Regardless of his arrogance, and now more than 30 days of unsubstantiated standing ovation, Obama will do a job. And some people will continue kneeling and praying and to the devil.. While others to God and Jesus Christ the Almighty. In other words “Life goes on.”

I was very happy when both sides of the isle signaled that they would debate and discuss issues. But when even after being given what they want, the Republicans say "No, like a little child." I say, "Enough!"

The republicans need to clearly state what they want, with the willingness to compromise. The Republican's should not be cow towing to "experts" who are tooting for President Obama to fail. We as Democrates were condemned, and rightly so, when they were rooting against President Bush. Well, it is now the Republicans turn to suck it in for the sake of our country.

Victoria Denney   February 24th, 2009 5:06 pm ET

As much as I sympathize with the deplorable living conditions in Darfur, George Clooney, taking time to plead for aid for the people of Darfur with Pres Obama and VP Biden seems out-of-touch with the reality of the current ecomony. As one of the millions of unemployed, this is not the time to take care of others outside of the USA. Too many Americans are in pain. Boo to George Clooney

disgusted   February 24th, 2009 8:20 pm ET

I agree. Darfur can wait. Please, someone look at the needs of this country, Mc cain, Clinton, Obama, someone, please understand you live in the USA, WE ARE BROKE, WE HAVE NEEDS, WE NEED HEALTHCARE, WE NEED FOOD
KICK OUT ALL ILLEGALS, FORGET YOUR PRETTY LITTLE PC WAYS, AND RULE THIS GREAT NATION NOW
BRING HOME ALL THE TROOPS NOW, FEED OUR FAMILIES, CLOTHE OUR FAMILIES, KEEP THE MONEY HERE

FORGET SENDING 3 BILLION EVERY YEAR TO ISRAEL
SEND IT TO THE HILLS OF KENTUCKY
WATCH 20/20 DIANE SAWYER 2/13/09
THE CHILDREN ARE STARVING
FEED AMERICA NOW
DARFUR MAY HAVE NEEDS< BUT FIX YOUR OWN HOUSE, THEN FIX THE WORLD
HOW HARD IS THIS TO UNDERSTAND?????????????????
FIX OUR NEEDS NOW, ENOUGH SPEECHES, ENOUGH EXCUSES
WE EARN THE MONEY, KEEP IT IN THE USA NOW
END OF YOUR NEED TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT CRISIS. IF YOU FEED AMERICA, WE WILL FIX OURSELVES
SEND OUR MONEY ABROAD AND YOU STARVE US

SEE HOW EASY IT IS, AND I WAS NOT LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET A FRTEE RIDE TO HARVARD. THIS IS COMMON USA SENSE

Maybe Northern Trust will throw a night golf party for all the lobbists after tonight's speech. Better yet will just being positive from the Fed make the world spin again. Wow, the exec's at Ford taking a cut in pay from 3 to 2 million. Things are right with the world now-better put your investment $$$ to work now or you may miss-what about investing in bonus futures for those at Bof A-better call Santelli on that. This is the bottom guys-best put what cash you have left in your 101k into Citi and AIG. Oh I forgot, they are being nationalized. Well its T Boone time somewhere-or is that its 5:00 somewhere.Wonder if Wal Mart has spare sparts for the wind mills. This is the turn-even Tiger is back. Lets go USA!!

Woody McBreairty   February 24th, 2009 10:26 pm ET

The Speech of the Century.
Finally a President with a brain who can speak English and who is not led around by the nose by a bunch of right wing extremist elitist self serving rich white men. I am ever so sure that President Obama will make up for the 8 years of wreckage left behind by George W. Bush. Unfortunately, those years will ever be wasted on a fumbling, babbling, out-of-touch-with-reality make believe president, GWB. We should never let history in this case repeat itself...that means NO MORE BUSH!

Judith   February 24th, 2009 10:39 pm ET

Right on Mr President Obama and his speech and actions is why we voted for him.

Gerald Noel   February 24th, 2009 10:39 pm ET

This speech opens my intellect to understand why some States refuse the stimulus money to help jump the economy. Every cent will be scrutinized, for the first time in history of America fat people won't be paid big bonus with money that should for the benefit of a people.

carol kesling   February 24th, 2009 11:21 pm ET

this is for woody and gerald, great insight, better words couldnt have been spoken !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks alot .................

MR. President Barack "The Terminator' Obama.   February 24th, 2009 11:58 pm ET

Thank President Obama..for the clear and great speech, full of hope to the nation and the american people. I will give you a nick name "The Terminator".
Is about time "The Terminator" take over and push this country foward.
If Republicans give you trouble and no help.. think on us.. the american people that stand with you on every move you do. You got a army of democrats on your side. GO OBAMA!!!
Mr President... you Face should be in the Mount Rushmore too.

Sherry, N. Calif.   February 25th, 2009 12:35 am ET

Mr. President, I am one American in many that will stand by what you have to do to get us into the future. We do not need the GOP you have U.S. the people. We are tomorrow and glad you are our Leader.

Purnell Kankakee IL.   February 25th, 2009 12:48 am ET

For years the Republicans have done everthing they could do to drive down our wages and now they have completed their plan, people have gotten fired and are waiting in line for up to 12 hours to get a job that pays less then half of what they use to make just last years!

I guess the Republicans can now say Mission Complete!

Purnell Kankakee IL.   February 25th, 2009 12:52 am ET

The right wing nut cases are nothing but Doctor NO'S! I can't wait till 2012 when they lose even more seats, and those fake governers putting on a show for everyone lose thier jobs!

Antonio R Blount   February 25th, 2009 12:53 am ET

Mr. President

Have you ever been on a team or heard of a person acting like a team player but not contributing anything to the success of the team. This is what I see When I look at and hear some of our elected officials. It is almost sickening to see and hear this stuff, what did the last President do in 8 years? Mr. President continue to drive forward and lead the way. Your team is doing a great job, one person can’t get us out of this problem, one team, one fight.

Hopefully they will get on board

Kris with a "K"   February 25th, 2009 12:54 am ET

If this is truly a government of the people, for the people, by the people 300,000,000 strong and you want real stimulus then give each person in this country 1,000,000.00 dollars each (compare that amount to the other number of 700,000,000,000) We would be able to invest, pay off our own debts, pick the banks (or create one) that we want to put that money in to. We the people are America and not Corporate America.

John Miller   February 25th, 2009 12:57 am ET

You have to spend money to make money, When we fix the energy drain, 500 Billion for oil overseas. Then it may not cost 400.00 to heat my house, 200 to keep my lights on and 600.00 a month to fill my car, plus 500.00 for health Insc. Then I can start spending and saveing

HUtsy Contractor   February 25th, 2009 12:59 am ET

Larry,
Pres. Obama delivered a good speech tonight!! The GOP should not expect the Pres. to go back to the failed policies of the past 8 years.
The Pres. should appeal to the general public and bypass the stumbling blocks of the GOP.

scotty anderson   February 25th, 2009 1:00 am ET

why do they continue generalize when they (politicians) say the economy. the economy is multifaceted, is the idea whats good for big business good for the middleclass american?

Betty griffin   February 25th, 2009 1:10 am ET

I think Obama did a great job I am convinced I did vote for the right man! I trust that obama is sincere and has a hard road ahead for this mess that we are all in. He has just started so back off and give him a chance.

Tyrone K. Jones   February 25th, 2009 1:17 am ET

Great speech. Now, can the actions match the rhetoric? Tonight marks the end of "let's blame Bush". Tonight Obama is now the owner of the economy, the wars, the energy crisis....and many more problems/issues that confront the people of America.

Catharine Rae   February 25th, 2009 1:34 am ET

Mr. Chatzky's dismissal of the $65 dollars is similar to the snarky remarks made on the Mike Huckabee show. For someone making $42,000 a year, $65 dollars a month is a 1.8% raise – more than I got some years as an educator. For my niece's family, $65 would pay 20% of the bill for all day kindergarten. It could buy two pairs of shoes for the kidsor pay the phone bill or a copay for the doctor. It might mean a visit to the Children's Museum in St.Paul or the Children's Theater in Minneapolis. An extra $65 dollars might not mean much to those who buy $1400 dollar wastebaskets, but those of us who buy rubbermaid at Target will put it to good use.

Gary Chandler in Canada   February 25th, 2009 3:49 am ET

STOP usury,, if everyone, rich and poor, lived within their incomes, everybody would be employed...
Outlaw loan sharking! NO lending above twice of prime!

Maudie   February 25th, 2009 4:58 am ET

Mr.President I think it is time for America to be selfish and help itself. It is time to bring all troops home, rest our Military and let them help rebuild New Orleans. I love the use of the word we, to hear those words from a President our like love to my ears, and if the GOP or anyone else in Congress doesn't want to work as a team with you and us then let them go over and fight the war,not out troops.

Maudie   February 25th, 2009 5:06 am ET

George Clooney if you want help for Darfur let him and the other stars that have left America collect their money to take care of their new homelands and not America.

phillip from TX   February 25th, 2009 7:42 pm ET

I totally agree w/Woody ! no more Bush ! do not want to see hm on TV or newspapers or magazines .no more !///
