carbon dioxide and $60 per year.

Inflate Your Tires
Keeping your tires adequately inflated can save you hundreds of dollars per year in fuel and keep 250 lbs. of carbon dioxide out of the air. (Check them monthly)

Change Your Car's Air Filter
Check your car's air filter once a month. You can keep 100 lbs of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.

Fill the Dishwasher
Only run your dishwasher when it's full. That will save on hot water costs and about 100 lbs. of CO2 emission a year.

Use Recycled Paper
Make sure your printer paper is 100% post-consumer recycled paper. That saves 5 lbs. of carbon dioxide per ream of paper

Adjust Your Thermostat
Move your thermostat down by only 2 degrees in the winter and up two degrees in the summer. Those 2 little degrees can save more than $100 and 2000 lbs of carbon dioxide per year.

Change the Air Conditioner Filter
Clean or replace dirty air conditioner filters. It can save 350 lbs. of carbon dioxide and up to $150 per year.

Take Shorter Showers
On average, showers account for 2/3 of all water heating costs. Cutting down shower time can save 350 lbs. of carbon dioxide and $99 per year.

Install a Low-flow Shower Head
Using less water in the shower not only conserves one of the planet's most precious resources, but it also means less energy is used to heat the water, saving more than $100 and 350 lbs. of carbon dioxide per year.

Buy Products Locally
How much fossil fuel is used to get a bottle of water or piece of fruit to you from the other side of the planet? In addition to reducing pollution, you will be supporting your local economy, helping to keep and even increase local jobs.

Buy Minimally Packaged Goods
Less packaging reduces garbage by up to 30%. You can also save 1200 lbs. of carbon dioxide per year.

Carpool When You Can
Carpooling with friends saves fuel, and you have the added perk of having quality time with friends in one car. You can save 790 lbs. of carbon dioxide and hundreds of dollars per year.

Don't let your car idle
Are you guilty of this? Why? Idling wastes money and gas, increases dependency on foreign oil, generates pollution and global warming from emissions. Turn your engine off if you have to wait for more than 30 seconds, except of course when in traffic.

Drive Less
In addition to carpooling, walk, bike, or take mass transit whenever possible. You'll save one pound of CO2 for for EVERY MILE you don't drive

Reduce Garbage, save landfill space
Recycle paper, plastic and glass, and buy products with less packaging. This can save 1,000 lbs of carbon dioxide a year.

Plant a Tree
Trees suck up CO2 and create clean air for us to breathe. A single tree will absorb a ton (that's 2000+ lbs) of CO2 over its lifetime.

Use a Push Mower
Most of us have equal or less lawn than people had 50 years ago when push mowers were the norm. today there are high tech push mowers that make the job easier than before. When you use your muscles instead of fossil fuels, you can save 80 lbs of CO2 per year and getting exercise will improve your health and even increases your immune system.

Unplug Un-used Electronics
Most electronics, like your stereo and phone charger, are turned off, they use energy. If you unplug them, especially when you are away, you can save hundreds a year and over 1,000 lbs of CO2.

Wash your Clothes on the Cold Water Cycle
You'll save energy because the water isn't being heated, and your clothes will last longer.

Air Dry Your Clothes
Your dryer is one of the hungriest appliances in your home. By putting your laundry on the line to dry, you can save 700 lbs.of CO2 / year and depending on the age of your dryer, you can save hundreds in energy costs.

Buy Organic Food
Yes it is more expensive, however, the chemicals used in modern agriculture aren't just bad for your body, they also pollute the water supply and are mostly made of petroleum. Even if you just buy one or 2 organically made items you have made a move to reduce.

Bring your own shopping bags
Many cities now have 'bag by-laws' and this has even become a fashion statement. Many stores provide distinctive re-usable bags so you can be environmentally conscious and still look marvelous. Using your own bag reduces landfill and requires no additional energy to manufacture all those plastic bags.

Turn Off Your Computer
Shut it off when you're not using it and save 200 lbs of CO2. You can conserve additional energy by using your computer's "sleep mode" instead of a screensaver.

Don't buy bottled water
2.5 million individual plastic water bottles are thrown away every HOUR in the US alone! A plastic bottle thrown in a landfill will still be a plastic bottle in 200 years because plastic is not biodegradable! Start using a reusable water bottle and just say no to plastic! Cities treat their water and most actually have lower bacteria counts than one can find in factory bottled water.

Spread the Word
Get out there and tell everyone who will listen how small steps can take to help Mother Earth. A little goes a long way. The power of one becomes the power of many.

Cali MJ Fan

that is what I mean-we should be trying to restore Michael's image from what the media portrayed him as.

Kristy Lynn   February 1st, 2010 2:15 pm ET

I enjoyed the Earth Song tribute to Michael; however, I believe it would have been better if they had just Michael singing his song. The other five people: Jennifer Hudson, Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Usher, and Berry Gordie have excellent voices and are wonderful performers, but Earth Song is a tremendously hard song to sing. I believe only Michael’s voice can ever do it justice. I did have my 3 D glasses and I think watching it on the HD channel really helped with the 3 D affects. The video Michael put together for his concert was beautiful and really helped demonstrate the beauty and meaning of his song. The tribute was very heartfelt and well put together.

Prince Michael and Paris did a fantastic job. It was hard watching Prince become emotional during his speech but how mature was he? Both of them are so mature and lovely to watch. Michael would be so proud; they only proved to the world that Michael did a fantastic job in raising them.

I have read some other reviews about the tribute on other web sites and I completely understand why Michael tried so hard to keep his children out of the spotlight for as long as possible. Other sites and bloggers are being so mean and a lot of their comments are directed at the children. They are children they do not deserve to be criticized so harshly. They are mature, beautiful, thoughtful children who clearly loved their father. Why can’t people leave it at that?
Just another thought; does anyone think the tribute would have been better if Michael’s brothers sang the song with him? I still don’t believe their voices could match that of Michael’s but maybe it would have been good to have more of the family involved. Although I know the family can't be invovled with every tribute. What does everyone think?

doubtingthomas2010   February 1st, 2010 2:16 pm ET

lindafromnewyork-I glad you agree. I don't know what your view is on this but I will converse with you in a respectable matter no matter what it is. In life on and off the PC you don't agree with everyone, but everyone deserves respect. I'm glad you agree 🙂 .

Sheryl   February 1st, 2010 2:19 pm ET

A beautiful tribute. I liked the fact that others sang the song. By adding others we are able to experience the essence of the art even more; the song is about ALL OF US and our connection to each other and to the planet. They were obviously moved to be able to do this for Michael. That moved me.

lindafromnewyork   February 1st, 2010 2:21 pm ET

Kristy Lynn
I would have preferred just hearing Michael sing also without any help. I think you mean Smokey Robinson. I watched on HD also and it was fantastic.

Anne   February 1st, 2010 2:22 pm ET

maryrm- I love Compact Fluorescent Bulbs. Not only is the light whiter and brighter than my regular bulbs it is also much much cooler because it does not give off wasted energy as heat. This is very important to anyone in my age group who sits by a lamp and does not want to get hot!

Kristi Lynn- I have seen the comments you are talking about. They are very cruel. And I do see what you mean about the family members. My sister attended Micheal's 30th anniversary show here in New York. She said the J5 were great and that they were all emotional during their performance. She said during the performance there was a time they were all overwhelmed with the response of the crowd that they all embraced and cried onstage. They are truly a family despite the ups and downs (just like every family) and people should respect that. I would love to see a J5 tribute.

You wrote alot of poems on the Haiti blogs--Is there a way that I can get them from you. They were very beautiful. I want to share them with some people.

777Perfection   February 1st, 2010 2:36 pm ET

@ doubtingthomas2010

Yes you can 🙂
We expect a new snowstorm this week again 😦
We´ve not had this kind of winter in many years,
so we´re not used to it either.
We usually have green winters here.

Kristy Lynn   February 1st, 2010 2:37 pm ET

@lindafromnewyork.....

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way. Thank you, I did mean Smokey Robinson.

@Doubtingthomas2010....

Yes, the other comments and blogs have been very mean. They should leave them alone. How lucky for your sister to have had a chance to see Michael perform live. I wish I had that chance. I bet it was very special seeing all the brothers together. They are family no matter what ups and downs they share. Like any family.

claire   February 1st, 2010 2:40 pm ET

We follow you Michael, we hear you preach
To a place without prejudise you will teach
We are all as one and shouldn't decieve
We are no different, that's what we believe.

Michael, we love you and know for sure
To you we'll never shut the door.

No, we´re not used to have this kind of winter.
We´ve had green winters many years.
Then we´re mad at that instead, everybody
want to have snow on Christmas holidays.
In some parts of the country they´ve had -30C 😦

doubtingthomas2010   February 1st, 2010 2:43 pm ET

lindafromnewyork- At the award show yesterday his children were very humble and accepted his award with grace. That place was filled with many people from all over who probably said negative things about their father. They showed no anger towards anyone. I have learned in life to leave ignorant people like that alone. With some people negativity is all they know. There is nothing wrong with defending MJ, but we don't need to stoop to anyone's level with the negativity. I wrote a letter to DD and all she said to me was "whatever." That was all she said, after years of her nonsense. I didn't even bother responding because people like her aren't worth my time.

Jan   February 1st, 2010 2:43 pm ET

I have only just seen the speech by Prince and Paris Jackson. They are an amazing pair and a credit to MJ. They did a great job! It is nice to know what prince sounds like when he speaks.

It was nice to see the cousins giving them moral support aswell.

Big hugs to them both!

Marym, what a nice helpful post, great ideas to help save this poor planet ,it seems the more 'Advanced we get ,the more behind we get in very important areas!Line drying our clothes is gret way to go where we can,and the smell of clothes dryed naturally ,........what could smell fresher?the only thing I would like to add,is this ,before we purchase the flourescent bulbs PLEASE ,do some research on them, they have been linked to some forms of cancers. And I can tell you I worked under these lights last yr,and we had to turn them off ,in the space where we worked .They gave me tremendous, headaches, and serious 'brain fog',this is how I came to research them! When All of us had the same feelings, while we worked ,I had to know more about them. And page after page of info came up.And in all truth I was told this 20 yrs ago ,by a close friend who had battled cancer ,and won.She went the homeopathic route, and she is alive and very well!!!Anyway ,I just wanted to share this info.Ofcourse the decisions, are our own,smile......But I thank you for caring enough to share these most helpful reminders, ideas to help save this Planet!Love to you ,Maria Copelli.....

They are very talented and very handsome aswell.
These Jacksons are a good looking family. How come some people land up with loads of talents, looks, etc and some of us don't get much of anything.

Good luck to all of them though I say!

lola   February 1st, 2010 2:57 pm ET

The tribute was beautiful. I am so glad they used Michael's voice in Earth Song last night and hope they do the same when they record the 25th anniversary of "We Are The World" . I hope they use Michael's solo track and hear his voice in the chorus. It would be a beautiful reminder of the gifts he has shared with the world. He would be thrilled to know he is still helping children even in death. Also, his voice truly is angelic, and it would enhance the recording tremendously. Perhaps it will give his beautiful children the opportunity to sing along with their dad.

babycarie   February 1st, 2010 2:57 pm ET

Cali
You are so right...the twisting of facts and creating 'clues' to support more lies...and to state that Michael Jackson is a liar...enough!!

I am not here to keep peace at Mike's expense, to kiss ass and to beg for bad poetry from the catalyst to most of the trouble/hate on these blogs. So know that until the lies and disrespect stop, I will stand for Mike....I am not 'causing trouble'...I am standing up for MIke...those who want to have lollipos and flowers, float on by.

And as far as 'opinions' go, Mike is dead...death is a fact, not an opinion...and that is TRUTH!!!

How anyone who knows Mike is dead could allow the hoax lies and disrespect to continue speaks to how Mike was treated during his lifetime...turn a blinds eye and hope it doesn't affect you!! Keep your peace at his expense!!

This blog and all MJ blogs should speak the TRUTH!! Not lies, hoax garbage, and bubble baths, or be used as chat rooms!!! I could care less what anyone here 'believes'...these blogs speak for Mike...and the need to speak the TRUTH!!! Not twisted statements, hoax garbage, clues, laughing memorial services, fake caskets, etc.

And for those who are concerned w/what is on these blogs, are you serious??!! You worry wbout me taking a stand for Mike but not for all the lieas Mike is supposedly upholding??!! So, Mike can be called a liar, but that's okay?? Enough!!!

Mike was about love...so show it to him. Stop the bs and hoax stuff and telling the world on these blogs that Michael Jackson is a liar!!!

RIP Mike
1958-2009
Respect for MJ.

@babycarie

I don't understand how one could see continuing information such as a hoax representing it as truth as loving. There's a huge difference between standing for truth and negativity. Disagreeing and standing for facts, is not negativity.

One wonders what it will take for CNN to stop feeding this hoax theory by allowing the comments by way of giving them a very public platform to continue it on. Having their own site and making the comments there is one thing (and heavens knows, I tried giving them a chatroom of their own elsewhere to keep it from here months ago). Definitely will be thinking on this and looking for a way to shut it down. Enough is Enough – I totally agree. The man is Dead. Period.

RIP Michael Jackson

Wonderful! Just wish it had lasted a little longer and showed more 3D.
I had 3Dglasses and when the little girl blew on the dandelion it looked like it was going to land in my lap.
Seeing what is currently thought of as great performances makes me realize even more how great Michael was/is. Some of them have talent but overall, it just ain't the same.
I read that the show had the highest audience in 6 years. I wonder how much of that was due to his award. That was the only reason I had it on.
Oh, and it was great to see those children...he raised them right and they love him so much.

Oh my God...I cried when I watched this ... the whole body shivers ... is such a wonderful feeling ... I realized that in my heart is one such place, which is intended only for Michael. I realized that I can not live without him and his songs. Paris is beautiful! Prince is very handsome and has a male voice. Sweet Blanket. 🙂 I regret that I probably did not know this nor Michael nor Paris nor Prince nor Blanket ..: (

But most importantly, to keep the faith, because Michael lives and we have to endure the tension before the big return.

Dreams come true ..

Hey, Neighbor Maria! 😀

Hope you are having a great day! I was amazed at the tribute performance last night! It was so emotionally stirring! Celine and Carrie are two of my faves, and they sang beautifully as always! A great choice of performers...appealing to both young and old with different musical tastes. Pop, rock, R&B, and country all merging together to honor "The Man"! 😉 And the children are beautiful and wise beyond their years! Prince spoke so eloquently. So much L.O.V.E. in that family!

Be back later!

Luv,

Hello All–Michaels childrens speech were beautiful, it was about there father, in which they have always known the human side of the Entertainer. Can any of u say that with confidence they we at anytime in our life that we gave a speech, that we wouldn't forget a line or be nervous about it. I can say I never have but, in highschool to read a book report and how one stumbles and falls. High 5 to Michaels

Just wanted to say I thought the tribute was great for getting Michael's message out and it was very touching coming from the children themselves. Dileo's comments on Saturday about Mike's sense of humor, the Lifetime Achievement being honored with only the Earth Song spreading Michael's message and certainly not a grand send-off fit for a king, combined with not being included in the memorium list are things that kind of make you go uhmmmm....

We love you, Mike! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 And YES, we will be there!

Let the SHOW continue! 🙂 🙂 🙂

@All,
I can't get those kids out of my mind, they were so brave to go up there and talk. I think MJ did a fantastic job of raising them, they are a wonderful extension of him.
They are just beautiful and I know they there are in the best of hands.
My comment on MJ being alive was always 1% in the back of my mind, how I would love that to be true.If he were here IMO Paris would of never have had her hair cut,it made her look so much older, and I believe MJ would not of wanted that at all. And if he were alive he would of NEVER let those children go up on stage in front of millions of people to see ever... he spent his whole life keeping them away from the public. My 1% is gone. RIP ~MIchael~

@Judie – sorry, but that's really ridiculous "if he were here IMO Paris would of never have had her hair cut," .
Wake up girl! Paris is a 12 y.o (v.soon) and she has her own personality! If she felt she wanted a hair cut, she got a hair cut! She is almost a teenager, it is very normal that girls want to experiment with new looks at that age! I remember I did not want to have a hair cut when I was her age, and no matter what my parents wanted, I DID NOT have that hair cut, period! So she wanted one, and got it! And the new look fits her very well too, good taste little Paris! Love 2 U!

Bed time I think, everyone finally needs to catch some sleep after the long Grammy's evening/night 🙂

Love 2 all!

An excerpt from an article on Michael posted at the wrap dot com.

1986 - Tabloids run a story asserting that Jackson sleeps in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber to slow his aging, but it turns out that Jackson leaked the false story. This was the first of many occasions in which Jackson leaked a fake story about himself.

IMO the fact that he personally leaked false stories about himself that he KNEW his fans would read, well, shows that he is human just like the rest of us, even though he is about truth, he chose to tell untruths aka lies.

Hello everyone.....
My 3D glasses worked! It was great fun. I enjoyed the tribute.

I see the time of peaceful bloggy discussion has ended and the bickering has errupted again. So sad....yesterday was such a beautiful tribute. And in less than a day we have returned to the bickering and mocking.

And Larry isnt going to do anything to change the bloggies. He has had 7 months to do so. It hasn't happend yet. The likelihood of anything happening now to change the blogs is slim, in my humble opinion, of course.

Hopefully one day answers will come.

@JUDIE-

Judie, I support your post. There have been many changes with the Michael's children over the past seven months. I think the children also would have benefited from a larger support system on stage; I think it would have been the ultimate family tribute, in the ultimate musical award venue to have every single family member up on stage to accept Michael's LAA. His parents, his siblings, and his children. I'm not so sure either Michael would approve of his children taking a solo spotlight so quickly. I am happy and grateful that they did; but it is a double edged sword. I hope that it certainly benefits their memory of Michael more than ours. Paris and P. Michael both cut their hair. I hope they don't cut Blanket's. I don't think it is "ridiculous" Judie that you mentioned these concerns (as someone else suggested it was ridiculous). You see that it is more than "just a hair cut"... I understand.

IHMJ xoxo

You are very correct, you never know who you may be addressing on this blog. However, the Golden Rule should always be applied in life, not just limited to the world we live in outside the internet. I really think Marlon Jackson has put it very simple, yet very effective, "Study Peace".

Hello everyone. I have not, repeat not been on today until now. Please respect the children and their comments from last night, The Man in the Mirror's voice was not live it was of course pre-recorded...Michael is dead...the words were and always clearly have been "what about death again" which always were confused I must admit by many as "live again" because of the slight stylizing of the word "death" as "dith". Whoever the imposter is, know that Michael is dead....Love you all.

I was thinking the same thing but we dont know what goes on in their lives, only what they want us to know.

@Lori,the fighting will stop when the arrest has been made, and the mockery of MJ's life and legacy end. It's a shame that all his life he fought this kind of stuff, only to have it happen again even in death.

Judie   February 1st, 2010 6:20 pm ET

@Lori,
Sorry but I disagree, there was never any fighting on these blogs in July,August and part of Sept.,untill the death hoax sites shut down,we were all here talking about the man we admired and shared our stories of how painful it was to most of us to lose him. It's not like that anymore you have to defend every post and to accept everyones opinions, even though his death is not an opinion it's a fact. I am sorry but I will not sell him out for my 2 seconds of fame to say his death was a hoax.

silvercircle   February 1st, 2010 6:21 pm ET

It´s from Casablanca, Humphrey Bogart & Ingrid Bergman.
The full citat is :
"Play it, Sam. Play 'As Time Goes By' for old time's sake".
"You played it for her, you can play it for me! ... If she can stand it, I can! Play it!"
But I think there´s another version too, a earlier version, not quite sure though.

I WISH THAT MICHAEL IS STILL HERE TO SEE WHAT A GOOD JOB HE HAS DONE WITH HIS CHILDREN.

Our nature is fading,

the song that he sings,

Truthfully everyones comments on his Children is very respective to MJ the Father, I have always said he should of got an award for being a great father. Lynn-IL   February 1st, 2010 7:43 pm ET

To those who want to storm CNN with letters about this blog just remember back to July of last year. The first blog that really contained posts about the possibility of a staging was not shut down by CNN. Instead the editor put a bold red note above the blog to let readers know that this blog had some interesting discussions worth looking at; it actually brought attention to the subject. For the last 7 months we have had consistent blogs to post on here even if there was no new news on the case or Michael himself; so I highly doubt CNN is going to pull these bogs now.

Also, alot of time is spent calling names and trying to detirmine who is a real fan but not much is made about what we are doing with the message Michael has championed throughout his entire career. How can anyone say they love him and respect him and then act in a way that spits in the face of everything he holds dear? The great thing about Michael is that he weathered the hate and the ignorance that the world through at him and rose above it for the sake of his message of LOVE. Why the heck can't we do the same? Respect his legacy by not just hearing what he said but by doing it.

yes, I had forgotten that controversy about fluorescent bulbs. They say that the double compact, the ones that have the outer shell that make it look more like a regular bulb, do not have significant UV emissions like some of the older fluorescents which is the cancer connection.

There is also a small amount of mercury in all fluorescent bulbs so one has to weigh the pros and cons of energy savings with using a product with a toxic substance. I use both incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs in my home, most are CFBs. If the CFBs do burn out everyone should dispose of them the way they do other hazardous waste, not just in the garbage. My local transfer station offers hazardous materials disposal.

Being green can involve difficult choices and sometimes there are no clear answers. But most of the time you increase your health and save dollars as well as save the planet, so it is a win-win situation 🙂

Michael Jackson died June 25, 2009.
RIP Mikey.

Diane in Minneapolis   February 1st, 2010 8:26 pm ET

Jane Valez Mitchell just had an MJ topic on her HLN show. First about the charges against Murray and then about the kids accepting the award.

She had Firpo on there and he said he didn't see the awards acceptance because "there are differeing opinions within the family as to whether the kids should be un-veiled and exposed to the public. I chose NOT to watch it because MJ would not have wanted his kids on stage in front of the world. I have been with Michael with his kids and he was VERY protective and I can tell you he would not have wanted that."

That is what Firpo Carr said so you can draw your own conclusions.

Diane in Minneapolis   February 1st, 2010 8:32 pm ET

OMG – did you see how handsome your man Tito's kids looked last night? Go back and look at them on the video. When Prince got a little stuck in his speech the camera showed TJ3 for just a second and they were so watchful and ready to support. Such a good looking family.

Jodi Gomes tweet from today

# Thx MJ & J5 for giving us a license to dream! Hope I never wake from this one!! @alljack5ons @mjjnews #mjfam @taj @simonesmalls about 19 hours ago from TweetDeck

A LICENSE to dream = entertainment contracts, confidentiality contracts, performance art legislation, performing art licenses.

Michael's death is a "dream" and we are living in a real-life alternate reality event. The result will be "change" which we should never "wake-up" from. Michael is an artistic genius!

We love you, Mike! 🙂 🙂 🙂 Let the SHOW continue!

Kenny Ortega tweet yesterday before the Grammys aired

# It's snowing in Park City So beautiful I'm in a trance I saw a brilliant Doc last night titled CATFISH So original, filled with surprises 11:49 AM Jan 31st from web

The documentary "CATFISH" is a documentary that is a "real-life" movie with many twists and turns that results in the viewer thinking they are living in the reality of a hoax, yet at the same time the characters involved are revealing the truth within the hoax.

Just coincidence that Kenny Ortega posted this? Not a chance.

We love you, Mike! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Regarding your comment at 7:43 p.m. I had noticed that, too. CNN did indeed red flag it to bring attention to it. There is another blog in October that contains a lot of Michael Jackson imposters which CNN also highlighted with a special note saying "Don't miss this interesting discussion." They intentionally are drawing attention to it on this site so they certainly are in support of it for whatever reason. I personally think they are in on it and have my reasons for thinking so.

Michael...looks as though I've missed you. Here's some more quotes for you and some quotes for your children. They made me think of all four of you and I love you all. 🙂

Angelou, Maya

"A child can ask questions that a wise man cannot answer."

About CNN supporting the "staging" of the death comments by the beLIEvers, I find it odd that although CNN is always quick to delete most external links and videos, none of the links that were posted on the previous blog by isitscary4u showing the reality of the photos were deleted. Also, in the newest blog, they have combined the Michael Jackson blog with two other topics. I think it is evident they are "widening" the audience for the topic of Michael Jackson staging his death and his performance art. 😉

I love you, Michael Jackson! 🙂 🙂 🙂

MichaelJacksonIsPerfection   February 1st, 2010 11:29 pm ET

If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. Michael did everything right and he did it perfectly himself. No one will ever be able to perform a Michael song as well as Michael. I give them credit for trying, because the message is what Michael knew to be the most important. I miss Michael desperately and there is a void on earth, and in my heart, the size of the solar system without him here. Michael left us with his best and I am playing his music and showing his work to everyone who I possibly can. I will spend the rest of my life sharing Michael's message with the world, in every moment and every opportunity. We can all do this. Michael's legacy is carved in history. Praising and loving Michael is my highest honor and I strive to make Michael proud. Michael's messages live on through us. Heal The World!

Tom Joyce   February 1st, 2010 11:50 pm ET

I'm glad they picked Earth Song but I wish more of the focus had been on the film not on Jackson's pictures and not on the live performers – I think that's what Jackson himself would have wanted. He was passionate about the planet.

babycarie   February 1st, 2010 11:53 pm ET

Tom
Agreed...he worked hard on that short film and would have wanted it to be viewed without the interferences.

elly   February 2nd, 2010 12:24 am ET

now that I think about it, I think they totally murdered the song last night. they should have just played it with michael's voice and nobody should have stood infront of the screen. they way michael wanted it.

Hi! The news of Michael not being in the memoriam is spreading like wildfire! Viewer ratings according to Nielsen for the Grammys, 25.8 million! Word is getting out. When checking the Grammys website, they had posted this article "11 reasons to watch the Grammys" and they mention the "in memoriam" segment in the 11 reasons to watch. They were purposefully bringing attention to it. Reason #8.

Wild At The GRAMMYs: 11 Reasons To Watch
January 28, 2010 – 2:52pm

8) Because there will be an in memoriam segment during the show, and unless things go very badly for any of us this weekend, we probably won't be in it. 😉

@Hello All–Beautiful peaceful blogging. Hey, someone impostered my name on new blog so I added and intitial. When I left early, I was thinking of Mr. Rogers oh how it is beautiful in the neighborhood, well check him out on wiki under Fred Rogers. Interesting read. Also, check out Opus there. Did anyone notice the credits after the Grammys went to fast, but I thought I noticed KO and KErhlich names.
@Helen–interesting adventure I noticed the same thing, Also I didn't notice Avenge 7 Fold Rev Jimmy, or Brittany Murphy's names after all the were singers to.
@Maura–Hello to you, as always I love your quotes.

@Helen & Dazzle

You both simply rock! Helen thanks for your comments, I agree with you, and Dazzle, that's simply amazing. Michael was near his children. Loved his latest disguise. So far he's been blond lady, Dave Dave, possibly fedora man at the funeral, and now older man. Michael must have felt so proud of his children. I'm so happy he could be there to see them personally accept his award. Go Michael!!!!

Heart of an angel, mind of a genius!!!!

Judy Bailey   February 2nd, 2010 2:03 am ET

The children were magnificent on stage! However, why are they so different from any other celebrity's children? Why should they be expected to make more public appearances? I think whatever the children and the family is comfortable with, should be what happens. Michael I think tried to shield them from all the cameras for a good reason and should that be his wish, it should be respected.

Lynn-IL   February 2nd, 2010 2:34 am ET

Dazzle- Thanks for your post at 1:08 about the TII dancers performing with Beyonce. I asked last night if anyone else thought that that was them or if I was going crazy but no one responded (no shock there=) When they all came out I was really hoping she was going to do something with TDRCAU or maybe the "halo" tribute that she had been doing on tour. Her set was great though.

I know you were asking helen but I did read an article in Rolling Stone where Beyonce said she was covering "you oughta know" for her sasha fierce tour last year. It was in her show in Chicago. Hope that helps!

@Lynn-IL-great post.

To all concerned, ignore the negative ones. Let them write whatever they want, they try to make condescending remarks towards others here itching for a response but don't give them one. There other negative opinions of MJ out there, and no of us here express those views. Don't waste your time on misery.

Let's Keep The Peace 🙂

Thanks for the above vd! Great sense of humour here (yummy, another bone!) lol. I just cant beLIEve that our Man in the Mirror could possibly be dead. BTW Michael's three kids certainly do him proud. They obviously have a role model of a daddy! Be well and enjoy the L.O.V.E.

Lynn-IL   February 2nd, 2010 3:56 am ET

@Everyone
I had this idea, don't know if anyone cares to participate but here it is.

With the month of February focusing on love (thanks to V-day) I was wondering if anyone would want to do a L.O.V.E. project here on the LKL blog. I was thinking that each day for the entire month we could post ways that we are carrying out Michael's message of love in our corners of the world. Posts can be about anything from a random act of kindness that you do for someone to an advocacy role that you are undertaking to help make this world a better place. I think this could really be something that could be exciting and could open our minds an hearts to new ways that we can live out Michael's message of love where ever we are. Just a quick note when you think of it could make a big difference!! Let me know what you think?!

Earth Song.

What about sunrise
What about rain
What about all the things
That you said we were to gain...
What about killing fields
Is there a time
What about all the things
That you said was yours and mine...
Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we've shed before
Did you ever stop to notice
This crying Earth its weeping shores?

Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh
Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh

What have we done to the world?
Look what we've done.
What about all the peace,
That you pledge your only son?
What about flowering fields?
Is there a time?
What about all the dreams,
That you said was yours and mine?

Did you ever stop to notice,
All the children dead from war?
Did you ever stop to notice,
This crying Earth its weeping shores?

Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh
Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh

I used to dream
I used to glance beyond the stars
Now I don't know where we are
Although I know we've drifted far

Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh
Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh
Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh
Aaaaaaaaah Oooooooooh

Hey

what about yesterday
(What about us)
What about the seas
(What about us)
The heavens are falling down
(What about us)
I can't even breathe
(What about us)
What about everything
(What about us)
I given you
(What about us)
What about nature's worth
(ooo, ooo)
It's our planet's womb
(What about us)
What about animals
(What about it)
We've turned kingdoms to dust
(What about us)
What about elephants
(What about us)
Have we lost their trust
(What about us)
What about crying whales
(What about us)
We're ravaging the seas
(What about us)
What about forest trails
(ooo, ooo)
Burnt despite our pleas
(What about us)
What about the holy land
(What about it)
Torn apart by creed
(What about us)
What about the common man
(What about us)
Can't we set him free
(What about us)
What about children dying
(What about us)
Can't you hear them cry
(What about us)
Where did we go wrong
(ooo, ooo)
Someone tell me why
(What about us)
What about baby boy
(What about it)
What about the days
(What about us)
What about all their joy
(What about us)
What about the man
(What about us)
What about the crying man
(What about us)
What about Abraham
(What was us)
What about death again
(ooo, ooo)
Do we give a damn

Aaaaaaaaah Ooooooooh

His death deserves respect...as his life did. His children need to know we are respecting his death and will carry on his legacy of love and of helping to clean up this planet of ours. THAT is he message!!!

Emmy from Belgium,Good morning, and thank you for all the words to Earth Song,I feel no one can sing this song the way ,Michael sings it.His emotions ,clearly felt ,and as I write to you my own emotions ,overwhelm me time and time again.I love this earth ,and I love all the creatures ,great and small.I love the outright emotion an elephant clearly displays, happy or grieving they are very smart sensitive animlas, who have lost their trust ,toward humans. This part of the song ,really makes me sorry for the wways they have been treated, not enough land for them to graze ,at times causes abattle for life between land owners.Yet all are part of this eco system.Circuses are not the answer for these wild animals either,at least this is my opinion.Anyway I do look forward to a time when ALL creation will be at peace,as foretold.'Man and beast living in peace cause no harm to each other ,food will be there all will share ,in what our God ,provides.Sing out with joy of heart ,you too can have apart.Live for the day when you'll say 'LIFE WITHOUT END AT LAST'.These are words taken from the Songbook,we use at the Kingdom Halls, worldwide. This song is one of my favorites, and it is entitled 'Life Without End At Last'.

Thank you for the words to Michaels song !Love to you today ....Maria C

Gatekeeper was Matt's word, not Mottola's. He was asked to be on the program regarding past recordings of Michael that did not make the cut on previous albums recorded under Sony's label. Mottola simply explains that those songs previously recorded that did not make the cut are the property of Sony as we all know from common sense and that Sony and Michael would both share in the profits. Nothing new here. No surprises here.

dnj4mj   February 2nd, 2010 1:45 pm ET

'Tommy Mottola WHO DESCRIBES HIMSELF as the gatekeeper of Jacksons catalogue!!!!!!!!!!!!

DN – Contracts are contracts. Facts are facts. Can't change them. There is no denying that the rights belong to Sony because they were recorded under Sony's contract and label. No news here. No surprises here. Gatekeeper of catalogue were Matt's words, not Mottola's. He was sitting right there on screen and I did not hear him say those words. Matt said those words. Your eyes don't lie – the media does. I would never be and have never been disrespectful to MJ or the kids.

Anastacia   February 2nd, 2010 2:14 pm ET

@*Michael... L.O.V.E.*
Michael, at you WONDERFUL CHILDREN:-) And it is not surprising – as they have the MAGNIFICENT FATHER! You know, I thought about Katherine Jackson, of how at it it is a lot of kindness much, patience and love in heart to bring up many children, and then to bring up and grandsons, to follow them and to be to true principles up to the end. I am assured, this chain of kindness and love of you and Katherine continue Prince, Paris and Blanket!!! Let God protects you and your family. I wish YOU good luck in all ! Sincerely, Anastacia

dnj4mj   February 2nd, 2010 2:45 pm ET

Matt said Tommy Mottola DESCRIBES HIMSELF as the gatekeeper, Mottola smiled at this, but he describes himself as the gatekeeper, NOT Matt describes him, Motolla DESCRIBES HIMSELF... while he is sat there, Matt only SAID WHAT TOMMY DESCRIBES HIMSELF AS...

Gee there are real loons here... im not even pertaining anything to MJs/Sony deal...I know all about MJ/Sony.... Tommy Mottola left Sony in 2003 he works for Universal, what the hell has he to do with DESCRIBING HIMSELF AS GATEKEEPER TO MJS SONGS??... He does not mean the Sony/ATV cat but MJs cat...
HE DOES NOT OWN SONY... so why does he describe himself as this.. if you cant see what i mean then shut up instead of being patronising and mentioning MJs/Sony deal,... I dont need a loon to tell me.

Thank god im out... and yes you do disrespect MJ and his children non stop all day.. because your a loon!!!

Thanks for you kind words! I don't think either the fight will end. Even if Murray will end up in prison, there will be enough people to say that all is staged.

It was a metaphor. Easy as ABC.
Haven't you ever seen contexts like "a license to kill" or "a license to steal", where "license" is used figuratively?

helen – February 1st, 2010 8:57 pm ET
This is really ridiculous. "Catfish" was easily one of the highlights of the Sundance festival. It's only natural that Ortega, among so many others who saw it, was so impressed.

How about assuming that the other bloggers are at work or enjoying their spare time offline or elsewhere on the net? It may be hard to believe, but some people have a life beyond the LKL blogs.

Swallowing other people's ideas without chewing them can be dangerous for the health. Didn't anyone tell you yet to check out the We Are the World performance, to see MJ disguised as Taj or Celine Dion? No?

Hi Cindee,
Unfortunately I don't have an answer to anything that has happened since June 25th 2009 when life as I knew it changed forever, as it has for people worldwide. I'm sure there is a fool out there willing to support Murray and fund him. That is so dangerous and scary. Someone out there simply has the money. Money. Money. Money. Nothing makes any sense to us, reasonable people, living in this unreasonable world without Michael. For many months now I have had great feelings of dread and anxiety regarding the inevitable murray charges. I expect prosecution to the fullest extent of the law, and the creation of new laws beyond that would not be unreasonable in my view. Just now cnn says "we are still waiting for Murray to turn himself in and prosecuters are expected to charge him with involuntary manslaughter." This is an outrage. I believe this means someone screwed up somewhere investigating therefore the weaker charges. Once again I feel that kicked in the gut feeling and outraged by the unfairness of it all. There will never be justice for me as long as Michael is gone from earth. Never. I pray for justice for Michael and I pray for all of us, for acceptance of whatever comes.

Michael's children were wonderful and I'm so pleased that he finally received the Lifetime Achievement Award. However, one thing bothers me. Why wasn't Michael Jackson listed at the end of the program along with others who have passed? Michael fans are already split...some believing that he's still alive and others believing that he is dead.

Awesome song and video that 'EARTH SONG".

Apocalyptic and Prophetic.

Gives you chills. Like the end of the world.

Bravo Michael!
