'I made it 30 days without eating meat'

Livestock at Nature's Harmony farm in Elberton, Georgia, is grass-fed and raised with no hormones or antibiotics. I did it. I made it 30 days without eating meat, no seafood, either. A lot of you out there didn't think I could do it. In the beginning, I wasn't sure if I could do it.

Now it's over and, after today, I can start writing about something other than my intimate relationship with vegetables. This navel gazing has gotten old, even for me, who has spent my entire writing career navel gazing.Unfortunately, the navel that I am gazing into today is a little deeper than the one I was gazing into 30 days ago. I didn't lose weight. I actually gained one pound as a vegetarian.

Unfortunately, the navel that I am gazing into today is a little deeper than the one I was gazing into 30 days ago. I didn't lose weight. I actually gained one pound as a vegetarian. Many have written and asked about my re-entry into the carnivorous lifestyle. I heeded the advice of many of you who suggested I do it slowly. Though I probably didn't do it as slowly as I should have.

I did that back in May,2009 for 30 days. I felt so much better without the meat and just fresh organic vegetables & fruits. I found your thinking is so much better and you feel better. ...Now I eat less meat and more vegetables and fruit.

I think the key is trying to make less meat a lifestyle. But I bet it feels amazing to nosedive and binge on nothing but healthy food for a month. Legumes like chicpeas and beans can be a real savior. Im pretty surprised you didn't lose weight. I lost weight after being a vegetarian for a few years, not that I needed to. At the time soy-meats were a staple to my diet and that gave me terrible acne. I have yet to return to vegetarianism without that crutch. But, the first time eating meat after 5 years, it was really disgusting. You can really taste the gamey-ness that we've become otherwise immune to. Just talking about it reminds me how much I should go back.

I have not eaten any form of meat in 33 years – and I am extremely healthy!
I KNOW that the reason I am healthy due to the fact I cut meat out of my diet. I do not eat red meat/fish/chicken etc...
I do eat eggs and dairy products.
I do take a multi vitamin daily.
I do not supplement my protein with soy/lentils/tofu etc... I just eat a vegetarian diet and that works for me! Every body works differently, and mine thrives on NO Meat!
It may not be for every body.... however I do believe that I am much healthier without it. I do not believe my body was able to digest flesh.
