LKL Blog Exclusive: Download to donate for Haiti

Posted: 08:37 PM ET

By Mike Shinoda, Linkin Park

One week ago today, millions of lives in Haiti changed forever. On January 12, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the island nation. Hundreds of thousands are feared dead, many of whom are children. Just thinking about the millions more people who are in need of medical attention, shelter, clothes and food just to make it through the days ahead is overwhelming, I cannot imagine. It will take years to rebuild homes and communities in Haiti and I, and my band mates in Linkin Park, are deeply saddened by the situation. We want to help the people of Haiti and we need your help.

Working with our a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization “Music for Relief”, an incredible lineup of artists have come together and generously donated previously unreleased songs to support the Haiti relief effort. Artists include: Alanis Morissette, The All-American Rejects, Dave Matthews Band, Enrique Iglesias, Hoobastank, Kenna, Linkin Park, Lupe Fiasco, Peter Gabriel and Slash

You can join these artists in support of the immediate relief and long-term recovery process in Haiti by downloading the songs at www.musicforrelief.org and making a donation in any amount. Donate what you choose to help Haiti.

One hundred percent of funds raised through the program will support the United Nation’s rapid disaster response efforts through the UN Foundation, long-term rebuilding of sustainable homes with Habitat for Humanity, and Dave Matthew’s Band’s BAMA Works Haitian Relief effort.

DOWNLOAD. LISTEN. DONATE. SPREAD THE WORD. BRING HOPE.

Note: Mike Shinoda will be a guest tonight on Larry King Live at 9ET/6PT.

Larry,
Please get this to AC about his question on-air on where to take the woman rescued for Emergency care.

Anderson Cooper,
I really don’t care if this goes on air, that is not why I am sending this.
Please, the people working the e-mail: This is an Answer to AC's on-air Question on where to take the woman rescued.
Tell him the Russians have a Hospital set up with operating rooms to include anesthesia at the Police Academy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti – just ask a local how to get there.

I realize it's early, but why are you already starting your liberal excuse-making rhetoric Coakley didn't run a good campaign, she slacked off over Christmas–why can't you just admit that the people in MA, indeed, the entire US, had had their fill of the Dems and their power-grabbing total disregard for the will of the people they claim to represent. this isn't Kennedy's seat–it belongs to the people of MA. and, apparently, they don't care for the current political stance of the Democrats. Tell Pelosi to shut up about achieving their goal of healthcare "DE-form" and maybe she and Reid and their cohorts need to read the hand-writing on the wall. We are sick of the Dems' pandering to the non-producers in our society just to assure their own cushy life-styles and entitlement programs at our expense. why are you SO SURE that the non-achievers are entitled to the financial support of people who do work for a living and resent having to carry
lazy, uneducated, low-achievers who voted D in the last election?A woman in front of us didn't even know why there were 3 names as candidates for President, and had no idea what a Libertarian was. We need to extend voting criteria beyond having a pulse. This absurdity must end, as well as your unconditional support of it.

A PRAYER FOR HIATI

Lord, I just want to say THANK YOU, because this morning I woke up and knew where my children were. Because this morning my home was still standing, because this morning I am not crying because my husband, my child, my brother or sister needs to be buried out from underneath a pile of concrete, because this morning I was able to drink a glass of water, because this morning I was able to turn on the light, because this morning I was able to take a shower, because this morning I was not planning a funeral, but most of all I thank you this morning because I still have life and a voice to cry out for the people of Haiti . Lord I cry out to you, the one that makes the impossible, possible, the one that turns darkness in to light, I cry out that you give those mothers strength, that you give them peace that surpasses all understanding, that you may open the streets so that help can come, that you may provide doctors, nurses, food, water, and all that they need in a blink of an eye. For all those that have lost family members, give them peace, give them hope, give them courage to continue to go on! Protect the children and shield them with your power. I pray all this in the name of Jesus. To all my friends please continue to forward this so that we can pray together for the people in Haiti . Thank you Father, for your daily blessings.

Letta – that prayer is beautiful, thank you for letting me read it and in doing so, adding to my prayers for the Haitian people. May our prayers and good works to help these people move swiftly.

Dr and Mrs Katannya Patterson   January 20th, 2010 11:06 pm ET

Dear Larry,
I want to organize help for those poor destitute people from the Nursing Home in Haiti. I need some direction. I need to know how I could get them money and or supplies directly. I can and will raise money specifically for that Nursing Home. I am involved in the Medical Field. My husband is a Dr and I have many friends who would help me with this. I was an administrator and Exec Director for an Assisted Living organization. I want to help them get what they need for supplies and ongoing help. What can you tell me ; how can I get some kind of direct conection to them so that the money and supplies they need will get directly to them. I intend to raise an initial $1000.00 and would like your help to find out more.
Thank you Larry
Katannya Patterson
Someone can reach me easily.
Let me help.

I just want to know at least one thing that the Republicans have done in the last 50 years to help the average american person? It is obvious to me that the only people Republicans want to help are big business and to pander to the religious right. As far as I am concerned, Republicans are the 'do nothing, complain about everything' party. We should put them all in a box and ship them to Haiti.

I do not know how to thank you specially CNN, for a wondeful job about my beloved Haiti during this terrible earthquake. But I would like for all of you to start doing some investigations about the helps that this corrupt government are receiving. My brother just told me that everything in haiti is for sell. These poor people have to buy :Tents for 750.00
Rice : 100, Water: 25 Haitian money.
These people are not working, they do not have nobody to help them now those crooked politicians are making money on their behalf.
That's a shame
Please, investigate about that b/c you, guys, are the voice of the voiceless.
May God Bless You
