'Dancing With the Stars' to Honor Swayze

patrickswayzeDancing with the Stars will honor Patrick Swayze on its Sept. 23 live results show, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.

“We have some very fond memories of [the late actor] coming to help us our when we were a tiny little show way back when,” Dancing’s executive producer Conrad Green says.

Swayze, who died of pancreatic cancer on Monday at the age of 57, made a guest appearance on Dancing’s inaugural U.S. season in 2005, teaching friend and fellow actor John O’Hurley a few dance moves in rehearsal. He also came to the show and supported O’Hurley by attending the season 1 finale.

“He was one of the few people to integrate dance with being an A-list actor,” Green says. “He inspired many people and many of our pros to dance. We want to honor the great moments he’s brought to film by getting our dancers to do their interpretation to some music from his films.”

Patrick Swayze will be missed here in Europe, too.
My heart goes out to his beloved wife, Lisa.

Mr. King:

I was very happy to see that you took the time to honor a real hero, Patrick Swayze whose courage in the face of such a devastating illness, pancreatic cancer, was truly inspiring. Our condolences to his family.

It was however troubling to hear Gary Bussey opine that the drug companies are conspiring to withhold life saving cancer drugs from those suffering from cancer. You were very gracious in your deflection of such a profoundly paranoid and delusional comment. The tendency of celebrities with no understanding or background in biology , science or medicine to spew such unmitigated fantasy is a great diservice to the public. These people have access to the airways simply because they are entertainers, not becuase of any insight or expertise in medicine.

To support and pray for cures for various malignant diseases is a most worthwhile and noble pursiut. But the public and the media need to understand that "cancer" represents several hundred disease entities that have in common the potential to spread by metastases. The causes and natural histories of this diverse group of diseases known as cancers is extremely varied and complex. These are illnesses that arise as a result of some bichemical mistake. To even determine how any of these disease originates usually requires the resources and talents of many bio-medical scientists laboring over years. To suggest that the drug companies are withholding cures is at the very least profoundly naive and at the worst a great disservice to patients and their families who are trying to cope with cancer. The good news is that there are a number of cancers which formerly carried death sentences but which are now treatable with intent to cure because of advances in chemotherapy, surgery and radiation therapy. Additionally, the American public needs to consider that the risks of developing many forms of cancers are directly related to life style and social habits. As such many are preventable. Smoking cessation is a great place to start reducing cancer deaths.

i was so sad to hear that Patrick Swayze had passed, but also rejoiced thinking that he no longer suffers, he fought to the very end, i saw the interview with him and BWalters, it broke my heart, i prayed for him and his beautiful wife so they could get through this very tough road ahead of them...my heart goes out to her and his family, but he will be watching over them from now on from a very peaceful place that i am sure he went to...he was a wonderful decent human being, a family oriented man, actor, one of the best..i think most women in the country fell in love with him in Dirty Dancing, although my favorite was Road House....he inspired many the way he dealt with the terrible card given to him at such an early age, i know God has him in the palm of his hand..Patrick Swayze will be remembered never forgotten, bless him, and rest in peace Patrick Swayze.

THE VAST MAJORITY OF REPUBLICANS ARE RACIST.

I AM A DEMOCRAT
But, what is the point in electing more democrats in 2010 if
the devil damn democrats we now have do not have the guts
to pass some kind of health-care bill; and maybe we should be
thinking Clinton for 2012. Just trying is not good enough, Mr. President.

WAKE UP MR. PRESIDENT!

MR. PRESIDENT, IT IS STUPID TO ASK STATES TO PUT UP MONEY
TO GET FEDERAL MONEY. STATES HAVE NO WAY TO GET MONEY
EXCEPT FROM TAXES. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS THE ABILITY TO CREATE MONEY, AND IT SHOULD.

EVERY LITTLE COUNTRY OF THE WORLD HAS THE POWER TO
CREATE MONEY; NOT ONE OF THE FIFTY UNITED STATES HAVE
THE POWER TO CREATE MONEY.

MONEY HAS TO BE CREATED BEFORE ITS EQUIVALENT VALUE
CAN BE PRODUCED. MONEY SHOULD ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE
FOR CREATING GOODS AND SERVICES.

IF PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT HAD LISTENED TO REPUBLICANS, ALL
OF US WOULD BE MARCHING TO THE GERMANY GOOSE STEP.
REPUBLICANS ARE TO BE PITIED, BUT IGNORED.

WHILE THE WORLD WALLOWED IN DEPRESSION, ADOLF HITLER WENT TO GREAT EXTREMES TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE
MONEY SUPPLY; AND THEN CREATED THE MONEY NEEDED TO PUT ALL THE PEOPLE TO WORK PRODUCING GOODS AND SERVICES. MR. PRESIDENT, ARTICLE 1, SECTION 8, OF THE CONSTITUTION GIVES THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ALL THE POWER NEEDED TO PUT ALL THE PEOPLE BACK TO WORK OR
BACK IN SCHOOL. THIS RECESSION IS A PRODUCT OF IGNORANCE.

THE NATIONAL DEBT IS NOT NECESSARY. MONEY SHOULD BE TIED THE VALUE OF THE GOODS AND SERVICES THAT AMERICA'S HANDS AND MIND PRODUCE.

WE NEED TO GET OFF OF A GOLD STANDARD MENTALITY. WE DON'T NEED ANY OF CHINA'S MONEY. WE CAN NOT GO BANKRUPT UNLESS WE LET IGNORANCE RULE. WE CAN NATIONALIZE THE NATIONAL DEBT IF NECESSARY.

"a radical fringe or element" – President Carter
clearly stating that there is just a fraction of racism in this current debate......so it's not race based.

Cindy from Indiana   September 16th, 2009 9:39 pm ET

Larry, I also wonder why they handcuffed this man took him to jail to then rease him. If they had enough to charge him he would be in jail already, after all this is Yale a prestigous Ivey League school. The technician that Pat Brown has referred to as already being guilty. I don't think that she is not a good criminal analyst assuming that the police have all the facts and just havent arrested the primary suspect. Jimmy carte is right he's not lying he's been around here for eighty-five and my grandmother is still here at the age of ninety-eight and knows that there are certain things that we as black people still have to be careful of she lived through the great depression. The speech that Carter is giving and his examples are so correct hown can people deny. Larry Elder is a crock he is a racist and he is is black he is against his own race he is just a white man with black skin wrapped around him he never has anything positve to say about anyone black doing anything. Elder is a sellout. The reason that the young lady thinks that her generation does identify with racisim is because she doesnt't live in the real world. I would like to know how many blacks or minorites she went to school with or even has as friends. You can just listen tio her conservative chatter, she acts like the type that would move if blacks move into her neighborhood, thought she may not be I would bet money she is.

Tim - Atlanta   September 16th, 2009 9:59 pm ET

No–I don't believe racism underlies the opposition to Obama and his administration's policies. I was glad to see that the White House also didn't agree. Jimmy Carter was a failed leader and will say about just about anything to keep his name and face in the media. Who is he to make broad, sweeping generalizations about the people of this country.
